I shop at this PetSmart fairly often, mainly for fish and fish supplies. The staff are friendly and seem knowledgeable enough when I have questions, which makes it easy to find what I need. Prices do run on the higher side, so you definitely pay a bit of a premium compared to other options. The training classes are a mixed bag. They are a nice way to bond with your dog and let them socialize with other dogs, but in a large group setting the actual training itself doesn't always feel as effective as it could be. As for the animals in the store, it's hit or miss. Sometimes there's a good selection and other times the variety is very limited. Still, it's a pretty solid place overall with good people working there, even if the prices and training effectiveness keep me from giving a full five stars. read more

I normally don't leave reviews, but what I witnessed this morning was outrageous. The dog trainer, Adam, behaved in a way that was downright cruel. He was LOUDLY talking down to an older woman, completely disrespectful, and eventually kicked her out of the training area for no reason that justified his behavior. She sat there quietly while he went on and on at her, and it was honestly painful to watch. She was so shaken afterward that she could barely gather her things. What makes this even worse is that this isn't the first time I've seen him act like this. In my experience, he's consistently rude, condescending, and seems to go out of his way to make customers feel small. I have no idea how someone with that attitude is allowed to represent the store. It's embarrassing for the company and honestly disappointing for anyone who expects basic decency. read more

Took my Goldie in today and the two women that were supposed to do it had the worst freaking attitude I've ever experienced in any store. They were upset that I was not able to answer their phone call a few days before the appointment and I was 5 minutes late. It was scheduled for 12:30 on Saturday and as soon as I walked in hey went off saying we can't do it yada yada yada. " We had a call out " which is the main reason they didn't want to groom my dog and ended up getting the manager, telling the GM how rude and nasty they were. The reaction of the manager was as if you are talking to a wall. I will NEVER EVER do business at the midlothian location again and I've also read all kinds of similar reviews about the grooming service alone and how awful it is. I have used Petsmart for years. I called to make a grooming appointment and was given at an agreed time. I showed up on time and the girl at the front area told me my dog's Rabies vaccine had expired. I told her that had recently be updated and the info was on the dog's collar. She said that wasn't good enough she needed the certificate! I looked at her and said, I don't walk around with that in my purse, the information is on the tag. She asked me who the VET was, I told her, that information was also on the tag. She called the Vet, but he was already closed for the day. This was unreasonable, I had been a patron of that store for 24 years. I told her I was walking out and will not return. I took my dog down the road to another groomer, had my dog 's nails cut and the dog bathed. They did a good job and I paid less for the service. The girl was unreasonable. Jessica part of the team make me feel so uncomfortable, my appointment was at 5:45 pm I arrive d exactly at 5:45 pm and told me that she was going to see if the doctor can see my dog. Everyone was on rush to go home included the doctor who explain fast the condition of my dog and told that they will getting close for the day. WHY in the world they schedule at 5:45 if they all want to go home. Horrible experience, I would not recommend this place to any one. I'm in the parking lots texting this I still in shock. read more

The shopping experience at this location is ok, but I personally have a problem with an associate at the register who licks their fingers when opening the plastic bags before placing my items in them. Then proceeds to hand me the receipt with that same hand. This is not the first time it's happened and it makes me want to avoid this particular location all together due to sanitary reasons. read more

Updating my review. I tried to get my dog booked again for a groom, He gets really gross when he is overdue. We are talking sour milk smell and hair everywhere, plus he needs a pro to trim his very very sharp nails. I had to book over two weeks in advance since due to work schedule I can only go on weekends. Well, this morning I got a call saying that the groomer had called out and they would not be able to accommodate my pup, and to call them so they can find me a new appointment. The website is so unhelpful when trying to book, so I called. The person on the phone was not only pretty unapologetic, but no effort was made to try and accommodate my dog. So now I have to wait another two weeks if I want to get my hairy, stinky dog groomed - in fact, I have to wait longer, since our weekends are pretty booked up and I was counting on a groom today. I don't know what the reason was for the groomer to call out, it's well within her right to do so, of course. But I would hope that Petsmart would try to make an extra effort to find times for people whose appointments got cancelled at the last minute. Do they only have one shift of groomers? I guess now I have to shop around for another groomer, something which I really don't enjoy doing. read more

Last night my sons Guinea pig passed away. It started off about two weeks when we bought a guinea pig from Petsmart we took it home the guinea pig never ate correctly. We went into the store at least three times to check with them why he wasn't eating. First they said he needed vitamin C , then they said as long as he was eating Timothy hay he was fine and the last time we went in they told his he'll eventually will eat just keep with him. Well last night he passed away. I called Petsmart and the manager told me I needed to bring in the dead guinea pig for proof before we could get a refund. I told him that I was not bringing the guinea pig in for respect of my son, but I could take pictures of him. He said that was not good enough he needed proof of death. I could not believe what he was telling me and I told him to forget it. My husband was so disgusted with that so this morning he did go into the store spoke to a nice lady manager and she rolled her eyes at what we were told last night and was willing to give a full refund for the guinea pig and apologized. That manager last night was heartless cruel and mean. Whoever he was at 745p 14 November Midlothian probably does not need to be around animals and people. Now maybe he was having a bad day and I get that. BUT that was over the top......... read more

Dog training review: If you have a very real interest in good dog training, then you need Michelle as your trainer. I have had both my dogs go through puppy- advanced training and my dogs have learned so much. My one dog is being trained for service and my other dog is working on passing her CGC. Michelle is dedicated, ordered, has high expectations in her classes for optimal success and will work with your dog and you! I would NOT go anywhere else. I have had the experience in another PetSmart where I could tell the owners/dogs were not held to the same expectations and it was like a whole other world for my leash reactive dog and myself. I will never go back there for any type of training/ testing after that experience. But this is about Michelle and if you want see optimal success in your dog, you need go to her classes! read more

The absolute worst grooming service at the Chattanooga Plaza PetSmart location! We had a 10:30 a.m. appointment and almost three hours later our four month old Rottweiler puppy looked the exact same as he did when he went in; not shampooed, smelled the same, and we could see the same dirt particles on his coat. And we had to pay the Banfield veterinarian to clip his nails because get this, "he tried to bite us." He's a puppy! We didn't have this issue at the Hagerstown, Maryland PetSmart. NEVER again! For the training classes, this location is great! We had Delaney M. as our teacher for a 6-week puppy class. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and patient. What a pro! I've trained a few dogs over the years via classes and private sessions. Delaney and the Petsmart clicker class at this location made for a great experience. Our pup learned a lot, I learned a lot, and other hyper dogs in our class became obedient and manageable. I attribute this to her ability to assess both the pet and owner and teach to the individual. I highly recommend their training class. Plus, I've always received enthusiastic help while shopping there. Seems that they hire folks who like what they do and truly care about pets. read more

We come to this Petsmart a lot. I'm rating it 5 stars, but it may not be for the reasons a lot of people come here. We come here for the training classes and the grooming. We don't actually end up shopping here a lot. When we do shop here, the cashiers are always very friendly though. The reason we come here lately is for the training classes. The trainers here are AWESOME. seriously - if you get a new dog, don't wait until you think there might be behavioral issues. Just sign up. You will not regret it. Your dog will love it and you'll be amazed at how much your new furry family member learns in a few sessions. Do you wish your dog would stop barking, licking, jumping up, biting, pulling the leash, misbehaving around other dogs or children... whatever the issue is, they can totally fix it. We signed up for puppy beginner class, and then took intermediate class. next we will sign up for click a trick, or advanced. Our dog loves to learn, and really enjoys the classes. Yours will too. I think for the best results, you should start them out right away, but I've seen that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. PS - if you are reading this, and you happen to be our neighbors with that dog that never ever shuts up, please - for the love of God and all that is holy - take your dog here and have them teach it to stop barking. they will even do one on one classes with you for a really reasonable price. We also come here for the grooming. They do exactly what we want, and we don't end up with surprises. It's shocking how often we've had 'surprises' when picking our little Mia up from other groomers in this area. read more

I usually bring my dog every few months to have his nails trimmed. I'm unsure if the computer system updated, but they repeatedly ask for my dog's rabies vaccination paperwork. As I am 8.5 months pregnant, I want to make one trip, and having submitted the paperwork after the vaccination was administered, they should have a record on file. I was not happy that I was unable to have my dog's nails trimmed and thus must make another trip. Please be advised that you apparently must bring all vaccination records to EVERY appointment. read more

The staff are very friendly - they do not seem "pushy" or the type of workers that follow your every move. If you have questions about your pet or looking at getting a new friend to add to your family, this is a great spot to visit. Even though I am typically not a fan of "chains", this place proves to be a great place to go for your pet needs. This review is for the grooming department. I took my Pomeranian to get his hair cut there one day. I had forgotten his paperwork and didn't want to miss my appointment. The woman at the front desk told me to be back by 5 and I my pup could still be seen. After leaving my puppy for a short period of time I got a call that he was ready. The lady who cut his hair did a phenomenal job. It was just what I expected and like the picture I had shown her. I was very pleased with the service and his grooming. read more

Booked a grooming appointment and was actually very excited because the puppy rates were EXCELLENT! Well I missed a phone call the day before but no message was left so figured they were calling to verify my appointment. I got there the next day and was greeted with a "Your groomer called out". Luckily, somebody was able to take my puppy as I drove over 30 minutes one way to get there. Anyhow .. as soon as I got home I got a phone saying he wouldn't let him wash him or cut his nails because he was trying to scratch them and he was rolling on his back. This dog lives with a 3 and 5 year old. He wouldn't even bite a bumble bee. He's gotten several service's completed at Petco with no issue other than he's scared of water. They threw a "we wont charge you" in . I'm still in shock a bit.. I literally went home and bathed him myself and I'm ALOT smaller than the groomer. I feel like they didn't have time to complete a scared puppy's service so I was deceived. Won't be going back. Shame on you PetSmart. read more

I love this store! I take my mini dachshund here to get her toenails clipped. I used to clip her nails until I messed up one day and cut too close. That was the last time she let me clip her nails. She became totally uncooperative if I went near her with clippers. So, i went to Petsmart at Chattanooga Plaza, and found Leah, who is now my hero! She asked me to bring Sophie every 2 weeks so she could get her used to the process. For the first several visits, Leah had a 2nd groomer help hold Sophie and she would shower Sophie with love while Leah clipped away! She has patiently worked with Sophie, and after multiple trips and lots of love from Leah, Sophie now gets her toenails clipped without all the fuss, and she no longer needs a 2nd groomer to hold her! I'll never attempt to clip one single nail of Sohpie's again - I'm leaving it to the professionals at Petsmart Chattanooga Plaza! Leah - you are the best! And it's not just the groomers that are awesome. Just a couple of weeks ago, My dog had been on the same grain free diet that I chose for her for several years. Then the FDA warning about grain free dog food leading to heart problems came out and I ran to ANOTHER pet store (because it was closer) and spoke to someone who seemed very knowledgeable about dog food. She recommended a 'blue' food and I had never heard anything but good about it, so I bought it. After a few days, Sophie became constipated but was managing so I went back to the store and spoke to the same lady who told me to add pumpkin to her food. She commented a couple of times that 'yes, this is a dense dog food' and I should have questioned her because I didn't know what that meant - but certainly they wouldn't steer me wrong, right? I added the pumpkin and day by day Sophie ate less and less. This went on for about a week. Her eyes started turning red and she just wasn't herself. Yesterday morning, she wouldn't even eat at all. During the day she had a normal poop, but then it was followed by a large amount of mucousy diarrhea. She also threw up twice and that was nothing but bile and mucous. I started her on watery rice last night and that's what she got for breakfast today. She ate that like it was good and kept it down fine. She's back to her normal crazy hyper self. I called Banfield at my Chattnooga Petsmart to talk to them about enrolling Sophie in their Optimum Wellness Program. After discussing that, I told her about changing Sophie over to the 'blue' food and before I said anything else, she finished the story for me. Now I know - dense means high protein - and high protein doesn't work for all dogs - it doesn't work for MOST dogs apparently. Sophie's reactions to this food is very common and that's not good in my book. I'm so glad I have Petsmart and Banfield at Chattanooga Plaza to help me take care of Sophie! I'm not trusting anyone else! read more

I just had the worst service EVER at this pets art grooming. My 10 1/2 yr old miniature poodle was literally dragged by her leash, thru a floor full of cut fur, to the back room by the groomer. I should've left then. I was told it would be 2 - 3 hours. At 3 hrs i called and was told abruptly they would call ME. My husband went to get our dog at four hrs and she had not been cut yet. He said the groomer had zero customer respect and told him she had gotten busy. He asked what was the purpose of making an appt? She rudely said 'so you know your dog will get groomed sometime that day'. ?? The lost another good customer. read more

The location on Hull Street off of 288 is the absolute worst for Grooming. Besides the fact that EVERYONE in the grooming salon look like they HATE THEIR JOBS and they're there to collect a paycheck. They need to be working in a warehouse somewhere and not interactive with the public and in the care of your pets. I have experienced first hand with the groomers nipping my dog pad (thankfully for them Banfield is located on premises to bandage him) of course it was the oh we're sorry and right back to the butcher shop as if that was enough. So giving them the benefit of the doubt I continue to come this location and received so so service. I even drive by PetCo in route to this PetSmart location. Fast forward we have an addition to the family and they schedule this dog in for a puppy trim. I'm told it would be trimming around the paws, bath and nails trimmed...as an introduction to his first grooming. Well over 4 hours later and we go to pick him up and nothing is done but a bath saying maybe next time because he was not cooperative at all...moving on that will be X amount while we look at this order taker like WTH!?!? Soooooo, moving forward we call this morning and ask if there are any openings and the groomer says SURE, WE HAVE OPENINGS TODAY! What is the dogs name? Puts phone on hold and comes back and says, Sorry we don't have any openings today. Wait, you just said you had openings and then she disconnects the line. We call back and the person picks up the phone and disconnects again. I called from another number and guess what? They answer the phone like they should and then its disconnected as well. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION PERIOD FOR ANY OF YOUR NEEDS GROOMING OR OTHERWISE BUT ESPECIALLY GROOMING...I should have never given them another chance. The management outside of the store really needs to look into who is being hired to staff the Grooming for this PetSmart Location at Hull Street and 288....It's really what drives the business. read more

I have been to various Petsmart stores countless times over the years and have had exceptionally great service. I went in recently to this location and was offered help a few times and finally went I excepted I was beyond blown away with the knowledge, honesty, and overall service I recieved from one of the managers Tony. My boyfriend and I have recently adopted a fox/coon hound mix and it had been more than a challenge finding toys or bones he wont devour in minutes or just having any kind of peace/ quiet evenings without having to crate him which we hate having to do. I came in looking for a bone that was safe and would keep him entertained for more than an hour and with Tony's guidence I found just that! She was honest and sincere about each of the products and also taught me a few tricks of her own. I work in retail for a living and was literally blown away by my experience. I will be shopping at this location for ALL of my pets/ future pets as long as she is working there. Its wonderfull to know that I have someone I trust with helping me find what I need and not upselling me products that wont work. I also ended up purchasing a more expesive item I hadn't planned on, but it is proving to be WELL WORTH IT! That is the type of Sales Leadership I really respect from a customer and a Managers point of view!!!! read more
