This is not my regular PetSmart, but this past Saturday I made a special trip to shop here. I'm a recent new dog dad and the rescue group I adopted from, was having an adoption event in the store. Since I was a recent adopter, I filled out some special paperwork and The PetSmart Foundation will make a donation to Needy Paws Rescue. It is good to see a Big Box retailer supporting local charities. Not only do they make the charitable donation, they give the new dog parent a coupon book worth over $350. While I was there, I shopped for a new food for my, Sophia. She had just had an appointment with her new vet and got some new food recommendations. It was good to see that PetSmart carried all three. All three had good pricing, but I chose the brand that is located in STL. The store was clean, well organized and the staff was helpful and friendly, making for a pleasant shopping experience. read more

The staff here is beyond fantastic, especially Jessica, she is empathetic and treats your pet like her own. She does a great job of grooming too. My little guy, a corgi, has high anxiety and separation anxiety and she was able to calm him down by just talking to him and holding him. I am grateful for the staff every time I bring him or my bf's 2 fur baby's in because I know they will be taken care of like the groomers own baby. Dirty fishtanks, bad conditions for the cats, and I have been there when they place cats out on display for adoption on sundays and all the cats are extremely stressed because they place a bunch of dogs right by the cats. I do not recommend going to this petsmart. read more

I brung my pet in to get groomed and he was happy and using all of his legs. I pick him up and he is not using his back legs at all. I have to order him a wheel chair and take him to the vet to hopefully get a solution. I try to call pet smart and get an answer for what happened and they are just giving me the run around. read more

Friendly service but difficult to determine who's working for the actual store and who's working for merchandise distribution companies such as Iams or Four Paws. I kept asking the wrong reps for help in finding a Comfy Cone for my Pug. Although they didn't have the item in-store I was able to locate it online and have it shipped. The store manager was happy to locate the soft fabric protective cone. He offered to order it for me on his handy dandy iPad but I figured I'd save him the trouble and order myself. Petsmart is huge and can be very intimidating if you walk in without some sort of direction. Everything wants to jump into your basket...it's all magically drawn to your wallet. *Take the time to drive to the next closest location.* Spare your pet and yourself the stress and waste of time. I took my senior dog to her 10 am grooming appt. I arrived a couple of minutes prior at 9:58. She asked what we'd be doing today and I said that I had her booked for the most basic grooming and to bypass everything on there and just focus on the ear cleaning and nail trimming. It's an hour slot appt, ear cleaning and nail trimming shouldn't take the full hour. 12:17 I finally got called to pick her up. She always gets a little nervous at pet places with other pets barking, but she wasn't herself when I picked her up. She was panting heavily, had a runny poop and was limping on her front right paw. Cordelia F. was NOT friendly at all except when it was time to pay with their potential of a tip. I have a sweet senior dog who is now limping, very jumpy and is still stressed out hours later even with CBD. Take your pet to a different location. read more

Liars! I purchased a dog bed there about two weeks ago and deliberately confirmed with the cashier that I could return it because I was not sure it was big enough for my Jack Russell. I was assured by a lovely blonde cashier that they would be lenient with the 60 day policy and I could surely return it. When I went back to the store today to return it they called the manager out who would not accept returns under any circumstances during the "current situation." Had they been honest with me I never would have made the purchase. Now the manager suggested I hold onto the dog bed until some time in the future when the policy goes back to normal. WHAT AN IDIOT! I will never shop at a PetSmart again, I don't appreciate being lied to. read more

Fun place to shop for your pets! PetSmart is the place to go for all your pet needs. I have been coming here more often since getting a new puppy and they have all the items I need. In addition to the necessities, they have all kinds of non-necessities like: pet costumes, clothing, carriers, comfy beds, a whole aisle full of toys, wide variety of treats, training items, tons of leashes and collars, and much more! I am a big fan of brick and mortar stores vs. online shopping especially for things like pet good. You can see a variety of items or additional products that you didn't even know existed for pets. The staff at this location are friendly and generally greet you when you enter. They come up to you when you are looking around to check in and see if you need any help. I appreciate this because they are not overbearing, which can ruin a shopping experience. You can take your time and look around, but staff are easy to locate if you need additional help. read more

I took my cat here for grooming and will not be returning. This isn't the nearest petsmart to me, but I specifically went to this location because they do cat grooming. I have a long-haired cat and rather than try to untangle him all the time and risk clipping his nails too short, I would take him to someone who is trained to do it. I would've been better off doing it myself. On almost all of his bottom claws, you can see where they cut right down to the quick. And on one of then, it is frayed! It looks like they just ripped the nails off. Poor guy. You can see pink and red right in the middle of his claws. When I picked him up he was still wet, they said he was afraid of the dryer. Understandable but I might be afraid too if someone had just hurt all my fingers! Plus since they couldn't dry him, he wasn't brushed or anything so he has been shedding all over everything... part of the reason I took him to the groomers in the first place. It's hard to find a cat groomer and the search will continue! read more

I came in as a walk-in client this morning to have a pawdicure for my pup. I left to pay and was only gone a few minutes.The groomer did not perform all the services listed under the pawdicure per their menu; just a nail clip and grind. I asked the groomer about it before I left and she assured me that she did. I wasn't about to argue about it. I left to go give my pup a bath at a self-service dog wash and the groomer on site said the ears were not cleaned. I decided to call the manager about their services and the manager didn't even know what services are offered under the menu. And said I was looking the the pawdicure plus. I have a 9.5 week old wheaten terrier puppy and had scheduled a puppy bath and trim in an attempt to get him accustomed to grooming at a young age. When I dropped him off with the Petsmart grooming staff, I informed them that this was his first visit and they assured me their highest priority was making this experience as pleasant as possible for him. My puppy's appointment was at 9am. At 1pm, when I still hadn't received a call saying that he was done, I contacted the store. They informed me that his groomer had fallen behind, and my puppy would be done in half an hour. Thirty minutes later when I walked into the grooming salon, he still was not finished and another associate (and not the groomer I had specifically booked the appointment with) was still working on him. At that point, it had been 4.5 hours and I decided to take my puppy home despite them not being done grooming. I am writing this review because I think it is important that what happened to my puppy never happens again. It is completely unreasonable to hold a 9.5 week old puppy without food, water, or potty breaks for 4.5 hours, and had I known that this was what Petsmart's "puppy experience" would be, I never would have taken my puppy there in the first place. After my experience there today, I will not be returning there or to any other Petsmart grooming location. I do not normally write reviews, but the experience I had at this store today was egregious enough that I want to make sure no other puppy owner makes the same mistake as me. read more

We had taken Lucy, our dog, here for grooming and emergency room visits. Every time she came home, she had a horrible rash on her stomach and butt. It swelled up and bled. Her nails were cut wrong and she wasn't given the correct cut for her breed. I quit takin her there. My daughter continued even after she saw what they had done time and time again. Dirty clippers! This year Lucy was taken to their indoor Banesfield hospital concerning a huge lump on her left side. The hospital claimed it was just fat. In fact it was cancer and by the time a different hospital caught it, Lucy only had days to live. She passed on 7/12/17. I'll never again leave my pet with them ever again. read more

When I picked my little dog up my dog had a long cut 3 inches long on her stomach that no one told me about. My dog seems different when we brought her home before I saw the cut and was wondering why. The poor little thing I felt so sorry for. We will never take her back there again and would not suggest that place to anyone else. read more

Take your business elsewhere. After years of having no problem grooming dogs that have disabilities suddenly they are enforcing a new policy where a dog who can't stand for the entire duration of grooming will not be allowed to be groomed there. If these were humans being treated this way someone would've probably set the store on fire long ago. The new manager needs to be let go and a complete re-vamping a ball store personnel should take place. Until people start reporting that things are going better- take your business somewhere else you don't need this kind of negativity in your life read more

I would NEVER recommend Banfield. I work in animal rescue and when someone pulled a dog from a Missouri shelter and took her to Banfield for a basic check (heartworm, fecal, etc) she walked out with a bill of over $250! Outrageous! They charged her almost $10 for "fecal collection" and then charged almost $30 for the fecal exam. Really? You charge to collect the feces? They charged almost $10 for the blood collection and then another $30 for the heartworm test. They pushed her to buy a 4-pack of their flea meds (which I won't use -- terrible reviews) and 6 months of their heartworm meds KNOWING that she was not keeping the dog but taking it to a rescue group in another state. HORRIBLE policies and horrible practices. They are not reasonable and there are much better vets in the area. And, to sum it up, an extremely rude person from this Banfield contacted me today (because I called corporate) and told me (in an extremely snotty tone of voice) that once medications are dispensed that is final. She also told me that the foster "accepted" the medications. I explained that the foster is not a dog person and there is no way she would have asked for 6 months of heartworm medication and 4 month of flea treatment KNOWING that the dog was coming to our rescue in a week. They obviously pushed her to purchase those medications and she did. They were much more expensive than what we buy and not even brand name medications. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! They give PetSmart a bad name through their association with PetSmart. PetSmart guarantees 100% money back satisfaction. Apparently, Banfield does not! I also believe that this particular Banfield misdiagnosed the dog's skin ailment and provided an antibiotic instead of an anti-fungal treatment. So she continued to scratch and lose hair. I write the local Pet of the Week for several counties in Illinois and will be advising readers to take their business elsewhere. It seems obvious that Banfield cares more about the business of making money than the business of helping animals. read more

I don't know if it's bad service all the time or just with the Sunday crew. But they are a bunch of morons. The lady tried telling me the package I ordered didn't come with conditioner for my dog. I had to show her the menu to let her know she doesn't know her own job. They refused to fix their mistake and condition him. Later on a couple weeks later I made a huge mistake by scheduling with them again. The same crew scheduled me for 4:30. As I was driving to my apt I get a call at 4:12 saying I missed my spot. Obviously they did that on purpose considering I gave them a hard time because they screwed me over the last time. I never leave bad reviews on anyone or anywhere but this is just ridiculous. If you want things that you have paid for done right I recommend not going to sunset hills pet smart grooming salon. End of story. read more

This was at the Sunset Hills Petsmart in St. Louis Mo on 07/29/2018 around 11:30 am. I tried to book an appointment for my moms dog after my daughter painted her but the grooming staff behaved horribly. The dog was old and a large lab who is sweet but oddly frightened of baths so we prefer groomers to doing it ourselves as she seems to like that better- I got a LOT of attitude while booking the appointment, then the gal literally turned up her nose when we went in and said while we were still right there she hated big dogs because they were so stupid. Then she was rough when she went to take our dog and scared her so bad she peed- we left with our dog not even groomed. 0 customer service skills, that girl should be fired and they made me doubt they wouldn't hurt the dogs. No stars!! The worst!! This is the 2nd time I've taken my 14 year old cockapoo to be groomed here. They held her for 45 minutes then called me to say they couldn't service her because of concern of her eyes. Mind you she's completely blind and her eyes have been in the same condition for over 4 years now. It didn't seem to be a problem 4 months ago when they groomed her. Do NOT get your dog groomed here! We have a one year old Golden Retriever that just needed his legs, tail and belly trimmed up a bit and we decided to go to go here because it was going to be two weeks before we could get him in where we usually go. That was a mistake we will not make again. When we picked him up they had cut all of his hair, and SHORT. It was as close to a total shave as you can get. A real groomer would have never cut a Golden like they did. However, they feel totally comfortable charging you like a real groomer (actually $15 more than the real groomer we should have gone to). Be good to your dog and your wallet and avoid Petsmart grooming!!! read more

Terrible experience today when I brought in my 14-year old chihuahua/dachsund mix to get his nails trimmed. Despite weighing only 7 pounds, he can be a handful, but we have been here numerous times before and they have been able to handle him. The girls in the salon have generally been very friendly and obvious pet lovers. Today, right off the bat the girl never smiled, seemed inconvenienced that I didn't have an appointment, and hurt the dog when she picked him up. When I was summoned to pick him up, they told me they could only get his back paws and they couldn't ever work on him again because he was "too old" and had tried to bite. I asked what I was supposed to do, and they said I would have to take him to a vet. When I responded that I had been there numerous times in the past without incident, another girl standing nearby snottily said "I'm the salon manager, and we can't work on him." Maybe she knows about animals, but her people skills were totally absent. If they can't handle a seven pound dog who's missing half his teeth, it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. I gave a rating of two stars only because I have had good experiences in the past, and they did give me my money back, but be forewarned that the service here is very inconsistent. read more
