TLDR: Our dog was attacked and they claim that he scratched himself. First photo is a pic from them and the rest are after the area was shaved for veterinary care. Judge for yourself if the injuries are scratches or bite marks and if a dog is physically able to scratch itself on the inside of its ear. They are very clearly puncture wounds to us and our vet. --------------------------------------- Dropped off our blind dog 11.24.2025 at roughly 3pm. The morning of 11.28.2025 we received a message that his ear had been bleeding and they believed it was from scratching so they provided him with the expected medical care. Afternoon of 11.29.2025 they told us he was "shaking". My wife was able to pick him up early and take him to the emergency vet (Saturday evening and regular vet closed) who shaved and treated the area and gave him antibiotics. We did follow-up with our regular vet and they determined that the injuries were puncture wounds from a dog attack. When we told them Fur Paws said the injuries were from him scratching himself they looked at us like we had just told them 1 + 1 = 3. In spite of the records we provided from the vet showing his treatment history and their diagnosis of "dog bite wounds and vestibular disease" Fur Paws claims he arrived there with some condition that led to him scratching himself (on the inside of his ear too!). He arrived 11.24, they noticed wounds 11.28, and by the afternoon of 11.29 he was shaking so he had a fever. It takes 24-72 hours for infection and then a fever to occur so one can do the math on their claim that he arrived with an ailment already. Then you add in that these are clearly not scratch marks and you see that they're questioning our intelligence with their explanation. Send your dog here at your own risk. read more

I cannot say enough positive things about fur paws. My two furbabies absolutely love this place. I send them here for their grooming as well as dog boarding. The grooming never disappoints. I am super picky with grooming when it comes to my two doodles and I have been to many many dog grooming places and many of them cannot achieve the puppy teddy bear look that I like. The groomers at fur paws are very consistent and always try to follow the inspo pics I give them. My two doodles always come out looking fresh to death and I love the detailed report cards at the end. In regards to boarding I don't just trust anyone with my babies but I trust fur paws. Prior to boarding them at fur paws I was boarding them at Korob pet hotel and my 2 year old doodle fractured his pelvis and had to undergo surgery while he was boarding with them. I was pretty weary about boarding them again after that traumatic surgery incident but The staff at fur paws are very friendly, understanding, and communicative. I'm definitely a helicopter mom and they always send me updates when I'm away. My two doodles are exhausted for the next few days after I pick them up from boarding from all the fun they're having with their friends. Their VIP boarding room also has 24/7 camera access to the room as well as a nice bed and tv. I also like how you can book grooming and boarding through their online system. It's very convenient. My husband went to drop off our chocolate lab today and as usual went behind the doors to take harness off. The little long haired chihuahua that is usually at the front desk started to bark at our dog. Our dog is pretty skittish and runs from anything that scares her. The lady grabbed our dogs collar and started to pull her to the back doors as the chihuahua began to bite our dogs hind legs. Now the lady said it was cause my husband was there and was scaring the dog. He took that to mean his presence was scaring our dog. Which would be absurd cause he is our dogs most favorite person. Can only assume that she meant the long haired chihuahua was scared of him and was the excuse for why it was biting our dog. Which if this is the case why in the world would you have this dog off leash? It is NOT acceptable to allow my dog to be bitten, and blame us for that poor behavior. I first came here 4 months ago because my dog desperately needed a good grooming and I was new to the area. That first time they did an excellent job and the cost was lower than expected. However, this most recent time, with my dog in much better condition going into his grooming, the service I received cost significantly more and the quality was less. I was told I would be contacted if there were any additional fees (I was not) and now I have overpaid for a grooming that is worse than my previous experiences. His face has patches of longer fur and spots similar all over the body, no attention to detail. Just goes to show it really is hit-or-miss service and communication is no guarantee. I rarely write reviews, especially not bad ones (also during a time like this when a lot of businesses are hurting) but since this had to do with my little baby and since I don't want any other animals to suffer I decided to write one. I had what I hope will be the worst experience I'll ever have with grooming. I was taking my puppy for his first grooming ever, so as you can imagine I did my research before and I picked this place because it had really good reviews. My first impression was that the place was old, worn down and messy. They didn't even say hi when I walked in the door, instead they stared at me like I had walked in the wrong place. I said "Hi I have an appointment", the woman responded with "Who are you?". I told her my name and my puppy's name. She took him from me without saying hi to him and pulled off his sweater and harness very rough. She asked me how I wanted him cut and then walked away with him without saying anything. She put him down next to another dog, luckily my puppy loves everyone so it was not a big deal. Since she left without saying anything I asked "When should I come back?" She responded that she will text me when he's ready. Still up to this point they have not asked to see my puppy's vaccine records (which I couldn't submit beforehand since I got them on my way there), so I asked before leaving if they needed to see them. She told me to just email them. It made me worried that they didn't check his vaccines before putting him with the other dogs. I left with a very bad feeling in my stomach. I texted her a photo of how I wanted my puppy cut, I said I wanted the "puppy look" back. After about 2 hours she sent me a photo of him saying he was ready. Honestly, I thought she sent me a photo of the wrong dog and I didn't even know what to respond. I couldn't even recognize him, he had a long mustache and pieces of longer hair in many places that she had missed. He looked like an old man, even though I asked for him to be cut so he would look more like a puppy again. He was cut so bad that I had to cut him myself with my nail scissor when I got home to get back his "teddy bear" look. The days following the grooming he was itching his butt and ears like crazy. I texted her and found out she had been plucking his ear and squeezed his anal glands. Nothing that I was aware of or asked to have done to my little baby that had no problems with his glands and barely any hair growth in the ears. She told me that it says on the website that it's included in full grooming, still I have never asked for a "full grooming". I just asked to have his hair cut. And even if I would have asked for a full grooming, I still think that I should have been informed about the other things that were being done to my puppy? Today I took him to the vet since days has gone by and he's still itching his butt and ears. She told me that the glands should not be squeezed unless it's needed, and that it can do more harm than good if they don't need it. She also said that she doesn't recommend anyone to pluck the ears of the dog, especially not in a puppy since it's very painful. The groomer also told me that my puppy was fighting (yes, she used that exact word), which makes me wonder what they did to him. This is a dog that everyone that has met him previous (different vets etc) has said it's the most easy and calm puppy they have ever met. Even all the times he's been given vaccines he hasn't even flinched, just been sitting there completely still. When I cut him myself at home, he was sitting completely still the whole time. So if you care for your dog, please take it elsewhere. I feel so bad taking my little baby here, and I don't want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. read more

Joe and I (Rose) rescued Cash (Boxer dog) from the Houston Boxer Rescue (HBR) in June 2018.  We were determined to give him the best and "furever" loving home, nothing less. ). Keep in mind, Boxers are very loving, playful, loyal, protective and INTELLIGENT!  Cash quickly became extremely attached to Joe and me, and we are his "everything." Although Cash was very playful with ALL dogs of any size, listened to commands well, and loved us unconditionally, he did not allow any other human in or our around his "bubble."  God forbid a human approaching us on a sidewalk, a waitress coming to wait on our table at a pet-friendly restaurant, a child running toward him to pet him, or just anyone "looking at" or "sweet talking" to him with praise and affection - he was not taking it. Once another human "locked eyes" with him or gave him any attention whatsoever, he perceived that as a threat, tensed up, growled and lunged forward.  He was simply very distrustful of any stranger being around him or us - that was our main problem with Cash. Despite trying to train Cash ourselves, we looked into getting help for Cash because not only had he become anti-social with other humans, he also had a bit of separation anxiety (which is understandable him being a rescue). After 8 months, I consulted with HBR about the behavioral issues we were having with Cash, and they recommended Fur Paws, LLC - they themselves utilize Fur Paws, LLC for their rescues.  Thus, I did some research on Fur Paws, LLC - there was no way we would leave our pet anywhere for 2-weeks, unless we felt comfortable with the place and had a good gut feeling about it, the trainer, and staff as well. During our initial consultation at Fur Paws, LLC  (Heights location), Jorge Guerra (owner/instructor) quickly identified the problem(s) with Cash, demonstrated a few exercises with Cash right in front of us, and explained in detail what was going on with him.  To our relief, Jorge quickly categorized Cash as non-aggressive.  We knew all along our baby boy Cash was harmless, but it being confirmed by a professional was such a relief.  We were very impressed with Jorge's professionalism, deep knowledge of and experience with canines, interactions with Cash, as well as his friendly staff.  The consultation was positive - we made the decision to leave our Cash for 2 weeks, although we knew it would not be easy.  With Cash being a rescue, the last thing we wanted was for him to be mistreated or feel like he had been abandoned once again. As promised, we received frequent updates, photos, and videos of Cash during his 2-week training, which meant a lot to us, because although we knew he was in good hands while at Fur Paws, LLC, we still needed reassurance (we also missed him so much).   Knowing he was being trained, but also being cared for and treated with love and affection was paramount to us.  It was reiterated to us again and again we could visit Cash at any time during the 2-week training program if we wanted to, but we opted not to (as difficult as it was) simply because we knew our boy missed us and we did not want to create an emotional rollercoaster for him and/or interfere with his training.   All of our questions were answered, from the initial consultation to the last day of training, and any future questions we may have are just a phone call or text away.  The training is 100% guaranteed. Training does not finish at the end of the 2-week training program, it continues at home as ongoing training between the pet owner(s) and the pet, but we feel very confident in knowing what we need to do so that Cash will not revert to his old ways.  Not only did Cash get quality training, we as pet owners received some quality training as well. All in all, we got our boy Cash back - a much more obedient and trusting pet.  During the initial consultation, Cash didn't like Jorge very much (as expected); by the end of training, Cash loved him.  We will not hesitate to utilize Fur Paws, LLC again in the future for any boarding or daycare, if needed.  We feel the training was well worth the money and an investment, and Jorge Guerra (Fur Paws, LLC) delivered exceptional and professional service.  We know Cash will be even happier now being able to be out in public with us, and us too, knowing he has the proper socialization skills.  Cash is part of our family and we want him around our family and friends as well - thank you Fur Paws, LLC, for making this possible.   As I write this review about Fur Paws, LLC, I want to wish our fur baby a very Happy Birthday!  Cash turns 2-years old today - Happy Birthday Cash! read more

There really aren't enough good things I can say about Fur Paws, they came into my life at the worst possible time and provided me with security and a deeper understanding of myself and my dog, Cochise. Our relationship started when my brother passed suddenly, and my dog, who I'd rescued months before, began displaying aggressive behavior. At the time, I was traveling a lot and didn't really know how I was going to manage his disposition. I was also needing a place that I could board him, and I knew he needed help with his behavior. Jorge and Nazira came into my life at a time when I felt very overwhelmed and hopeless. They reassured me that they would help me and convinced me to leave him with them to train him. Cochise was very aggressive towards cars, almost pulling me into the street with him. He'd had a previous accident that left him with three legs which was likely a result of his predatory instinct towards cars. He was also very stubborn, food-aggressive and a whole bunch of other nonsense. Jorge and Nazira gave me the comfort and confidence in knowing that 1.) my dog wasn't broken beyond repair and 2.) that I could trust them to take care of him when I so badly needed help. They were never impatient, they worked with my schedule and with everything I had going on and they were supportive and understanding. They boarded him, trained him and never gave up or me or Cochise. My dog is a different and better animal for it. Because of their support and dedication, the folks at Fur Paws feel like family. They never let me down, and they never let me feel alone. Even when Cochise was on his worse behavior.
