Some of the happy dog photos from themed party days
    Nancy R.

Our current rescue dog is the shyest and most nervous dog I have ever had (and I've had dogs my whole life).  We've tried so many things to acclimate her to other dogs and experiences from classes to dog parks to professional dog whisperers but nothing worked.  So, when a neighbor suggested doggie day camp at our local petsmart, we figured we had nothing to lose.  Talk about the best advice ever!  Our dog loves it there!  And, even though she tends to be a wall flower, she is always so excited to go striding through those doors to see her doggie friends and sniff hello.  The staff there is so welcoming and recognizes her with very warm greetings which she loves.  Pup especially loves the twice a month special events (which is mostly when she goes).  The doggie camp hosts themed parties with doggie ice cream and an adorable photo op (one of the things I especially love.)  The staff at the doggie day camp have made my dog feel so comfortable (a dog that can start to shake at the sound of a garbage truck or sight of a lawnmower) that they have even gotten her to pose for a Thanksgiving photo wearing a huge happy doggie face and a turkey hat!  A turkey hat!!  The most adorable photo ever!!  Our dog used to quake whenever she went in the car.  Now she drags me to the door hoping that she will be going to see her furry pals.  We have also been really happy to have her board there.  She can stay in a little room instead of a crate and they can keep the tv on for her if she is more comfortable with the background sound.  Plus, the staff is always so friendly and understanding when an anxious mom calls in just to check on her dog.  The petshotel has extended hours which make it very convenient and flexible.  We are super happy with Petsmart's doggie day camp and boarding. They have brought a great deal of happiness and excellent care to our special pup.

I went here thrice for the wolf trap rescue event. We did foatering puppies and wtar do their events in here. It is quite spacious which made it perfect for adoption event. The store has their own restroom and a husge parking space. They have all sorts of pet stuff and needs available for purchase. This is a one stop shop for you and your pet cause they have the hotel, grooming, store & hospital for your pet. Staff are also very good attending to your needs just ask them and theyll be willing to show you what youre looking for.

This is the cut they gave to my poor dog at the Vienna PetSmart Grooming Salon

The owner talked about how the ticket only said wash and nails. I could leave the dog there for the rest of the day and they would do it but my dog hadn't really needed it. The owner went on to say that if I wanted to bring my dog back in 3-4 weeks, she would just do just the haircut. 4 weeks later, I set up an appointment for just a haircut, and confirmed it right then and there - just a haircut. Yes, they understood. I then confirmed again when I dropped the dog off. They understood. When I picked them up, they had done a full groom, which looked fine but wasn't what i asked for. The owner implied I had misunderstood, but wouldn't address that she had said I could come back for just a cut, and she would not answer questions about why her staff had agreed repeatedly to just a cut. She just kept saying she didn't understand the confusion, and I had to pay $150 because they had done a full groom. she wasn't even aware of how much they charged for a full groom at first. She discounted 20%. Her response to me saying I wouldn't be bringing her my business anymore was, "That's fine". This business is not registered with the BBB. I recommend you go elsewhere, but get everything in writing if you bring your animal here.

The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and informative and made it easy. When it came time to drop my dog off the staff were so friendly and kind, and they were extremely attentive and took detailed notes of all the items I brought with my dog and any of her quirks (e.g., severe allergies, doesn't play well with others, etc.). The space was so clean and large. I felt very reassured dropping her off as I went on vacation. When I came back to get her, the staff was helpful and, again, extremely kind and talked about her time there with details that were definitely unique to my dog. She was happy, healthy, clean, and well groomed. All of her toys and leash items were accounted for and they even ran a toy out to my car that they had forgotten in her kennel. Bottom line: 5/5 do recommend!

Two years after boarding my dog at Olde Towne Pet Resort, I am still dealing with health issues…read morecaused during her stay. I am not one to complain, especially in a public forum, but the lack of care my animal received was egregious. During her stay, my dog experienced an ear infection so severe that she developed acute dermatitis from scratching. The sore or 'hot spot' on her cheek was unmissable when we picked her up, but The staff tried to pass it off as if everything was normal. The groomer who prepared her for pickup had the gall to pretend he didn't notice a massive weeping sore on her face. For her condition to have reached this point, she would have needed to scratch constantly for days and not be noticed by the staff that were supposed to be spending 'cuddle time' with her daily. As anyone who has ever had a pet with an ear infection can attest, the behavior is far from subtle. Any remotely observant and competent person would catch it. Worse, I reviewed the update photos that were sent throughout her stay, and red spot on her cheek is visible in every shot and getting progressively worse. This means that the staff overseeing playtime let an animal run around with blood on her face for days without investigating. This is utterly unacceptable. My dog also came home with constant bouts of diarrhea that we assumed this might have been a bug she picked up in boarding, but it turned out to be colitis. Our veterinarian confirmed that this was most likely stress-induced. It has made me wonder what trauma my dog experienced while being boarded that would cause her to develop a permanent bowel condition. Her colitis has caused her enormous suffering and I am still trying to manage the condition years later. As others have reported here, the staff did not feed my animal the way they were directed, and returned what was supposed to be an empty bag of dog food to us half-full. So to recap, they underfed my dog in addition to neglecting an ear infection and resultant severe, pus-weeping skin infection, then tried to pass my pet off to me as if nothing happened. Whatever they did or neglected to do for her led to a chronic bowel condition that has rendered her partially incontinent. I was appalled by the dishonesty I experienced from the staff, but decided at the time to let it go, and simply swore never to give Olde Towne my business again. I figured my dog would bounce back, but she didn't. Reflecting that she has never been the same and that she experienced pain and neglect at the hands of the people I entrusted her with, I feel the need to let other pet owners know what they might be in for if they board their animals here.

Brandi & Perry were amazing! Highly recommend working with them…read more We adopted a one year old mixed breed, Tuck, a few months ago. He's very sweet but started to get rambunctious to the point that my remote work felt challenging. He also started jumping or freezing when he saw other dogs on walks, and he occasionally barked or growled and men. We weren't sure if it was the start of aggressive behavior or just the result of a shelter dog that hasn't been exposed. After doing our research, we decided to do the 3 week behavior modification board and train program. We were really impressed from beginning to end. They shared a ton of information upfront, walked us through their facility (we opted to drop him off) and sent pictures and updates every evening. It became clear right away that they both have a very deep understanding of dogs, as well as a real respect and love for them. Tuck loved them! The best part was the "transition" day when Perry brought Tuck back and spent the day teaching us everything they've worked on together. We are first time dog owners so generally going in pretty blind. Perry gave us a 101 on dogs and the importance of clear and consistent communication. He talked through all of the layers of training and how/why it is effective. We felt this part was SO helpful for us to understand how to be better owners. Then we walked Tuck around the neighborhood with Perry guiding us and then spent time addressing indoor behaviors too. He was flexible and stayed until we felt comfortable with everything. This is a long review so the TLDR: finding a trainer is a big decision and investment so we wanted to get it right. Brandi & Perry were really incredible and beyond our expectations!! Truly worth every penny! Tuck has been doing really great at home and outside since being home. I've been able to work full days with him holding "place" on his cot, which would have been unheard of before!

From the very first interaction, Kenny and Sarah were professional, warm, and genuinely passionate about what they do. I was overseas on vacation, but they shared the progress and transformation pictures and updates every day. Theo is more confident, focused, and responsive than ever. What really impressed me with Ridgeside K9 apart is the care and dedication that Kenny and Sarah brought to the 3-week transformation and the dedicated work with him. It was easy to tell this isn't just a job for them -- they truly love working with dogs and it shows in the results. Theo came home happy, well-behaved, and I could tell during the 2 hour turnover session that Theo had clearly bonded with his trainers. If you're in the Winchester and surrounding area and looking for exceptional dog training, look no further than Ridgeside K9. Ask for Kenny and Sarah -- you and your pup won't be disappointed!
