I had my dog groomed here a while back and it ended up costing me a $500 vet bill. I was unaware that she had a hot spot under her neck from the hair cut. She was pretty matted, which we take full responsibility for, as it had been a while since she had gotten groomed. However, they didn't notify us of any cuts or hot spots or anything at all under her chin. In fact, they gave her a cute bandana afterwards. Which I really appreciated at first but after about 2 days I noticed an odor coming from that area and she was shivering uncontrollably. I removed the bandana and under her neck was this awful hot spot that had clearly become infected with pus and bacteria. It was awful. I had to take her to an emergency vet because it was during the weekend hours. It seems very likely that they were hiding her injury under the bandana. If they had let us know, we could have monitored the area and made sure to keep it clean, dry and protected. But because of lack of communication and notification it became so bad she needed medical attention. I would not recommend them for grooming your pets read more

Horrible experience! Went in to purchase itch relief for our dog this afternoon (8/20/24) and asked for guidance on where the products might be. Experienced a ten +minute wait followed by a very odd situation. We were told the cashier directed us to the wrong aisle, told we were "full of s**t" and the employee was going to call the police. When we requested to speak to the manager she followed us again shouting we were "full of s**t". The manager--without asking the details of the situation, as we suspect he knew his employee had serious issues --told us to "leave the store." Simply unbelievable. We've been Geneva residents for over 30 years and have never been through anything even remotely like this-- here or elsewhere for that matter!!! read more

There were two women working in the back by the fish who would not sell us a single goldfish because our tank is 20L and not 29L. A laughed in shock when the women refused to sell me a goldfish. And l asked if she was serious. Perhaps in would have been willing to buy a larger tank. However, the two women were so rude that I told them I could just go to a different pet store that was willing to work worth me and treat customers better. The manager wasn't willing to budge either, using the terrible "p" word policy. Well, we went to meijer and they gave us a fish for our kids. read more

I don't know if I'd call myself a huge fan of PetSmart in general, but I am a big fan of the employees at this particular location. I brought my nine-week old puppy into the store to fit her for a much-needed harness, and was clearly struggling (the harness was a first for both of us). I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to sit on her body, and was in the process of putting it on incorrectly when a very sweet employee sat down next to us and offered to help. She didn't just tell me that an extra small was the right size - she actually fit it to my puppy's exact dimensions and sent me out of the store with the dog already in the harness so I didn't have to figure it out later. Two weeks later, we popped in for some Nylabones on the way to my parents' house, and that same employee greeted us when we walked into the store. She immediately recognized us and asked about the harness. Then she walked us over to the treat section so we could get in and out as quickly as possible. The manager at this PetSmart is also very warm and helpful. When the dog bed we bought ripped when we took the tag off (before the puppy even used it!) and we couldn't find the receipt, she agreed to let us exchange it, which is not the usual policy. We really appreciated her willingness to cut us first-time "parents" a break. On the contrary, when I go into Petco across the street, no one bothers to greet me or ask if I need help finding anything. There truly is a difference between the two, and I'll choose PetSmart any day over the other. read more

We just finished puppy training and we had a wonderful experience! Anthony was so knowledgable and was so amazing with the training! Not only did my pup learn but I learned so much as well and gained the confidence in myself and my abilities to continue training my pup. I signed up for the 6 week training class with the trainer, Bobby. It was an overall wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I were debating between PetSmart, Woof Beach and DePAW. They all offered the same six week course for basic obedience. We decided to go with PetSmart because of the price. It's originally $119 but we had two coupons that brought the price down to $104. This is a big difference from the $250-$1000 the other training courses had to offer. It was a wonderful experience from the beginning to the end. Bobby was very patient with our stubborn husky mix and he taught us everything that we need to know about training him. Bobby was very enthusiastic, educated and an overall great trainer. They're also very understanding if you happen to miss a class. The trainer answered all of our questions and concerns with honesty and knowledge. I would definitely recommend this class. read more

My review is specifically only on the grooming salon. Went to take my pup for a walk in nail grinding was not greeted or felt at all welcomed but was immediately asked if I had an appointment. "Well Hello Good Afternoon to you too!" I let the overly annoyed lady know I did not she asked for my dog's name and said it would be 15min which was fine. After his service I came back and was harshly asked if I already paid? To which I responded yes and then was grilled by questions to get told it's not showing in their system to which I gave her the "ok not my problem" look not sure what she expected me to do(I had asked for an emailed receipt) I let her know what cashier I paid at like I was lying or something the whole experience was not professional at all and left me definitely not making this store my go to ever again .. she didn't have a problem excepting my tip with no questions that I still left her! never again ! read more

I signed my 4 month old pup for a beginner class and decided to drive the half hour from my house to the geneva petsmart so he could train with Anthony M since he had such good reviews. After his last class today I can 100% say it was so worth it. Anthony was an amazing trainer and truly pays attention to each dog & owners individual needs. read more

Yesterday March 25 I stopped to get some shampoo and conditioner for my dog that has some skin issues. I was helped by an associate Lexus who normally works in the grooming department. She was very patient answering my questions and recommended two products which after using worked very well. I am very happy with my purchase and will probably try the grooming services when they reopen. read more

I love this Petsmart. The staff is friendly and always dotes on my pooch Gucci. I mean, he is a handsome little devil but he always gets the royal treatment here, pampered with treats and showered with attention. What I really like about this location though, is that I feel like I see a greater variety of doggies with their owners, which I enjoy immensely since I'm a crazy dog person. The other owners are always really friendly and great about allowing the dogs to socialize (Gucci and I came here frequently when he was a pup). This location is clean as well and conveniently located on Randall Rd. My go to pet store to make my lil one happy. read more

This is the best Petsmart I have ever been to--and I've lived in quite a few places! It is ALWAYS clean, well organized, and doesn't have an overwhelming dog smell. You can tell they take pride in their appearance! The staff is very friendly and has always been willing to help me look for stuff and answer all of my questions. I also took my long haired cat here for grooming. She's not a fan of being brushed on her belly and prefers to walk around while I'm trying to brush her, so she needed some help with her coat! They had all kinds of packages and were willing to listen to what I wanted and gave me some of their recommendations. For example, I told them trying to trim her nails would be nice, but they would be taking their life into their own hands. The woman at the desk recommended a minimal package for me since I really just wanted her mats out. I'm sure she wasn't easy to deal with, but the groomer gave her back looking beautiful and mat-free:) read more

Bought some puppy Purina One last night and this morning discovered it was FULL of maggots. I went back to return it with just my receipt because I was not going to put it in my car. They did give me a refund, but seemed skeptical so I offered to show them pictures. I said maybe they should check the other bags and the manager said, "that's not unusual for purina" and she'd need the code off the bag to check which ones it might be. I told her to expect other people returning maggot ingested dog food. She just walked away. No apology or anything. The associate only apologized when I said I hadn't noticed the night before and had fed some to my puppy. I left and went to Petco where I always get good help. Would have gone there in the first place, but they didn't carry that specific item. read more

This store is by my house so I go here frequently. They have a very young staff. Over the years I've been ok with the service and shop here because I have multiple types of pets. I used to bring both my goldens here for years but stopped because they consistently cut my goldens behind the ears to the point of bleeding. My friend is a professional groomer and said that should never happen. So I stopped bringing my pets to get groomed but used the store to grab my basic pet food. Recently I started to order my food on Chewy, it's just cheaper. But I still used this store for quick pick ups of other items. I have fish in a pond outside and my daughter was in this store with a friend and spotted a koi fish. She is 16 years old and earns her own money so she tried to buy the koi for me. The store wouldn't sell it to her because she's not 18. What is the reason a 16 year old who has a job cant buy a fish for $5.98. Seriously??? Does it come with a pack of cigarettes or something? I can understand not letting an 8 year old buy a pet without their parent but not a 16 year old. You shouldn't be worried about my daughter, you should worry about the teenage girl who waited on us that you shouldn't be employing. I have a business and that girl would never work for me. You see, I went back to the store to get that fish for my daughter. The store was not packed and there were at least 3 employees that I saw. I was in the store for 15 minutes and not one of them came up to me, greeted me or came to the fish department where I was waiting. So I started to walk the aisles to find someone to help me buy the fish. The young girl wearing khakis and army style boots with dark hair in a ponytail saw me, as she was drinking a bottled water, and immediately turned away and walked a different direction. Why do you pay her if she doesn't want to help customers? So I chased after her and told her I need help. She didn't seem happy. She came to the fish area and I showed her which two fish we wanted. As she carelessly caught them and attempted to bag them one of the koi fell onto the floor. She said it jumped. Maybe it did but I've been buying fish for years all over the tri-cities and no one has ever dropped a fish. Then she bagged it and I asked her if it was ok. She said it was. Thst fish was not ok. It was bleeding and starting to float so I told her I didn't want it because it was injured. She then put it back in the tank and it started floating. She kept watching the fish and smiling. Yes smiling. My daughter, the one apparently not old enough to responsibly buy a fish, commented to me afterwards on how callous the girl was. Needless to say, your workers are representatives of your business. I employ young workers too, but I spend a lot of time teaching them good customer service skills. Every customer should get greeted, waiting on customers is a priority, and most of all exper care and kindness with customers. If this girl that waited on us is young and inexperienced then put her at the checkout. Unfortunately you lost a customer that's going to cost you a lot more money than it would to give a little more training. Plus you lost a fish due to carelessness and when pets are your business, that's not good. The reason for the 2 stars, it would be 1 for this experience but I had to balance the convenience of picking up my quick need items over the years. read more

I've been coming to this store for a number of years, and in fact adopted two cats through their adoption collaboration with P.A.W.S. The employees are VERY friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable! I have a cat with allergies and one of their managers spent a long time orienting me towards the healthiest food for him. I've always had all my questions addressed in full each and every visit and the clerks all are cheerful, and extremely pleasant. The store is always impeccably clean, and the cats in the adoption program are very well looked after through the volunteer program! read more

I started a new fish tank with my boyfriend a couple of days ago after I got inspired while walking around a Petco. So we got our tank and some plants that day and obviously waited to get the fish until we had time to get all of our water levels and temperatures right and our plants settled in and planted. When it was time to actually get the fish I wanted to check out a couple of different stores to see some variety. We ended up getting ALL of our aquatic life from PetSmart! You can tell they really take care of their tanks and their fish, especially compared to the Petco and other pet store I checked out. The staff that helped us while deciding what fish to go with were so helpful and kind and answered all of our questions patiently. I used to only go to Petco because it was the store my family used while growing up, but I am officially now exclusively a PetSmart customer. You have some great staff at this location who obviously take pride in the animals and aquatics! read more

This was my first experience ever bringing a pet to be groomed. I have a three month old Morkie who needed her first puppy haircut. I had reviewed other grooming businesses here on yelp, and became afraid that maybe my puppy would be traumatized- which I didn't want- especially since she will need regular grooming all her life! I read great reviews about this PetSmart's Grooming, and called. I got a great guy on the phone, who answered all of my "beginner's" questions, and the pricing was very reasonable. I loved how welcoming the staff was, and how they all continued to answer all of my questions. They eased my concerns & nervousness. Nancy did an excellent job with my puppy! I could really tell that she genuinely loves her job. She made this a fantastic first experience for both me & my puppy! read more

I had a private "training" appointment with Tatianna. She spend the first 10 minutes talking about her dogs. I asked for training tips on my puppy who potties in the house. She suggested "Pee Pads". I told her that I didn't want to start that behavior and give the puppy permission to go in the house. She said it won't be in the whole house...just in that area. (are you kidding me). She didn't give me any advise that I haven't already read in books or on-line. I asked what the "training" included. She said this wasn't training it was a consultation. They advertise it as training...not consultation. I told her I didn't feel like I was getting what I expected, her response "well, what do you want me to do"? What the h*ll am I paying for? After about 20 minutes...I couldn't stand it anymore..what a waste of my time. She escorted me to the registered to check-out (sessions cost $45.00 for 1/2 hour). I said I didn't feel that I got my money's worth. Her response.. "well you're the one who wanted to leave early". I was so mad...I could have spit nails. read more

We are new puppy owners this week. Because we live so close to PetCo in STC we have been going there for all of our puppy needs. Today I was on Randall Rd and decided to stop into Petsmart to pickup some dog food. All I can say is Wow! I can't remember the last time I received such exceptional customer service. Paid for a 15 minute haircut and a nail trim. We stayed in the store and kept peeking in to check how he was doing. For 10 of the 15 minutes he was chained to the pole with nobody cutting him. After getting him back we realized they didn't even touch his nails! Not only that but they barely even touched his hair with the mere 5 minutes they spent on him. This Petsmart is phenomenal! It does not matter who you come in contact with from employees stocking, cashiers, groomers and even the personnel at Banfield. The store is clean and does not have any foul odors when walking in or anywhere else for that matter. Everyone takes your interest to heart and go that extra mile and then some to assist you in purchases or items you are considering for purchase. The grooming salon has friendly caring personnel as well and highly recommend them! We have been going there for nearly 10 years and couldn't receive better service if we did it ourselves! The groomers here are absolutely awful. However, it's not at grooming but at "listening" part. They only groom the dogs how they think they should be groomed. That's all fine and dandy except it's NOT your dog. Gave them three chances to see if they would actually listen to how we wanted the dog groomed and they failed all three times. Avoid dog grooming services all together and find a local mom and pop shop where they actually listen... read more

On a slow holiday, they took a 1/2 inch chunk out of my dogs ear, held him for over 5 hours, then charged full price! It took over two weeks to scab over the ear injury. It was a simple cut and shampoo. My dog and I are both traumatized. I will never take him there again. If I could give negative stars, I would.
