Redding, CA I met Chris when I went to PetSmart to see what I may need for my new pup. She really impressed me when she started to show photos of previous owners and students and remembered details about them, showing her love for and pride in them. Her enthusiasm for what she does was couldn't be more apparent! Chris talked to me about how she trains using positive reinforcement and it sounded great. Today, Happy graduated from his beginner class! He had so much fun and learned a ton. I usually have trouble getting him out of the car. But, when he sees we're at PetSmart, he makes a beeline towards the door and can't wait to see his trainer, Chris! When it's time to leave, it takes quite a bit of coaxing. DON'T TAKE YOUR DOG TO PETSMART! We called to make an appointment and at the time I told them our dog was 13 and had difficulty standing for any period of time so it was not necessary to dry him! to avoid any unnecessary discomfort. Bianca was recommended. Well Emilie was the incompetent who bathed him and made him stand for 30 minutes and when he tried to sit down because of being in obvious stress, she would make him stand up again. Absolutely no excuse for that. She then had the nerve to send a report card home and mentioned his un cooperation. Well, I sent her back a report card F!!!! when I went to deliver my report card to her and asked her one question,WHY? She said she was under pressure to finish. How dare PetSmart handle their clients that way. To the point when my husband picked him up. He could hardly walk. We had to take him to the vet, and they suspect damage to his muscles from making him get up and down! I asked to speak to the manager, of course he wasn't in. I left my name and phone number, and he never returned my call. I will particularly give Emily the biggest tip she could ever receive! GET OUT Of THE BUSINESS!!' We had Chris as our dog trainer, we attended 4 training and my puppy, now a dog is still very well trained. We took Sierra's rug, a water bowl, a stuffed toy and her leach. To update my one star review I returned to PetSmart to get a couple specific fish they had that I thought would look great in one of my tanks This time my experience was completely different than my last reviewed experience I was helped by three separate employees They asked the appropriate questions about the tanks I have, their size, and the other fish that were in them. The difference was their attitude and demeanor was professional, and I felt like they genuinely cared about the tanks I had in my house, the other fish that I had, and what environment I was going to provide for these fish. They took time to discuss the fish I was looking at and the interactions they would have with other fish in my tanks The fish I chose worked out perfectly in my tank and the employees agreed they would be a good fit (I definitely do my research before I add fish to my tanks) Thank you, PetSmart employees for doing your job in a positive and helpful manner. Chris the dog trainer at PetSmart does a great job of training! She is always showing a positive training approach and really connects with all of the dogs in her classes. They love her! She was the trainer with our first Australian Shepherd, Pebbles, 13 years ago and we had so much fun we took several classes with Chris. Years later if I took Pebbles with me to PetSmart, she would remember Chris and walk right up to her to say Hi! (and get a treat. ) We have a new Australian Shepherd puppy and I am so glad Chris is back at the Redding PetSmart so I know exactly who to go to to give our new puppy a wonderful positive training experience! We signed up our puppy, Gus, for training classes with trainer Katie and we're so happy with the results! Katie made sure to spend time with each pet parent to address any concerns we may have run in to throughout the week between classes. She was so patient with Gus and really made the training experience super fun. I was only planning on taking the puppy class but after seeing how much Gus improved with Katie's instruction, we have signed up for the intermediate classes to continue his education with Katie. My little Chihuahuas have been customers of the grooming department for 10 years now I recently got a new puppy four years ago and had been bringing him there but then I left for a while because the groomers had mistreated him. And said he was mean and tried to bite them, which is incorrect. When Melissa M came on she called me, took it upon herself to say what's wrong what happened? So I went in there for filter cartridges for my turtle. I saw that they had a filter systems on sale so I grabbed a new system because they were 50% off. I checked the upc code and it matched the product # on the box. So When the item was scanned it was at full price . When I informed them of the sale price. I was told to see Melissa in grooming by my family, and she is AMAZING! My shelter dog has come a long way, but he still gets nervous. Chris helped train our pups almost 11 years ago and when we got a new puppy we headed back to PetSmart! How wonderful to see that she is still teaching dog moms and dads how to get along with their puppies! Chris uses positive reinforcement with the dogs as well as the owners. She is very patient and kind and has a deep understanding of the many breeds. What a wonderful trainer. Our last two dog grooming appointments have taken far too long, at least double the amount of time quoted. Last time when we returned to pick up the dog at the anticipated time, she hadn't even been touched and no one could locate the person who was supposed to do the grooming. I don't know why so many people say the employees are rude. Every time my husband or I go to this Petsmart, everyone is super friendly and helpful. Honestly it's the main reason I shop there. It's the only place where I know they will be nice and help me find the best item for my budget. Petsmart does NOT deserve the one star reviews that are only complaining about "Pets Without Partners".. that is a separate program. As for their groomers, I haven't used them so I can't say if they are good or bad but I have heard horrible things and will never take my dogs there. I got a free dog training session and had no problems, the trainer was very nice and patient with me. I bought fish from there and yes, they do reccomend larger tanks because it's better for the fish! So far, they have been right about everything. Bought 11 tropical fish from here about 3 weeks ago. Over the next week or so all the new fish died. Decided to give it two weeks total to see if my original fish were harmed but none were. Went back to PetSmart since they have a reputation for a fairly decent guarantee. Well, forget any guarantee or even passable customer service. The employee I first spoke to agreed that it was within the 30 days. Since there were too many that had died, though, she had to get a manager. She demanded that I bring in the dead fish for some reason and decided that the guarantee was only two weeks and, oh, sorry, but the two weeks expired "THIS MORNING AT 12:01 MIDNIGHT" so there's nothing she can do. Oh, Boohoo for you. Be very careful of this business. They change the guarantee, refuse to honor any commitments made by the store and will find something, anything, to be grounds to ignore any of that. So I have to eat the cost of 11 dead fish that were obviously sick when they sold them and those horrendous policies were probably used successfully to rid themselves of anyone else that complained. read more

I used to buy all of my fish from PetSmart in Redding. I won't anymore since, recently, three of the fish I bought there had ICH. Two of those fish were Bettas. So DON'T buy your bettas from PetSmart. Go to Petco...you can tell that they change their water bowls more frequently. Now that I think of it, I have seen one or two dead bettas that were on display at PetSmart, and I had to bring it to the attention of an employee. I'm sad to not go there anymore, since it had always been easier to find someone to help me in the fish department. read more

I usually go to small/private groomers, but they were booked for awhile. I took my gentle American Bully girl to Petsmart, first mistake. The woman that handled my dog was a little aggressive and mean to my dog. I've heard about her, and was hoping to get somebody else. Would not recommend their services unless you are promised to another groomer. They don't tell you on the phone who you have, but her name was maybe Maggie, or similar, but definitely with an M. I went back over by the windows and noticed she was also snarky to the other employees. Never again. read more

Chris is excellent as a dog trainer!!! I had first my boxer Roxy then my Italian Spinone Kara in her class. I was able to walk them loose leash, no pulling. I really enjoyed my dogs after her classes I'm now signed up to do Joey, my Tibetan Terrorist.....I mean Terrier. I know after a few sessions, he too will walk without pulling, come on command, etc. Can't wait to start. Chris, hands down, is the best dog trainer ever!! read more

DO NOT ADOPT A PET FROM PETS WITHOUT PARTNERS HERE! We adopted an adorable dachshund from here a few weeks ago. The Pets Without Partners website claims "All of our pets come micro-chipped, vaccinations and a clean bill of health." Guess what. They lie. Our poor dog has tapeworms (they said they had dewormed him) and HEARTWORMS. Treatment for heart worms costs $800-$1500 and the "insurance" that he came with will not cover it. When we called Pets Without Borders we were told that they will cover the deductible of $75. Thanks. I'll see you guys in court. read more

Spoke with Sarah today, who "helped" me purchase a fish. I told her what size tank I had, and she practically attacked me for wanting to put a fish in a tank that "wasn't large enough for the fish." A size tank that I had upgraded to because of interaction with a past employee who informed me that I needed a larger tank for my fish. I have since done my research and have more knowledge about the kind of fish I am keeping. And size of tank needed. I have knowledge about the fish I keep. And though it's the smallest version that really is acceptable for my goldfish, I didn't need to be attacked and treated like a criminal by some employee for trying to purchase a fish from the store. Fish are for sale here right? My fish is happily added to my tank with my other fish, whom I've had for a few years, and is happy happy happy. Our poor hamster barry weve had for 2 years has a tumor now and is dying, i went to pet smart to try to find a baby that looked like barry to replace him. When i told the girl there that story she said well my hamsters are 4 years old and i take good care of it and they have tumors... she said this in a condescending way mind you.
