My…read moreboyfriend and I (I'm the girlfriend) went on April 19, 2025 and were so excited to see some dogs. We saw this one dog that caught our eye the most and asked if we could see it. The lady with the blonde hair and nose ring (did not catch her name but probably is Erika or Casey based on other similar reviews) said with a hostile voice and demeanor, " so we actually don't let people play with the dogs unless you have intentions on buying them". Why would she assume we wouldn't buy a dog, we're not the ones working at a pet store? So I told her we did have intentions on buying a dog. After this, my boyfriend confused the name of the dog breed for another and the employee thought today was dog school 101 for Shiba Inu's (the dog we wanted to see) in an incredibly condescending way but I figured at least she was nice enough to explain the difference so I let it go. After this, we said we were still interested in seeing the dog and she asked for our ID which is no problem and then we waited in the play area. 2 seconds later, she comes back and says, "I'm actually refusing to sell you a dog today please get out". When I tell you all I could do is laugh because I had only seen "Karen's" in the wild on my tik tok FYP page but to experience one in person I was honestly speechless. We asked, "why?" And she said "I don't have to give you a reason, you guys are just having a bad attitude" and of course we're not going to waste our time arguing with a miserable person and when there are other WAY BETTER pet stores to give our business to so we left. After the encounter, my boyfriend and I felt it was appropriate to report her to the store manager. But honestly this story gets even better, so just wait! I called the store and asked to speak to a manager and I told her we were just there and I wanted to make sure it was not the lady that "serviced" us and asked her to identify herself. Well she claimed to be one of the managers so I told her exactly what happened, and then she proceeds to say, "I was there the whole time and she has the right to not service anyone she feels like. You guys had a bad attitude from the very start." And I said I wanted her to explain how we were having a bad attitude, I was genuinely confused and she said she didn't have to give a reason to which I said now I feel like we're being discriminated against and then she hung up on me. The manager was incredibly biased and did not even give us potential customers a chance to discuss our side on what happened and dismissed everything that we said. Both lady's at this pet store were the most unpleasant and unprofessional people I have ever, unfortunately encountered. I have been on both scales of superb customer service and not the best, but Happiness is Pets is the worst and it does not even come close to any other bad experience. I guess if you're not their ideal customer with a "certain" look or don't tolerate their disrespect when they don't talk to you like a decent human they will choose to deny you service. My boyfriend and I will happily buy a cute little dog from elsewhere:)

They have made it a point to know our name and our dogs which personalizes our experience there. We have used the We-wash and U-wash services at the store to shine up our pups when they got smelly! The blueberry face wash leaves them so fresh and clean and delightful to smell! With the staff's assistance a few years ago, we transitioned our bullies to some of the best kibble on the market and also have learned a great deal about canine nutrition and dietary needs. Adrian also helped train our first bully who had some issues with other dogs and defiance when we adopted her. We have been able to use the same techniques he taught us with our other dogs and fosters to bring about better harmony in our home!

Banfield Vet in the back of the store is a REALLY god place too! Very friendly, quick to give doggy treats and it's a quick IN and OUT. Not it the bad way, they take care of your pet and do everything "right and proper", what I mean is that they don't make you wait, and wait and wait... to get you checked in or out. It's all pretty simple. Now, back to the PetSmart part- I called in on a Sunday to check if they carried packs for dogs; like for hiking 'n such. Not only did they only have me on hold for less than 2 mins(I seriously think the girl who answered RAN to go check) but they told me: 1- The Prices. 2- What Sizes they had. AND!! 3- The COLORS!? See they could have just told me "Ya we got 'em" and left it at that. NOPE! they had to go 'n show off how awesome the customer service is at that particular PetSmart. The ONLY gripe I have about this and EVERY PetSmart is that **some** of the prices can be a bit... "inflated" for what you're buying. But, that's every store I guess.
