It's a great store! I love to take the dog(sometimes multiple dogs) into this place. The layout is easy to navigate and it seem like "everything is where it should be" like you can walk in never having been there and kinda already know where to look. Banfield Vet in the back of the store is a REALLY god place too! Very friendly, quick to give doggy treats and it's a quick IN and OUT. Not it the bad way, they take care of your pet and do everything "right and proper", what I mean is that they don't make you wait, and wait and wait... to get you checked in or out. It's all pretty simple. Now, back to the PetSmart part- I called in on a Sunday to check if they carried packs for dogs; like for hiking 'n such. Not only did they only have me on hold for less than 2 mins(I seriously think the girl who answered RAN to go check) but they told me: 1- The Prices. 2- What Sizes they had. AND!! 3- The COLORS!? See they could have just told me "Ya we got 'em" and left it at that. NOPE! they had to go 'n show off how awesome the customer service is at that particular PetSmart. The ONLY gripe I have about this and EVERY PetSmart is that **some** of the prices can be a bit... "inflated" for what you're buying. But, that's every store I guess. I brought my dog in for grooming and he came home with red, irritated eyes and was pawing at them for hours. Even the next day, his eyes were still bothering him and had noticeable discharge. That's not something I expected after a grooming appointment and it was honestly concerning to see. On top of that, his haircut was uneven and not what I expected from a professional service. My dog was taken there today and came home looking like a skinned cat. The body was supposed to be cut low but yet took all of the hair from his ears and tail as well. Ears look like a pig ear. I was disappointed when he was brought home. The manager Jen and store manager Lenny only offered 50% off next cut. The look great guarantee of money back was not offered. Having 2 dogs, I frequent PetSmart quite a bit for pet supplies and treats. I like that the store carries a variety of items and you can find pretty much everything you're looking for. With that said, there's something impersonal about it. I shop at ma and pa pet stores and know the owners and have a relationship with them. Some of these small pet shops are pricey but I'm okay with that because it's a small business. I like supporting small businesses. With that said, I recommend PetSmart but want to ensure that small pet stores are not forgotten, too. read more

Went on-line to determine the price for two - 40 lbs. bags of cat litter​. Didnt need delivery, but PetSmart's website offered free, same day, delivery so my wife figured what the heck and placed the order with delivery. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. We placed the order about 1:30 p.m., and finally got a notification that the delivery would be arriving at 8:33 p.m. PetSmart employed DoorDash to handle delivery itself, and this is where things went sideways. When the driver arrived he just sat there, at the bottom of our driveway. One of the reasons for taking Free Delivery was not having to lug 80 lbs. of cat litter up our drive. I finally walked to the curb to see what was happening. The driver pushed open the passenger door and pointing to the two bags began to speak... SPANISH!!! It has been decades since my high school language class, and I had no clue what the driver was saying. Finally, I picked up the bags and lugged them to my porch. However, the driver continued to speak and I continued to not understand what we were talking about. He followed me up the drive, with me carrying 80 lbs. of cat litter. He kept pointing to his phone which had the DoorDash app open, but it too was in spanish. I apologized, "lo siento", stating that I did not understand, "No entiendo". At this point I had pretty well exhausted my bilingual skills, but the driver continued to speak, and to point to his phone. I used Google to translate that I didn't have the DoorDash App and that my dealings were with PetSmart. To no avail. I finally called the local PetSmart store to try to resolve this situation. While the lady I spoke with was apologetic, she couldn't help me and directed me to the national PetSmart customer service number. The operator at the national number didn't know what to do, so I asked if there was someone there who spoke Spanish. After an interminable wait on hold Tamara answered my call. Again she was very nice, but again she didn't know what to do. Tamara said the driver was supposed to drop the order on my door step, take a picture of the delivery and go on his way. I used Google to translate this for the driver, but he continued to stand there and point to his phone. Tamara summined her supervisor, but that added nothing to the equation. Tamara agreed that this shouldnt have happened, and she apologized, but at this point my wife and I and the driver had been standing out on my driveway for over 40 minutes, and nothing was resolved. Tired of the endless and circular conversations with both the driver and the folks at PetSmart, I gave the driver a cash tip (above and beyond what was already included in the PetSmart order), gave the driver our phone number, told him (via Google Translate) to call us if there was a problem, snd said good night. I hung up with PetSmart (nothing had been resolved) and headed for the door. The driver continued to stand there staring at me as though I had stolen the cat litter from him. Lets it this in perspective. The cost of the order was less than $45. This debacle consumed at least 45 minutes of my time, my wife's time, of the driver's time and the time of at least three PetSmart employees. The store is less than 5 miles from my home, and a trip to have purchased the order and brought it home myself would have taken 20-30 minutes tops... Who is at fault? This is not an immigration debate. However, this is the United States, the entire transaction was performed domestically, and using US currency. I don't care if the driver only spoke Spanish, or Portuguese, or Russian, or Martian; if you come to my door I expect to converse and transact business in English. I can't speak to the operations of DoorDash, PetSmart contracted them for delivery, they were acting as PetSmart's agents for this transaction, but sending a driver who can not converse or communicate is total Horsecrap. PetSmart, as nice as their telephone staff were, is absolutely USELESS! I don't care if they are selling gold bars for pocket change, I will never again do business with them. I know that PetSmart got paid. I'm sure DoorDash got paid. I hope the driver got paid, but at a minimum, someone owes me and my wife for our wasted time and aggravation. Alas, why should I complain. we got PetSmart's feeble and meaningless apologizes, and a life lesson in the real cost of free delivery. read more

Worst place to buy fish! I was just trying to buy a small pleco and some crickets today at the PetSmart in Schererville, IN. I have no idea why the boy in the fish department was acting so rude and so cocky about which fish I should buy. I have never had anyone act like that towards me in a pet store. I have been in this hobby for almost 30 years but he was treating me like some kid buying their first fish. It was very important to him to let me know that he knew more than I do about my own fish tanks. When I told him I didn't need his help he refused to leave me alone. He was so condescending that I told him to forget it I will go elsewhere for my fish. After I said never mind about the fish and was just trying to pay for the crickets, he continued to harass me at the cash register while I was trying to check out. I told him to forget it at least 6 times and he just kept on talking at me. Then the cashier had the nerve to back him up so I had to say never mind the crickets also and leave the store. It was a horrible experience and it really had me shook up. The two employees I dealt with were a joke and so rude and demeaning to me. I will never shop at PetSmart ever again. This place is trash and the corporate executives need to take a closer look at who they hire and how they are treating people. I will only shop at real aquarium stores from now on. read more

My dog was groomed by Presley. The dog hair was a little matted but overall things were going well until she needed some assistance from a fellow grommer. Amanda was extremely cruel and ruff with my dog and tighten the lease because "he needed to be corrected ". I spoke to Liz the manager on duty who did speak to the grommers but took no action to safe guard the animal and did not offer any resolution to the situation other than to tell me we have cameras which meant nothing to me. So after reading some horrible reviews I was scared to take my puppy here (but I gave it a try because I've also heard good things from other people). I have to say that I had the total opposite experience. I was so pleased with how clean & organized the store was, it even had this really nice, pleasant smell. Kathy W. groomed my puppy and I was so happy with her work! My baby looked beautiful, smells sooo good and got perfectly trimmed. She was awesome and the other girl who was there grooming another dog seemed very nice as well. Everyone in the entire store was so friendly and I couldn't have had a better experience. The grooming salon in this store is one I frequent often with my golden retriever. During the covid pandemic, it's been impossible to reach the salon on the phone. So, I paid them a visit to make an appointment. The gal at the desk was in training and needed help to make the appointment which was three weeks later. Three weeks came and i called the store to confirm the time; no answer. So I tried the store. A worker, Alex, answered, he went back to the salon to check on my appointment and there wasn't one on their books. I was irritated as my dog was way overdue for her grooming. Alex told me he would get with his manager and call me back. I thought that was nice of him. I waited three days, no call back. I called again and was left on hold; finally hung up. Tried again; hung up. The Schererville Grooming Salon just lost a consistent customer. I found another salon who got me in quickly and did an excellent job. Disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I like that PetSmart promotes adoption, but this store just didn't do it for me. They were smaller than others. They had no show/obedience/agility leads or equipment. When I asked a sales associate if they had any she didn't even know what those things were....Umm! Where do you work??? Hi, This review has no intention what so ever to insult anyone or to discourage people from taking their pets to petsmart groomer Salon. This review is to bring to your attention that some groomers might not pay attention, clean their tools and be gentle with your pet when they cut their nails or pluck their ears. My puppy is five years old and never had an ear infection and pain right after plucking his ears. Just to let you know, a weak ago he was seen by his vet to take his shots and he was in good health. When I picked him up, he was screaming when I touched his ears although he usually likes me to rub and scratch him around his ears. The groomer said that your pet might be sensitive for a while after plucking his ears. I thought he might be in discomfort because of what the groomer said. Saturday he was upset all night and not eating. On Sunday he wasn't playful and in pain when we get close to his head and not eating. Today is Monday and he was screaming and shivering when I tried to carry him. I decided to check his ears and oh my gosh, yellow puss was coming out of his rIght ear and the left one is super red and has fluid coming out of it. So, I i called the manager and she was nice to offer covering his medical expenses. Of course she tried to blame it at his breed and skin color and I belived her. After he was seen by his vet at Banfield the nurse and the doctor were shocked and after taking a swap and tests it they told me that he caught a bacteria from their tool as his ear has some open wounds where any dirt tools can start an infection. I honestly became soo upset and I felt like I was fooled. When I came out, the manager was so insensitive and still try to blame it on the poor pet that he can't speak for himself asking me: did the doctor say that what he has is from an existing condition? Really!!! She didn't even care that my pet is in pain, he has to be on medicine for 10 days and also uncomfortable. I understand you need to protect your business but be realistic and honest. I should've been a nasty customer and walked in yelling at you for waisting my time, causing pain and trama to my puppy, and for taking a day off with no pay and then she's blaming it on an existing condition???? read more

Fortunately, I called the store and to my surprise, someone answered the phone after hours. The girl on the phone was extremely friendly and willing to pull my order and bring it out to me. The management at this store sucks. They don't care about the animals up for adoption, they only care about the bonuses they get for the adoptions. They just kicked out a rescue group for not having enough adoptions. Really?! How is that helping? Come get your cats out of our cages cause they aren't getting adopted fast enough. This groomers salon is truly, truly, terrible. They not only punished my dog, but he acted different for weeks. He was a puppy that was 15 weeks old. We are new puppy owners, and we did not know he wasn't allowed to come in if he had shots. Well, he had them the day of and the groomers did not ask, even though they (after the fact) said they should have asked about his vaccinations. He was probably in pain, and they told us that they restrained him, blew in his face, etc. This grooming salon is a disgrace to all good groomers. I'm sorry for those that are here, and do a nice job. But, the two women that worked on our puppy, were horrific. NEVER going here again. Punishment should never be an option. read more

I love this store! It is my second home now that we rescued a puppy from their adoption group. The entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and I can get my puppy food, nails grinded, and even visit the vet on the same trip. What makes this place 5 stars, though, is their dog trainers! Both trainers Laurie and Andrea are very professional, knowledgeable, and always go above and beyond in class and even to find products I need. I was struggling with all kinds of puppy issues (haven't had a puppy in years) and their support and expertise has taken a huge weight off my shoulders. I love seeing all the new things my puppy is learning and my puppy loves every second!!! read more
