She really liked him and it showed. He gave her a quick health check. She got a rabies shot (mercury free), got some drops for a minor ear infection and got her nails trimmed. All my pets have been going to Dr. Weiner for about 30 years. He has always been extremely fair and helpful. He's a big believer in real food and basic preventative care. He's brought more than one of our loved ones back from the brink but has never pressured us into expensive procedures with little hope for success. After 9 years of skin allergies, scratching, itching, ear infections, several vets, shots, etc. my Golden Retriever and I found Dr. Weiner. We were able to get in with him quickly and he took an allergy test. He recommended a natural treatment for her chronic yeast infection, instead of expensive drugs a normal vet would sell you. After a couple of weeks my dogs skin has completely cleared up and she's fluffy and happy again. I didn't think I'd ever find a solution, but his help was life changing for me. was referred to this dr by a friend. I read the other reviews and see they are sparkling, so I go. Scheduling is very difficult, because the doc is only on premises 3 days a week, in the afternoon. the facility is very clean, and they carry a TON of food, including raw foods for cats, which are hard to find. the doc is pleasant and listens, and is very confident in himself and his products. that's the end of the positives. I brought my cat in because she has severe allergies, to the point that she licks herself raw. She had been on a steriod for about a year, but the efficacy of that was low with the last two shots. Dr. Weiner had a test that would tell me specifically what she was allergic to, thru food and her environment, so I could perhaps lessen her discomfort by eliminating some things. The doc listened to my tale of woe, while he looked over the paperwork I filled out. he asked me to put her on the scale. he looked at her teeth. he took out the allergy test and combed her to get the fur, then swabbed her mouth. none to gently either. he rubbed her skin and fur really vigorously, looking for flea dirt, which he didn't find, but he kept rubbing until she cried out. he convinced me to purchase a new flea med, becuase "80% off skin allergies are due to fleas", called comfortis. all the rage. turns out it is a pill the size of a dime or the small cat, and larger than a nickel for a cat over 15 lbs (my boy kitty). there is NO WAY that is going down their little throats without being crushed. so i did, and mixed it in food.(btw, we had a conversation about how difficult she was to pill, how she refused to eat food that had stuff mixed in with it), but it was a no go, she wouldn't touch it. my boy ate about half the food and began vomiting. I went back a couple days later about the vomiting and was told, very snarkily by the counter chick, that vomiting is a side-effect of "all flea medications." I have used advantage, frontline, and revolution on my cats for 15 years and NEVER had them barf. A couple days later I was at another store where I have purchsed my pet food since I moved here 8 years ago. i mentioned that I had had the allergy test done at the docs. the counterperson said they had the same test. For half of what the vet charged. I told her that i paid $150 for the test, she said well that included the office visit, right? i said nope, another $60 for the office visit. and then another $100 for 6 flea treatment pills that I couldn't use. Can't sell either because they are prescription. I understand being in business to make a living. I have a small business myself. you listen to a vets' recommendations because they are the professional. But I feel that the charges were excessive for what i got, and in the case of the flea treatment, I feel deceived. i started to take my french bulldog here after a friend explained to me how much he loves dr wiener. My dog was having allergy problems. dr wiener gave her an allergy test that showed us everything she is allergic to so we could change her food regimen. unfortunately we had to start her on a raw meat diet but besides that shes doing much better. the office here in redding is very clean and sells all sorts or organic dog and cat foods . plus supplements and whatnot . would reccomend to anyone . read more

I can see why he was so highly recommended. He is very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. So is the rest of his staff. I was amazed by their knowledge of pets as well. I went into the store to find a solution because my Boston Terrier had the runs. I had tried some things I found on the internet but he still had the runs. The clerk was very nice and suggested that I continue to give him his regular food but put in some probiotics which I purchased at the store. She gave me sensible suggestions and the next day my dogs was doing much better. I never thought I'd get so excited seeing my dog's poops. It sounds stupid but with him having the runs for 5 days, the poops were looking good. I like the holistic approach to any kind of medicine. The idea is to treat the root of the problem and not so much the symptoms. I'll be coming back for my pet care needs. read more

I love that Dr. Wiener is very kind and genuinely caring. So let me stress that this bad review is NOT ABOUT THE DOCTOR. It's about his staff. One lady in particular but I don't know her name. My fiancé and I have a dog with many allergies, we've known about her allergies for about 6 months, and with everything she is allergic to, we are constantly trying to memorize them, but always go to her chart at home whenever in question. Today, we wanted to get our dog a new treat, and was not 100% sure if she was allergic to buffalo. The lady at the front proceeded to talk to us in a tone as if we were stupid saying "This is why we printed you her complete chart" "for you guys to KNOW what she's allergic to" Seriously?? We are working our way towards completely knowing her allergies but it's going to take a while!!! Excuse my language, but where the hell does she have the right to act like that when all we ask is for her to make sure for us since we didn't have her chart at hand?? They were not busy, so she had no reason to have an attitude about looking our dog up. If she's having a bad day, that's fine. But you do not take it out on the clients/customers. The past couple times we have gone in there she is always rude and short with you, and snarky. And that just gives bad and unneeded vibes. I'm actually really upset about this. While the products and vet on staff might be wonderful, hiring the young lady that sits at the front desk was a bad choice. I have been in this store numerous times to see "MISS Tiffany Box" who also boasts herself as "awesome office manager", be not only narcissistic and condesending to customers, but be down right rude. I witnessed her on the phone rolling her eyes, making a fist like she was going to punch someone, and the outright told this customer she didn't understand and couldn't help them. The next time I watched her and a female coworker making faces/fun of a customer behind their backs. And the third time I over heard her tell a customer that since she had given them too much information for them to handle for one day regarding pet care, that they would have to come back some other time to be filled in on what to do next. (Like basically they were too stupid to learn all in one day ????) While I believe this business is a good one, making fun of a customer behind their backs and the lack of profesionalism was too much for me. I will not be back. read more

I have been going here for foods, supplements and advice for over 2 years. I've always found the front staff very informative and courteous. I have never actually brought my cat in for care but I have seen the Veterinarian interacting with his clients and staff and he always seems very kind, happy and wonderful. When transitioning a pet to raw foods, if you do not do it right you can harm you animals, so the staff has to be very informative, I can see how some people would perceive this as poorly. The first time I was in asking about raw food, I got a lot of information, it was overwhelming, but any time I had a question, they have always been very helpful. Those girls at the front just want to make sure people know what they are doing. My cat is THRIVING now that I have him on the diet recommended from the front staff at Pet Care Naturally, I have NEVER seen him doing better!
