Having come in from just visiting the Petsmart down the road and not having a pleasant experience there, this Petco was a breath of fresh air (literally and metaphorically). We walked in and first noticed no foul odors and then were quickly greeted by a friendly staff member. We came in looking for harnesses. Their merchandise is well stocked with organized, clean, and cute displays. They have a good selection of harnesses, leads, collars, and flotation vests for dogs. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a good clearance section too. While walking around the store, we stopped by the small animals for sale. Happily, they all looked healthy. We appreciate how clean and tidy this store was kept as well as how friendly and helpful the staff were. We'll definitely return to this Petco for any future needs for our dog if we can't find it first from a mom and pop store and need the selection. Highly recommend. read more

Customer service!! I was waiting to checking out and the lady in front of me had a large bag of dog food and the cashier was rude to her because she could not put it in the counter. The cashier grabbed the bag tearing a hole in it and mubbled under her breath. She then went to get some tape and when the lady ask her to get her another bag she started mubbleing under her breath and being very rude. This girl does not need to be running a registe. Petco is a complete pet store offering many pet services and pet supplies. It's located to the right of Best Buy off of Gunbarrel Road. They have pet adoptions mostly on the weekends. I saw many pretty dogs and cats ready to be adopted. Most I saw were well mannered and obedient. They have pet grooming. Check out the picture I took of a German Shepherd being groomed. He seemed to enjoy it. After all, he's getting a brush massage and being petted at the same time. They offer pet training. I wished I could do less than a one star review I had made an appointment 6 weeks in advance for a full spa day and groom for my golden doodle Ruger and when I showed up they told me they canceled my appointment because it was an online appointment. They said I didn't confirm it but you have to put your phone number in the app to even make the appointment and then you confirm it through a text message. The sad part is they never even called me about anything to tell me they canceled my appointment until I showed up. This is very unprofessional and a waist of my time and the sad thing they didn't even show any kind of condolence or even say sorry. I would not recommend them to anyone. I had grooming appointment for 5 days for my 1 year old AussieDoodle. They called me 4pm the day before and asked if I could switch my appointment time to an earlier time, BUT if not it's totally okay and the later appointment will still be there. I assumed that they had someone cancel and just trying to leave for an early day. As I didn't have time to call back I assumed my appointment was still in effect since the voicemail said it was. I get to my appointment time that I've had for days, and the groomer said that they cannot serve me because my dog is too "large" and "long haired" and he would need more time. My dogs information is in the system as we just got her hair done there 3 months prior. This was absolutely terrible service by Jerry the groomer, and unprofessional to say the least. I came here for cat food. The cat food selection earned 5 stars. The fish selection and treatment deducted 4. What is that smell? Dead rotten fish. I spied an illegal zebra loach in their stock (endangered species) and contemplated liberating it...for about 30 min while 6 associates seemingly vanished in a store of 2 customers. Perhaps they were clubbing baby fur seals in the back? We will never know. Shop at Fish Mania or Bermuda Triangle if you are after fish. Cat food can be had anywhere. Trish is simply amazing. From the meet and greet to her clear expertise, she is just that good. She assessed my little one in minutes and further took the time to really focus on his individual needs. Post groom I was again given really helpful suggestions, and quite frankly was in awe of her knowledge of him after just one groom. I have found it challenging in the area to find a groomer who gives not only peace of mind, but trust as well. Generally I have been happy with this Petco, however more recently they can't seem to keep crickets in stock which is hugely problematic if you have animals that rely on daily feedings. They get their shipments of crickets on Tuesday and Friday so I came today knowing they just received a shipment and asked for 70 small crickets. I was told they had to cap me at 50 otherwise they wouldn't be able to feed their own animals. This seems ridiculous to me on the day they just received more crickets. They need to figure out how to place orders correctly. I suppose I will be transferring my business to the Petco in Hixson even though that is way out of my way. read more

We have a bernedoodle, which means long, thick, curly hair. Carlie is EXCELLENT at cutting his hair! Never a bad haircut, always done right! She asks exactly how you want it and then does it. She's always friendly and wonderful to our dogs. Highly recommend her!! read more

I was so impressed with our grooming experience. Victoria was amazing with my dog. He's a shelter dog with lots of energy that hates to have his feet touched. I've been called by other places to pick him up because they couldn't finish his cut. Victoria was patient, and my sweet boy looks better than he ever has. I love petco. But this location has never risen up to any expectations I have. The petco in Hixson has much friendlier staff. Every time I have been here I have been approached by a rude staff member. I will continue to shop at petsmart or the petco Hixson location. Today for instance, I was looking at the fish because I was considering getting a new one for my tank. I was then shouted at to not touch the glass, which I was not, because I was exposing myself. What am I exposing myself to? Are you inferring that you have COVID-19? I understand the new policies from the company, but there are much friendlier ways to go about than shouting at a young lady to not touch the glass. I'm not ignorant. I've given this location multiple opportunities only to be let down time and time again. Maybe hire some younger staff, because the older individuals you have working are sour and have no empathy whatsoever. read more

Beware!!! Bought a Guinea Pig and noticed that it had something around his eye said something to the salesperson and they said it was normal because all them had it. Found out 3 days later after it got worst that it was not normal and went back to Petco and all I was offered was a refund for the Pig. Horrible service and Horrible attitude. This company does not take care of there animals and have no problems with selling sick animals. By the way the Pig had ringworm just like all the other ones.
