This store is a pass. The moment we walked in, there was a very unpleasant smell noticed. The smell persisted while walking throughout the store. It was a combination of foul water and a diaper smell. Perhaps the fish tanks and pet stations need a cleaning? We came in search of harnesses. They had a good variety. The prices were a bit high, and the displays were a bit disheveled. A lot of the harnesses we became fond of, unfortunately, were out of stock in the size we needed. We then went to look at the treats aisle and noticed a handful of dog food bags that were on the bottom shelves had an accumulation of dried urine on them. Just something to note and advise to perhaps not purchase any items from any bottom shelf. In our entire visit, we also noticed no one greeted us, asked if we needed assistance, etc. We ended up leaving and headed to the Petco just down the road and had a much better experience there. read more

We purchased a Pet Ball Launder... that worked for about a week... so I looked up to return to the store.. for a swap... Called the store and they said they have 5 so bring it in and swap...... Eve of Christmas Eve traffic.... was not easy.. but went in the store to swap was told to just get on off the shelf.. and there was not one .. so had them check in back.. and none... so employee simply offered no help.... I call another Pet Smart store in the area... and they swapped and had no issues... so My next Years worth of Dog food or Toys or Grooming won't be at this one ... and the MGR of this store solved nothing...... I have a son in the spectrum and the lady with the cats for adoption was super patient with my son explaining him everything he was asking and showing him how to treat and let them. We also came to get some food for our gecko and the lady with the name Noemi was really good explaining us how to take a good care of our pet and took the time to answer all our questions since we are new with reptiles and she is very well informed on how to help others! Had great experiences here until today. Some lady in a Gray "Thrive" brand shirt refused to sell me guppies because they are being put with turtles. Keep in mind the turtles they're gonna be with are just a tad bit bigger than the guppies and in no way can do them harm. I've done aquatic tanks like this for years, they're not being put in there feeder purposes. If they get eaten when they're old (it does happen) then that's just apart of it. However that's part of it being an ecosystem. 60% of the fish, you employees take care of end up dying. I could easily do better than you. Don't come here. These people not only lie and pick and choose what dogs they want to groom. I took my small yorkie mix to get groomed and they told me his tail was "severely matted" yet took him and groomed him just fine. The next day I brought my golden doodle and they said the same thing, turned me away and told me to get her tail surgically shaved at the vet because they can't do anything. I was very confused and explained that they said the same thing the day before and still took my dog, but they still refused. Anyway, I took her to the vet only to waste $60 and be told by the vet that her tail wasn't bad at all and that I need to find a new groomer because they should have been able to groom her. The experience spoke for itself but my vet made it even clearer that this place is unprofessional and has no idea what their talking about. Disappointed and won't be back. read more

If i could give this a negative star, i would! i went in before 5 to get my dogs nails trimmed. i told the man that my dog did not like men and proceed to still drag my dog into the trimming area. she reluctantly goes and as he is clipping her nails, she sits down. he tries to lift her up by going underneath and in between her legs and grabs her near the crotch to lift her up! she of course snaps back at him! disgusting behavior and will never go back! my poor dog doesn't need to be groped while getting her nails clipped! read more

You can actually see these classes taking place in the middle of the store behind a wall. It has a glass over look above the fence wall where you see through to view other dogs and and dog owners being trained by a qualified trainer. Best time to view this is on the weekend. Pet grooming: You can bring your pet here to be groomed. You can see other pets being groomed through the plate glass window. It's like a show watching dogs getting a hair cut. I placed an order on 5/21 and as per usual it never showed the order to my store yet it drafted from my card. This is an ongoing issue with your online service and I've had it happen more than I would like to admit. I continue to try this service due to being immunocompromised and being amidst a pandemic so I tried again after being promised the issue was resolved. Obviously it was not fixed though so Not only was I forced to go into the store and pay more for Items I was supposed to get on the pay now pick up in store promotions, but it has now been over two weeks and I STILL do not have my money back on my card. I never write reviews, but felt I needed to here. Grooming service is terrible...move along. Drop off and pick up is a joke. 2 Petsmart employees cut in front of me waiting to enter the groomers area where only one person can be in there at a time. I had 4 dogs groomed and had to get them 2 at a time. I had to leave the dogs in the hot car while company employees delayed paying customers...more than 10 minutes. Dogs baking in the car. Could have done 2 one day and 2 the next but they should have not cut and accommodated me better. They nicked side of my dogs face and it quickly turned into a $300 vet bill for the infection. Poor hygiene on their clippers the vet said. They have to be cleaned with alcohol. Just like human hair salons. They failed to groom the entire head of my puppy saying he was biting them. I had to come home and try to finish the job. My dog has never bit anyone. Bunch of babies and whiners. Part of grooming dogs is getting them to get comfortable with grooming. Twice they charged me for matted hair when there was not any since we checked prior to dropping them off. Another time my poodle has a full tail and the groomer shaved the entire tail saying it was matted...not charged???Ahh, they were just lazy. Need I go on? Unprofessional, poor quality work, and a PITA overall. Gave them a shot and we will not go back. The employees cutting in front me really did it for me. read more

The only reason I am giving it one star is because the system is making me, otherwise I would rate them a NEGATIVE star. I just received a call from my wife. Apparently, PetSmart on Gunbarrel Road (person she talked to was Jennifer) refused to do our dog with respect to grooming (as they have done in the past) because my wife called to tell them that sometimes our dog gets a little nervous and may need some additional patience and care. Mind you this is not the first time we have brought our dog Chewie to this location. First, Jennifer was not customer friendly and had a smart attitude. My wife is a very patient person and this conversation really got to her. Second, the fact that you work in a PET store, you would think people are all about the care of the actual animal. My wife asked her if someone else could take care of Chewie since Jennifer apparently didn't want to and without enough time lapsing to go check, she almost immediately said no one (there were four people on staff). Third when my wife went to go get Chewie, he was handed to her WET and not groomed in the cold of the winter (current temperature is 44 degrees). Talk about seriously unprofessional and rude and an extreme failure of being customer focused. We will NEVER, NEVER take Chewie there to be groomed again because he deserves better treatment than that. Now it is going to take Chewie time to calm down because he was SERIOUSLY nervous and anxious and now afraid where my wife now has to comfort him from this traumatic experience. read more

if I could give this place negative ratings I would. horrible customer service. We have been getting our dog's prescription food from Petsmart for YEARS with our actual vet's prescription. We came in, like normal, to get our dog his food and it was a complete debacle trying to get the food. They first told us the Banfield version was expired so we brought in the original version from our vet which does not expire. The manager was called and said we couldn't get the food without a Banfield prescription. Banfield is closed at this point and then they said even if we wait to until tomorrow, they still won't accept it because our vet had to call the Banfield vet. I understand having a process for things but I don't understand making people jump through hoops who already have the actual prescription. It should NOT be this hard to buy a A BAG OF DOG FOOD. People that do not go to Banfield shouldn't have to RELY on Banfield. (Also, Banfield SUCKS!!! Took our dog there for years and they literally couldn't even treat/diagnose his hot spots. We picked him up once and he was fully covered in his own feces because they hadnt taken him out all day while they were treating him. I would NEVER trust them again with my animals). I can't imagine turning people away that are just trying to buy their dog food with an actual vet's prescription. read more

I took my 7 year old dog in to be groomed. (Her regular groomer was booked up and couldn't see her till the 1st.) The grooming manager at PetSmart was gruff and the staff wasn't really that friendly to my dog when I dropped her off. But I figured they were busy and not every place has time for my dog's kisses or to do introductions. Based on the reviews, I figured it would be ok. A half hour after dropping her off I got called and told "Your dog isn't right for our salon." If a normal dog isn't right for your salon, or you as a PetSmart groomer, you shouldn't be a groomer- work at a pet store. I would never recommend taking your dog to PetSmart based on this experience. The groomers are not interested in working with dogs- it's like Wal-Mart for animals- where the employees are angry and do as little as possible. For anyone needing a dog groomed- I would recommend working with a local groomer who is trained and has years of experience working with dogs. A relationship of trust is important not only for you but you pet. I guess it's true that dogs can tell when you care about them- because every animal I saw being taken into the PetSmart grooming salon had their paws dug into the ground. The pet salon employees are always rude. I have been there several times and they always accuse my dog of having red or infected ears even though he was just at the vet a few days ago. I always take him for a vet check before grooming to make sure his skin, nails and ears are in good shape beforehand. They don't care and think their opinion is above the veterinarians. I came here to pick up dog food and treats for my sweet English mastiff. This location is super convenient and run off gunbarrel road across from all the places I had to do errands today, I.e Loews and Bank of America. Made for an easy trip! I call that winning. This petsmart has ample amount of parking, the inside is large and very clean. The place is well organized and things are where they should be which I love. The sales associates are also very nice and always helpful. Today Angela helped me check out, and she was great. I had 4 different coupons, and asked if I needed to ring things up each individual items, and she told me I wouldn't have to. That saved lots of time. Since my phone is cracked (sorry too cheap to fix it right now), she had to manually input it and she didn't seemed bothered or annoyed which made me feel better. After the transaction was completed, I looked over my receipt and realized one of my coupons hadn't went through because it took off one item and ignored the others, so I asked if she could help me, and she was so nice about it. In the end I saved $45 and paid only $35 for a 25 lb bag of food, and 3 bags of dog treats. Guys, the bag of dog food alone was $39.99. This is a good pet store to go to. The competitor in town is a much smaller location and I like this one much better. Way more space and hence selection. The pricing on things varies. Sometimes I think things are outrageously expensive and then other times I feel like I'm getting something half the price of other places. Just depends I guess. They have a ton of stuff for dogs which is good for our dog. The cat stuff isn't the greatest selection though. I needed a new cat box about a month ago and the selection was really weak here. Definitely an area to improve upon. In general the store is clean and the staff are helpful. We love taking our dog on an outing to get a new toy or something. read more

It is sad when a company that was run so amazingly gets new management and goes down the drain! This location no longer welcomes a dog rescue for personal reasons. That is beyond sad, it should be about finding the dogs forever homes. A Paw and a Prayer will continue doing adoptions through petco, who will now be getting all of my business. With 2 large dogs, a bearded dragon and a cat, it was quit a bit of money I would spend there. Hopefully anyone who reads this understands what an amazing job A Paw and a Prayer does to help dogs. 600 adoptions since March! Very unimpressed! I tried to buy a butterfly for a 20 gallon tank and even though I said I would be getting a bigger tank very shortly, they said "I cannot sell to you" then turned and walked away. It took me an additional 10 minutes to find someone to explain this, when I did she took 15 minutes and then came back and said "Koi outgrow a 20 in a month you need a 75 gallon." And that was it. I have had a Koi in my tank for 6 months and they grow slow. So if you want any fish and don't have a 75 gallon then I recommend going somewhere else, I know that I will. read more

I shop in this store all of the time. However, made big mistake when I left grooming of my fluffy little aussiedoodle to the discretion of the groomer. Oh my. Did not even recognize my dog! She went in with long white hair and came out looking like a hairless cat! I think the groomer (not going to name her) was having a bad day and did not want to do the work because she took the easy way out and just shaved...unevenly, mind you! Very disappointed. I bought a cat there for my granddaughter. The cat's name is Butterscotch and she has been awesome! I had a wonderful experience.

The store itself is fine. Just tried the grooming salon for the first time. I asked for a bath and nail trim & file for one dog, and a bath, hair trim, and nail trim & file for another. When they returned home, with the bill being $70+, their nails were not filed well at all! And the dogs coat was still stained! When I called to ask what they can do to fix it, they said it was my dogs fault because they were "wiggly" and to bring them back in (which would be over an hour of my time again wasted). One of the reasons I've supported Pet Smart is because of the adoption days they allow A Paw and a Prayer do. It is a wonderful organization and I spend a ton of money on 3 pets between products, grooming etc. I'm taking my business elsewhere as I understand that pet adoptions through A Paw and a Prayer are no longer allowed there. I take my dog to training classes here. We have been to the beginner class and are now in the intermediate classes. We love them. Especially my dog. Our beginner class was a big class with about 7 dogs in it. Our intermediate class only has 3 dogs in it. I like the smaller class because we get more personalized help and attention. Our teacher, Nancy W, loves dogs. So great with all the dogs. Puppy whisperer. My dog, Louis, especially loves her. I find the training methods useful and easy to implement. If we are having troubles with something, Nancy will offer pointers and customize the training so my dog will understand the commands better. We thoroughly enjoy going and learning. It's a fun thing to do together. I would recommend Petsmart training classes to anyone trying to teach their dog basic commands. I have a very well behaved pup now! read more

We took our dogs in last Sunday to be groomed. We were only gone for 15 minutes when we received a phone call saying our dog was injured and bleeding. They stated he needed to be taken to the vet to be looked at. He ended up having to be put to sleep and have surgery. The grooming department can still not tell me what happened to our dog. I phoned corporate on Monday morning and was told they would call me back in 3-5 days. Still haven't heard back from them. This morning called the vet to take him back to be looked at because incision was leaking and the vet was booked. I phoned the store back and the man who answered said he was the manager. His name was Jeff. When I told him what was happening he said he would have to call the store manager to see what to do. He phoned me back at 10 to say bring the dog back to vet. The time frame he gave me would not work because I would have to be there within 30 minutes. I live that far away and would not make it in time. He was very rude to me. I told him I didn't appreciate the way he was speaking to me and his answer was you are welcome. NEVER TAKE your animals there! They are rude and careless! Worst customer service ever!!! read more
