Lora Jernigan cannot set a standard on services and pricing. Emily and Kathleen want to argue with me every single time I go in, even after it's all been agreed upon with the owner. **UPDATE after owner's reply** Emily's response actually highlights the problem. My complaint was never that I could not understand the difference between a tidy and a full haircut. It was that the parameters kept changing from visit to visit, even though I was bringing my dog in on the same schedule and trying to maintain the same service. At today's visit, I explicitly said to just do what was in the notes from last time. Instead, I was again told it would be treated differently and priced differently. That repeated inconsistency is the issue. Yes, I cursed to myself while walking out. That frustration came after multiple visits where the same service discussion seemed to get reinterpreted all over again. Their reply only reinforces my original point that this place is inconsistent and exhausting to deal with. When I came back in to discuss it with Lora, SHE yelled AT ME, with no discussion on the issue, not the other way around. Original review: BEWARE!! SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND GO ELSEWHERE! I should have listened to the bad reviews. Chattagroomer has been, by far, the worst grooming experience I have ever had, and I have used groomers in five different states. To be fair, Kathleen does a good job grooming my dog, but unfortunately, that's the only positive. The recurring problem was pricing and service inconsistency. At my first appointment, I specifically asked whether bringing my dog in every 4 to 6 weeks would qualify him for a tidy, and I was told yes, at about $104 with only minor fluctuation. Then at later visits, including just 4 weeks later, I was told it would suddenly be a full groom at around $144 instead. Lora later called me and we agreed, again, that the service I'm getting was a 'Tidy' at ~$104. I also called at one point to ask about only a bath and brush with medicated shampoo because my dog was dealing with seasonal skin allergies. I was told that would still be the tidy price, and that they would not "give a discount for services," even though I was asking for less service. I told her that's fine, I'll get him bathed elsewhere. The final visit was the last straw. I came in again on the same schedule(4 weeks), again asking for the same tidy, and again was told it would be the full haircut price. I said this keeps happening, and to just do what was in the notes from last time and that I would pay what I needed to pay. Instead of resolving a recurring issue they had created multiple times, I was told that if it was that much of an issue they would rather I just leave. I walked out angry and did curse to myself. I should not have done that. But that frustration came after repeated pricing disputes and repeated inconsistency that this business never seemed able to fix. A business can misunderstandings. Chattagroomer turned it into a pattern. A good groom is not enough to make up for constant confusion, aggravation, and having to re argue the same price and service over and over. You can be reassured your dog will be treated with love and respect. They are "fear free" certified- which is something I did not know was important until I started using Chattagroomer. I went in for a cut today and when expressing my dislike for the way my dogs hair was cut and asking for a refund I was told to go find a different groomer. My dog looked good. I know people have been raising prices but for dog grooming?? Actually the pricing for a 20# dog is $102..for a full groom ....this is a bit too steep. It's not for shampoo/conditioner....I bring my own. California pricing in TN?? Actually after reviewing Ca. pet grooming pricing...Chattagroomer is more expensive. We've taken our pup here several times and generally had good experiences. Our last experience not so much. Our pup was dropped off and we were not given a specific time when he would be done. I received a text that he was ready and unfortunately the wife and I were tied up in work. As soon as we could (well before their closing time), our pup was picked up. Lora, who I later found out to be co owner was unprofessional and openly chastised me for not being there within a half hour to pick him up (I live 20 minutes away, so by her account I should have dropped everything immediately). I have been a big fan of Chattagroomer for a number of years. My first encounter was with my bichon, Chloe, who was living with my daughter for months so that I could continue working as a flight attendant. She was extremely matted, because my daughter said that she did not want to be brushed. Chloe was a "hot mess", and I was not sure that she would cooperate with the grooming process because she was getting up in age. Lora and her mother were more than accommodating. They exceeded my expectations, and both of them were so kind and receptive to Chloe. I could not have been happier. Unfortunately, Chloe did not live much longer, but I was so appreciative of the kindness and the care with which they bestowed on my beloved pet while she was alive. I did not have another dog until recently. I tried many times, when my dog first arrived to get an appointment at Chattagroomer, but at the time, they were not accepting new business. Hoping that it was a temporary situation, I continued to call. I was very happy when Chattagroomer was again accepting new pets. I had difficulties finding the new location, and I was quite late when I arrived at my appointment. Lora was so sweet and understanding. It was embarrassing because I missed seeing the building after many drive-bys. Lora and her staff make every attempt to accommodate the pet owners. I always listen to their suggestions because they know exactly what they are doing. I feel very blessed to have my pet havanese cared for by Chattagroomer. Even though my little female is quite hyper, Lora and her staff always make sure that she has her bows in place before I come to pick her up. This was a really decent pet grooming facility a few years ago. ( when the owner and daughter were trying to build the business ) All was well until the owner Lora and her daughter Emily decided to pawn off all of the work to their employees. Ones who lack their same years of experience ..Our dog never had any issues with having his nails done UNTIL they decided to hand him off to a new groomer. Now he has such fright having his nails done. We will not be going back to the establishment ever again!!! Not to mention, they entirely skipped his nails and dew claws countless times. Never mentioning this to me. I asked if they would be willing to lower the full grooming fee since they can't seem to do his nails.l, and I will need to take him elsewhere for his nails. At which time Emily told me I should get another groomer. Not professional at all. This business is not any better than a big box chain at this point. This business seems to be a little too successful and one of the owner's is very rude. There was a mix up in my appointment time and it was my fault. To be truthful, though, the appointment setter first told me one time; few minutes later she switched the time. I have switched my time at the last minute for them before but they cannot accommodate my schedule once. At least they could have been nicer about it. I will not return. I remember graciously rescheduling my appointment at the business's request on the day of the appointment. I wish I could have had the same thoughtfulness shown to me. read more

The first time we took our poodle mix he had some more severe matting and had to be shaved, for his bath and full groom it was $91. We took him again today for just a bath and tidy trim of his face, bum, etc, because his coat was still short from being shaved last time. We were advised that he had some tangles starting which required some extra brushing, and the total came to $98. On the invoice he was listed at 50-60 pounds, which I brought to their attention because he is only 42 pounds and was billed that way last time. She refused to adjust the invoice and said it was because of his coat type but that doesn't explain why he was billed at the wrong weight. It doesn't make sense to be charged more this time for a 3 hr bath & tidy with some extra brushing ($98) than I was for a full groom and shave with severe matting which took 5+ hours ($91). Either way, (without the charge for the extra brushing) just a bath and tidy was $80 which is extreme in my opinion, especially for a 42 pound dog. I think the cuts are so cute, but judging from my experience today and the price, I would recommend to keep shopping around for a different groomer, unless the price isn't a factor for you. read more

Excellent groomers! We take our Havanese and Maltipoo in for cuts and baths. They are much calmer with these groomers than they have ever been before when we pick them up. We have a little senior Maltese shih tzu - he needs to be groomed every few months- he HATES a local pet chain groomer we have gone to for over a year (no names) but the good groomers there didn't stay long!! (??) - I googled Chattanooga groomers and found Loras place - love it!! It's like dropping your fuzzy baby at a daycare for a few hours!! I had used the same groomer for the first 7 years of my dogs life. She retired and after trying many around town found Emily at Chattagroomer. She is so sweet and keeps a record of how she cuts them. The first time was almost perfect so the second time she asked if I wanted anything different. I told her the small tweaks I wanted and she did it perfectly. The tweaks were just my personal preferences not anything wrong the first time. She has been beautiful every time. They are top notch in every aspect. I had an appointment scheduled with Chattagroomers roughly six months ago. I have a small, nervous papillon mix that we took in for grooming. Upon arrival, we stood in the lobby waiting for someone to help us for a few minutes. When someone finally came to get our dog and take him back to the bathing station, we advised that our dog is very anxious and ask them to call with any problems. About 2 hours after dropping our dog off we received a call telling us that our dog was heavily infested with fleas. Immediately, that same day I took my dog to our vet at red Bank animal hospital. I had the vet to do a comprehensive check for fleas And the vet didn't find any evidence of fleas. The grooming service required us to pay $40 for a dog to get a bath after waiting for two hours and then lied to us and did not provide the requested grooming services. When we went back to the groomer to pick up our dog, the workers were incredibly disrespectful and rude. Will never be back. read more
