I called Petsmart to confirm that they do pet grooming, they said yes and that I didn't need an appointment since they were not busy. All I needed was his rabies certificate so I make the 25 minutes drive to the location and get sent back because I have my dog in a removable muzzle as a precaution. I am disappointed. As a Staffordshire terrier, and simply a big dog owner, I would expect a little more understanding. The muzzle is a precaution and although my dog is trained and docile, I can never trust another dog to not come up and bite him and expect my dog to not retaliate. What a waste of a 50 minutes drive. DO NOT GO HERE!! We took my dog there to get cleaned and cut. When we got him back, they did not tell us they cut him on the back of his ears and on his back legs. We decided to give it a another chance anyway. This time they were very rude and also flipped our dog on his side. I went to this store twice today and both times I felt judged and ashamed. It was the most terrible experience. The first time I went I was getting my new puppy some dog food and the check out lady asked me why I chose this food and then proceeded to judge me on my choice and telling me I was only getting good food not great food. The lady was so loud and aggressive that multiple people watched the interaction and I left with my head down feeling embarrassed. I did not want to return again, but against my instinct it was the last pet store open. I went in with my new puppy and was repeatedly judged on how my puppy looks. When I told sales guy what breed she was he let me know very abruptly that she is not that breed (even after me doing extensive research and knowing both mother and father of my pup). I was so insulted and judged. Aside from this specific location Petsmart in general has had very poor customer service. When I was on the phone with them I was hung up on after being told I was going to be put on hold. I will no longer be a customer of this store or company and will be warning my other pet lovers to be weary. read more

Yes, we both have to work today while the rest of the world is off doing fun fabulous 3day weekend things, but could you at least manage a smile when I approach the cash register? Second, eff you for not taking my coupon. Every time I buy the SAME EXACT Science Diet dog food, I am given a $5 off coupon on my receipt that I always save and use for the next bag of food. This has been a pleasant money saving cycle for several months now. Until today. You are the only one to point out that you can't take this coupon anymore because it not a 10 pound bag of food ( i have never in my life purchased a 10 pound bag of food for my 13 pound dog. The small bag lasts her 2 months). This is printed in tiny letters on the 3 mile long receipt. Every other time I have used the coupon, other employees have happily taken it. Have you changed your policies? Or do you just hate life and are making me suffer now too? Sadly for me, you have me on lock-down and I have to keep coming here to buy more specialty food for my poop-eating dog as this special "Lamb and rice formula" is the only thing that prevents her from sampling neighborhood dog feces. Clean store and most of the staff is swell, just find a different groomer. One lady talked to me as I walked through with my very excited pup and talked to my dog. She was a treat. Another lady was teaching an obedience class right in he store, which I thought was neat. The girls in the grooming office were really snobby though. They were uninterested in me or my dog and acted like I was bothering them to get my dogs nails cut. The first girl made no eye contact and asked me what seemed like "qualifying questions." I guess I passed because she asked another girl to come help me. Took a good three minutes before the girl from the back came over to help me where she asked me all of the same questions in a very droll tone. She got the dog and had issue cutting the nails because my dog is sort of wild. She had to ask for help to hold the dog down. That was funny. Lol. She barely cut anything which was frustrating because I can cut next to nothing off myself, I wanted a more professional cut but I got a high school minimum wage experience. The lady at the check out tried to give my dog a treat but she didn't like the treat. That was nice of her anyway. It may not be the highest quality, but if you can use it for a pet, they got it. The people that work there are so helpful, it is ridiculous. I flirted with the idea of getting a fish a couple years ago, and in 5 minutes, the dude had me outfitted to run my own aquarium downtown. And now that i have a dog, every time i go up there, I am in there for WAY longer than planned, because they are so thorough. This is the closest Petsmart to where I live/work so it's the one I frequent. The store is usually well stocked and has what I'm in there for. It may not be the cheapest place to buy food or supplies, but they do have sales (which you can look up online) and around holidays if you use your petperks info when you check out you will get a coupon for $5 off to use on your next visit. Makes it worth shopping here. They also have pet adoptions on weekends inside (cats) and out front (dogs) the weather is okay. The Banfield inside this location also makes it easy to pick up things like flea medicine. read more

Admittedly, my dog had matted areas in his coat, but this chick didn't even try to trim him properly. Different lengths of fur on is back, his ears trimmed at different lengths. She gave the least amount of effort possible. This location sucks for grooming. I come here out of convince of location, proximity to work & home. I brought my dog in for an appointment to get a bath and her nails clipped and was not impressed at all. I made a 2 PM appointment two days prior to bringing her in and arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled time. Four hours later I hadn't heard from anyone at Petsmart so I dropped in to pick her up only to find out they hadn't finished with her yet. I had to wait for another 15 minutes so they could finish. They claimed they were really busy, but what is the point of making an appointment? 4 plus hours to bathe and clip a dog's nails is ridiculous. Alright, I am no Ace Ventura when it comes to pet stores, but I find myself looking forward to that day when the dog food runs out and I have to make a run to the petsmart. I realize there might be better, more cost-efficient pet stores out there, but I like the certainty and service here. Most often, I find myself roaming the numerous aisles and aisles lined with unnecessary dog toys, collars, beds, dishes, training books, rawhide bones that you 'just have to have!' Because your dog knows the difference, right??! My favorite part is taking my baby boy boxer to go say 'hi' to his friends in the doggy day care! It makes for some good dog watching! The prices aren't low, but they certainly aren't unreasonable. Especially when they have good deals going on. I mentioned to the lady over the phone that I wanted my dog groomed, bathed, and pampered before his heartworm treatment next week. It took me 50 minutes to drive 9 miles to get there because of traffic. Upon arriving, I greeted them, I was the only person there. 10 minutes later a girl in her nursing clothes walked in. The groomer approached her over me and asked what she was in for. I felt like I was being discriminated in a way. After the nurse told her I was there first she approached me. I told her what I wanted for my dog and they told me they couldn't take him in because he was heartworm positive. Her reasons were understandable, but she could have mentioned that from the beginning over the phone when I told her about it. She told me I could bring him back once he was heartworm negative. Definitely will not be going there to get my dog groomed. Based on all the negative reviews about their grooming services, everyone is better better off elsewhere. read more

I usually take my dog to get his nails ground at the Park/DNT location by Willow Bend Mall, but as we've moved, this is the closest Petsmart. The staff in general was very friendly, but the groomers never asked for my name to look me up in the system. As a Petsmart (and Petsmart Grooming) customer for many years, I know all Petsmart locations are strict on up-to-date vaccinations, and it kind of worried me that the groomers never bothered to look my dog up. I wouldn't trust the other pets at that salon, if this is a common offense. They took him to the back and was speedy about everything. However, when I looked closer at his nails at home, they looked the same length. They were sharper than they should be w/ grinding, so it makes me wonder if they even did anything to his nails. I'll try this place one more time next month, but if the same treatment happens, I'd rather drive the extra 15 min to the other location. read more

We took our pointer mix to the Pet Hotel in May 2015. He was healthy when he was dropped off. When we picked him up he had a horrible bacterial infection in his penis. $500 in vet bills and no response from Petsmart Corporate. The poor guy has recovered but it is not safe to leave pets here. What happened is unacceptable. Wondering if any others had similar experiences. We are outraged! To any trolls commenting on the validity of reviews - keep your snarky comments to yourself. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO THE VET HERE IF YOU WANT HER TO LIVE. Brought in our dog to get her nails clipped and her skin/ears checked. We checked her in at 9:30am, we did not get her back till 5:30pm (1st of all why it took 8 hours I have no idea) and when we got her back, SHE COULD NOT WALK. SHE IS PARALYZED. She has hip dysplasia it is on her file, she really cannot be sitting in small spaces for long periods of time, that is my theory of what happened.. She was also DYING of thirst. I've never seen her drink water like that. They obviously did not give her any water that whole day! We are being forced to put her down now because her back legs are PARALYZED. We paid $300 to get are dog back WORSE than she went in. To the point we have to put her down. Also just a side note, NO staff offered to help us get the dog to our car. She's a bigger dog, and I'm a small girl and they basically said good luck as I struggled to carry my broken, scared, and heavy dog to the car. This Petsmart is pretty a'ight. Good selection of cat toys and for food they have everything from Alley Cat to Royal Canin. There are many types of Fancy feast we get here we can't find anywhere else, like the elusive blue can "Fish and Shrimp Feast" that have big pieces of fish and WHOLE baby shrimp inside. That would be our cat's favorite and something he demands daily, lest we pay the punishment of a nice steaming pile of cat shit on the guest bed. This particular Petsmart is huge and easy for me to swing by during my lunch hour at work. Plus, in the past year or two, they've begun carrying higher-end dog food, which is the only stuff I feed by dog. So Petsmart has become my go-to place for all of my dog's needs. A quick disclaimer: my review is limited to dog items since I'm a dog owner. Still, I'd probably come here if I were looking to add fish, birds, hamsters, or the like to my pet family. Or had a cat. But I digress. The great thing about this Petsmart is the large selection of pet products they carry. They carry everything from dog food, toys, collars and leashes, beds, etc. You name it, they carry it. The not-so-great thing about this Petsmart is that they rarely seem to restock. They always have the dog food I buy (which I thank them for), but I often see empty spaces for other items I've been interested in buying. Specialty collars, for instance. She puts as much care and love into your pet as you would hope anyone would. I asked for a mohawk for my little guy, and she gave him the perfect one! Even beyond MacKenzie, everyone in the grooming area is kind, helpful, and has a deep expertise in their talent. Hotel: My dog loves staying here! I recommend the doggie day care. This is specifically for the Petshotel. I've been shopping here for years and take my cats to Banfield. I decided to try the Petshotel since one of my cats now needs medication. I picked up my cat this a.m. When they gave me her leftover medication, there was clearly a lot more left than there should have been. Even though the medication package and my instructions said how much to give her, they went off the wrong markings on the syringe. Not sure how they decided to do that. If there was a question, why didn't they call? I filled out all of the paperwork. I don't have a home phone so the only number is my cell which I had with me. Maybe they could have asked someone at Banfield which is a quick walk across the store. So my cat now has had half of her medication over the past 10 days. That's the only reason I checked her in. If I just needed someone to make sure she had food, water and clean litter, I could have left her at home and had a relative check in on her. That's what I did with my other cat. What exactly did I pay for? I called three times to check in on her and no one said that they were confused on her medication. That would have been a perfect opportunity to ask me about it. The new manager who started while I was gone said that she knew the amount to give but that others must not have. I mean, how can I trust that they did anything they said that they would do? Now I'm looking for another place to board my cat. It's like a ship of fools over there. Arrrrgghhhhh! read more

Started taking my dog to doggie daycare at this location this week. I've been really happy so far and plan to continue. My primary reason for choosing this location was convenience to work AND hours. You can do late pick ups here...through 9pm. All the other daycare facilities I contacted close at 7pm which makes it really tough for someone who frequently works late. The people are very friendly and know us by name after a few days. They give me a report card with details on what my dog did that day every time I pick him up. They also feed him at no extra cost if I just bring his food with me. Its $18 for a whole day and $12 if I only want one play session (~4 hours). The only downside to this location is that the facility is rather small. Since my dog is large I was wondering if he would get enough energy out of his system in a place this size. It seems to be okay since every night this week he goes straight to bed when we get home. I like that there are always people playing with the dogs attentively. I do wish they had remote webcams to check up on them....but you can't beat the price or convenience. read more

This place is horrible. My boyfriend took my dog here to get a basic dog wash which cost $34.99. We had an appointment for 1:30pm he arrived at 1pm. They told him it was going to be a 2 hour wait and that when they were done with his bath they would call him to pick the dog up. 8pm rolls around and there was no call. My boyfriend then calls them to see if he's ready the day yes . 7 hours is a long to hold anyone's dog for a basic bath! When he picked him up he smelled like wet dog and they barley trimmed his nails. I called to speak to the manager she was not there so hopefully they give us a refund tomorrow when we go back. Which my boyfriend should not have paid in the first place . But he did because he was in a rush to get to work . Do not go here if you want the best for you pet . read more

I never thought I'd review a pet store but, hey, they deserve it! My beau and I come to Petsmart on occasion to pick up your basic pet needs from oversized doggy beds, to kitty clawing deterrents. For that they get an average rating, nothing too special! On our last trip we decided to take our 14 year old black lab for grooming... you know, a day at the spa for our old man! They told us he would stay there for about 4 hours so we left and did our own thing, not paying much attention to our phones. Once we finally looked at our phone we noticed about 5 missed calls from Petsmart so we called back immediately and they told us our poor guy had taken a turn for the worst. We rushed up there and they escorted us back to the emergency care area where they had our buddy on a stretcher with an oxygen mask and hooked up to IV fluids. The Veterinarian was called in on her day off and there was a vet employee sitting with him and loving on him the entire time. Without going into too much detail, we were given privacy to love on our sweet dog and say our goodbyes. They even stayed past the store closing time so my beau's brother could come up and say his goodbyes, as well. They treated us with grace and told us they would be covering the cost of the emergency care. As we left, the manager came up to us and expressed his sympathy and told us to let him know if we needed anything at all. Yesterday, we received a bouquet of beautiful flowers with a kind note. Petsmart went above and beyond in my opinion. 5 stars! read more

Doggy day camp is AWESOME at this PetSmart! $19 per day, and the staff is so friendly. They love my dog, and he loves them back! Whenever i drop him off- he runs to them wagging his tail and is so happy to see them. That speaks volumes to me. He comes home worn out and happy, with a report card to let us know how he did. I like this Petsmart location better than others I've been to in Dallas. For our pups, they've always got our food in stock, and they have a large selection of bones, toys, and treats. Others have had much smaller selections that we weren't pleased with. We always go just needing food and then leaving with a TON of doggie goodies. The dogs always know when we go to Petsmart without them and immediately start raiding the bag as soon as we get home. Now, if you bring the pups with you and get approached by a worker, know a sales pitch is coming (food, training, etc) and get out of it quickly (it usually starts with "Oh, look how cute!" to the pup). I've been to a number of Petsmart stores where this happens so it's just a part of the sales tactic there. That's my only complaint about the Petsmart experience. Overall, the selection is great, and we love the Martha Stewart line of accessories! I've never tried the training classes, grooming, or vet services and don't plan to; this is our doggie-grocery store. read more

Keep in mind that the store is pet friendly, so you can bring youre dog here on a leash. This location has grooming, vet service, training, and animal day care as well. When you are shopping for items, keep an eye out for sale pricing for Pet Perks members. You can save a good chunk of money this way, especially when you are buying pet food. The store can get pretty crowded, and sometimes checkout is a little slow if there are not enough registers open. As a close by pet store, it serves its purpose. read more

Old Town is BUSY! Be prepared to drive around for a space or try to squeeze in to a compact space. With that out of the way, It's cool to see a place in Dallas where pets are allowed inside a building. Even from the outside, they have a stand with convienient poop bags and the surrounding areas are surprisingly land mine-free. Inside is clean and well lit. There's usually have enough employees to help you there. It seems the fish dept is the most knowledgeable thus far. Other big things in there: dog training, doggie day care, vet, grooming, adoptions on weekends, and you can get a dog tag made there. It's not a specialty shop, but it's got every basic thing you could need for your stinky best friend. read more

Other times, you will get idiots that seem like they've been high all day. My biggest complaint is that the store never seems clean. I've picked up a bag of food that a dog had peed on before. This place is just consistently a poor experience. I have been here many times, and it's never been good, but my most recent visit turned me off from ever going back if I can avoid it. I believe I confirmed several times that I had an 11:30 grooming appointment, so when I walked in at 11:30 sharp, I was shocked when one of the groomers exclaimed that I was 30 minutes late, which was obviously embarrassing and, to my knowledge, false (it's my word against theirs, because they never sent an appointment confirmation). Thankfully, they still saw my pup. Then they gave me an invoice to go pay up at the front for my grooming, and I waited in an enormous, slow-moving line, as I do every time I shop there. It's consistently a long wait to check out, even when it's not that busy, and they never seem to be able to fix that. It was just a stressful and annoying experience. The employees are generally nice but the place is just a circus whenever I visit. read more

However- don't trust the pet hospital to give your dog a lot of attention or medical help. I noticed new growths on my dogs under carriage before taking my dog in for shots and a check up and nothing was ever mentioned to me concerning. Took my dog later that week to Uptown Vet and southwestern medical team found them to be pre cancerous. read more

I started taking my dog here for daycare about once a week for a couple of months since it was on my way to work. Granted, this was his first ever doggie daycare experience and I knew he had separation anxiety, but I should have known something was up by the way he howled and cried every time I dropped him off. First, having to call to schedule a daycare appointment is time consuming and annoying. This is 2016, why can't you schedule online?! Second, the room is very small and cramped considering how many dogs are in there and there is not enough staff to make sure everyone is behaving. Finally, the customer service was less than ideal. I would drop him off on my way to work so obviously I am in somewhat of a hurry, but there were many times where I would be waiting at the check in desk watching 3+ people walk by completely avoiding eye contact with me. I have since moved and started taking Bandit to another daycare (which has a camera and GREAT staff) and he still whines every time we pull up, but only because he can't wait to get inside and play with his puppy friends. The 2 stars are for the cheap prices and having a good selection of dog food. tldr; find somewhere else to take your furbaby to daycare! read more

When I adopted my dog about 6 months ago, I went to this Petsmart for supplies and food for my new love. Let's face it, they have everything. I go at least once a week; I really love that I can swing by prior to work. They open really early, which is also nice if you have an emergency food situation. Turns out my dog has allergies to chicken and some grains. Awesome! (Yes, that was sarcasm.) They have these refrigerated food logs for dogs available with no chicken..so a nice man working there suggested we try bison (Huh?) and salmon. the salmon did the trick. Thanks, guy! Now she's back to full-coated fabulosity, so I just went to pick up one of those Furminator brushes (works like nobody's business, by the way) and some shampoo to keep her sparkly and smelling like a lime. When in doubt, go here. They're helpful and they'll have whatever it is you need. read more

I have had good experiences here. The staff are always friendly, but not completely knowledgable. I have had good experiences with the grooming salon. My dog is happy after he leaves and his hair always looks nice and he smells clean. I will keep coming back! I think that it's a fair price for the job done. I have used the boarding here and it was great. This has been one of the only places that I have taken my dog and he hasn't gotten sick. I was waiting in line at the pet hospital and saw a heavyset girl with pink shorthair get frustrated with a brown and white spaniel while giving it a cut, because it wasn't straightening out its leg like she wanted while standing. She got pretty aggressive with it. Jerked on its leg a few times then yelled at it and picked the whole back end of the dog up and forced it back down pretty hard. This just happened on 1/5/18, 5:30ish pm. I don't know who's dog it was, but the dog was very uncomfortable after that and it was uncalled for. Hopefully the owner sees this and doesn't bring their pup back. read more
