I never joined because I thought they were only for four legged family members. By far the best place to find food for your pets in the area. Now that it seems the cat food pandemic is over they have full shelves of wet cat food and dry cat food. It's the only place that I can find my cats dry food so I stop by quite often. They have a large selection of everything for every kind of pet. Prices are reasonable versus all of the competition. We bring our fur baby with us for the ride and to go shopping with us in the store. The associates are so wonderful with her. Face masks are required for both customers and sales associates. Like like like! I've been meaning to go here for some time, but I've been so used to the Super Mega Pet Store chains like Petsmart and PetCo... this place just kept getting passed up for 'familiarity'. Finally I did stop by while waiting for a table at Jelly and boy am I glad I stopped in for a look see! It's not as BIG is the major pet stores, but it's got a lot to offer. They've got a massive selection of dog treats and bones, Cat stuff galore, the pet food selection seem legit and they have plenty of the 'natural' foods too, and my favorite part - outdoor / active pet items! For outdoor stuff they've got a nice selection. Life Vests, Hike Packs, portable food/water bowls, even Waterproof Sweaters for dogs not adapted for cold/wet weather hikes. Me and my pup are hiking fanatics so we know a thing or two about puppy hiking gear - these guys got the goods. I'll be swinging by here for a new hiking pack soon enough. All of the employees are very friendly and helpful. Looking for something? They'll easily point you in the right direction. Got a question about a certain dog food or which pooper scooper works best? They'll try to answer it or ask someone who knows more about it than they do... easy peazy. I'll admit some of the prices are a little bit higher than the big stores, but not by much, Plus they have sales going on occasion. Been going there for over a year, order dog food online almost every other week for our dogs. Me & my wife both work different jobs with different schedules. So normally show them on my phone her driver's license & credit card on my phone. Now the policy changes a they want me to have the actual in hand. I told them I can show them my license & they said no.they said I can return it & re buy it there.i asked will I still get our discount they said no.i said im getting dog food not drugs from walgreens. Who else wants to take my wife's info. To still my dog food? I told them nicely after I repurchased it I will no longer come back .They said sorry it's the new policy. The staff here is always helpful. I get special order critters for my critters and the special order arrives fresh. There is a lot of staff available to help. PSP has a customer loyalty program - spend $100 get $5. Not a huge amount but a nice little thank you. They have a BIG cat aisle as well as product for rodents and reptiles. We were in this evening and we bought a horn worm for our lizard . When we got into the car we realized it was a tiny worm and went to return it/exchange it for a new one . I have never been so disrespected or felt so degraded in my life!!! I made an appointment to use the dog wash for my two dogs over the phone. I arrive and they tell me that i am unable to use the dog wash because I have two dogs by myself. I politely explained that no one had explained that I needed another person but that's fine I can just wash one dog at a time and leave the other one in the car for a short period of time. The employee said well let me speak with the manager to see what we can do for you because I do see someone made a mistake and scheduled your two dogs but for only one time slot. About five mins later the manager Scott came out very rudely stating there is nothing he can do for me because I am scheduled only one spot and it's not almost 15 mins after my scheduled time. I explained that I was here on time and the employee is trying to accommodate me because it seems as if someone made a mistake and scheduled it for one time slot. He then became very ignorant and told me once again there is nothing he can do for me and to leave his store and never return before he calls the police and tell them I'm trespassing!!! I asked his his name and told him I will be making a complaint with corporate which then he began to laugh in my face and tell me he has nothing to do with corporate because he has franchised the store! I truly love this store, would always come in and get my dog the bagels, recently had to put him to sleep and ended up getting a cat which I know nothing about taking care of a cat, but the manager was so very helpful telling me what I would need, employees bend over backwards to help you find something or answer any questions you may have. I don't feel prices are that high, and even if they are compared to Petco or Petsmart it balances out with the friendliness of the staff and the selection of food and toys available. read more

My family and I went in today to try and find what cat food my uncle fed his beloved cats. My uncle passed away suddenly last week, and my family has been devastated. Keeping the cats in the cats in the family was very important to us, and we want to continue to give them the wonderful life he gave them. We went into PSP knowing that he was a loyal customer, and we worked with heather to find the exact food that his cats ate. She was kind, caring, and so helpful. They have wellness food that is my number one choice. They have good coupons and that saves a lot. They have a huge selection of toys for dogs. The only thing that I wish they had more of is wee-wee pads. They are always low on them when I go and I do not see the bigger ones for the bigger dogs. read more

This place has a fantastic selection of food (more than any other places around here) and the prices are pretty reasonable. What I do not like is the fact that they sell live animals, but luckily they do not sell Dogs or Cats. The staff is friendly. I've never had anyone roll eyes or seem frustrated by my (and other customers) mere existence like at some places. I really drive out of my way to get to Pet Supplies Plus but it is worth it. I bought a dog wash 5 washes for $25 and was told at time of purchase it would expire. I've used 3 and had 2 more to use. I went to the store on 9-20 to use and was told they were no longer accepting those. I asked the cashier if there was a manager around she called the general manager Scott. He came over with a very rude and and yelling about he sent refuse two other people today and they were not accepting them anymore they stopped a couple months ago. I ask him to stop yelling at me and if there was someone else I could talk to. He said no. He was the boss. I asked did they send out or post something saying they will not b accepting anymore. He started again talking loudly and over talking me. So I told him let me know when I can speak because I was not going to get into a screaming match with him. I showed him where I used the in Oct 27 he started talking loudly again telling me he didn't care and they were not accepting them at this point I asked the cashier to go ahead and ring me up for a wash. I also asked for his name he stated Scott I asked if he had a last name He said no. I said so your not going to give me your last name.he said no I'm the only Scott here. I said and ur the owner of this store he then tells me no Joey is. Once again he starts telling me about the dog wash. I told him at were done talking cause he still yelling and pissing me off. He yanks up the dog wash container and tells me he doesn't want my business and I can leave. I've been going to this store for 10 plus years and have returned, price matched and used the law enforcement discount over the years without any issues. Like I explain to him it wasn't about the wash it was his rudeness and yelling. I could not believe the sheer ignorance of the staff there. We went to get a few goodies for my dogs, my kids saw a ferrett. Mind you, they're not little nor are they ignorant. They just had some questions. The snotty girl wouldn't answer their questions, just kept asking "are you interested in buying it?" when they said no, she got really ignorant. I asked if they could pet it, and she said "if you want to pet animals, go to Alsips". we walked out without buying anything. NEVER AGAIN. if you want some of the better brands of pet food, go to Hungry Hound in St. John. They're nicer! read more

The worst customer service ever. I started going here because they have the special brand of dog food I need for my dogs. Anyway, this brand is not discounted so the manufacturer offers a buy 10 get the 11th free. So, for $50 a bag, not a bad deal. Anyway, I get the whole spiel on how it works...the cashier writes in the info needed all I have to do is produce this card showing the up to 10 purchases. Here is the tricky part, it clearly says it needs the UPC codes from the bags. But I was told by what I think was a manager or shift leader that the cashier writing in the date etc of each purchase that I would NOT need to keep the UPC codes from the bags. So, every month I religiously would walk in, buy my dog food, some treats etc...my average bill was around $72 month...you do the math...that is with tax almost $750. Each time I bought in my little frequent buyer card and if I would bother to do that I could have just as easily cut off the UPC codes on my bags when I went home. But I was told DON'T bother. By the way, the same cashiers were there...not rude or anything but just standing there not pricing anything, not doing other tasks...just standing there. They never remembered my name -just a job not an animal lover to be seen. With that said, I walk in for my 11th free bag with a big ass smile on my face and around $30 in dog bones and treats. The cashier-the same numb looking one on the first register asks me for the UPC codes. I tell her what I was told and that I always go thru her line etc. she says very dull like- it says it right here and I say, I was told not to...she calls the manager like person over to further embarrass me that it clearly says to keep the UPC codes- i tell her what I was told...she looks at me sadly and says, I can give you 10% off your bag. I looked at her and said I just can't shop here and left my dog food, treats and bones and left. The sad part is that I was going out of town and I had little food for my dogs. Luckily we live close to Chicago so I searched my phone for a place that sells my brand...I found the best pet store ever-TED's in Lansing, IL a mere 1.8 miles away. They had my dog food and guess what their frequent buyer card says from the manuf...well what it does not say is keep the UPC codes. So, that tells me that these UPC codes really aren't important (I called the manuf sales rep-he too confirmed this!)guess what, at Ted's they even keep my card on file-send me coupons, smile and know my name. They can answer questions intelligently and they take my dog food to my car. I also called the DM for PSP chain who 3 days later returned my call and very dryly scolded me on the UPC codes and said he would honor my buy 10 get 11th free card if I wanted...well, too late. They lost a customer and I tell ALL my friends especially pet owners....Ted's look out for my friends-we are coming!!!! The rep for the dog food honored my 11th free bag at Ted's that same day:) read more
