The neighborhood I am staying in is a cul-de-sac.. and there was poor dog roaming around for almost a week. She was severely under weight. The neighborhood took turns putting out water and food for her. She kinda looked pregnant so I was a bit concerned since the hoa said they would have her euthanized... so we took her in for a week now. And fatten her up ;) After calling many non kill shelters, and vets to get her the correct medical treatment she needed...I was getting discouraged since so many programs were full. When we reached out to PetBar through yelp about the situation... not only did they answer within two hours but they were so incredibly kind! Their groomers are top notch! I can tell they were professional because they knew how to handle her ... it seems like the dog was beaten because she was scared and very on guard... every time you try to pet her she would flinch :( and duck. I didn't know how she would deal with the stress of grooming. We can't afford to keep her and I am allergic to most dogs and cats. So our best bet is to get her all squared away health and cleanliness wise for the best outcome. I didn't have much hope since I called so many places... yet... Pet Bar has exceeded our expectations of quality skillful professionals with kind hearts. One of the best grooming places I have been to! They were so sweet and the owners were so generous with providing "sweet pea" with all the hygienic care that was long overdue. I highly recommend this outstanding establishment! From the owners to the staff in the front and their groomers. Trust that your lovely fury friends are safe and more than loved here. Website states self wash stations are open with last wash starting 30 minutes prior to close. Only to arrived near 45 minutes before close and the attendant tell me a new corporate policy change moved it to 1 hour. Thanks for the updated info. read more

I needed a new groomer, so I contacted Petbar through Yelp to get a quote, and they directed me to their website, where I was able to set up an appointment for that same week. Once I dropped her off, they estimated she would be ready within three hours, but they called me 1.5 hours later saying she was ready. They did a lovely job on my 54lb Golden Retriever. For a bath and haircut, total came out to $145 before tip. I felt it was a little pricey, but I am satisfied with the end result. I will certainly use their services again in the future. read more

VERY rough with the dogs. I've been there twice to use the self wash for my large breed dog. Both times I've witnessed the staff being unnecessarily rough with the small dogs they handle. A dog shouldn't be crying out in pain for 5 mins straight while the groomers have earbuds in and completely ignore/don't give the dog a break to calm. It's disturbing. Another time I saw them drag a dog who froze in fear across the floor like a mop to the grooming area. They are far too rough with the dogs, especially the ones who are terrified. I didn't even finish drying my dog because I couldn't bear to listen to the dog that was screaming. I let the manager know my concern, but they couldn't be bothered to reply so I'm left to post it here. read more

My pup went in for her very first groom and Katalina (the groomer) was so gentle with her! I previously took my puppy to another groomer, but the groomers energy was bad & it rubbed off on my nervous puppy. I brought my baby in to Petbar and had a totally different experience! Love this place! I've lived in Houston almost 3 years now and have tried a few groomers. Petbar delivers the exact cut we request each time. My favorite aspect is that they have individual appointment slots so our dogs go in when it's actually time for their cut. Most groomers just take all the dogs in the morning and let them sit in crates all day, screaming, while they await their appointment. This doesn't happen at Petbar. We take the dogs in at the designated time, the groomer comes out personally to get them and then takes them directly to a private grooming room. When I go to pick them up, they are waiting together in a fenced-off area just for them, not crated behind closed doors. Love this place. It's my forever grooming spot in Houston! read more

My issue is with the membership. Be sure to read the small print. The ONLY way to cancel is in office! if you are no longer in the area, they will tell you that that you must come in. I had two months of unused grooms. THOSE DO NOT ROLL OVER. If you don't use them, you lose them - with NO REFUND or credit. They could care less that I was a paying customer who had the membership for a good while, and even transferred to their location from another site in a different city. In short, I cancelled the membership and will not be returning. read more

I'm come here for the self service wash & every time I get greeted by the super friendly staff. I have a double coat dog and usually takes two rinses and a leave in conditioner to her coat clean and never do I feel rushed. The showers and blow dryers are always clean. They called before cutting because our dog was more matted than expected and they wanted to give us a head's up that she would be cut pretty short. Easy checkin/check out process. Really nice work for a first time experience. I worked with Karina, who was an excellent groomer and got my boy looking really good, despite his nervous disposition. My guy is friendly and loving, but very shy. We first went to Petbar on Tuesday and apparently he was so afraid they couldn't cut him (he was jumping off the table and evacuating his bowels a lot. So they didn't charge me and offered me another time with Karina, a very experienced groomer. We came back and Karina was very nice and helpful, she took us in right away and let me stay with him so he would feel comfortable. He had no accidents and was generally calm. After a bit he grew comfortable with Karina and I was able to leave. He looks much better now and she got rid of all these terrible mats that had developed. read more

Highly recommend this place for dog's spa and grooming. Our golden doodle dog loved being there from the moment we entered the location. She came out looking with gorgeous locks and smelling beautifully. Easy online reservations. Staff is very friendly and happy to answe all questions and concerns. Charged 120 for the most mediocre haircut my dog has ever had and she doesn't even smell good. If i'm paying 95 dollars for a routine grooming on a medium sized dog that doesn't shed I'd expect the haircut to be included??? Will not be returning. The staff was nice at least. read more

Decided to bring my dog for the self service after work today. I also wanted them to trim her nails. I ended up walking in at 5:15pm and the woman working said I need to arrive at least an hour before closing. However their website clearly states it is 30 min before closing (screenshot below). She did say I could wash my dog if I was done by 5:45pm but no one else is there to trim her nails. I get it, it's the end of the day but how are they not staffed? Just disappointed. I think if you visit this business you should call before just to be sure they meet your expectations. read more

Just a warning. The dogs aren't put in a kennel while waiting. My puppy got hurt there, he jumped over the door of the waiting area and has a long road to recovery. It has been challenging to say the least. read more

First time using a self service dog spa and couldn't be happier I chose here! My (almost) 11 year old rescue desperately needed a bath that couldn't wait for a grooming appointment. Was in around 3 pm and was able to get in immediately! They were busy but the right amount of busy they have different selections of shampoo and can opt for conditioner (which made my husky/shepherd feel softest she has since her puppy years! I came to bring my dog to get groomed here before the holidays. The groomer picked through my dog's hair searching for "matts." It's been raining lately & my Shih Tzu hair was slightly tangled around the paw & belly area. The groomer picked through his paw with a comb within 10 seconds & said that it would be $10 extra because of the "matts" when few spots were just slightly tangled. She mentioned it would take 40+ minutes to get rids of the "matts" when she just combed out a slight tangle within 10 seconds. A matt must be cut out or shaven down. My dog's slight tangle was combable. It wasn't worth the extra $10 because once washed & blow dryed this problem could've easily been resolved. I left to do the tedious detangle process on my own & got rescheduled for Friday 12/13 at 2pm. An hour after getting my confirmed appointment the receptionist says that they're not taking any more pets for grooming because of the holidays. If that's the case, then why wasn't it mentioned earlier to me? No type of proactive efforts in regards to making accommodations so that my dog could be groomed. For example, calling future appointments to see if they would still make it, trying to squeeze my dog in since it was last minute notice, or calling other Petbar locations to help us out. I only went to this location since the "2 decades" groomer from Petbar 5130 Bissonnet cut my dog's face too low like a terrier (unlike the sent pic) causing us to leave & never go back there. I'm not a difficult person, but trying to charge extra for slightly detangled hair in small minor sections sounds like a scam to me. Any properly trained groomer could've easily knocked that out with their eyes closed. Let's be realistic - then the guy receptionist said that she actually gave a discount when it was actually a $25 fee. A matt & combable tangle are two different things. Be fair to potential customers & don't try to be too money hungry. If u work with clients, then they would be open to come more frequently & tell their friends (referrals) about the business. I'm all about being fair & all around transparent. This is my first time a groomer has told me that my dog was "matted" almost as if it wasn't combable. 40 minutes to detangle where? Let's keep it honest people. read more
