Poor customer service provided by the management in the PetHotel area. She was unfriendly and it was difficult to get to engage in conversation about my dogs and services available. She didn't even respond to me when we left and said thank you. We felt our dog was unwanted. The staff didn't seem to know how to behave around a shy dog, not aggressive. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my dog with these people. read more

DOGGY DAY CAMP - YES DOGGY GROOMERS - YES PETSMART STORE - YES I normally take my Cooper to the Banfield in Falls Church, so I can't comment on this location's banfield. However, I had my 7 month old shiba inu stay here for a full day at the doggy day camp and I think he really enjoyed himself! I called in the middle of the day to check in, and they knew exactly who Cooper was and let me know exactly how he was behaving during the day with the other fur babies. The day before, I took Cooper to the PetSmart groomers and Heather was so good with him and knew exactly how he should be groomed. She gave me some recommendations on how to help with his shedding and I definitely trust PetSmart to watch Cooper again during day care and groomers! read more

Well, over Thanksgiving we checked Cardozo into the PetSmart hotel for 5 days while we were back on the West Coast. We received a worrisome message from one of the associates that our pup was bitten during doggie day camp. It was not a serious injury and no stitches were required, but we were worried nonetheless. Everyone was very apologetic, and they kept us informed at each step (vet, sedation, meds, progress, etc). They took Cardozo to the Banfield vet on site and took very good care of him until we were able to get back. They covered the vet costs and heavily discounted his stay. While I do feel that better supervision could have prevented Cardozo's injuries, the manner in which the staff took care of Cardozo and kept us informed was very much appreciated and everything I'd expect of any caregiver given the circumstances. read more

I called to make my dog a grooming appointment, and in the background there was what sounded like a small dog, crying. Not whimpering, but crying at the top of his lungs, genuinely upset. The girl on the phone ignored it for approximately one minute before putting me on hold to go and see about the dog. Approximately one minute later she is back on the phone with me, the dog is silent, and I hear her coworker state, "by the way, we're all out of bandages". You couldn't pay me to take my dog there. Then when examining my dog (short haired 7 pound toy poodle) he said that he would need an extra 30 minutes to brush her 1/4 inch hair! I do not get it. I did not trust my dog to be groomed under his care, wouldn't want her to be nicked by accident since his job seemed to be a chore for him. Super friendly and helpful staff. There is almost always someone to greet you and your pups at the door with cookies and pet hotel reception area. I mostly use the day care and boarding services. They don't have an outdoor area but my pups absolutely love it here and run to their leashes and the door when I tell them it's a 'camp' day. It's pretty hard to wear my dog out but she always comes pretty dog gone tired after a romp here. They are always pretty well stocked and getting better about having alt items not made in China and grain-free food options so I don't have to trek out to an expensive specialty store or go online for treats and food. read more

As soon as I walked in the store I was taken aback by the strong stench. I understand it's a pet store and there's a lot going on in there, but it definitely smelled worse than any other PetSmart I've been in before. Their selection was also pretty slim for doggie apparel. We went in to find a bandanna for our large dog, and the only one they had in his size was a birthday bandanna. It's sad because this store is so close to my house, but we'll be finding another pet store for our doggie needs. read more

If you're making a reservation here for the pets hotel or grooming, be sure to triple check your reservation. Something must be up with their system. I made an online reservation, they called me a day later to confirm it. Everything seemed normal. I show up the morning of, and there is no record of my reservation. There was also supposed to be a grooming reservation, and they said it wasn't there. They tried to fix it but ended up putting me under some one else's name, and I only noticed when they had me go to sign the waiver sheet at the end. So theoretically, they could have ended up giving my dog to someone else. I just made another reservation with them today over the phone, and asked to verify another reservation I had coming up. They said I had a reservation for December 21 -23. Which I never made. So either someone else is using my info to make reservations or their system is messed up. I love this location. It is a one-stop shop for all of our pet's needs! We are always greeted by staff members as soon as we walk in, and there is plenty of staff around to help you with questions. They are all friendly and patient - I asked a LOT of questions. They have good sales on treats and dog toys as well. I just bought a new toy for my dog for a dollar last weekend. He loves it! This location has EVERYTHING and I can't wait to try all of their services! -GROOMING: I have been here 3 times for grooming. The first time they did a great job and my dog was ready in less time than they had quoted. Price is also cheaper than other places I had called (Petco, Vets) The second time he went for a grooming, they had to call me and tell me they were sending him home for bad behavior :( He wouldn't let them cut his fur and they spent a few hours on him. Since they were unable to finish his grooming session they didn't charge me! I thought this was a nice surprise considering he still got a bath, low dry, and shaved down his body. The groomer, Stephanie, was also very patient and helped us pick out grooming tools that we could use at home. She gave us advice on how to make him more comfortable with the process as well. She wasn't annoyed at all! She also gave us a tip that if the brushes/tools that we bought didn't work, we could bring it back with the receipt and exchange the item even though it has been used. The third time we came was for a quick walk-in service which he apparently did not even need. They checked him out and 10 minutes later they informed me that the procedure wasn't necessary so they did not charge me. It is obvious that PetSmart cares about customer satisfaction so i will keep coming back here...as long as they can put up with him misbehaving... -BANFIELD PET HOSPITAL: I love that they have Veterinarians in-house. We have had amazing experience here (see my review) I will definitely be using their hotel services the next time we go out of town. The dogs in the doggy day-care window looked really happy as well! This is for Petsmart Grooming in the Vienna, VA area. That is the second time I have a bad experience with the groomers at PetSmart: Once at their Maple Ave locations and today at the Vienna, VA location. I would like to hear from other women who experienced the same. I took my dog for grooming and met up with James who acted as if he were a surgeon performing his service for free. He was rude, condescending and super unfriendly. When I called I was told the grooming is for $52; Mr. James says it might cost me $79 because my dog might bite. We have never been told our little puppy bites. He has never bitten anyone. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET THERE. YOU will be mistreated and I am not sure how they will treat your pup who cannot complain about the treatment. I gave Petsmart a try for my Schnauzer's first dental cleaning (long overdue)... and I honestly expected to get soaked on the bill. However, I was stunned that the bill was FAR less than I had been quoted anywhere else in town (even our former vet clinic). The staff was really good with my boy (awesome bedside manner)... and they called me to check on him the next day. I thought I would never change vets locally again... but Banfield was outstanding. They roll all of the bloodwork, and anesthesia fees into their initial charge, and they also run through any potential fees that might come into play if teeth need to be extracted, etc... they are very direct, and honest. This experience has completely defied everything I expected from a chain vet service. The biggest surprise (for me) was that they didn't try to talk me into anything I didn't need or want. The place was easy to find, easy to get in and out of... and no attitude from ANYONE there. It started with a dental cleaning, and they ended up with all of my pet business. The only drawback is that it's like a doggie wonderland in there... I found at least three things I really REALLY want to go back to get (The pet-a-potty, the Furminator brush....and the dogloo setup in the back...my dogs are indoor pets, but I'd love for them to have a place to escape to when the kids get too huggy). The grooming section of this store is absolutely horrible! My boyfriend and I had an appointment early in the morning and when we got there at 7 am nobody was there to help us. Then when somebody finally came to assist us we were informed that the groomers were running late! Around 7:20 the female groomer showed up. She told us the man Lacardo was the groomer for OUR dog and he was also running late. We were extremely upset and didn't even revive an apology for our inconvenience. After another 10 minutes we cancelled our appointment. All the groomer said was "ok". There was no care for the time we took out of our early morning. read more

This review is for the PetSmart Pet Hotel: Our usual boarding place is all the way out in Chantilly (we live in Falls Church) & has limited sunday pick hours so selfishly we initially boarded our dog here primarily because we had a free night coupon and we were only going away for an extended weekend and wanted to conveniently bring her home on a Sunday vs a Monday morning. We didn't have high expectations but we were so pleasantly surprised when our pup had a great stay! We've now boarded her a few times for short stays there and each time the staff was fantastic -- from the call center to the in-store staff, everyone was so kind and patient and most importantly sweet to our baby dog. PetSmart really does a great job hiring (or training) staff that care for pets and humans alike. The in-store staff remembered our pup on subsequent visits, were happy to see her, and when she had some difficult digestive issues they called us to update us on her status & genuinely seemed to care that she wasn't at 100% and wanted to help her. We trust the PetSmart staff with our dog and we didn't think we'd ever say that about a corporate boarding facility. Shout out to Bri and the rest of the in-store team at Vienna VA! I love the structured day camp activities (our dog does too!) and their rates are affordable, hours super convenient, and booking is easy. They run specials and if you check your receipt, there are coupons for the Pets Hotel & day care on there sometimes! The facility is 100% indoors but for these shorter stints we board her for, we don't mind that so much. We are very happy with PetSmart and the staff at the Vienna location is what has made our experience so great and provided us peace of mind while our baby pup is with them! Side note: the rest of the store staff is always very courteous and helpful. They make eye contact and say Hi when you enter, ask if you need help, and are so pleasant at checkout. I'm sooo mad right now ?!? I bought a 50 COUNT AND ALL I GET IS 18 SUPERWORMS. I'm very disappointed at this. And the worms were super weak I could grab them all and they wouldn't even squirm out of my hand usually when I try to grab them to count I could barely grab 5 when it's a huge bundle from the bowl. When I go to the other one in Springfield I never have an issue. I'm super disappointed I was planing to give my dragon 20 superworms for dinner but noooo. This is a review for the grooming services only. The last time I took my dog there, I picked him up and he had multiple wounds on his body that I hadn't seen before. The groomer said that it was age spots. But sure enough, they have been healing and I am absolutely certain that they nicked him in these places. I will not do any business with PetSmart, and many of my friends and other dog owners won't either the reason being is this store does dog boarding and daycare, and they do not allow any mix of Pit Breeds. They do not know nor understand the breed at all. This is simple Discrimination of a Breed that can be super Loving and precious. I have worked in Kennels, and work at a dog daycare facility where we do have all breeds that play together very well, and our staff does not see a problem with working with them. I am also an owner of a Pit Mix who is also my Emotional Support Dog. I will not spend even 1cent at Any PetSmart until this policy is changed, nor will I recommend them to any of my clients or friends. read more

Let me start by saying, my dog a 10 year old Maltipoo. I've had him for 7 years and he's been getting groomed at various Petsmarts (depending where I lived) for at least that long. Prior to coming to this Petsmart I have never had any problems. Every now and then the groomers will tell me he doesn't like his paws grabbed. But that's the extent of it. I moved to Tysons in June 2016 & started taking him there. The first time I was told he's difficult and needs an "experienced groomer". That was the first time I've ever heard that. They also complained about his "matting" and charged me an extra $10 for it. Again, I have never been told he was matted before, and this is because he wasn't matted. He has curly fur. He's a poodle for crying out lout. They continue to tell me the same thing every time. He's difficult. I should have just found another groomer, but this is convenient. So shame on me. The last few times I have taken him, he has been shaking when we have gotten in the car to go and by the time I take him in the store he's crying and shaking uncontrollably. I figured it was separation anxiety. I know better now. Today I went to pick him up, first time I had him groomed by Marco, and he proceeds to tell me that he was a "bad boy today and he bit me. He drew blood". My first thought was, shit! Are you ok, I'm so sorry! Second was, wth were you doing to him to where he bite you?! 7 years he has never been anyone. Never bit any groomer, ever!! So the consequences of this bite was that Marco has banned him from being able to go to this Petsmart groomer anymore. It is a blessing in disguise. I should have paid more attention to what my dog was trying to tell me that he didn't want to go to see these people. Before I did this review I just saw another bad review on the same groomer. I should have read them first. I wonder what the consequences are for these groomers that treat dogs terribly and then blame the dog for acting out? I am giving it 2 stars only because they actually did a good cut on him as I asked. read more

We have a fish tank and (until recently) hamsters. This is the closest pet store to my house, and usually has decent prices on supplies, but I can't say I trust them for advice...the employees are friendly enough and happy to make recommendations, but it's a crap shoot as to whether they're any good. One employee says live plants would help balance the chemical balance of the tank, so we get live plants...a few weeks later, the water is worse and the next employee says plants aren't recommended for that size aquarium. One employee recommends one chemical, the next recommends something entirely different. One says get a certain kind of heater, the next says we don't need a heater at all. The pattern seems to be, "here buy this" followed by "you didn't need that at all." I've learned to do my own research. read more

I love this PetSmart! I visit here nearly weekly for dog food and treats. The staff is so friendly, and they always remember me and my Boston terrier. Also they always have the food I feed my dog in stock, and the treats he likes which I am pretty particular about as I want him to eat well. I love that I can take my dog in the pet store, and for as corny as it is I always let him pick out his new favorite toy. I know it really is a "feel good" thing for me, but it works because it tricks me into thinking my dog cares about his new squeaky stuffed animal. I too my dog for puppy training classes here and I thought it was an okay program. I didn't feel the trainers were very professional. They seem to only go through some training that PetSmart offers. He definitely did learned quite a bit, and he has (fairly) good manners now. As far as their vetinary program (BanField) I have some hangups,but all and all I love PetSmart and how accessible and friendly it is. read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE. MY DOG TREMBLED NON-STOP WHEN I PICKED HER UP! Cost of board a dog is $32 dollars, but they charge $19 if you want to add a dog play day. Else they will have your dog crated up, if you want to save money, you will actually loose money at the end. The staffs is so unfriendly. When I picked up my dog and ask if front desk staff if my dog had fun during the play day. When I checked my dog in, the front desk manager was rude, he looks mean and act means. When I picked my dog up, I saw a friendlier lady, but she was faked. When I inquired if my dog had a good stay, she immediately answered with a enthusiastic "YES, SHE SURE DID!", but when I asked her if she actually was there that weekend, she said no. The manager at this store, has a mean look, for some reason, I feel like he has the tendency to kick or abuse dogs or something. He has this really mean essence to it. As soon as I realized this, I want to grab my dog and go home, but then my flight was in 2 hours. I stand around watching trying to look at my dog, but they took my dog out back and out of my view. They said i can view the facility through this one tiny window. but through that tiny glass window I was able to see a 3 dogs, they look extremely scared, "trembling and shaking". When I picked up my dog that 3 days later, my dog wouldn't stop shaking either. For some reason, I felt like she has been abused. We traveled quite frequently, and she has boarded before, but never been like this. PLEASE DO NOT BOARD YOUR LOVING PETS HERE. If you want to save money, you should know that you will loose money in the end because unless you pay $19 extra, they will just lock your dog in a tiny crate all cramped up. read more

"Grooming at a Petco/Petsmart? ehh I don't know...." But you know what, I was getting price quotes of $70-$100 without tip for a shih tzu and my Charlie is a 6 pound shit mind you who was starting to get that #EWOK SWAG look and I was desperate and it was just too long to wait until I returned to my home sweet home that is NYC and pay a visit to my groomer in NYC who charges $40-60. Yes, $40-60 to groom a shih tzu in New York Fuckin' City *rant* sigh moving on.... So somehow regrettably yes, my naivite got the best of me after I decided the couple of 5 star yelp reviews praising Grooming at this location enough to go to Stephanie because she "knows shih tzus." Putting my doubts aside, my expectations were set pretty high because of these rave reviews and I trusted my Yelp bretheren. Yesterday morning, I wake up my pup nicee and early to make a trek from Rosslyn on I-66 CHAOS to make it to Tyson's for my 9am appointment. I arrive at Petsmart just in time to browse around the store and really liked the layout and offerings: grooming station, pethotel, Banfield vet/hospital and aisles and aisles of pet supplies. I of course decided to browse the adorable hero section and toys for Charlie boy while he pulled on the other end of his leash wanting to greet anyone and everyone who caught his eye. Per usual. I dropped Charlie off at the groomer, showed them a picture of what I wanted and deliberately specified a "short puppy cut with his round face and short facial hair....cut his hair short" He took a liking to Stephanie, I was told to return to pick him up at 1:15pm and off he went shaking his little tail while mommy left with a bit of separation anxiety leaving her baby with someone for the first time. I try to run some errands and receive a voicemail about an hour later saying, "Charlie's mom, yea, he's finished but does not like to be groomed by his face and needs to be picked up because he is a troublemaker" I immediately think the worst and call to confirm that yes, I need to turn around and pick up my "troublemaker son". While I appreciate the honesty and the fact they would only charge me $15.99 for a "puppy trim" instead of a full groom they quoted to be $54, I would have rather they do their job as certified/professional dog groomers and groom the dog to the customer's specifications. I tried insisting she try again or have someone else try and she said "we tried for like 10 minutes" WHOA CHICK!!! 10 minutes? Are you f-ing kidding me?! Yea, I told you he's a puppy, I told you it's his first time at the groomers, I don't want him to think he can just resist for 10 minutes and get out of grooming- big no no when it comes to training him... $15 is a waste to clip his nails, clean his ears and ass which I can do myself and that puppy "trim"- he looks like the same shag of a dog when I brought him here, only fluffier when i SHOWED YOU A PICTURE AND SPECIFICALLY SAID I WANTED HIS HAIR SHORTER! So I'm going to massage Charlie's face more but the search continues for a dog groomer in the DC/NOVA area who can HANDLE my 6 pound shih tzu and if shelling out more money than I would have like gets me the results I want then fine but I will never go back to PetSmart for grooming. Verdict: ALWAYS trust your gut because you get what you pay for. read more

I took my 2 dogs to get groomed and instead of 2 clean dogs back, I was given 1 groomed dog and 1 half groomed dog with 2 stitches, a puncture wound requiring medical glue and pain meds. They called saying they noticed a deep cut and that they gave my Yorkie to their in-store vet. We spoke with the Vet and he said it looked like a nick from something sharp not a bite which is what the groomers seemed to be implying since we had a larger dog. The store manager was polite but didn't offer any resolutions until he heard the Vet say it was most likely a nick. Then the manager offered to cover the grooming for the Yorkie and her Vet bills. Which is only the basic mandatory resolution so this does not fix the problem. We spoke with the groomer and she swears she didn't nick the dog but we didn't notice any cuts or bleeding in the past few days and we told her the Vet said it looked like a nick, not a bite, and she refused to believe it and started getting defensive. The manager told her to stop because clearly at this point we are so upset that we wouldn't believe her. Pets are our family members and you don't entrust them with other people and expect them to come back with stitches. read more

I'd first like to start off by saying that I have never given fewer than five stars on any of my ratings, which is obviously verifiable on my profile. I believe in rewarding and recognizing businesses that go above and beyond - both monetarily and in public praise. Typically, as a matter of principle, I also believe that grievances should be handled privately. In the case of this PetSmart in Vienna, I am making an exception. Like most of you, I am a huge animal lover - particularly, not surprisingly, my own. My dog, Dobby, is a mixed-breed shelter dog, whom my girlfriend and I adopted two years ago. Dobby is labeled an "American Pit Bull Terrier" through visual observation only. The pit bull, as a dog classification (not as a breed), is a "pit bull" regardless of its mix with other breeds. There is no biological test to determine if a dog is a pit bull, because, by definition, the pit bull is a "mutt." Dobby is likely mixed with a French Mastiff. My girlfriend and I were headed on vacation for a week with her family, and unfortunately did not have another family or friend option for Dobby to stay with while we were gone. We called this PetSmart location based on a recommendation from a family member who also boards her dog there. When asked his breed, my girlfriend answered honestly that Dobby was a pit bull mix. We were told that Dobby would be able to stay in a crate by himself, where he would have no interaction with other dogs, and limited human interaction, outside of daily walks and periodic play time with a staff member. He would not be allowed to play with the other dogs - which just so happens to be his favorite activity. My girlfriend got off the phone in tears. Dobby is three years old. He has never been in a dog fight. He has never acted aggressively toward another dog. He has; however, been on the receiving end of all of that treatment - humped, nipped, bitten, cut, bruised, growled at, etc. And yet at no point has he ever retaliated. He just wags his tail and continues on his jolly little way. I'll also add that he spends every evening socialized with dogs in dog parks located in both Washington, DC and Arlington, VA. Do I expect PetSmart to know that? Of course not. A preliminary personality test, like the one that was offered at the place we ultimately had him (Doozydog! Club on 14th St, Washington, DC) would have determined that he was completely socialized and not a risk to attack other dogs. I was incredulous at the idea that my dog would be treated as a felon before he was given the opportunity to prove himself. Outside of the obviously prejudice condoned at this PetSmart, its candidly un-American. If you go to the website, www.dogs.com, you are taken to the PetSmart website. I applaud PetSmart's marketing campaign in targeting the very clientele it hopes to attract. Disabled folks...this is my story, I'm disabled and own a service animal. We are visiting Arlington, VA and while here, I needed my dog's nails clipped. As a current customer of PetSmart in my home state, I went to the store in Tyson's Corner expecting excellent customer service. The manager explained--quoting policy, that I'm not permitted to accompany my service animal behind the counter, however I am permitted to observe the staff clipping my dogs nails from the customer side of the counter. He also explained that store policy forbids the staff from performing any service--such as nail clipping, from the customer side of the counter. After explaining to him that trying to separate my service animal from me even by an obstruction as low as a counter is not a good idea because she is a specially trained service animal for my disability and coupled with not being in a familiar environment could over stress her causing her to potentially become protective. I also asked him if he's aware of the ADA K9 Service Animal laws. He replied; "...it doesn't apply." When he said that, another customer asked him; "Whats the big deal with clipping his dog's nails with him at her side? It's just a nail clipping." The manager replied to the other customer; "...doesn't concern you." I decided the battle wasn't worth the stress, so my dog and I left the store. After some searching, I found a local animal clinic that took care of my dog's nails. I understand that a company's policy is in place for a reason, but sometimes--especially for the disabled folks, an accommodation to the policy can be made. After all...it's just a nail clipping. read more

We go there for Banfield services and buy pet food. Love their staff and friendliness. They are very helpful with my million questions. Today I'm trying their doggie daycare services and comparing them to dogtopia. So far it's pretty smooth and great service. They are cheaper by $10 and offer complimentary food. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FISH FROM HERE!!!!! I bought several tropical fish from this location during their Grand Opening Event. By that evening, two of them had died, which they explained that was because of the shock of the transition. Then, less than 2 weeks after I put them in my established tank, the ENTIRE tank (including my 6 year old tetras and pleco) was dead due to Ick. When I was buying them, I had asked repeatedly whether their fish were healthy because I didn't want to risk my older fish and was assured that they were all very healthy. Later, I learned that all of the tropical fish tanks share water so if one batch of fish has ick, that can be spread to every tank they have there. Please go to the other petstore down the street...they at least had the decency to tell me that they were having an Ick outbreak and not to buy from them now so as to not risk my long-standing fish. Also, if you decide to risk it, be sure to keep your receipt; they will not refund your money even if its within the 14 day period without a receipt. I asked if they could use the transaction number from the credit card payment, but they are not able to do this. read more

Fleas, Fleas, Fleas, I dropped my puppy off for a two night stay and when he was returned he had fleas, even with him being on flea and tick medicine. When I called to complain to the individuals who ran to hotel, they said they would call me back tomorrow. Absolutely no word from them since and when I tried to call back three times I was disconnected. They tried to feed me a story that he could have gotten it from a squirrel dropping the fleas and getting attached to my shoe and then I brought it into my home. What's more likely he got it from your "hotel" or that situation. I encourage you to look anywhere else, not only did I have to deflea my pup but they did not even have the common courtesy to return my phone calls. read more

This review is for the Banfield animal hospital. I flew over here about 20 minutes before closing because my cat was really not feeling well and they couldn't have been more kind or accommodating. I ended having to stay an hour and half after closing and no one was rude or rushed. They even brought me damp towels to clean up an accident my cat had on my belongings and gave her a litterbox to use. Someone called the next day to check up on her too. Great experience. read more

Prayash is An amazing trainer. We have enrolled our puppy into two of his classes already and really love his enthusiasm and passion for training. Not only one on one training but group classes any questions he answers no problem. I highly recommend any training classes with Prayash he is great!!!!!!! read more

Our pooch recently stayed at the Pet Hotel in Tysons. A few days after he developed a rough cough and so we took him to the vet, who diagnosed it as Kennel cough. - Even though his Bordetella vaccine shot is 2 months fresh. I called the manager at the Pet Hotel to ask if there was an outbreak there, he was completely dismissive. This is the final straw. More than once we picked our dog up from here to find him dehydrated and covered with fleas. I can't imagine the conditions that our dog was kept in. He won't be back that's for sure. read more
