He has pet sit for us many times in San Diego when I have gone on vacation from anywhere from 3-6 days. I feel like some people are either "dog people," or "cat people," but Tom is "animal people." He looked after my cat so well, I think she prefers him over me now! We are sad that Tom left San Diego, but know that he will make many pet parents happy in CT. I highly recommend Together By My Side.

Our dogs absolutely love Leah, and we enjoy chatting with her every chance we can! We have so much trust in Leah to take care of our pups. It was a challenge when our last walker dropped us, but Leah quickly stepped in and put our minds at ease, speaking to her experiences and quickly getting along with our dogs. We have 2 very high energy pups that need to be watched closely, otherwise they will inevitably get into trouble. We've had cases of our pups getting away, and multiple scheduling issues with our last walker (NOT Leah :) ), but we have not once had an issue since Leah has taken over. With many dog walkers out there, and knowing how much people value their pets, we can not recommend Leah enough. She is super easy to work with, and most importantly, just someone you can trust!

Leah is the absolute best! I wasn't aware how expensive dog walking/ pet sitting can be, I briefly…read morelooked on Rover and wag for the cheapest sitter and realized that as with most things, you get what you pay for- Enter Leah. PawsBarkPlay was recommended to me by someone who had a particularly difficult rescue dog. Leah took time to try and get to know the dog before she agreed to walk him and she refused to charge the owner (who paid her anyway) for the first few visits because even though she spent more time than normal at the house she wasn't able to get the dog to warm up to her enough to walk him the first couple times. When I heard this story I thought two things: 1. There's no way this person was actually that nice. 2. I have to get her to walk/ sit my dog (Birdy) To be honest, everything seemed strangely too good to be true. Down to the business cards which were nicer that any I've seen (including my own) and the fact that she was licensed and insured?? Like I said, I didn't think the dog walking business was that serious but she's got it all. The card even says that she's pet first aid & cpr certified (I forgot to ask for proof but I believe her). Anyway, when she showed up I found out that she had recently moved here from the south which explained everything, she has not yet been corrupted by our New England brash way of thinking. She was the sweetest person and took to Birdy immediately. I should say that Birdy is very well behaved and not at all aggressive but she's cautious about new people. Birdy ran to her like she was a long lost relative, I was shocked and a little jealous. Leah told me that she just recently started this business but you would never know. Her prices seem middle of the road for what I've seen out there ($25/30 min walk) but her service and level of care is beyond what I expected and make her prices seem cheap. I was surprised to see that she didn't have any reviews but I have a feeling that her clients are trying to keep her a secret like I thought about doing. As a Yelper, though, I felt obligated to leave this review but she absolutely deserves it. Hopefully she'll keep it in mind when she gets busy!

The bad news, my mom could no longer take care of her dog, Gizmo. I started out patching in different dog walkers using Rover. Very complicated with too many cancellations. SONO walkers stepped in to totally take care of all the dog's needs. They have not missed an appointment for months. Twice per day x 7 days per week. They also make sure Gizmo gets fed and they take him to groomers when needed. Since I live far away, this is an enormous relief to my family and my mother is so happy to continue living with her beloved dog.

** Please Read Before Bringing Your Dogs to Pooch Hotel**…read more The new manager, Sue Reda, is absolutely HORRIBLE. She takes **no accountability** for anything. She missed fed my dog -- and I can't help but worry, what if it had been medication instead? This isn't just frustrating, it's dangerous. Other clients have noticed issues too. One of my friends' dogs was completely forgotten -- how are we supposed to trust they're even being let out for potties or cared for? To make things worse, I personally saw a pit bull mix placed in the small dog group. I have nothing against the breed, but that is absolutely not a small dog! -- it's unsafe and reckless. I'm sharing this because I care about the safety of all our pets. Please, **reconsider before trusting Pooch Hotel with your dog** under its current management. To Sue Reda: This isn't the job for you. Please reconsider this position -- it is NOT meant for you. The care of people's beloved pets is a serious responsibility, and this role demands far more attention, compassion, and professionalism than what's currently being shown.

However, we had a lot of problems from the beginning. We have an older chocolate lab that gets along with every dog she met. The first time we picked her up from a overnight she had scabs on her ears, and we were told that other dogs were humping her in the general play area, I guess biting her ears at the same time. (We have never seen this happen to her before). I asked why those dogs were not separated and they said they didn't notice soon enough. The second time it happened again, and preemptively separated her from the rest of the pack by keeping her in the kennel all day. I didn't think that was fair vs. removing the aggressors. I asked if she had at least been given a walk or some kind of play time to offset being kennel all day, and they said no that would have been extra. I was upset because no one notified of this and we would've gladly had paid if needed. Most recently we had her boarded overnight and called in advance to let them know we would be coming for an after hours pick up, which they said was fine. Apparently that message never got to the person who was on the overnight shift. When we got there, no one answered. We knocked, called, and rang the doorbell for a half an hour, and no one was in the building. About an hour later, we got a call from the person who was on the shift who apologized and said they had stepped out for dinner. This is very upsetting considering the advertised 24 hour person care, and if no one was in the building for over an hour, who was there to watch if something happened like a fire or a fight or a health concern? On top of it, that person is the director of the facility and should have known better not to leave the premise. Have your dinner in a break room, but don't leave the building for over an hour unattended. We went back the next morning to get her and the staff did not even know she was still there! It blows my mind they have no record of the dogs in their care? At the end of the day the facility is not run professionally, the care is questionable, the management is irresponsible, and there's false advertising about availability and on-site protection. If you love your dog, please reconsider boarding here until things change.
