The groomers at this location work very hard at keeping the people happy and our fur babies pretty. I take my pug there and he loves going in. Of course he loves going home too! I like that we have a PetSmart location nearby. It's easy to stop by and pick up food and treats or special items needed. Normally I don't use the the online order to pick up. But recently used it when time was an issue. Yesterday I went to pick up my order and walked towards the racks where online orders are placed so I could read the sign that had instructions because the store was busy and no one was available to ask. This is when a cashier rudely says '"you are going to have to get at the back of the line !! We're too busy right now!! My thought was what a jerk! I got in the long line and asked myself "why order ahead online ? What difference does it make and why is this woman being such so rude? ( it was right out loud ) usually the cashiers are quite nice but even the person that waited on me was also rude. I will probably shop here if I need something but I would love to tell the workers from yesterday personally and not in front of the whole store that need to to get an attitude change or a job where they don't interact with people. This review is actually for the CatKids Rescue that brings their kittens in for adoption. I adopted two kittens, however after we got them home we noticed they were both sick with colds, I gave it a couple of days, but one stopped eating because they couldn't breathe through their mouth. I couldn't afford to take them to the vet because I had just spent extra money on supplies for them, plus I have another cat and didn't want her to get sick too...so I called and they told me to bring them back along with all the stuff I bought for a refund. Petsmart was great, they gave me a full refund for everything...even if it was opened!!! However, I have been waiting for over a month for a refund from the CatKids Rescue organization and I keep getting the run around with responses such as, "I thought this was taken care of already, let me get back to you"...and no response! I have been patient and nice, allowing them extra time to follow up. BE VERY CAUTIOUS BEFORE you adopt from them, They DO NOT honor their word!!! read more

I have to say, this location is hit and miss. Sometimes I encounter polite, friendy and helpful staff. Then the next time, not so much. My primary residence is in another state. But I'm in Florida every 3 months, for several weeks, and often have my disabled Persian with me or even a foster kitten. While I typically bring all their supplies with me, sometimes I need something for them or even for my grandparents dogs. It's really frustrating how many times I've wandered and wandered the store, unable to get help. One of the most helpful people I've encountered there was actually a rep with Blue Buffalo. That's kind of sad. My biggest complaint and issue with this store is how out of date it is. Especially their feline adoption center. It looks absolutely pitiful, with the tiny, shabby and cramped looking cages. Working in animal welfare, with cats specifically, I can testify that this set up is not in the cats best interests and is sure to enduce high stress in an already stressful environment. There is absolutely no place for the cats to hide and soothe themselves and the tiny enclosures causes food, water and litter to all be on top of each other. There also appears to be next to no ventilation. It's truly a breeding grounds for Upper Respiratory Infections. I expect better from companies who advocate for animal care and health. read more

They had a few cages with cats and kittens for adoption, which always makes me sad and wanting to adopt all of them. I wound up getting a few varieties of cat cans for my cats before leaving. Pet Smart is the only chain that has my dog's food, I usually go to a different location but I'm displaced because of the hurricane and this one was closer. They had 2 bags of my dog's food, and both bags had fuzzy brown stuff in the seams of the bags including the top where you open the bag. I tried brushing the brown stuff away thinking it was some kind of dirt..... it was bug nests. Tiny Bugs all over both bags. And to make it worse, one of the bags had a hole the size of a quarter, so you know the food is filled with bugs too. I told an employee and she said "oh no!" And checked the back for more bags for us but I'm not sure what happened to the nasty bug infested bags.... I ended up traveling about 30 min to my usual location and got a nice clean bag instead. read more

Went to Largo Pets Smart Our dog Milo is 2 years old. We have tried different places for his grooming but pet smart grooming was different. They were absolutely the best. Never have liked his haircuts, he would hide from us for 2 days, and he was always cut. At pets mart his tail was wagging the minute we took him in, the ladies actually looked excited to see him, his haircut looks the best! And best of all he's not hiding from us. I had an amazing experience with the grooming department at this location on Monday. I just moved to the area and this is the most convenient place for me to have my two elderly dog's nails trimmed. I called to make the appointment and the individual who answered the phone was super friendly and booked my same day appointment within minutes. When I arrived on time, they immediately got to work on each dog. They were fully booked but the positivity of each groomer made a huge difference. Brining your dog to have something done that you know is stressful, is stressful as an owner and when you arrive and everyone is in a bad mood, it makes the already hard experience, that much more awful. I was honestly hesitant because I have been to the grooming department several times for nail trims at the petsmart off MLK in St Pete and my experience was always terrible, every time I arrived they seemed annoyed and stressed and they rushed my dogs and they could feel the energy (although the store manager was amazing). They told me that my little dog was unmanageable for a nail trim (despite my vet saying there was never an issue). The groomer at the largo location took her time with each of my dogs yesterday, was friendly, and had a great attitude, and my dogs could feel the vibes. My little dog was wagging her tail and was managed by ONE amazing groomer without issue. I will be coming back here every 4 weeks! Just your average PetSmart store. The staff is always friendly and ready to help. I haven't had a bad encounter with staff yet. They have plenty of toys and food available for a variety of animals. We actually only came to this location for Dog training. I put in an inquiry online and followed up by phone. Dennis is great! He truly is a dog whisper. Our puppy has a hard time with some simple commands and now, 2 weeks in we have already seen an improvement in behavior. I would highly recommend him to anyone! The only annoying thing is that there is constantly dog pee on the floors. They have cleaning stations throughout the store but people tend to look the other way. I realize this fault falls on the owners, but it is still annoying. Speaking of, if you are facing the building, there is a grass area to the right of the building for dogs to do their business before coming into the store. read more

Made a grooming appointment for a foster dog 2 weeks ago. Asked a ton of questions about cost, what services the owner had done and how we can decrease the cost. Showed up on time to be told they had No appointment for the dog then accused me of being in the wrong place. I made the appointment standing in their grooming area. The "new" manager was totally useless. She claimed the dog wasn't even in the system under the original owner even though the groomers found it easily. Total shit show! We now have a serious infestation of moths in our home and contacted corporate office. Of course, they have not responded. We've had to throw out expensive dog food, and food in our kitchen along with clothing they have eaten. Please do not buy any type of pet food here!! They need to get rid of this infestation. I bought an item and the cashier charged me the wrong price. I told her that she charged me the wrong price and she said she could not change it and if I wanted the item that I had to pay what she rang up on the register. I tried to ask why she would not correct it and charge me the correct price and she became very nasty and rude. I had to ask for a manager and he gave me the correct price. The manager never apologized for the problem, just told her the correct price and walked away. This the first time in my life that I have had to ask for a store manager in all my years of shopping at any store or place of business. Won't be shopping here any more and I have 2 cats and 2 dogs so I do spend a lot of money every month for food and supplies. read more

Chloe in grooming is amazing! I just took my deaf boxer in to have her nails trimmed and expressed my concerns with her being deaf. Chloe got down on the floor to meet my dog so that she wouldn't be scared. Also when trimming her nails when my dog started to get fussy, she would stop and wait for her to calm down again. We will definitely be back to see Chloe in the future with my other dog too! read more

Used to come to the grooming salon everytime my dog was due for a nail trim. I get the pawdicure plus which is supposed to include things such as ear cleaning and a bandana on top of the usual trim and grind. Today when I went in a me tioned specifically to them that my pup was needing the ear clean as they we're bugging him. They responded that they would be extra attentive of his ears. When he was finished I checked him and they didn't do anything with his ears. They didn't spritz him, his nails we're just barely shorter than when we went in, and not that I would normally care but they didn't even give him the bandana that's supposed to be included. So incredibly disappointed. We will be finding a new spot for our nail trips and monthly splurge on treats. read more

The low star ratings in other reviews involve Banfield, a veterinarian which has an office at the store. From what I can tell Banfield is a separate company that is partially owned by Petsmart. Still it seems that complaints about Bansfield should be part of a Bansfield review not a PetSmart review. Anyway, PetSmart is a well done large store with supplies for almost any kind of pet. The staff is mostly young people who are probably working there more due to their affection for animals than a paycheck which presumably is not very large. I visited looking for a cat. These are animals provided by Pinellas County Animal Services and it's nice a large corporation participates in this program. It clearly is more of a service to the community than a money maker. The clerk spent plenty of time with us and was genuinely concerned about a cat that was a good match for the situation. I was looking for a small young adult female and unfortunately there was not a match. This is certainly not the fault of the store. Animal Services can only distribute what they have. This is a nice store with lots of variety. Friendly employees but slightly under staffed. read more

Went in with our new puppy we had just gotten from the shelter to get basic items. Staff was extremely friendly and held dog still while we tried on different size harnesses (and he is a big German Shepherd puppy!), as well as making sure to pet and give treats (with owners permission of course) to animals that were brought in the store. Received information about programs and discounts that we were eligible for since we had a new pet. Received booklet of coupons with lots of free stuff for our new pet, and the animal trainer gave us his number to call with any questions, as well as made us promise not to return our dog before taking the time to train him and give him a chance. Staff really cares. Other than some light up selling done by staff (which is a requirement of working in customer service, some people on here seem to forget), they were amazing and helpful, and made sure to direct us to other places for where they couldn't help us. read more

His Daddy likes it because a forty-pound box sells for the low price of $8.99. He also likes their odd but consumer-friendly discounting policies. Friskies Cat Treats were on sale for 99 cents each, and I had a buy-two-get-one-free coupon. The register rang up each of the three at 99 cents each, but then deducted the full regular price of $1.59 for the free one.
