Do NOT buy pond products from Petco. I purchased pond algaecide, used LESS than the instructions advised and the next day I had over $100 worth of fish DEAD. I did everything the instructions said: had an aerator, pump, waterfall, etc. I returned the product, obviously dissatisfied. The "manager" gave me a $14 for the refund but told me there was nothing she would do about my dead fish, even though it was the store product that killed the fish because I didn't purchase them at petco in the last 14 days. We took our pup for a puppy bath and trim. It took around 4 hours and when we got him, he looked happy and clean. The fur was nicely trimmed for our Lakeland Terrier. They trimmed his nails and blew dry the fur so he literally looks like an old woman after a day at the salon. Sarah was awesome as was the lady who took him in when we arrived. The "cat specialist" (Melanie L.) grabbed my cat out of his carrier and began handling him very rough. My cat was clearly not happy about the situation, but what cat would be during their first grooming appointment? Melanie L. clearly did not know how to handle a cat. After about five minutes Melanie L. returned to us stating that the grooming could not be done. She could not even trim his nails. Did she really exhaust all of her resources? She did not try giving him a treat. She did not ask me to stand nearby, maybe to give him a sense of comfort. They were nice. That's all i have to say. They told me my dog would be done in 3 hours. I don't know why my tea cup Yorkie takes that long. I arrived 30 min after the 3 hours because i was worried. They gave me my dog and didn't even blow the hair off her and got me to pay before i picked her up. So, i am covered in hair and I wish i hadn't pay for what they did to her. My dog looks butchered and her nails are still sharp. When i ask about it they said it's another fee. They chopped up her face too. my brother could have done this with scissors it's so bad. Rip off I find it rather disgusting that the in-store price on items differs from the online price. For example, the in-store price for the API Freshwater Master test kit is marked 35.99 on the shelf yet the online price is 22.59. That is a difference of 13.40. The online price is not marked as a sale price but appears to be the everyday price. I have found this scenario to be true on multiple products! When I went to checkout, the associate did of course match the online price and I payed 22.59. This is not the issue I have with this situation. My issue is why don't the prices match? Why is the in-store price so much higher? It appears to be an attempt to rip off customers who are not aware of the price matching option. Whether you believe or not, there are people in this world without smart phones! And even harder to imagine, there are people without internet access... but there are! But it shouldnt matter whether a person is technologically connected. The price for one person should be the price for all people. Apparently PetSmart doesn't see it that way! This company would rather take advantage of people who are not"in the know" about different pricing and price matching! Disgusting! How do they stay in business? First, their front desk people always seem to be put out as soon as you approach them. Secondly, you wait with baited breath to see if they can "fit you in." Finally, they barely did what I asked them to do- a simple face trim. I shelled out ten bucks plus tip, for what, exactly? From a corporate perspective, it's impossible for pets and their humans to walk in and do what needs to be done with next to no space to hand off your pet. There's room for maybe one pet and human at a time. How is this efficient? Also, it's so sad to hear how many dogs are wailing in the back with what appears to be little to no supervision. I usually shop at the Annapolis store or Petco. And now I know why. Stopped in the Mtn. Rd. store for a few things. There seemed to be plenty of employees milling about, there was only one register open. The store was somewhat busy and the line to check out pushed halfway thru the store. A young lady I assume was a manager walked passed the line and instead of opening a second register she yelled at the customers in line to move the line over more because they were blocking the main aisle. There had to be at least 20 people in line and the poor lady at the register was frazzled and complaining. The manger went into a back room leaving the line waiting. Never did open a second register. I don't even want to give this store 1 star. I am so disappointed in this grooming salon. I have a shih-tzu who absolutely hates being brushed underneath. I try my best to brush her thoroughly, I have multiple types of brushes and sprays but she always ends up matting anyways... it's inevitable. She's a lazy dog and lays down majority of the day.... I picked up my dog and the first thing I told Tracey was that she's matted underneath and she immediately snapped AGAIN at me and said "she's matted on her legs too!" I did not appreciate her attitude with me and I told her that I did not need a lecture because that happens every single time I go to Pet Smart. She said "I'm not trying to be rude" but she was extremely rude and then tried to back paddle as soon as she realized she upset me. Your employees have no idea what goes on in people's lives and do not need to be judging and lecturing. To say life has been rough is an understatement. My dog is my best friend and I do my very best to care for her. Everyone who knows me knows this. Again, I shouldn't have to explain this to anyone. I left in tears feeling overwhelmed. Go for the cutest cats! Then adopt one! The prices are higher for cat food than say Target but I wouldn't buy any of the cruddy, low quality cat food sold at Target. There is one super nice, freckled cashier that always asks how many cats I have whenever I buy cat food. Decent selection of kitten food (they NEED it for the 1st year)! I have been able to find more than one brand of kitten canned food (Target only carries one!) and numerous good quality dry kitten foods (never purchased). The only thing I dislike it that all PetSmart stores sell small animals. They only adopt out cats- why not all animals? Small animals aren't exempt from "mills". read more

I have taken both my Australian Shepherds to this Petsmart for grooming. I cannot say enough good things about them. Amanda who grooms my male Aussie (who is 9) is wonderful with him. He loves going to see Amanda and being groomed. As you can imagine my dog has tons of hair and he always comes back looking beautiful. I came to this PetSmart to get some tetra fish. I am a first time aquarist. The first man was very nice, I don't know what his name was but he was an older man, and gave me tops on taking care of the specific fish I got. When I got to check out, the cashier, her name was Raven I believe DROPPED MY FISH BAG. She apologized immediately and offered to be able to return them if they die from the stress of being dropped from 4 feet in the air. Surely enough they died that day. I came back with my dead fish in a Ziploc bag, in tears from being upset and angry. I explained what happened to the person who was in charge of the fish tanks when I returned. Her name was Coral. She snottily said "there's no need to cry about it" then gave me attitude bc the fish I wanted were on the top level of tanks. I also got judgemental looks from the person at check out. Then, those fish showed signs of sickness (discolored scales, wouldn't eat, slimy looking body) and died the next day. I will never purchase fish at this PetSmart again. They sell sick fish and the employees are rude. Do yourself a favor and go to House of Tropicals, they are way more sophisticated than this abomination of a store. read more

I had a very poor customer service experience at this location today. I purchased a Castor & Pollux brand dog food for my pup and began the transition mixing it with her current food. For about a week my pup had no problems and seemed to enjoy the food. I got rid of the receipt thinking the new food was working out well. A few days ago, she began throwing up mysteriously and refusing to eat the new food. This was very unusual as my pup is not a picky eater. I thought maybe it was something else and continued to mix it in with her current food but she refused to eat it and would only eat her old food. I decided to call PetSmart in Towson to see if they could exchange the food. They told me that it was no problem that I did not have a receipt because I was not asking for my money back but an exchange for another food. They also mentioned that as long as the bag was more than half full, they could exchange it for another type of food. I was in the Glen Burnie area and decided to go exchange it at this location. When I explained what had happened to the cashier, she initially told me that they could not accept it because it was open. She called her manager, John, to double check who told her they could not exchange it because the bag had been opened. When I asked to speak to John, he came out and told me that they could not exchange the food with or without the receipt due to PetSmart policy. I questioned this because the other manager at the Towson location had told me it would be fine as long as there was more than half. John told me there was nothing he could do and that I should try the PetSmart in Towson since they had given me this "incorrect" information. Being a lawyer, I decided to look up PetSmart's return policy online and found that the only items that require a receipt for a return or exchange are: Electronic merchandise, such as, collars, fencing and training items Grooming tools Filters or pumps Pet medication or vitamins There was absolutely no mention of food. There was also nothing on company's return policy page stating that they will not exchange opened food. Instead, the company touts its "No-Hassle" return policy. Well, John, the manager at the Glen Burnie location certainly made the experience a hassle. Needless to say I ended up driving to the Towson location, and a store clerk exchanged my product with no questions asked and even gave me a $2 store credit because the food I chose was slightly less expensive. If you are trying a new food for your pet STAY AWAY from the Glen Burnie location. John is an unprofessional manager who does not understand the concept of customer service. read more
