It works despite being in a busy area. The building looks a bit blight like, considering the new images of Tyson's. Going in they do have really nice employees. Their folks in the fish and reptile sections are knowledgeable. This can be helpful, especially for the animals, as often humans don't have a clue. Also am grateful this company doesn't sell cats or dogs, but rather sponsors adoption. As for the store itself it's ok. It has been frustrating not to find reptile lights, or substrate on occasion. On a positive note they always have Betta fish food. It's a fairly organized store. The outside might look like the 1980's or before, but inside it is clean and aesthetically pleasing. The groomers are obnoxious and rude. The experience I just had was not only unnecessary, but also uncivilized.. I was told the rabies vaccination for my dog expired, so I changed my day around to go get his vaccine same day. When I went to the vet, I learned that the vaccine had not actually expired. I brought updated documentation showing the vaccine is now updated and asked how I was given that information. Apparently asking a question is a problem. Do not go to this location because if they can talk to a person this way, I'd question how your pet gets treated too read more

10/3/22 It smells like wet animals in here with the possibility of human body odor. A smell I do not like. It set the tone for how long I would be in there. I needed mirrors for my cockatiel and since I was in the area, this store was ideal. I feel this store is better than the Annandale store. In regards of variety of product. I did see one of the birds toys I was looking at was damaged. More likely someone took a small piece of the toy and left the store. The cats I saw in their...prison cells did not have much to do, but sleep. The cats I saw did not have a cellmate in their prison cell. It made me think of prisoners laying in their beds staring at the ceiling. I saw dogs getting their hair cut and I think of Poodles with their ridicules haircuts. Luckily no woman in spandex bodysuits with high heels walking their dog(s). Yes, something I saw in San Francisco California. Something I originally thought was just a television/movie thing. Anyhow, upon checking out, the line was getting longer and longer with only one cashier. The energy level in this store was low. Yes, this maybe a high school type of job, but come on people. Finally A happy go lucky lady took over another register and rang me up. Thinks for the small chit chat as you rang me up. I might make another trip here, because of the jungle gym sets they had for our bird. I think he might appreciate the new attraction; as well, as a bigger cage too. Our current rescue dog is the shyest and most nervous dog I have ever had (and I've had dogs my whole life).  We've tried so many things to acclimate her to other dogs and experiences from classes to dog parks to professional dog whisperers but nothing worked.  So, when a neighbor suggested doggie day camp at our local petsmart, we figured we had nothing to lose.  Talk about the best advice ever!  Our dog loves it there!  And, even though she tends to be a wall flower, she is always so excited to go striding through those doors to see her doggie friends and sniff hello.  The staff there is so welcoming and recognizes her with very warm greetings which she loves.  Pup especially loves the twice a month special events (which is mostly when she goes).  The doggie camp hosts themed parties with doggie ice cream and an adorable photo op (one of the things I especially love.)  The staff at the doggie day camp have made my dog feel so comfortable (a dog that can start to shake at the sound of a garbage truck or sight of a lawnmower) that they have even gotten her to pose for a Thanksgiving photo wearing a huge happy doggie face and a turkey hat!  A turkey hat!!  The most adorable photo ever!!  Our dog used to quake whenever she went in the car.  Now she drags me to the door hoping that she will be going to see her furry pals.  We have also been really happy to have her board there.  She can stay in a little room instead of a crate and they can keep the tv on for her if she is more comfortable with the background sound.  Plus, the staff is always so friendly and understanding when an anxious mom calls in just to check on her dog.  The petshotel has extended hours which make it very convenient and flexible.  We are super happy with Petsmart's doggie day camp and boarding. They have brought a great deal of happiness and excellent care to our special pup. read more

Another disappointment! This store is just in 5 minutes walk from my home and I wish to like this place,but... Store is understaffed,employees are rude and there are always lines to checkout. Two times I was rerouted from the line to other cashier and also after 10 minutes wait store employee told me he should serve somebody after me without explaining why. Choice is limited,some of fishes in tanks are dead,no adequate management. Ridiculous.... I added one star because adoption cats are very cute and seems they have food and care. read more

I used to find it super easy to use the pay online, pick up order method but the employees would make such a stink that they have to go behind that counter to go get your order - and I mean a visibly poor attitude complete with nasty facial expressions, that I find it so much easier to go old school and just walk in, load up my cart and pay for it at the cash register - which was probably the functional purpose of their pissy attitude in the first place. If they can figure out a way for online orders to be picked up without any cashier help, I'll go back to that method. read more

I brought my dog for a walk-in appointment over the weekend. I was really hoping that they would be able to trim my dogs nails, but unfortunately my dog had other plans. The staff were super nice about it and only charged for brushing, which is the only thing she allowed them to do. Tip: if you've never been to a PetSmart, you must bring your dogs rabies vaccination record with you before your pet can be seen! I advise PetSmart to add this requirement to their website. We had to go home and get my dogs certificate which was unfortunate because we called ahead to make sure they weren't too busy for a walk in and it also could have been stated at that time. read more

Needed live crickets to feed a leopard gecko. My go to has been the pet store near Trader Joe's on Leesburg Pike. Sadly, that pet store has closed down. Sitting in the TJ parking lot, scrolling pet stores on my phone... the closest was this PetSmart. But did they have live crickets??? After an incredibly long and annoying phone message, followed by a message that said they were too busy to check stock (really???), someone answered and confirmed cricket availability. Yes, it's a bit shabby on the outside, especially given the Tysons location, but the 2 employees who helped me were friendly and efficient. And the crickets were alive. So aside from the PetSmart canned phone message (zero *), the store is a 5* for me. read more

I went here thrice for the wolf trap rescue event. We did foatering puppies and wtar do their events in here. It is quite spacious which made it perfect for adoption event. The store has their own restroom and a husge parking space. They have all sorts of pet stuff and needs available for purchase. This is a one stop shop for you and your pet cause they have the hotel, grooming, store & hospital for your pet. Staff are also very good attending to your needs just ask them and theyll be willing to show you what youre looking for. read more

I wish I read the reviews here before I made appointments with PetSmart Tyson's grooming. Had our first grooming service appointment with Cindy and the service quality was terrible. When I went to pick up my pet, after tipping Cindy, I found out that there was still poop on my dog's butt. I asked her whether the bath they provide includes cleaning the butt. She confirmed that was part of the service and admitted she did not notice the poops. Seriously? I could not understand how a groomer could not notice the dog's poop on its body. Also the nail part was did so bad. I did not know how PetSmart recruits groomers but she was definitely not a qualified groomer. read more

There were two checkout lanes @ Petsmart, guy in front appeared to be in the first lane, but left an open spot in front, so I went to the second lane. As I approached the second clerk,who was a person of color, she said there was only one line, though there was no signage. She said white guy in front of me was first, then a white woman got in line in front of me at the first lane. Being a nice guy, I didn't say anything, but then, I realized what was going on and told the 2nd clerk I was upset about the treatment. She begrudgingly apologized, as did her manager, but no offer of a discount, or any other gesture. She only offered that they'd address the signage issue. This review is strictly for the Petsmart Grooming salon. I am so upset and frustrated over my most recent experience there. I have been taking my beloved dog to this Petsmart for 5 years for grooming and to the pet hospital. I have never had a problem with Banfield and commend all of them on their excellent customer service. At the grooming salon I was always happy with my groomer Jennifer. I have since found out that Jennifer is no longer with Petsmart grooming and now I know why! On this past Tuesday, October 18th, I took my dog to the Petsmart groomer for her appointment at 11:00 AM to have full service grooming. In the afternoon, I remembered that I forgot to mention to have her have bows put in her hair so I called the grooming salon. When I mentioned what I had called for I was told..."Oh, something happened to your dog and we need to talk to you-please hold." Well, any dog lover knows that a million thoughts ran through my head while I was put on a 20 minute hold! I thought my dog had gotten sick and died or that another dog attacked her I was so worried! After being automatically redirected to the main Petsmart line I was transferred back to the grooming department and put on hold AGAIN. I just wanted to know if my dog was OK or not and FINALLY the manager of the grooming salon came on the line to tell me that the groomer cut my dog while trimming her hair and that she was cut and is in the pet hospital! I was so shocked that this happened because in the five years that I had been taking her there, nothing like this EVER happened and I know my dog is very mellow and doesn't jerk around while getting groomed. Anyways, the manager told me that the cut was so bad that they couldn't finish grooming her and that she may need stitches. What shocked me even more was that NOBODY CALLED ME to let me know that this happened! If I hadn't called to request to have bows in her hair, I would have not known until I went to pick her up. This is absolutely horrible and I can't believe that a company like Petsmart would treat their customers like this. When I picked up my dog she was so scared and trembling. She was acting as though she hadn't seen me in years and started whimpering. Besides the deep cut they gave her I don't know what else they did to her to scare her so much. The manager talked to me however would not take responsibility in the groomer doing this. It felt like a BS apology, you know, one of those, "Sorry this happened to you and sorry IF you are upset," type of apologies. He also said that she didn't need stitches and that they just "glued" up her wound. I understand that people make mistakes and I wasn't going to write a review until I saw my dogs wound today. Today it started bleeding heavily again and clearly she did in fact need stitches. I urge you all, if you care about your pet, please consider another groomer. My poor dog is not even healing yet because the wound is so deep. I have cleaned it up and have attached pics for your reference. Jennifer was amazing at Petsmart but since she is no longer there, I will not be risking by taking my dog to anyone else. I have brought my Collie there a number of times for grooming and there is always a problem, with administrative items . I had to drive there and back several times because they forgot or overlooked requirements for signatures on papers. Or even worse one person says there is no need to sign a release and then I get a call that there is a need. Very very disorganized and wastes customers time. I don't advice that you go there for grooming because they don't listen to each other or customers . I actually am concerned for my dog. read more

They generally did well her with grooming but apparently have a staffing shortage and didn't post anything about it. I consider letting customers know when you're open for business basically the minimum level of customer service, and they didn't even do that. The advertised hours are 7 a.m. open time, and I just got here at 9 and was told no groomer was scheduled to come in until 10:30. Since my dog doesn't like riding in the car, this is a big disappointment for both of us since it means another car ride. Changing your hours online (and they're posted two locations in the store as 7 a.m.) is such an easy thing to do. I probably won't be coming back since it's not worth the stress of hauling my dog here only to find out she can't get her grooming done. read more

I was there 5/19/2021 and when I arrived to pick up my dog from daycare no one was at the front desk. I got there at 7:50pm and pressed the button to call the workers up so I can pick up my dog. NO ONE CAME OUT UNTIL 8:25pm and that was when I asked 3 different workers to go get them. I saw them Just casually walking dogs in the room and not caring what is going on in the front. You should know that daycare pickup ends 8-8:30pm so there should have been someone outside in the front to make sure all the dogs go home. When the worker came out he said "sorry my walkie-talkie died so I didn't know someone was up here". I'm sorry what? Isn't it your job to maintain your technical supplies to make sure all your customers gets taken cared of? There was two workers in the back. So both of them did not cared to check on their walkie-talkie during the day if it was low battery or not. Clearly these two people did not care about the customers at all. I've been going there for long time and this was the first ever time it happened. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE AT ALL. read more

I got a new puppy for Christmas and the staff at PetSmart has been so very helpful. Everytime I go in there I get the best assistance for what my puppy needs. Shopping is easy, the aisles are clean and organized and there is always someone there willing to help. I also love the fact that this PetSmart is super awesome because it has Banfield Pet Hospital, PetSmart Hotel and Doggy DayCare and Grooming. It's like a one stop shop and it's so easy for me to take care of my puppy's needs in one trip. read more

I only go to Petsmart for toys and cool clothes for my dogs. They usually have a good sale or deal on toys which helps since my dogs tend to destroy toys to fast trying to get to the squeaky. It makes no sense to buy expensive toys they are going to tear up in 10 minuets. The prices for dog clothes is ok but their sales on clothes are usually pretty good. I used to buy my dog treats at Petsmart but their high prices and China made treats sent me to Amazon for safer better deals. Even with their dog treat sale prices I have found they are still overpriced. The stores are always pretty clean and it is fun to bring our dogs in to shop. The employees are pretty nice and always helpful. Will gladly return soon to get some more squeaky toys or cool clothes for my dogs! read more

Piece of advice to the manager- whoever handles your booking by phone is inconsistent with communication. She says you can pay in person to others and that you can only pay via phone to reserve spot. This is a grooming review We've used multiple PetSmarts in three different states, and this is the only one we've had a bad experience with. That being said... We took a Pomeranian in for grooming. We were very specific that we just wanted him trimmed and shaped. We picked him up and he is shaved very short all over. Hopefully his fur will grow back evenly. This is a photo of the manager who tried to physically intimidate me and was extremely aggressive and abusive towards both me and my small dog. Every time I walk in this store he harasses me and makes me feel unsafe. I have tried to get help through PetSmart a customer service without prevail. I will never be coming back to this store location ever again! For your safety I wouldn't recommend coming to this store and for your peace of mind. This manager not only mistreats people he also spends copious amounts of time outside smoking and yelling on the phone or harassing women as they walk in to the store. I've never had an experience like this in my entire life and I hope this helps you avoid having this unsafe and terrifying experience! This man smokes on my dog even when asked to not do so directly on my pet due to my small dogs sever medical condition and yet this manager intentionally will lean down to breath smoke on my dog which nearly put my poor dog in a life threatening asthmatic attack. Anyone who has came in contact with my dog knows how well behaved and sweet he is. He would never harm a fly. He has been to training school and knows his commands like a soldier. This review is specific to the grooming. We've used PetSmart twice in the past for grooming. Once at the Fairfax location and once in Vienna. We had no issues in the past and our dog behaved well, and we were pleased with our experience. However a recent experience has made me question whether PetSmart groomers really know how to handle dogs that do not like being groomed, may have some anxiety issues, or are just not super easy going. I am not fully blaming PetSmart because I will admit that my dog has some anxiety issues, and is very reactive on leash. However, the employees displayed some behaviors that made me question whether they were experienced in handling dogs that are not super friendly/socialized. There were a reasons for this: 1) In both instances where our dog reacted badly to an employee; neither employee took any time to actually introduce themselves to our dog. They put their leash on and started touching the dog. There were no treats and no time was given to make sure the dog was comfortable with this new person. They did not allow my dog to smell them before going in to touch them. I have never experienced someone touching a dog before properly introducing themselves. I def. think if the employee had taken more time to introduce themselves then we would have had fewer issues. 2) Neither employee was observant of my dog. In one incident an employee was rubbing my dogs ears for 30 seconds or so. During this time, I could tell that my dog was tensing and needed some space, especially since he was not properly introduced to this stranger and he's still on leash. The employee seemed oblivious to the dog's body language. I understand that a dog groomer has to touch the dog but they should also be able to read the dog's body language to know when they're uncomfortable and need a break. 3) The two times our dog had great grooming experiences, he was NOT examined in front of me or my husband. The two times that he had a bad experience was when he was examined in front of us, while on our leash and PetSmarts leash. When I asked the employee about this he was just like we always do that so I don't know why it wasn't done before. My dog is much more reactive on leash and we believe he's protective. He's also blind in one eye which I think he compensates for by being more alert. Having a stranger bend down touch him while on leash, in sensitive areas, with me in the room is making him more tense than if I was not there. The fact that the Petsmart employee seemed oblivious to that fact or why I was asking the question made me wonder whether they truly understood dogs. read more

I needed to get a quick nail trim for my 14 year old Pug. Walk in service. When I try to clip her nails she screams and carries on like I'm going to cut off her paws with a butter knife the second she sees me coming with the clippers. The groomer strapped her in and was finished in five minutes or so with barely even a whimper. And she did a perfect job without making her bleed or cutting to the quick. Didn't have time to get her bathed last evening but this PetSmart just became our place of choice for all of our grooming needs. We've used the Pet Hotel and the doggy daycare for over a year now. We simply couldn't be more pleased!! The staff is just fantastic. In fact it's hard to overstate how wonder that they are to the pets. They really know each dog (and I'm sure cat). They clearly love the pets threat them so well. We have used other daycare and other boarding facilities - some far more expensive. This is - BY FAR - THE BEST. We can't recommend the pet daycare and Pet's Hotel here highly enough. They are just the best!!!! LOVE them - and so does our dog. read more

PetSmart does not have a great reputation for their grooming services due to past bad publicity. However, when you find a great groomer who takes care of you fur-children the way you would expect, you go to them, no matter the venue. I started taking my two Yorkies to Brianna about 2 years ago and she is wonderful! She does a beautiful job and is so good to them. We subsequently moved from Tysons to Arlington and I still make the trek up 495 to take them to Brianna! I would give 5 stars, but for the cost. PS is quite expensive, although she is worth it. I don't think I'd pay that much if not for Brianna's special TLC with my pups. read more

DOGGY DAY CAMP - YES DOGGY GROOMERS - YES PETSMART STORE - YES I normally take my Cooper to the Banfield in Falls Church, so I can't comment on this location's banfield. However, I had my 7 month old shiba inu stay here for a full day at the doggy day camp and I think he really enjoyed himself! I called in the middle of the day to check in, and they knew exactly who Cooper was and let me know exactly how he was behaving during the day with the other fur babies. The day before, I took Cooper to the PetSmart groomers and Heather was so good with him and knew exactly how he should be groomed. She gave me some recommendations on how to help with his shedding and I definitely trust PetSmart to watch Cooper again during day care and groomers! read more

I see kind of a mix of reviews here for this PetSmart, but as always, all I can report on is my own experience. Is dog grooming cheap? No, it is not. But boy, it's hard work and it takes the right kind of equipment and skill, so you know, people deserve to be compensated for that. So, while it did in fact cost $151 to have my 2 labs groomed, I have to say, and my dogs would agree, it was worth it. Clean and fresh from teeth to tails, nails clipped and ears cleaned, fluffy and soft and smelling like furry Heaven. I have been to other PetSmarts and had similar positive experiences, so I have to say I feel confident recommending their grooming services. Kathleen is a sweetie and so is Brianna. I took my puppy there for an extended stay at the Pethotel after interviewing several boarding places. I felt reasonably comfortable that my pet would be cared for there. I'm not so sure that the schedule I paid for was what I actually got. Long story short, I had requested that she be groomed on the pick up day. It didn't happen. When I called ahead of time, the clerk asked if I could wait 4 hours so that they could get her into grooming and it still didn't happen. I had sent her favorite cushion so that she could sleep on it while in her crate and when I got there they said that she had had "an accident " and they hadn't had a chance to wash it. The cushion was saturated with urine. She was boarded for 9 days and was to get so many walks for potty breaks every day, I paid extra each day for her to have time to play with the other dogs. The bill came to $500.00 and I provided her food and treats. And she didn't get to go outside the entire time. When I took her home she kept looking at me like she couldn't believe it was me! I will not be taking her back to Petsmart Pethotel unless it's for less than a 3 days stay. read more
