I really hate this place. It is a lagre store that is extremely understaffed. I only go there because I have to guy crikits for my spider and they have the size I need. The problen is that I always end up waiting for like 10-15 minutes before someone goes over the the crikit section, even after asking another employee for help. They need more staff to better help customers. Their prices seem to be higher than other pet stores too. read more

Not very happy with the customer service or the quality of product. I went to purchase fish for my established aquarium, and the associate (gray shirt, may have been the manager) did not act as if she really wanted to help us. She basically decided for herself which fish I should get out of the tank (she chose the smallest one), and then didn't select the other fish that I wanted. Without asking anything about my tank or experience (I have successfully kept aquariums for decades, both fresh and saltwater reef tanks), she told me that I should only get a few fish and then I could come back next week and get more. The other associate expected me to purchase a partial background sheet for my large tank, which would have looked terrible as the design abruptly cut off and restarted with a completely different color pattern. She finally did cut off the unwanted portion and let us purchase an entire picture as we wished, but it was not a very pleasant experience. On top of that, 4 out of the 9 fish died the same day, and our water quality and ph are fine. Really disappointed in the poor customer service. read more

I took my timid 50lb short hair dog to the groomers. They started on time and finished within three hours. I couldn't get him up right away and they were happy to keep him there an extra hour with fresh water. When I picked him up I received a detailed description of what products they used and how he handled every step of the process. They were considerate when he was too scared of the dryer and just brushed him until he calmed down and was dry, and they used a file to only round out his already short nails. He smelled great and was super soft. I'll definitely go back. read more

I hate leaving 1 star. Your groomer needs to shut down. My dog was cut after you cut her hair it got infected and you trimmed her nails that also got infected I had to rush her to the doggie er. 2365.00 later she is still weak. I have reported you and found many others with simular cases and yes I will be suing. Yes there is proof because we took pictures in the car on our way just for fun. I have shopped at Pet Smart twice a month, spending over $100/mo, for almost a year since I bought my first dog. They have a great selection of food, treats and toys. My reasoning for the poor review is because of their rules for Dog Daycare. I leave my 10 month old American Staffordshire at home while I work and I trust Pet Smart and I'm a loyal customer so this program was ideal, until I read the qualifications. Here are the first 2 rules: "Who may attend? Dogs at least four months of age Dogs who have been socialized with other dogs but are not of the "bully breed" classification* or wolves/wolf hybrids" While there are many people who feel that "bully breeds" can be vicious and harmful, the loving owners who have these breeds know this is not true. As should Pet Smart. So my loving, socialized, precious baby who would never hurt a fly will not be allowed to attend this day care program because of his breed. I will for this reason alone, no longer be purchasing ANYTHING from Pet Smart. I instead will be switching to Petco, the only other large pet store in Redding. I am so embarrassed for Pet Smart for discriminating against bully breeds. I will make sure everyone I know, learns this shameful fact about Pet Smart. read more

This review is for dog training. Chris is an excellent positive reinforcement based trainer! She is knowledgeable and really pays attention to your dogs personality and individual training needs. Chris was especially patient with our excitable puppy and willing to work around our busy schedule. While Chris is excellent at what she does, positive reinforcement did not work to correct a few of our dog's "bad" behaviors. Gentle corrective training was more successful for those issues. read more

I used to always go to PetCo but I went to PetSmart because I was looking for a certain item and I honestly found the service to be much better. I have found all of the clerks very knowledgeable and helpful. Half of them even remember my dog's name now. That never happened at PetCo. I also like their dog training program. Their instructor, Chris, is great and is the regional instructor for other PetSmart trainers. read more

I'm so upset right now. Somehow ICH got introduced to my fish tank so I got my water tested to make sure the levels were good and they were absolutely perfect. Then I asked the "fish expert" what I should use to treat my tank for ICH. She told me to use a treatment that said antifungal on it. I very specifically asked her at least three times to confirm I should use that one instead of the bottle labeled as Super ICH Cure. She told me every single time that's the one she recommends to everyone because they use it in-house and it clears up ICH on the pet store fish no problem. So I went with what she suggested even though it was more expensive and started the treatment for my fish. I got the bottle in my hometown so I didn't have to go out in the nasty smoke here in Chico but now I have to because her treatment suggestion helped aide in the very quick death of not only one of my absolutely favorite fish but also an expensive one that is hard to replace and I have to replace him. I looked I looked up the treatment she suggested and it plainly states that it doesn't absolutely nothing to treat ICH. I have to go out in hazardous air quality and hope to god I can get the new treatment underway ASAP and hope the rest of my fish don't die either. If my tank had been under the right treatment this fish would not have died. He was doing perfectly fine yesterday with next to no symptoms then this morning he passed away within an hour covered in ICH due to a lack of proper treatment based off what the "fish expert" employee very clearly told me to do. They advertised that the treatment was the correct one and I confirmed multiple times to make sure that it was the "correct" one, each time they told me to use PRIMAFIX antifungal INSTEAD of PRIMAFIX Super ICH Cure. They very very clearly told me that the antifungal would not only kill the ICH but it would also kill any other fungus in my tank. read more

Today I received a voicemail from a Manager at PetsMart who requested to have me return George for additional vet care, etc. This call was appreciated as the gentleman was concerned for George. She would be returned to me (if she made it) and I would know that she was not being resold. However, I received an offer from the specialty reptile shop to have her surrendered to one of their seasoned employees - who will be tube feeding her. I have accepted the reptile shop's gracious offer and greatly hope that she will flourish with tube feeding. read more

I bought a harness and it came up as a penny and the name showed up on the screen so it wasnt altered and she said we couldnt buy it ik many places that if that happends they type in the amount thats said which was 8.75 on clearance and go from there but she was just like you cant buy this and was totally rude. I don't use the pet stores for anything but fish, but this one really disappointed me. Selection is respectable, but the fish are subject to poor conditions. Many fish are crammed into each tank and some look unhealty. Of the two fish I purchased, one of them died after a couple hours. The other was continuously active and healty so I know the dead one was already sick and it wasn't my tank conditions. I would MUCH rather go to petco just down the street. They have healthier fish and don't crowd 30 into into a 5 gallon tank with no decorations or substrate. Also the prices are lower. Don't take my word on it, visit them both. They can't even be a half mile apart on hilltop. read more

Much easier to find what you are looking for than in petco. The prices are much better and the animals are healthier. Staff are friendly and ask if you need help finding anything. It is all around a great shopping experience. read more

Well I loved the lady that rang my purchase up, she was so helpful and suggested things I needed for my newly adopted pet, I wish I knew her name but my experience with "pets without partners" was horrid, these people don't give a rusty rats ass about the animals, all they care about is money! when you save an animal you practically have to sign a waver where they threaten you will lawsuits and money to adopt a dog that needs a home, it's crazy! I feel so bad for these animals, PETS WITHOUT PARTNERS IS ALL ABOUT MONEY, they pack these poor dogs in crates pilled high and unload them like produce. My Cheston (chi/wiener) was in a cage with two pit bulls that where running all over him like a rug, I tried to get him out and they stepped right in front of me with a sign that said "don't touch the puppies" they say they have shots and chips but mine didn't, they are horrible and I feel bad for these dogs, they are nothing but assholes making money of off abandoned and lost dogs, it's sick and wrong! read more

New to Redding huh? Well its nice to see a business come into town and try to make it their own also, hiring locals and providing a service that is needed in Redding. We all to soon love to jump on the (they suck) bandwagon. I have absolutely no connection with anyone who works for Pet Smart other than when my wife or I have visited the store, we have had very nice experiences with every staff member that comes to mind. I would like to mention that my dog loves to go shopping there with me and the staff has always noticed her and made her feel welcome with a treat. I think it's unfair the way people can type and gripe instead of appreciate up beat employees, clean floors with help in all areas whether they know much about crickets or goldfish seems maybe there are areas that can be improved on. Give em a break even though I don't think they need one. Thank you Pet Smart, you have shown me clean floors, respectable staff, stocked shelves and a rare store that you can take your pet with you when your shopping. I usually buy most of my pet supplies here. I bought my dwarf hamster, mouse, here. But his brother and him had TERRIBLE living conditions. Plus, the clerk knew nothing about him. He was supposed to be around 3 months old. In truth he was most likely closer to 1 1/2 years old. He died after 4 months. Soon after we bought another hamster, a long haired full sized one. There were AT LEAST 6 in one tiny aquarium cage. We chose the super active butterscotch one and hes awesome. As for their cages, i had bought the dwarf hammie kit. TINY cage. Not a lot of food. Not a lot of bedding. Not worth $35. As for the next cage, it was just fine for our dwarf but awful for our full size. Oh and it was $40. As for toys i bought very few because it was SO much cheaper to make them instead. Recently, i have ordered CareFresh White Ulta bedding and Vikraft (?) Guinea pig food and the deluxe guinea pig starter kit. The cage is 3.59 sq ft. So i have to make it bigger which is not a problem. It comes with plenty of stuff thats totally worth $65. Basically, their products vary from terrific to ok to terrible. Just be careful about what you get and youll be just fine :) read more
