I've taken my rescue dogs to Kinder Critter for grooming and have always appreciated the kindness of their groomer, Amber. Unfortunately, my recent interaction with the owner was one of the worst and shocking customer service experiences I've ever had. One of my dogs is a high-anxiety rescue who requires medication for grooming, and couldn't be groomed that day due to construction noise going on at the facility. When I asked to briefly speak with the owner about the situation, he interrupted me before I could explain and said, "That noise is not our problem. I don't care." When I questioned that response, he repeated, "I don't care. Just leave." I was honestly stunned and simply picked up my dogs and left. A few minutes later he called me. Instead of speaking to me in a professional way, he immediately justified his behavior by saying he was stressed because of the construction. When I told him I wasn't returning he called me a "two-faced b****" and told me to "f*** off" before hanging up on me. The front desk staff were kind and professional, and Amber has always been wonderful with my dogs. But the way I was spoken to by the owner was shocking and completely unacceptable. Pet owners trust businesses like this with animals that are essentially members of their family. Being told "I don't care" twice by the person running the business, followed by that kind of treatment, destroyed any confidence I had in returning. I cannot say enough good things about this place, we absolutely love it! Their prices are very affordable, they are super friendly and you can definitely tell they love animals and will take good care of your fur babies. My mom has been going for years and it was a no brainer when my husband and I got our Aussie mix puppy that he would be going there too. He loves it and always comes home exhausted, which we love too as he has a ton of energy. I'm a total worrier (worry about everything and anything) but never feel the need to worry when he's at Kinder Kritter as I know he's in great hands. My dog's ear was severely torn at Kinder Kritter doggy daycare on 5/12/22, requiring stitches. The General Manager called not to see how our pet was but to inform us that "she was running a business and could not afford to reimburse everyone for incidents that might occur there" How's that for customer service. I'm not sure if the new owner knows how this business is being run. The staff is terrific but seems demoralized under the General Manager. After a 3 day delay due to DFW Airport closure & 3 cancelled flights we finally arrived & were on our way to pick up our dog. This was on a Saturday & they close at 5. I called & told her that we were on our way & MIGHT be 5-10 minutes late. Her response? "We're running a business & can't stay late. We have employees that need to leave." My dog June absolutely loves Kinder Kritter. We have used them for daycare, boarding, and bathing. The entire staff is so friendly and pricing is very fair. During quarantine June got used to having me home and became a little short with other dogs due to lack of socialization. Kinder Kritter was kind enough to work through it with us by monitoring her carefully and she has made great strides. When I ask her if she wants to "go to camp" she loses her mind with excitement. I never intended to write a bad review on this business, but after submitting my paperwork and receiving a reply denying my 5 month Catahoula / pitbull mix I figured they deserve it. The response stated "we just don't take staffords". Nowhere on their website or paperwork does it state "breed restrictions". If anyone who is reading this has ever owned a Pitbull or pit mix you can understand how infuriating and ignorant this reply was, because by definition my dog is considered a mix breed. Furthermore I even told them he is taking on the traits of the Catahoula side, (which I am sure had he been full Catahoula would have been welcomed in with open arms). This only goes to show how close mined and unaccepting the person that runs this business is. She also always comes home happy and not stressed. She's a hard dog to stress out (she watches fireworks with us on the 4th of July, if that tells you anything), but with other groomers, she's a nervous wreck when we get her home. We were charged a cancellation fee that is not in the paper work. They called and left a message the afternoon of the 7th day prior to ask about cancellation. We called two days later after listening to the message. We called and they said it didn't matter when they leave the message that people don't call back. They decide to group all pet owners into one bucket. My advice to my wife in the future is to find a new place for the dog if needed. Went the first time and the cut was all wrong. I took responsibility for the miscommunication and decided to give it another try. Went the second time and they called an hour later and said my 7 month old 30 lb labradoodle was stressed because of the blowdrying and it took two men to hold her down! WHAT?? Why, if she showed stress would you continue to force a blow-dry and forcefully hold her down????? They called to have me pick her up and stated they would not do the groom. I asked why they proceeded with the hair dry and why they could not just let her air dry and never received an answer. I was there within 5 minutes of the phone call and she was not stressed, she was almost dry but I wanted to get her out of there. They clearly cannot handle animals and do not have the knowledge or experience that is needed to be flexible with situations and appropriately manage when a dog shows signs that they do not like something. They also said they had a video of the entire thing, but when I arrived they no longer had the recording. I found another groomer that is much more knowledgeable, does a slow dry without using a harsh blowdryer and is much more experienced. Be careful of KinderKritter and PLEASE look elsewhere! read more

Kinderkritter did a very nice job de- shedding our German Shepherd mix. His undercoat is gone as requested and his coat is nice and shiny now. I would guess they took at least a couple of pounds of hair out. Love it. Super nice staff too. read more

My heart is broken. I have used Kinder Kritter for the past 9 years, ever since I got Benny. Never had a problem Developed a great relationship until about 8 months ago. I was having issues with the grooms that Benny got. I wasn't happy so I finally said something. They had me talk directly with the groomer so her and I were on the same page. I went to pick Benny up and still was not happy. They took Benny back and showed the groomer what I wasn't happy with. Came back out, nothing had changed. The response I got was "Benny is hard to groom". Are you kidding me, after 9 years, your going to tell me that he is HARD to groom. We have started a collage on the refrigerator with the great pictures we get of the dogs when we pick them up. My black lab was abused as a pup. She is two now, but still very timid. When we took her to Kinder Kritter the first time I felt great about leaving her there because the staff was so good with her. She wasn't scared long and was off playing. We found Kinder Kritter because it is close to our house, and decided to try out their grooming service. The folks at Kinder Kritter are extremely nice and caring when it comes to our Scottie. They spent a great deal of time making sure they knew exactly how we wanted him trimmed. When we came back, they had our Scottie running around with the employees behind the front desk. They are so good with him, and he enjoys going there. I was so confident in their care, that when we had to go out of town and board our dog, I took him there. One of the great amenities they have is a "doggie cam". Even though we were out of town, I could log in and could see the employees playing with our Scottie. When we returned to pick up our dog, they had a report card for us, along with pictures of him playing with the other dogs. What a great place. read more

The first time we came here. The groomers cut our dog hair perfectly. Once my mother went to pick up our dog, she spoke Spanish with another customer that just came in. The lady that was in there working didn't like them speaking Spanish and made a rude face expression. Ever since that incident they have been cutting our dogs hair how ever they wanted trying to make us leave and take our business else where. So we did. I work next door to Kinder Kritter and thought I would try them out to trim my Bailey's nails. To my surprise they not only trimmed, but used a Dremel tool to round the edges of her nails. The added bonus: They love dogs there! I have since left her all day for doggy day care while I work and picked her up when I am done. Once boarded the two of them for 10 days-eep- but could watch them on heir live video feed which quelled our anxieties about this lengthy stay. This is a super long review, but I feel that I need to explain the situation. My past experiences here have always been good, the staff is very nice and attentive and since my dog has gotten used to this location I always bring him here even though every time I pick him up or my mother we find a minor detail that needs to be fixed, like his chin hair is too long, or the hair around his feet, or we wanted the hair on his ear cut to the leather, and we always end up asking for these things to be fixed. I was told the groomer felt offended that we thought she didn't do a good job since we always asked for these things to be fixed before leaving, and something about how my mother speaking in Spanish offended her more because some of the other staff spoke Spanish as well but she didn't, however every time my mother spoke in Spanish either my brother or myself translated so they could understand better her broken English. The groomer has never told me this directly the little times I have seen her since she mostly stays in the back. Yet all the things that we needed fixed are clearly stated in the card, the staff and I have double checked it constantly. I suppose many people would have gone somewhere else but my dog is fussy and we feel that he has gotten used to coming here and they were always minor mistakes. I apologized to the staff I spoke to that the groomer felt offended however in my mind i always thought that if she remembers who my mom and my dog is from the hundreds of dogs she grooms every day then why doesn't she remember how we like his grooming done, that has always been my question since I was told she felt this way yet i never voiced this to anyone there since I didn't want her to feel even more offended, the things we do for our dogs comfort. I hear she has no problem my dogs fussy behavior that it is mostly how "unsatisfied we are with her work". After I did the apologizing a couple of months ago I called to book another appointment for his summer cut and this time no one told me anything about how the groomer was feeling so I thought everything was fine. They called to confirm, everything is going well. The day finally arrives and we show up to drop him off and are told that they cannot take him in because they are afraid the groomer would quit on them if they took in my dog. Since when did this become a quitting matter, and more importantly why did they say nothing when i scheduled the appointment or they called to confirm. A whole week passed by with nothing, and once we are there dropping him off that is what they claim. A simple phone call before the scheduled appointment would have sufficed, instead we shuffled our work schedule to be able to drop him off and pick him up only to be told that, very unprofessional. If that is how they felt they should have told me before like they did last time, that way I could have started looking for a new groomer sooner, very disappointing. Nevertheless, apart from the minor details we always wanted to be fixed, i do believe she is an experienced groomer albeit a little delicate. I actually recognized her from when she worked at PetSmart, she is actually the one who gave my dog his very first puppy cut, so I thought he was in good hands behavior wise. I never had to deal with any nicks and cuts other people complain about, my dog always came out happy to see me. In my opinion this was never a big deal to us, but I guess it was to her. I feel this has gone overboard, yet she must understand that some owners want the best for their dogs and my mom wants the best for ours and if she feels that something can be done to make his grooming better she is going to voice this in either Spanish or broken English, but always respectfully. My mother and I have never been rude or raised our voices to anyone there especially not to the groomer since she mostly stays in the back. So that is my experience, I recommend going here to anyone just be sure to bite your tongue if you want something fixed or adjusted to your dogs final grooming. read more

We've been taking our boxer/pit mix here for about two years to be groomed. We thought we would try them out for boarding so in calling the receptionist ask for information on our dog. When I mentioned her breed she kept asking questions. Finally she said that they don't take fighting dog mixes and we were not allowed to board there. We relocated to dallas so we do a lot of travel and a lot of boarding for our dog. I've never once had a facility turn her down for being a pit mix. Awful that a place still considers pitbull mixes as a threat :-(. We've never had an issue with her in the 4 years we've had her... Being new to the Lakewood neighborhood, I have been looking for a new place to board my dog. I have heard great reviews about this place but when i called to schedule boarding for my dog for one day over the weekend (sat with pick up on Sunday) I was told they would need to speak with their manager first and give me a call back. I waited a full day with no phone call and so i called back the next day. I was told again that the manager would have to make the decision and that they would call me around 3pm when they arrived to work. Of course for the second time I didn't get a call back...Thank goodness I went ahead and scheduled boarding at another place across town or my dog would have had no place to go. I understand not having room to board, but geez... Be courteous and professional and at least return your phone calls so your not leaving potential customers high and dry!! read more
