Well, even after hearing all the terrible rumors about this company, I stupidly fell in love with a…read morepuppy I seen on their website and had to go meet him myself. Drove here today from Chicago to deal with absolute nonsense. First red flag - no prices on any animal in site, leaving a lot of room for scams and immediately creating a sense of mistrust between myself & the employees. While inquiring about purchasing a puppy, one woman had informed me that she did not have knowledge of the prices of the puppies, but I could play with the one I was inquiring about. I quickly denied, as I have no desire to fall more in love with an animal with a ridiculous price. I seen another employee close by, the woman told me the price of this dog was $9,000, but on sale for $6,000. SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. I could not believe it. These animals are living in containers, displayed in the most inhumane way possible. The puppy I drove to this location to meet had feces all over his cage and body, that he'd apparently been rolling around in. Another dog was throwing himself into the walls of his enclosure, desperate to get out for some play time. I'm completely and utterly disgusted by this establishment & I will NEVER return to another location. It's no wonder all of their locations were permanently shut down in the Chicagoland area, the mistreatment and overpricing of these poor animals ensures that they will never find a forever home, at least until they've grown some and got a big "discount" sticker on the front of their window. (Which I also observed).

This is a wonderful small business in Hyde Park. They also have really cool natural treats, like pig ears and similar pet chews, toys and other stuff. If you feed raw, this should be your go-to. The owner is super sweet and helpful and organizes doggy social days from time to time, and she also fosters kitties from Hyde Park Cats, so you might get lucky and pet an adorable kitty up for adoption.

They are rather out of the way for me, even via bus, but they do deliver (but at times it is faster/more convenient to just go there). Due to their size they don't have everything we need for our cat, but they have stuff that the BIG stores don't tend to have: dried meat sold individually, Primal Raw freeze-dried, and Dave's Naturally. This is ideal for fur parents with picky 'children' (and much moolah) who don't want to settle for mainstream, high-preservative pet food. The personal service is a great touch, they have good memories of their customers, and they have been very helpful with us while we tend to our kitty's IBD. If they had slightly longer hours they'd be perfect, but it is what it is.

Thanks to my grandchildren, I have 2 cats, 2 fish, an axolotl, and a bearded dragon (actually…read moremine). I have spent many dollars at Pet Smart buying worms that die, crickets that die etc... The young lady selling me the crickets told me that I only needed to feed the bearded dragon 3 or 4 crickets twice a day. I did a little research and found out that I should have been feeding him, his name is Puff, 15 - 20 twice a day. I was afraid that I might have stunted his growth but he is growing and shedding like crazy since I started feeding him correctly. And that, my friends, is because of... https://www.facebook.com/BrandtsOldFashionEmporium/ I have never reviewed a business but good gosh, the people are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The prices are MUCH better and the food lives - until consumed by my pets. The don't sell worms for the axolotl but there is a bait shop right down the street that does.
