Typical chain store....some overpriced and some moderately price low quality items. Independent pet stores are better, but much pricier too.

Third time I've taken my dog to be groomed.They do a terrible job, definitely will not take my dog there again! If I'm going to pay fifty dollars to groom my dog I will go somewhere else that are trained better to do the job. read more

Don't take your dog here to be groomed! I received horrible service. Unfriendly staff that did an awful job on my dog. Paid extra for a nail trim, only a few of the nails were done. My dog is a mini schnauzer, bad job on the hair cut, and didn't do her ears which is standard grooming for schnauzers. I called and very politely complained that evening and the night manager suggested I call back in the morning as the grooming department was closed. I followed his instructions and called the next day to speak to a manager who I was told would help me. She was busy so I left my name and number and was assured she would call me back in an hour. Two days later....nothing. They were going to make it right by booking me another appointment to fix what wasn't done but after two follow up attempts to make that happen and still nothing...I am done. Will NEVER go back. I would rather pay to have her done by someone who cares. Three strikes and you are out! read more

Had our dog groomed since we could get to our regular groomers. I wish we would have waited. They scraped her bottom causing it to bleed, one of her nails were cut to short so it hurt her while she walked, and there prices are 45% higher then Largo Pet Grooming where we usually go. This place used to be a lot less expensive than the supermarket, but their prices are now the same as Publix and Albertson's, so it's not worth making a special trip to shop here. read more

I recently purchased a harness for my dog, and he unfortunately chewed through it. I brought the harness just to go off size so I can buy a new one. As I was about to check out I asked if I was able to get a warranty on the new harness, and Jody absolutely went above and beyond to give me a new harness free of charge because I recently bought the harness that wasn't usable. PetsMart Banfield has no integrity. Please do NOT buy the "Wellness Plan" they tout, Ive had multiple negative experiences at two locations. Two weeks ago I went in for my dogs shots, location on Ulmerton recommended Lyme prevention but it would need a booster in two weeks. I explained that my wellness plan was expiring and I wanted my pup covered from heart worm for 6 months (she gets a heart worm shot bc she throws up the monthly chewables) and updated Rabies. I was told my plan would not expire until the end of the month, but per the vet that there were too many shots to administer to the dog at once. Even though the dogs heartworm would expire I was told by the vet it's ok the dog should be ok for two weeks with no protection. Yes I had a family member with me that witnessed the entire visit heard the same thing. So after multiple assurances I would still be covered, I proceeded. Well I went in this morning for the Lyme booster (to complete the series) and for the heart worm shot and guess what my plan was no longer active. The receptionist told me that Lyme prevention didn't need a booster and then "corrected" herself that it was, staff kept us waiting for 15 mins before we walked out. Now my dog's heartworm expired two weeks ago. They lie to your face and waste your time. I had another near poisoning event with my dog which the vet at the other location at Gulf to Bay didn't help with either. Buyer beware time and money waster. I love the PetSmart at the Largo Mall. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. They price match (except for chewy) and happily take coupons. I own bunnies, a cat, and a dog and I go there for all of their food and supplies. I have NOT used the grooming or the vet services. I'm there to shop only. read more

I took my cocker spaniel puppy in for their $14.99 puppy grooming special and when I got him back...he looked like a poodle. I am so upset all they did was shave his paws and left the rest of his fur long and barely trimmed!! He looks ridiculous! So this is a warning to anyone who is thinking about taking their puppy there for his/her first trim...if you want your puppy to stay cute with the kind of cut that belongs to his/her breed, do NOT TAKE YOUR PUPPY THERE!!! read more

Wow! I can't hate this place more. Combo between the store managers and Banfield. Got a kitten from there who turned out to sound pretty sick; went back two days later to Banfield, told my daughter signed off on pretty much a 'as is' form (which she is a minor!) and that if I didn't have $500+ for the bloodwork, xrays, overnight visit, the kitten would die. Didn't have the money, was crying and asked them what kind of animal place would allow me to leave this store with an animal to take home to die? Wouldn't give me a discount...nothing. Store managers were kids, but that shouldn't matter - compassion and decency knows no age limit! Anyway, have a vet friend who told me they were trying to rip me off, give the kitten a quarter of a baby aspirin and he gave me some drops...kitten was fine within days and is still alive and well! I can't believe the horrendous treatment I got there and honestly thought about picketing it to make sure people do not take their animals to them! PLEASE PASS THIS ON. I have proof of all of this and witnesses - no drama or lies. No need to hate on places. A place that specializes in just PETS and lets someone leave like that, deserves to be closed down! read more

I had an appointment at the Petsmart location at 6PM earlier this afternoon. Upon realizing that traffic was going to prevent me from making my appointment on time, I called the store and spoke to Kelly, the groomer, and informed her I was going to be about 20 minutes late. Kelly assured me that it was not a problem and that they could still see me, as all I was getting was a "puppy trim" for my 3 month old Maltese puppies first haircut. Upon arriving to the location at exactly 6:25PM, I went to the grooming salon where I noticed 4 associates standing around with no dogs in sight. I was greeted by Leslie Dover who asked if I had an appointment. I informed her that I did, and that I called in and spoke to Kelly about being a few minutes late. Leslie told me that they would have to charge a $11.95 "express charge" because the store closed at 9 and that it would take normally take longer to complete a trim. I told Leslie that when I spoke to Kelly, she did not mention the express charge, and it wasn't until after driving 30 minutes to the location that I was told I had to pay extra just to receive the same service. The cut was simply a puppy trim and not a complete groom, so I find it very hard to believe my 4lb puppy would take over 2 and a half hours to "trim." Leslie told me that I would have to pay to charge even though it wasn't explained prior to me arriving. I then asked to speak to her manager, and she just replied that she was the manager. I then reiterated that I wanted to speak to "her" manager and it wasn't until then that she went to get the store manager. After waiting 5 minutes and neither Leslie or the manager returning I left the location. I am highly dissatisfied with this experience and am ashamed that your company has such rude associates that are trying to scam me for a service that made no sense to charge for. I will no longer do business with this location, and leave reviews with every website and review site that I can find. read more

This is the third time I used their grooming salon, the first time the did wonderful, both my bichons look wonderful, I thought great I found a great place.. The second time was not the greatest but not horrible. However, this last time, and it was the same groomer, did a butchering job on both my dogs, one had a lot of matts because of having surgery and allergies, he needed to be cut real short, but you would think it would at least be even, no there are patches of long hair all over his head and body. No my other was in great shape and I asked for a Bichon cut, she said like before and I said yes. Now I was charged for a PREMIUM Groom, which is they had to take extra time with them I guess,. My female look like a poodle, and not a very good job at that, I figure if I'm paying the premium rate I should get premium service. Didn't happen. And now my dog that had to be shaved is having some emotional problems, he's not himself at all, he just sits in the closet and won't play, at least he eats, but it's not the dog I dropped off. I will NEVER take my dogs back there, I tried to call and talk to the manager but she wasn't in and I haven't received a return call. read more
