We usually bring our (not so little) baby here to get his food and a nail grinding. When we walk into the grooming area - making sure there were no other dogs inside - we were greeted by some of the groomers. At first we were communicating by talking across the room, seems a little unprofessional. Once we told them what we wanted they told me that another groomer is coming in at 4 and she will be the one handling the grinding (it was like 3 minutes from 4 o'clock), so we took Rocky out and went to look at some food. We had him on Blue Wilderness (Salmon) but the vet told us to maybe switch it up to another brand that is limited ingredients since he does have allergies. We were looking through the store and only found a handful of brands that I would actually feed my dog. We decided not to purchase our food here because 1. The vet suggested Taste of the Wild (which they did not have), and 2. We felt the food they provided was not up to par with someone we would want to give him. By this time, it was already after 4. About 4:10. So we walk back to the grooming area, and there she is (about to call us). Anyways, we leave him there and I took the receipt - which I had to ask for so I could pay - to the register. There was only one register open (out of the three they have) and I was the third in line, which is not a huge wait for me. But it was a holiday week, and fairly busy... Anyways, after a few minutes another register opens up but two people hop in that line. After what seemed like forever - my line started to move - YAY! But the person in front of us, had quite a few items to purchase and the cashier was complaining about how slow the computer was... We decided to move to another register (which had two other people), but actually went quicker than the first one we were in. I check in on YELP and received a $5 coupon for the salon, so I show them and it felt as if they have never seen this coupon before. The gentleman working did not know how to put the coupon in, so he grabbed another employee and she was a little confused so they got a manager. I would think that if they have a coupon out, they would make sure their employees know how to ring them in correctly - or at least know about the coupon. Anyways, I saw Rocky getting lowered so I told my fiance to grab him while I finish and pay. This whole time, the first register STILL had the same guy... I would think being a couple days before a holiday they would be well prepared and staffed accordingly. We ended up going to another pet store to buy his food, which is a little more expensive but healthier and better ingredients. I think next time we will go to another pet groomer and see if they are better. P.S. I have been here several times, and this is the worst visit. They are usually quicker and less of a hassle. read more

Grooming is misleading! Witnessed a groomer yanking the tail of a puppy to get it to stand up! No wonder the pups freak out. I took my pup and left, cancelled my appt. I spent close to $200 on new puppy stuff no one offered me the coupon book for new dog owners which could have saved me money. read more

I'm glad I read some of these reviews. I took my dog to this location last month for a full bath and a full cut. When I talked with the groomer, she said it would be about three hours before my dog would be ready, which is the normal time frame. One hour and 10 minutes later I received a phone call saying my dog was ready. I couldn't believe it. There is no way my dog was given a full bath, full cut in this short period of time. I called another PetSmart location and asked them about this fast turn around and the groomer say no way, that it takes at least three hours. When I got there, I asked to speak to the manager before I picked up my dog. The manager talked with the groomer and then came back to me and said that my dog was pushed through, that my dog didn't get the fan blow drying method, which cut back on time. There was another customer in front of me, same race, who said her dog was ready in one hour as well. I'm sure this was a stressful experience for my dog to be rushed through the process. A proper bath and full cut can't be successfully done in one hour and 10 minutes. We won't be going back there either. read more

If you're shopping for your furry friends, you'll do pretty well here at PetSmart. Well organized and very clean, they have everything for the usual dogs and cats but there are also sections for birds, small animals and fish. Prices are clearly marked. Lots and lots and lots of stuff here. I'm not sure I would use their grooming or veterinary services after reading the other reviews, but purely for purchasing merchandise, they are fine. read more

They have tons of cute pets here. I know you can easily find an animal to suit your companionship needs. The staff are extremely helpful and very knowledgable about the products and will order anything you need of it isn't in stock. The parking is plenty and of course your own pets are allowed to shop with you. I have neve seen any pets get into quarrels here, which makes me wonder why places like Home Depot started banning pets on the property. People who shop with their pets def spend more, because they are happier. That's my opinion. On occasions, you will see obedience classes for dogs in the main area near the front of the store. It is very cute. The groomers are great, but they aren't too happy when asked to shave a 12 pound Maine Coon cat. Oh well, I will stick with my vet to de-poof the kitty! Happy shopping! read more

I've never had a bad experience with a Petsmart grooming salon, however, this is the first time I have, and I can say I will never take my dog to this salon AGAIN. They not only did a terrible job with the instructions I gave them on the haircut, after thoroughly explaining and even showing a picture. But they also cut his paw and they had to take him to the banfield for profuse bleeding, we had to spend approximately 3 hours waiting for his paw just to stop bleeding. Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with this service. If you love your pets, don't take them there. Worse grooming service my dog has ever received. read more

When I say pissed. I am sooooo pissed. 8 hours later (I was imagining 2 hours or so) My pup is ready to be picked up. Nothing and I mean NOTHING was clearly explained to me about the procedure(s),times, rules etc..... The entire reason I brought my pup here was for a trim, well luckily they called and "suggested" I get a trim with my package. I responded quickly and told them that's the only reason I'm in. Welp, they barely did anything noticable. 80 dollars later and you can barely tell he was bathed, trimmed ANYTHING!!!!!! They added the fact that he is old (he is around 10 years old) and would lay down flat as excuses to not do a complete job . Will NEVER go back to these so called "doggie groomers". We had our Newfoundland groomed here today. We were told they would leave the length long and comb through her hair. We went to pick her up and she was shaved bare. Not only did they not call to let us know this was the next step they ensured us this wouldn't be the case when we dropped her off. I will never return here again and will tell everyone I know to go elsewhere. This is ridiculous and horrible customer service. I saw that this location has a lot of not so great reviews, however, I had a great experience with them. I dropped my puppy off at the Pets Hotel on Friday night and picked him up on Monday morning. He was just as I had left him, no scars, missing teeth or trauma that I could see. I called everyday and they updated me on his day and when he was constipated, they suggested pumpkin purée. This was my first time boarding him but if I need to do it again, they will definitely be my go to. Been going here for years , always been amazing , till last Saturday , very poor cut and groom for $71 , plus cut my little girl above the right eye and sent me to their vet in-house , they said they didn't do it and referred me to go to my vet , another $100 , so very disappointed !!!! What do you do when you're dog goes on food strike because he absolutely hates his food? You go to Petsmart and find the one employee in there who literally knows everything about the 8 million brands of dog food spread across four daunting aisles. I was lucky enough to find that one person, who was beyond willing to help me. She spent quite a bit of time understanding what my dog needs, and explaining the differences between the different types of food (and how everything was sorted...apparently there's regular food, science food, holistic food). I'm happy to report that my dog is somewhat off food strike because I found a healthy food that he moderately likes. The staff isn't going to seek you out, so go find someone in the store and they will be more than willing to help you. read more

I've been taking my dog to get groomed here since moving to Charlotte about 3 years ago. Now, while I don't believe each dog groomer is created equal, I will say that Denise D. does an excellent job with my dog, and I've only ever seen her treat the animals nicely! I can't really speak on anyone else... my dog has been to a few additional groomers but none of them do as good a job or are as personable as Denise! She always greets us with a smile, already knows it's my dog and says hi to her by name when we walk in, and also has her paperwork out and ready to go to confirm any details. So overall, I would say that if you need to get your pet groomed, Denise is an excellent groomer and would definitely recommend! read more

So I went online and ordered from what I thought was another location in town to be delivered by door dash. After two days of no good showing up, I called the store to find out that her food is actually being shipped from a central location and takes 3-5 business days to get. Pet Boarding I didn't want to leave a message on here but then decided to share my experience anyway. Well should I say my puppy and I experience. I am going to get straight to it... when I picked up my puppy I cried so hard after witnessing some inappropriate behavior. I notice the girl dragging my dog with the leash and my dog was just sliding across the floor. How did I see it? I was looking through a window because they were taking long to bring my dog out to me. I started saying through the window PICK MY PUPPY UP and STOP DRAGGING MY DOG. Just the thought of it now gets me emotional. I was so hurt when I saw that happening!! The next issue was when they handed me my dog bag and bed that I dropped off with my dog, I noticed there was poop on the bottom of his bed. I asked them why is there poop on the bottom of my dog bed. I was told my puppy was scared so he pooped and put it under the bed. WHAT?! THAT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME! WHY WOULD HE BE SCARED? If you take my puppy to the bathroom my puppy will go and will not just go on his bed. He loves his bed that's why I dropped it off with him. The staff was rude and unbothered by the situation. I asked to speak with the manager. He tried to defuse the situation but frankly the damage was done and I will NEVER take my puppy there! I don't trust his staff but I do appreciate the manager for trying to make the situation better. The damage was already done and I felt like I let my dog down!! I honestly felt like (in my opinion) people were only there for a check and not there for the love of animals. I did not trust anyone else with my dog for a long time. I've gone here twice so far. Both times I had an okay experience. Today being the worst. Workers seem to always be in a bad mood and are somewhat inpatient/rude (except the cashiers that were working today, they were very nice). Today I called PetSmart and asked to make a cat nail trim appointment and I was told by one of the grooming associates that they don't make appointments. It's walk in only. So, I walked in..... at which point all the groomers told me that they don't do cat grooming on the weekends. You'd think the person I talked to on the phone would have informed me of that. So, already annoyed I tried to get sympathy from the groomers by explaining my cat has a lot of anxiety and could they make an exception as it was very difficult to get him there. Nope. They couldn't. To me, that does not sound pet smart nor does it sound pet centered/friendly. However, because of this terrible experience I did find a grooming salon that was much more pet friendly and half the price. So this was a blessing and a curse. Anyone else that has this experience try Grateful Pets (about three minutes away). read more

I just recently bought a dog, and I bring him to this Petsmart for grooming, training, and supplies. The training is really affordable and effective. Willie (the trainer) is great. He is a results oriented trainer, and guarantees his work. You pay for the puppy training, but if you feel the puppy has not made progress, Willie will continue to train him until you get the desired results. The grooming people here are extremely nice and do a good job for an affordable price. Overall, this is a very clean and affordable place, with extremely helpful and nice people. I love going to this Petsmart and would definitely recommend their services. read more

SAY NO TO THE GROOMING SALON! I have a 14 year old Australian Shepherd, Barbi. I shop at this location for everything for her, I have boarded her at this location and she has been groomed at this location. Today was her second grooming and I asked that they shave her from the summer. I reminded the groomer that checked her in that she had arthritis. She said, "yes, we have that in our records." Three hours later I received a call that my dog could not stand up. They had "partially" groomed her and I should come and get her. I went to pick her up and I was horrified by her condition. She had to be carried out from the back and could not stand at all! She had clumps of shaven fur still hanging on her body...they had not even bothered to try and make her presentable! They didn't take accountability for her condition and did not have an ounce of empathy for her or me. I was in tears! The "Salon Manager" said they would not charge me for the amount of grooming they had done. She did say "I'm sorry" as I carried my 45 pound dog from the salon. As I entered the parking lot a gentleman offered to help me to the car. I received more empathy from him than from anyone in the salon. I called the store and complained about the salon staff to the store manager, who was nice. However, I will NEVER shop with this location again AND probably will no longer patronize PetSmart at all. read more

Just saw a scene that broke my heart. A small chihuahua-type dog was cringing in the corner of a large play area, trembling and scared to death of the other dogs. The attendant ~ I wouldn't describe him as a caregiver ~ didn't even notice the poor little dog. A group of other shoppers saw the scene, and we approached an employee and requested that the frightened little dog be removed from the play area. Before she handled our request, a group of a half-dozen big dogs was brought into the play area, further frightening the poor animal. Finally, an employee retrieved the dog from the play area. If your dog isn't comfortable and confident among a large group of bigger dogs, you won't want to board your baby at this PetSmart ~ and especially not in the care of the attendant who we witnessed overlooking an animal in very obvious distress. This location has a lot of features & I love the convenience. Good: No, great! The Banfield at this location is awesome. They know my pup by name and are always willing to help in any way possible. He's had a couple health issues & they've minimized our cost while making sure he's cared for. Ehhh: Boarding. I'm 50/50 on this. My dog apparently escaped (inside the store) overnight but they found him. I made sure to warn them he opens doors but they just laughed. He also didn't eat hardly any while there, but maybe was just nervous. Idk. Bad: Grooming salon. Been twice, first time he came back dirty on stomach, ears and with extremely uneven nails. Second, they trimmed his tail when asked not to, and again he was dirty. Not going for a 3rd attempt. read more

Ok, I know this is a chain store, but I had to review this place. They are AWESOME at this location. Even if we move a little farther away in the future, I'd totally make the drive to frequent this location. The staff here offers the highest level of customer service that I've ever seen in a Petsmart. It's crazy... it's like they went through ninja hospitality courses or something with the level of service I'm getting!! My pup has some skin issues and one of the employees spent at least 30 mins with us to get him the best shampoo and food for his conditions. We have had nothing but great experiences here and I will shout to the hills, or tall buildings, since I'm near uptown, but you get the idea. If you're near there, GO!!! RIGHT NOW!!! read more

They are awesome! My four legged fur-child hate the vet (sorry guys- but he does). The staff is very friendly and helpful. They are kind and compassionate to my pet. And explain things in detail to me. It is easy to get an appointment and prices are reasonable. This is my favorite store by far. The puppy play dates are perfect and the staff is so accommodating. I trust them completely with my 13 week old golden! I also really enjoy the dog training here- Mandy is a great trainer and the group training provides a very informative setting for both pet and pet owners! I normally shop local but this PetSmart has the nicest staff and they really do care. I recommend it to any new pet owners like myself! read more

Great selection of food for my little ones in a highly convenient location. I get a combo of Wellness Core & Simply Nourish and it seems like they have every flavor of dry and wet available. Plus a large selection of vitamins & grass options - big fan of Greenies & GNC. It's fun to stop by the adoption area too - and thankfully, seems like they have a pretty high turnover - props to the HSLC. Staff is very friendly, there's always someone walking around to check on customers. They always seem to have a training class going on when I stop by, the instructor is very energetic & positive. 4 stars instead of 5 because of the grooming - they are right by the registers, and I've seen a few employees be rather rough with the pups. read more

Not enough oversight at the doggy day camp. Yesterday our dog's ear was punctured clean through by another dog. That is not normal dog play. Glad that the assistant manager Jessica watched the whole video and called me to discuss, but even she said there were several other instances where the staff member in the room should have intervened sooner and interrupted when the play got too rough. Now our dog is in a cone (which she hates) with her ear shaved and wrapped in a bandage and on medications. We left her at a different company's doggy day camp previously for almost a week with no issues (that one does an assessment for a few hours prior to the actual dog day camp to make sure any dogs they are allowing don't have aggressive behaviors...PetSmart didn't do that and only asks a yes/no question if the dog is aggressive). We won't be back and sadly not sure if we will ever feel comfortable to take her to a dog day camp again. read more
