It seems that the staff are kind of rude. It seems like there's a revolving door here booking online for a specific person. You never get the person you want. Also arriving on time they are never on time.. be lucky if your dog gets the same cut some cuts are OK and some are horrible. Also, you have people coming there that don't have an appointment. My dog goes to petsmart since he was born, the convenience has kept us there all these years but we were getting upset with the results of his haircuts, nail trims and teeth brushing and we started to look for other groomers and obviously this is the last time we are taking our baby there because they scratched his cornea, when they called to let us know he was ready she said it was a hair that got into his eye but she flushed his eye and he was fine but when we picked him up he was not opening his eye, we took him to the vet the next day and that was the diagnose. Petsmart should not been in business anymore and yes shame on us for not finding something better as soon as we saw the bad attitude and the awful results of the requested services :( read more

Awful! Got overcharged for services wasn't ordered online at booking, nor were they actually performed. BUT THE WORSE WAS THE PHONE CALL AT 4:26. your dog is ready to be picked up, and we close at 4:30. The attitude on the phone and in person of Alexis was absolutely awful. She basically said I did receive a notification before the phone call. I did not. And patronizing me. "for future reference "..... I was in there because I wanted to compare inventory to Petco, even though it's Petco super close to me. Go down to Connecticut Avenue and almost miss it because it's been years since I've had a pet and I've never noticed it before, but I found the place and walked in and how large it was I said, I'm sure I could find when I came for which I did immediately found it. I was looking for some other things and I happened upon this nice gentleman by the name of Joe Sayers, he was able to help me find a few more things and we talked about Petsmart's training which is cheaper than private training. Do NOT do business with these people!! I called to make an appointment for grooming for my small Wheaton Terrier. She already has short hair and it should be an easy appointment. First, as soon as I called, the groomer put me on hold without warning. Then five minutes later she answered like she was answering for the first time and obviously forgot she had put me on hold. Then I asked her for a quote and she put me on hold again for another five minutes for zero reason. Then the woman REFUSED to give me a quote without giving her my phone number. So I asked to talk to a manager. Of course I was put on hold. This time for 15 minutes until it was obvious she wasn't picking back up and I called the main store. I asked for a manager. No manager. I asked the person for a quote. He said he would need my phone number. I told both people multiple times I have never been there and did not have an account so they do not need my number yet. All I wanted was a quote. I finally got a quote for my dog: Shower and a cut: $79.00 without tax I asked why it was so high and he said that was low. I told him that Petco offers a shower, cut, and ear cleaning for $55. I asked why it was so expensive. Then he got combative and said he would need to verify that price. I asked why it mattered and he said he could match it if I could prove that price was offered to me. I said "if you can match that amount, why are you overcharging people?" He said he actually wouldn't match it, he just didn't believe me. Wtf? Is this how people conduct their business? Being rude, putting people on hold three times for no reason, refusing to give quotes without being provided with personal information, overcharging people, and then getting combative because you told them their competitor doesn't charge that much and actually offers more. DO NOT support this business. Go to a private groomer or Petco and save yourself a headache. read more

I am making this review for my experience from the Petsmart grooming. DO NOT BRINGS YOUR DOGS HERE!! If I could give this 0 stars I would. We had an appointment for our two dogs just only for a bath today at 1:30pm. We normally go elsewhere but have brought our dogs here in the past many times and they really needed a bath asap. The girl checking us in was so very rude (I don't know her name but she was younger with light brown hair. We were told that she may have been the grooming manager by the petsmart manager). We caught a bit of sass when we first started speaking with her as we were signing paperwork. We simply asked is it possible for our dogs to stay in the same kennel (since they have done this before for our pets), the girl said no, looked at us funny, and asked us again if we were sure we been here before. We said yes and brushed it off. She then took one of our dogs (the cockapoo) to the back and then came for the second dog to get her checked in. She asked us if this dog was a mixed breed and we told her no, she is a pure Chinese crescent, just with hair. She then looked at her and said "im putting her down as a cockapoo because of her weight." We again told her that's not what she is, and told her this is the breed she's always been and has been put down as Chinese crescent ever since she first started coming here as a puppy. They argued with us over our dog's breed mainly because she weighs a bit more than your average Chinese crescent. I honestly think they were looking for reasons to up the charge. Then her coworker pulls out a book of dogs and points out a Chinese crescent powder puff saying that this is what this dog is supposed to look like. Our dog is a little more plush and we keep her hair short to prevent tangles. She is not a show dog so will not look exactly like this. The girl then rudely said "I'm not finding any record of you ever coming here" and that they "no longer have records before 2012" which is irrelevant, because they had been here after that. How is it now suddenly you are not seeing us in the system? The rudeness just kept escalating to the point where we just took our dogs back and will bring them elsewhere for business going further. To be honest, this was not our first bad experience here. When we use to bring all of our dogs here in the past they would like to complain to us about how difficult they are. Not every dog is going to be easy to groom and they should know this. I was even told once to bring one of our other dogs elsewhere because he's too big and difficult to cut nails. Petsmart needs to do better and hire people that actually likes what they do and have better customer service skills. These people had none at all and need to be let go. Also, the grooming area was filthy with hair all over and no one cleaning up. I highly recommend to avoid this place and to bring your pets to a groomer that will treat you and your pets respectfully. read more

Overall terrible experience. Paid over $150 to have my Bernese Mountain dog groomed and would have been better off spending that money on a pair of clippers for myself. They advertise that they take dogs of all sizes, but they are blatantly not experienced or equipped enough to live up to this promise. When I went to pick up my dog I had to wait for 10 minutes while they complained about how terrible he was. Meanwhile, he has never had an issue at a Vet or groomer in the past. When they finally brought him out I noticed how bad the haircut was, and to add insult to injury they didn't even brush him after the haircut. He was severely itchy and made an absolute mess of my car and house due to the clippings they left on him. My dog looked terrified when he was brought out and even flinched when they went to take the grooming leash off. Meanwhile, one of the groomers is telling me I need to train my dog while she is roughly manhandling a smaller dog on the grooming table. I am not here to make any accusations, but do what you will with this information. I will be working to get a full refund and will not be returning to this location. Wow the past two times I have been to this Petsmart no one is around to assist. There is always just one person at the register and that's it. The fish tanks are always dirty and fish are dying. This place has changed so much. I was there today and literally 5 employees gathered just talking not doing a thing but wasting time and not going around seeing if anyone needed help. Absolutely NEVER bringing my dog here again. The one time I brought in my barely two year old dog in, she gets nicked by the groomer and rushed to the vet. I was told a large dog was causing commotion in the grooming room and was out of control which was why the GROOMER nicked her. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Never again. Not to mention, the haircut was awful. I made it very clear my biggest concerns, for example to clean up my dog's paws, and odd enough that was one of the WORST things about the cut. Didn't attend to that AT ALL, didn't cut it but instead cut the rest of her body. My dog left in a cone and medication that needs to be given for the next week. Hated this. Area was filthy as well, as soon as I walked in, you could hear a bunch of dogs just barking and barking endlessly. There was hair everywhere, overall very unorganized. If you need your dog groomed, never EVER bring them to this location. I went for a very basically nail clipping for my 1 year old French Bulldog - front nails only which i explicitly stated. He has never growled or barked at a human being or another dog in his entire life. He is friendly and a very easy dog who went back with the technician bouncing happily. All of a sudden I looked through the window and noticed the woman holding his back legs in a completely unnatural position filing the back nails, with my dog barking wildly and growling. She filed the back nails which I had just said not to do well beyond the pink part, meaning he was likely in excruciating pain. The staff was rude and unprofessional and clearly wildly inexperienced. When I went back in the manager asked if I wanted to "stop the circus" and said I would need to get sedation from my vet in order to do the nails - meanwhile he's had his nails clipped over a dozen times with no issue. While they did refund the service, the front nails the only ones I asked to be clipped were not done, and his back nails are almost non existent. I asked why they filed instead of clipped and they said they are unable to clip them when they are that length which is shocking and blatantly not true since he has exclusively had his clipped and never filed. I would never ever bring your dog here for any grooming service with their current staff in place, and have subsequently filed a formal complaint with PetSmart. read more

DO NOT BUY FISH FROM THIS PLACE . I recently went to this PetSmart to pick up some cheap plants for my 70 gallon community tank. When I went to the fish department I was extremely shocked to find algae and dead fish in EVERY SINGLE TANK. I currently have 13 fish tanks (6 saltwater, 7 freshwater) and I have been to almost every fish store in southern connecticut and this is the worst one I have seen. They also have a "display" 3.5 gallon betta tank with a ROTTING dead betta. In the betta cups about half of the bettas were dead/dying and It looked like none of them had ever had water changes. They should shut down the fish department if they are going to keep killing fish and not taking care of them properly read more

I have been taking my dog here for about a year now....really trying to find a reason why I should continue. The employees are friendly, however, this is one of the most unorganized places I have ever dealt with. Extremely frustrating. They advertise walk-in nail grinding appointments, so I thought it would be a good idea to take my dog during my lunch break. They told me I had to wait 10 minutes (not exactly what I would consider a walk-in, but whatever) and I figured that was no big deal. Next thing I know, 30 minutes had gone by and I couldn't even go inside to ask what the deal was because they still follow a 1-person at a time rule. A line had formed outside of the door and I didn't have the time to wait anymore as I needed to return to work. This place needs to seriously update their protocols because it is extremely inefficient and messy. This was just my most recent visit - there have been a handful of other visits that resulted in some unwanted frustrations. Might be time to take my dog elsewhere. read more

The staff are friendly and willing to help. I was looking for something specific and the staff member overheard me and handed me what I was looking for in less than a minute. The selection of leashes for dogs is nice, except the amount of reflective leashes was disappointing. At the register, there was a sign to donate to veterans and their service dogs and it said to "donate at register." I asked the cashier about how to donate and he had no clue. It would be nice for the staff to understand how to process donations, especially when it's for such a good cause. read more

First, groomer took almost 5hours for grooming. She never apologize about late. My dog's both paws was bleeding and she looks like homeless dog. I asked teddy bear style and cut her paw's hair like poodle. Groomer kept excuse her because my dog was keep moving. Of course!!! This is a dog! Not a toy! I had an appointment at 8 am for Grooming. Unfortunately, i forgot the rabies vaccination of my dog, i asked the lady if she can start and i will be back with the paper in 10 minutes because I'm living close by. She told me she couldn't keep my dog, it was the rule. I wasn't happy about it but went to pick up my rabies at home. 20 minutes later i came back doors were closed. i wait until 9 am for Petco to open and another lady told me the groomer doesn't want to do my dog because i cursed her, and she turns around left me. That was the end of the conversation. I have 3 cats and one dog always goes to Petco but first time in Norwalk on Main Street and this is the way i have been treated. ( Let be smart for a second, if i curse someone before taking care of my dog, do you think i will come back 20 minutes after and leave my dog to her and not being worry???) I brought my puppy in for a basic bath and dry. It took them 3 hours! On picking him up, the staff complained saying he hated the experience and I need to train him to be in a crate. She also said he pooped twice and she had to wash him out twice after. My puppy was reeking on the drive back. On coming back home I wiped him down & noticed the wet wipes were stained yellow after wiping his hind legs and tush area! I literally bathed him all over again to get the poop off his coat. What a joke for a grooming place. My poor puppy had had diarrhea since he came back! If you love your pet, please don't take him/her here. Traumatized pet and poor hygiene. read more

I dont usually write review, but for this grooming service, i want to warn others who read this review. I asked ear cleaning and paid. 5 min later, they said it's done, but nothing was done!! I took my dog back, the girl said she didnt know how to do... Another person took my dog over and used her siccors to pluck my dog a few times and said " now is done". My dig ear was all red because the way she did. I told them I have been to other petsmart, they dont do this way. Another man came and he started to apply some powder and get the job done. Hi, I get my dog groomed at PetSmart regularly and this time was actually better than previous times. He got a Furminator package along with his bath, nail grind, and tooth brushing. Savanna is his regular groomer and always treats him with the utmost of care, she is the best. The best part was how he smelled afterwards, less like a dog and more like a baby! I highly recommend PetSmart for all your grooming needs, it's well worth the dollars spent. read more

Brought my pup who was less than a year old to the groomers. He is 9 years now. First visit was great, positive feedback. Well behaved dog no fuss no nothing. Second visit told me to pick him up early. Told me he was aggressive and gave them a hard time. The gave him a half haircut. One side was long hair and the other half shaved. After asking to talk to the groomer they stated he left for the day. Came back another day and they didn't know who cut my dog's hair. They really didn't care what they had done. Horrible service. Employees were more worried about their phones than the customers. Had to look for dog clippers on my own because no one was around for help. They had a very small selection of items to choose from with almost nothing in stock. This review is for grooming services and one star is 5 stars to high. I took my little Yorkie mix Joy to get groomed. We've always gone to Norwalk because it's close and her vet is there. It's our favorite store. She's always a nervous Nellie when not with family and usually trembles but won't move around or bark or anything. So we drop her off everything normal and Mother and I go do some shopping and end up across the street at Wendy's. After eating I call up to see how she was doing and see if she was done. The lady in the phone says yes she's all done and then "by the way her ear got clipped a little bit and we took her over to Banfield to get checked out". What? Excuse me? I start freaking out. We rush across the street and I run in to get my girl. Lady is trying to explain what happened and that they are giving me a 20% discount and I'm like I want my dog now. I see my Joy and she has a cut on edge of her ear about the length of the tip of my finger. I have a VERY good poker face and I just looked at the lady take my dog and the paper to pay and walk out. My mother at this time was talking to the vet. Now to keep my dog from freaking out I hand her over to mother and I start walking around the store trying to calm down for my Joy. Didn't work. I start hitting the wall with her leash. Management is called. Mother says to get out before they call the cops on me so I walk out. So I leave and I stand outside crying my eyes out. I felt so bad for my girl like I let her down by taking her to these people. I'm crying now writing this. Finally mother comes out and says that management decides that everything was free of cost (like I was gonna even pay yea right) and for me to calm down because Joy will get nervous. So we get in the car and I hug my girl and silently cry over her. She sees me crying and gently licks my face. This was a few months ago. Her hair is a holy mess right now but I'm so scared to take her to get groomed again. I am now looking for private dog groomers or will try Petco. Petco was always the classier of the two. I use the Banfield Veterinary Service at this PetSmart and used to enjoy shopping at the store. Unfortunately the last two times I was there, the store was very unkempt. Three weeks ago at a Vet visit, I noticed clumps of dirt and "dust bunnies " on the floor. You couldn't miss it especially sitting on the bench waiting for your turn at the Vet. Today around 10 am I was there for a follow up appointment and the floors were worse than 3 weeks ago. Clearly the amount of dirt was not recent. Tried to speak to the Manager but was told she was busy. That store used to be spotless but not sure what's going on now. Will try PetCo in the future. read more

The grooming services were great! The facility was very clean, and Maria did a fantastic job cutting my dog's hair and grinding down his nails. She really listened and cut his hair exactly how I asked. Also, he HATES to have his nails touched, but they looked absolutely perfect when we picked him up. Thank, Maria! My fiance and I had to take our three dogs to Banfield Grooming today, which is where we always take them. One of our three has recently been diagnosed with cancer and I was terrified about how his needfullness would play out while he got groomed. Stephanie Soto is their groomer. She told me she would take special care of him as well as our other two dogs. It worked out beautiful! We are so happy with Banfield and Stephanie that we just had to let everyone know! The care she gave them was outstanding and the others in the shop were so helpful as well. We will always take our dogs there and so should you! read more

Upon arrival for our 12:30 grooming appointment we found out that they take 3 animals per appointment slot. One of the dog families paid for express service ($11 more) which means that dog jumped to the front and the other two dogs had to wait in crates for there turn. This meant for us that our dog would then be in a crate for 1 1/2 - 2 hours before being seen. I only found this out because the inexperienced groomer acted surprised and mumbled "ut-oh" under her breath when two of us arrived at the same time to check in with her. Aside from that, the facility was disorganized, the workers were clearly over worked and overwhelmed - when asked by this particular groomer to help both said No. There was so much dog hair on the floor it looked like snow. And that poor woman who dropped her dog off for "express service" well they spent 20+ minutes talking to me after she left all the while her poor, scared dog was being held on a lease by one of the other groomers with one hand (try to pull her towards the exit) while she was using her other hand to cut the hair of another dog. So much for her express service. Meanwhile it took 15 minutes for a manager to come and talk to us during which time our dog groomer disappeared. Complete chaos, very disappointing. Now knowing what would happen to my dog if we had left her there. Manager was oblivious and lacked any professionalism or managerial knowledge to which we walked out. Just an overall disgusting experience and not a safe place for a dog who is large or skeptical/scared. I only give one star because they two groomers who were trying to actually groom in a highly stressful situation (dogs everywhere - people picking up during all of this as well). Shame on you PetSmart for taking a mere $11 more for a dog and treating them the way you do.n read more

Boy was this quite the experience!!! So I went 2 the Norwalk CT location. I had gotten a cockatiel from PetCo a couple weeks prior and was lookin 4 a 2nd bird. I have tortoises @ home & a water turtle. I also still have a couple hermit crabs. Ive never had birds before. So this is new but I love animals so I thiught this would be a fun experience. I had a rabbit & then a couple ginny oigs who I was lille & then a couple frish. I also didnt have pets 4 a whike. Well gettin on. So I took my mom with me me. We asked one of the woman workers about the conures that they had. I said that as much as I've been wantin the sun conure 4 quite a while now id go with the green check since they're quieter & we live in a condo. WE asked if we can put the 2 birds togerther. She was VERY rude & was like absolutely not! 'Do u want em 2 kill each other she said." I said that I dint know. But I felt like I didnbt need 2 be talked down 2. Then I said ok whell if I hafta get this conure cage I can do that. Then my mom said that wed put the cages near each other in the living room. She said "O no! they'll wanna fight & get @ each other & they can't!" I said that Iv'e never heard that. Then she said "Now that I know these were ur plansI not gionna sell u nothin!" I found her attitude 2 be very rude. Just because I've never had a bird before doesn't mean that I can't learn. People can have more than one bird in a house hold. That's just preposterous! She spoke down 2 me like I was beneath her. She said "No I'm not sellin it 2 u!" So I was like "Fine then I'll just go 2 PetCo. she said "Good luck" whith afake little smirk on her face. So I was done with that n she lost a sale. Bye Felicia! PetCo was much nicer. I shoped around. I ended up with a nice puneapple green cheek conure. Cannoli the cockatiel & Shamrock the conure are doin great! I was told that I did hafta have separate cage but incthat I can keep em together in my living room. There's no reason why I can't own more than one bird. I know different people that have multipul birds. The people were so nice & knowledgeable @ PetCo. I'll be stickin with them 4 sxure! I've brought my dog here for grooming services for years without issue. Recently, I booked an appointment and my mother brought my dog in. The woman working charged us for additional services that we did NOT request. She claimed our dog had fleas and needed to treat it. First of all, my dog 100% did not and does not have fleas. Second of all, she did not call me AT ALL to flag this or even ask it was okay before giving my mother a bill for double a normal haircut. I had to get on the phone and berate this woman for her to reluctantly refund us for the services we did not ask for. I assume this woman saw my mother dropping the dog off, saw that my mother did not speak fluent English, and tried to scam us. If you want honest and good service, go ANYWHERE else. These people are untrustworthy and will try to scam you for what ever they can squeeze out of you. read more

I used to bring my dog here (he is a four year old morkie) after his old groomer moved away, and at first it was really good. After his last appointments they told me that he was acting very aggressive which was an absolute shock to me because he isn't aggressive, and none of his previous groomers had called him aggressive either. On his very last appointment they again said he was aggressive, and they cut his hair all the way to his skin and said it was because he wasn't staying still. When I got home I realized they had cut a piece of his skin off, on his upper right leg, and it made sense why he was aggressive, because THE CUT HIM. His wound was even bleeding. I had to take him to the vet, and the vet gave him antibiotics to help his healing process and he had to have a cone for a bit. I really don't recommend, and the prices are very expensive then other groomers in the area, especially for that type of service. read more
