Petsmart groomers and vets are like Walmart hair salons or bakeries. If you want the absolute best, then you don't come here. Remember when coming to big box stores that some employees will be horrible and that these will likely not be noticed until something big happens. Also remember that you have the option of walking away while your pet is being groomed or staying and watching - you don't get that option at other groomers. So regardless of where your pet is groomed, be vigilant! Now that my lecture is done, I'm still just okay with this chain. Their pet beds are horribly over priced and you could get something similar for half the price at Costco or online. They have renovated recently, but the same brands are here plus some new ones. I came here today to get some of the higher end liver treats for my Labrador since I found out she has cancer. They were a bit hard to find with the new layout. The treats are not necessarily in one place and may be with the associated brand's dog food. We were also going to get her a new bed since her's is worn, but we will get that at Costco. Either way, I wouldn't bring my pets here for vet or grooming unless I was desperate. This is a pet big box store first and foremost. read more

no wonder this place has 2 stars on yelp... one very angry employee looked at me like I was the worse thing to walk into that store ever for no reason, made me wait 15 minutes to help me, after, I went to get a collar engraved for my dog and the lady (other employee also mad at life) called out on their radio "customer on engraving machine... a man" in the nastiest tone for NO REASON, I was polite from beginning to end of my visit. This is my go to pet smart! Have been coming here for well over a year now to pick up my pups necessities. We have only gotten an ear cleaning and nail trim from the grooming service, but no complaints there. Everyone is very friendly and you're always greeted upon arrival. Most recently, our cashier advised us of a perk on the app and was so patient as we downloaded and got it all set up. read more

At 4:45 PM Friday July 3. I walk into the fish department with my son, there is one employee working there a short, blondish lady with red petco shirt. She sees me and my son walk up. You could tell by her body language she did not want to help us. She's with another guest and I greet her and tell her we're waiting next for fish. She proceeds to take another family in front of us that walked up and interrupted her with her first customer and spent over 20 minutes with them and then I see her try to sneak out the door and leave. I say excuse me do you have anyone else that can help us, we were waiting here for you. She just rolled her eyes and shrugged and left the store. There was no one else on the floor to cover the department and only two cashiers working with an extremely long line. The worst part is there were four bags of fish, floating in the aquariums with several dead and rotting fish in them because no one got around to putting the fish out from The shipment they got. All the aquariums are disgusting and not kept up with. This seems to be happening at more and more of your stores, I went in one last week that was the same way and I went and bought fish from Petco. It's one think to have rude staff, it's worse to let animals die from lazy employees and understaffing. I will not be coming back. read more

Dropped our German Shepherd off at 1:45 pm. He was not ready until 8:30 pm! No report card. We don't know what they did for 6 hours. Found a manager and they offered $10off an $90 grooming bill. Make sure y'all are checking the dates on your pet's food you are buying. The first time I was in store buying my Pet food and noticed it was expired since 2019! I didn't make it a big deal nor did I leave a review but I let them know cuz mistakes happen. However the past few times that I've ordered curbside, I've noticed expired food every single time in my order. Each time it was from 2020. We are almost in September ending 2021. That is not okay. I occasionally take my dog to various petsmart locations to be groomed, but I happened to be in the Katy area closest to this one. I will NEVER go back to this petsmart or any of its other locations period. I have a mini poodle that needed grooming. I dropped him off at 11AM. I was told that he would be ready around 4PM, which was fine since I didn't have much to do during the day. I was called around 3PM and told that they couldn't finish my dog's haircut because he was vomiting with bloody diarrhea as well! I was shocked! My dog usually does quite well at the groomers, although he pretty much cries most of the time. I rushed over to pick him up and he was still having bloody stools at the time. I took him over to banfield and they were very dismissive. The vet didn't even come out to see about my dog. I guess they were "sooooo busy". The staff said that I needed to take him to the ER! Long story short, his diarrhea turned out to be stress induced and he was prescribed some antibiotics. He was perfectly fine with no accidents after I brought him home from the ER. My question is how long has my dog been in the kennel before you discovered he was ill? Why did it take over 3 hours for petsmart to call me and let me know that my dog was ill? I was so worried about my dog that I didn't get a chance to speak with the manager about this so I'm writing it here. Please render your business elsewhere if you love your dog. read more

With the holidays being here we were running out of our prescription dog food that we normally get from our vet. Our vet faxed it to PetSmart and when we got there their vet office was closed. A team member went back and found the prescription and went the extra mile to get our dog food. I know this sounds like what should be just good customer service. Do not take your pets to the grooming here. They burned our Maltese and pretended to not know anything about it. He was perfectly fine when we brought him in and then he comes back with a nasty red burned skin on his shoulder? Um, yeah. Poor baby! When we asked them what it was, they pretended it was just a rash. Lying assholes. A few days later, it scabbed over really bad and our vet thinks he might have been scalded by their drying equipment. And now over a month later the scab is mostly gone but that part of his skin grows no hair and looks burned and scarred. Absolutely horrible. read more

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you bring your dog to this groomer! I brought my 2 year old dog here. Traditionally she has not liked getting her nails trimmed, but tolerated it. Thought I'd try a new place so I walked her into this PetSmart. Absolute worst idea I've ever had for my dog. The place hasn't been cleaned in months, maybe years. The staff was super busy and visibly stressed out, a little unpleasant to customers and actually mean to stressed out dogs. (I'm the last person to judge an employee for being tense on a busy day, but two employees were yelling at the dogs, which upset all of the other dogs and created this horribly chaotic environment.) Unfortunately the yelling didn't happen until after they'd whisked my dog into a back room, so I decided to give these people the benefit of the doubt. I don't know why they couldn't cut my dog's nails in the front room. I literally only asked for a nail trim. But whatever, benefit of the doubt. Then I start to hear dogs freaking out and screaming in the back room, and employees yelling back at the dogs. I'm trying to figure out if my dog is one of the distressed dogs (I've only heard her cry once. She's that laid back of a dog.) when the kid who was trimming her nails comes out of the back room looking extremely sheepish. My dog's face was covered in blood. The groomer mumbled something about how she got so stressed out she gave herself a nosebleed and started "secreting from her anal glands." Has she ever had a reaction like that before? NO!!! He couldn't finish trimming her nails because she was so distressed, this dog who is so laid back I've only heard her howl once. I can't be sure of how she was treated because they took her to that back room with the screaming dogs, so once again I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I can't recommend this place. It was like doggie hell. Don't bring your dog here. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. (Side note: immediately after this bad experience I took her to the PetCo on Mason Rd., where they did a great job with my stressed out dog. They were so gentle when she was nervous at first, and by the time they were finished she was happy as a clam. Also, they didn't take her into a shady back room, and even though they were just as busy as the PetSmart, they were very kind to both the customers and dogs. Went in to get my puppy groomed, a trim, nothing drastic, just thorough nice cleaning and trim since she's been treated with no good care at the shelter. This lazy repeatedly all what kind of hair cut, and all other stylists just standing there etc. I'm not a dumb person at no means, I said she doesn't need to be shaved, just a trim. What is wrong with this woman? I ended up leaving, they said because she had been spade recently they couldn't bathe her, but can give her a hair cut. I brought my dog here to get groomed around December 29, 2013. They burned his nose and he developed a sore. And he was pink and tender in other spots around the nose. I brought him back on January 2 to show them and the manager at the grooming salon told me it was normal because they see so many dogs a day! The store manager had the good sense to disagree with her, and at least apologize. Then I had to wait almost an hour for their vet to look at my dog to tell me what I already knew - he was burned. This PetSmart is off the chain! Been to a few and have to say that this is by jiminey the cleanest, friendliest one in Houston. Was able to get inside and out quickly because they have enough cashiers - also, there was a lady who helped me find the right bag of grub for my dog while offering alternatives. She even gave me a coupon for $5 off! She was persistent in switching my pet food though off of the brand my dog likes to a fancier one called Avoderm. I was looking for a large fish aquarium, and went looking at the handful of aquarium specialty stores. What I learned was that Petsmart has more selection and lower prices. I wanted a large hexagonal tank, and no place had any, except Petsmart. I did not expect that. The manager was knowledgeable and willing to talk to me. I went to return a dog door I had bought that was never used because I couldn't install it. I went with my receipt and they refused to refund the money they then asked for the card the item was bought on but the card was being replaced for that bank account so I showed them the receipt and the proof of purchase on my bank account and they still refused to give me my refund. I had my service dog with me and I'm disabled I had my disabled mom and elderly disabled grandma with me and we all have medical condition that can kill us if stressed to much. The worker called her manager to see if it was ok and was going to refund it after a lot of trouble but she went crazy and refused to give me the refund when I took a picture of her and told her I will be reporting her. She went crazy and told us to get out and threatened to call the police when she was in the wrong and was abusing the disabled and elderly. My disabled grandma who has a medical condition that can kill her due to the stress told her to call the police she would meet them outside. My disabled mother who has a medical condition that could kill her if to stressed said she would call her lawyer. The worker still refused to refund the money . I was very upset and my service dog was the only thing calming me. My After about 15 minutes another worker who was actually kind and doing his job told me his manager Called him and he could do the refund. My mom and grandma came back and the woman worker who had be giving us so much trouble got the money for the refund while having a very bad attitude. The male worker got us are refund and we left but we were very upset about how the woman worker treated us and plan to talk to her manager and corporate. The woman worker who gave us so much trouble is Named Jo she is the worker in the picture if you look on the counter you see my grandma with the receipt the picture was before my grandma took a picture and she went crazy on us. I went here to get some supplies for los gatos, and the first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the SMELL. Maybe I was spoiled by the PetSmart in San Marcos, but good lord that place smelled like wet dog. This could be explained by the pet salon right next to the entryway, but the smell permeated the entire store. However, this *is* a pet store, so I'll give them a pass on smelling like . . . well, like pets! Still, they might want to look into some sort of deodorizing agent or machine to take care of that, because it is strongest in the entryway and is a little off-putting. The selection here also seems more limited than what I found at our old PetSmart in San Marcos. The cat section is definitely smaller than what I was used to, though they did have everything I needed on that particular day. Otherwise, the staff seemed nice and the store is laid out in a pretty intuitive manner so it didn't take me long to find the things I was looking for. They have a pet salon, Banfield veterinarian, and obedience training classes for dogs. They also have adoption days on Saturdays. In general this location seems like a pretty standard PetSmart store. read more

Once I picked up my baby I noticed a cut behind her ear after we got home and when I called about It one of the salon specialist asked me how were they suppose to know it was them like really? I never leave reviews but the grooming salon is ridiculous. I called a day prior to schedule my dog for a nail grind only the girl said 11am, I was like perfect. I get there 10 mins early but have to wait 15 mins outside the salon since it's one pet family at a time due to covid(understandable). When I finally get in the grooming salon I have to wait another 20 mins, while there's one groomer just sitting at the front desk part and he didn't even say a word to me and was not working on a dog. Then I was asked to step out after I had been waiting for 30 mins. By this time it was 11:30 and my dog still hadn't been seen so I just left. I usually take my dog to the PetSmart around I-10 and Katy fort bend (by Dicks and bed bath and beyond) and that's where I'll continue to take her. The groomers are more friendly, helpful, and they schedule me for a time that they know someone will be free. Even my dog likes that location better than this one by Target, she seems very uneasy in this salon. read more
