Staff and volunteers were both passionate and ingratiating: They took the time to introduce each pup and talk to interested families. When the line at checkout started to build, one of the employees didn't hesitate--immediately opened another register without being asked. Customer Service!! Its hard not to see how different someone is treated as you're checking out. Customer in front of me received a Welcoming smile, Hi how you doing and small talk. Once it was my turn HIS light just went off, He Looked so friendly as I had admired all the ink he wore. No Hello, no smile so i said Hello and no response!! Sad! By the time he was done I was ready to just leave Never will I stop at this location, Nor will I recommend it! Tail area was completely shaved off and the dog had absolutely no hair left. They just shaved her completely bare. I have NEVER been so disappointed with any groomer. I contacted the store about this and never heard back (after 4 days) so I'll post my review here. I brought in my toy poodle for a basic grooming ($54-ish). Right away I was upsold for the better shampoo and conditioner, and a special "Package" that included nail grinding, a holiday bandana and a "gift". I don't recall the other "extras" offered. I asked for shaved paws and flaired "boot" legs. I picked her up as I was racing to a meeting. Her fur looked beautiful, (thus a star) BUT, no flaired legs, no shaved feet, no nail clipping and grinding, no bandana or gift, AND they didn't trim or clean her butt or lady bits! She actually had a small 1/4" turd under her tail. And for this, I paid $98.00!!! I complained and got no response. Thus they significantly over charge and under perform. read more

The grooming staff at the Palm Desert California PetSmart is the worst! I was trying to talk to my groomer about my dog's nails and she cut me off when I was talking so I politely said could I please finish what I was saying. She copped an attitude, and when she finished my dog's nails, they were square and frayed out, and I just asked if she could take the Dremel to the sides and get the feathering of the nails off. She again told me how she knew how to do nails. The manager chimed in that they couldn't cut them any shorter when I never once asked them to cut them mini shorter she began giving me a rundown of how the nerve and the dogs nail blah blah blah. I had another dog to be fully groomed after that, and she said that she did not feel comfortable, grooming my dog and refused me service. I came in an hour early when they called me to see if I could come in. I was paying for the express I bought a little hood for the stress reducing method for my dog. Rudest, impolite, the worst service I will never go back. I called the manager and told them I would not be paying for my service because I didn't get what I asked for. avoid this business. I took my 4 month old Havenesse puppy to his 3 grooming appointment (first here) after 4 hours I was able to pick him up (I waited at the store for 1.5 hours as I was told 2-3 hr} when I arrived after 3 hours I watched as 2 store employess chatted the ladie while she grommed my pet for 40 minutes, after he came out I was pleased with the intial cut, however within 2 hours of returning home I noticed his right eyed completly closed up, I immediatly contacted the store and spoke with the ladie who groomed him who stated " it is probley just hair in his eye and flush it with water". on saturday morning it was oozing puss and I contacted our vet. I went into the store today to speak with the manager she stated " I am new and was just hired", while I was speaking with this manager an employee from the saloon continualy made rudecomments, after ignoring her for the deration of the conversaation she still contimued at which point I told then manage that NO owner of a pet abused in this state shoul;d be spoken to this way by an employee!. I have NEVER in my 57 years dealt with this level of rudness least it be regarding my puppy who now has an eye so swelled he cant see out of, though it whas begun to get better he will be going to the vet first thing in the am. Take my post as you will but if you take your dog thier for grooming and this happens do not be surprised, trust me spend the extra money and go to a TRUE salon. read more

The employees have a choice between being fired or going to the other store on Monteray, with FEWER hours and LOWER pay. PetSmart I would have to say they are very good at what they do. Max Patrick my Havanese he loves going to PetSmart, his groomer is Norma. Norma understands his illness so she takes it real easy with Max Patrick, she takes her time, he is a happy camper when he gets home. PetSmart has some very inexpensive stuffed animals you can buy before you pick up your dog, you can praise them for being such a good boy or girl when they get home. You do get your money's worth with their grooming. Let me add that they opened up their vet services. I was very happy to see his vet came from PetSmart in Palm Desert. It's not a Banfield Vet Clinic, it was opened by PetSmart and his vet is wonderful, she is the one that found his cancer from Banfield in Palm Desert and referred me to a cancer doctor in Palm Desert Dr. Huber. Max Patrick had his surgery by Dr. Huber, it was unfortunate that the cancer cells had already spread before his surgery, It's been over two years since his surgery and Max Patrick is going strong and is not suffering at all. read more

I like this petsmart for its convenient location and friendly employees. Because I'm not able to reach Petsmart general customer care line (it simply hangs up on you) I'd like to leave some feedback in case it's helpful. Paper bags are useless. Mine broke while I was carrying my pet food up some stairs, spilling out and onto the ground below and also making my trip up the stairs a bit dangerous. Additionally- The requirement to have to use my pin in my debit card instead of being able to use it as a credit card feels like a security issue for your customers forcing them to enter their pin in a public place. Just my 2 cents and hope it might be helpful to the store for their future consideration. read more

There is one groomer there, we have no complaints about the job she does. We have been taking our pets there 2 years now, and she is one of the rudest people. We should have stopped a long time ago, we only continued because it was affordable and she did not do a bad job. She wants a tip, she treats you based on how much tip you give her and that should be the other way around. She will make you wait if you show up 5 minutes early and then demands you pick the pets up immediately when she calls and they are not ready when you get there. She snippy, uncommunicative about how things went etc. she refused to do one of our cats because it was being a grumpy cat (she has been groomed monthly for over 10 years). Now she knows we are unhappy and it's are last day, so she resorts to playing games and refuses to call us and tell us our pets are finished and we need to pick them up. NOT recommended. read more

Horrible service. They double book the groomers. I walked in and someone else had an appointment at the same time with the same groomer. So my small dog that went for a bath and brush took over 2 1/2 hours and I'm not even sure he got a bath. He does not smell like he had a bath and his feet were still dirty and his beard was still dirty and still had a small mat that wasn't brushed. The groomer was late on top of it. read more

Which was a great relief because she had gotten car sick, and putting her in the car to drive to the other location wasn't an option. She took great care of her and she was so nice. Great store to shop at. Small Mom and Pop feel. The cats and kittens that are housed there are always well taken care of. Walked in and was not greeted at all, then proceeded to wait at register to make a return. I waited for so long and employees kept ignoring me while I was waiting. Finally got helped and then another customer walked in and the employee who was helping me instead decided to help them while I waited there which seemed to feel like forever. Then nagged at me for the other customers attitude which I did not care to hear!!! Employee didn't seem to know what they were doing and had to repeatedly do the transaction twice. It was all a waste of time. I let out one slight cough and employee looked disgusted by me, she stepped so far away from me and didn't seem like she wanted to continue to help me and was even looking for another employee to finish helping me instead. It wouldn't have taken any longer than it should have if she knew what she was doing in the first place! Extremely horrible experience, I will never shop here at this location ever again! my original review was removed by yelp for not giving enough detail. so here is the detail. yesterday while purchasing some treats I was asked for my pet smart card, I replied i did not have one nor did I want one. The cashier whom told me his name was "James the manager" then asked me for my phone number, I gave it, thinking he needed it for ... reasons. when he asked my name he told me I would save money, I said I did not want to give my info. "James the manager," responded to me with "then you won't save money." 3 times he argued, I felt lectured, patronized and it was upsetting. Then when leaving, as I was walking out the door, he said loudly "I hope you have a better day." Again I was left with being disrespected and antagonized. #sexism or just bad customer service, you choose. I even had a 22 minute conversation with the district manager of James the managers, in which he supported my complaint with antagonizing me as I left the store. What about yelp removing my original review stating I did not give enough detail, well here it is everyone. if you take to yelp and give your opinion and pet smart thinks it does too much damage then it gets removed and yelp supports that. I have been shopping at this location for a few months but today is my last visit here. In fact, my visit ended in a call to corporate regarding the staff members who yelled at me calling me a rude person. Apparently one of the managers was giving me additional discounts, which of course I never complained about, except they weren't completely legal. He was marking down my dogs food as if it was about to expire. The issue was that the other employees didn't know how to do the discount and I wasn't even sure how they were doing it, until we looked up my previous receipts. At Petco, they Do not charge for their coupon books but I felt pressured when an associate named Mindy sold one to me. She did it without my consent originally and made me feel pressured after she said that I would receive no discounts if didn't purchase it. When I complained on this last visit, she started screaming at me, in front of he manager Brittany, who did nothing except tell her to go to the back of the store. Then another employee, Rachel, a dog groomer, started saying that I was rude. Really? I have never interacted with you in my life?! All of this was being done in front of the MOD named Brittany. At this point, I called corporate who stated that they would investigate and call back with a resolution. My resolution is to not shop there or at any PetSmart again. read more

I was in this Petsmart at the same time reviewer Lisa D. was there and witnessed it all. The store manager is always polite, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I frequent this location often simply because the manager's customer service skills are second to none. His employees are trained well, too. He did not sexually harass Lisa D. like she is claiming with her slanderous review... quite the opposite, actually. He even told her to have a wonderful day more than once as she was leaving and yelling at him.
