Extremely Disappointed with Training & Board Services! My wife and I decided to use this facility for board and train because we love their Lake Norman doggy daycare location, it's fantastic. Unfortunately, our experience at this location was completely unacceptable. We spent nearly $2,000 for more than two weeks of training, and when we got our dog back, nothing we wanted accomplished had been done. In fact, our dog came home worse than when we left him. Our dog is very smart and food-motivated, easily trainable, so there should have been no issues at all with progress. We live up in Lake Norman, and the follow-up 15 min meeting is 1 hour away from us during the week with traffic, (trainer can only meet onsite mon-fri) Which my wife and I work so this is a huge inconvenience. When we asked if the trainer could meet at a different location or even come to our house, we were told it would cost $170. When we finally spoke to the manager, she said there was nothing she could do because, in her words, "they provided the services." This is a terrible customer experience, especially considering we are loyal customers who use their other locations. Bottom line: Do not pay for board or training at this location. We are beyond frustrated and feel completely ripped off. read more

Our now 3 yo doodle absolutely loves Social Pet! We started at Social Pet after a few mysterious injuries at another doggie day care. Now it has been 2 years since going to Social Pet and we love it. Our pup gets so excited in the car when he realizes that is where he is headed. You can tell he had a great day when he gets home exhausted. We also look forward to the "report card" which includes candid photos, how he did, and fur friends he was with. The staff are outstanding-well trained, knowledgeable and extremely professional. My dog Kyla is a regular at Social Pet Hotel and I can't express enough how happy I am with their operations. The facility is outstanding, it is clean and spacious and they have a ton of different options for the dogs to enjoy. My dog is a regular at Social Pet-Pineville. He absolutely loves it, and they are so sweet to him. My pup has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and so it's been a very challenging time as he adjusts to new medications. They have bent over backwards to accommodate him and to take good care of him. I highly recommend Social Pet for not only daycare but also training. Their staff is regularly obtaining a variety of advanced certifications centered around dog quality of life and safety to be sure you are getting the absolute best care. Please think twice before spending money at this daycare. Brought my dog here for the second time (first was an assessment) and had the worst experience. My boyfriend & I were watching the cameras all day long and only saw our dog out two times for a total of 30 minutes. He was at the daycare for 9+ hours and only had 30 minutes of playtime. I was told during assessment day it was 30 minutes of play | 30 minutes of rest, then I called after noticing my dog hadn't been out and they said it is "15 minutes of play | 30 minutes of rest but could be longer depending how many dogs we have in the rotation that is why you haven't seen your dog in awhile." After that phone call I was beyond furious - everyone I talk to from this establishment says something different! We specifically picked the enrichment daycare because (1) Social Pet recommended it (2) thought he would get more playtime (3) more one on one time. In reality I just spent $42 dollars for my dog to be out of a crate for ONLY 30 minutes and it was barely any playtime. The people there just stood there with no enthusiasm and no passion for dogs. I am beyond frustrated at this establishment and disappointed that we put our trust in you. My dog had her first day of daycare today. The facility was very clean. The staff there was very understanding that I just rescued her a week ago. They took things slow when it came to introducing her to new people and dogs, but she warmed up right away! They took the time to find the dogs that she would play well with and match the right personalities together. I got to watch her play on the cameras and when she was up for her "nap times" she did well too! (I like the nap times so that way my dog isn't over worked). At the end of the day I got a digital report card about how she did, with amazing pictures and the friends she made that day!! I opted to try out Social Pet (Pineville) after an extremely bad experience at Pet Paradise Ballantyne. I called to ask some questions and ease my state of mind about trying a new daycare after such a bad experience at PP. I cannot remember the name of the Customer Service Rep who called me, but she was wonderful. I may have asked silly questions and whatnot but she was super patient and understanding of my hesitation. My 10 month old Dalmatian Murphy started last week & we are both so happy so far! A few suggestions- If possible, I'd love to see the cameras updated or repositioned- I love being able to watch my boy play, but the cameras are pretty fuzzy and positioned in ways that you can't see everything. Also, I'd love to see on the report card for Enrichment what kind of enrichment activities were done & maybe things I can work on with him on days he is not at daycare. Other than that, I'm very impressed with Social Pet so far! read more

Update: Now that I am home and a little calmer, I wanted to make sure I am clear. Stacey, the groomer, is an absolute gem. I would give her a 5 star review on her own. After I left Social Pet, I found Stacey's number in an old text and sent her a message to let her know what had happened. She was apologetic and genuine in her response to me. Brian, the manager, also texted me to let me know that he had been on a conference call and was sorry he was unable to come out and speak with me. The woman who had come out to speak with me earlier, when I asked for the manager, told me that he was dealing with a disabled dog. I don't know if she said that to try and gain sympathy from me or as a manipulation. Doesn't matter, she lied to me. Stacey and Brian offered to groom my old dog without charge if I wanted to bring him back. I texted Stacey and said I would not deal with the girl at the front desk (there were two, only one was uncaring, the other girl seemed to be more empathetic, but defensive none the less). Stacey came out and got my dog, groomed him in a really short time, while I waited in my car, and did not charge me. I don't care about the cost of the grooming. I would not have taken him back over except that he knows Stacey and she is genuine in her love of animals. I wanted him to be as comfortable as possible during his last groom. Here are some helpful tips to the management of Social Pet: 1) Don't have people working the desk who cannot have genuine compassion for customers dealing with end/late life issues with their animals. These are not just dogs, they are members of our families, they are our fur babies. If your employee has never had to make the difficult decision to let go of a family member, train them to understand that it is the only thing that matters to the person standing in front of them and if they don't get it, don't let them interact with your customers. 2) . Make sure that they know it is appropriate to stop what they are doing and give their undivided attention to the person in front of them. 3) Make sure they know that their defensiveness, when someone is breaking in front of them, will only escalate the situation. 4) Train them to listen, make eye contact and give a genuine apology for their mistake (even if they don't think they made one, now isn't the time to prove they're right). 5) Make sure that you give them the training to know when it is appropriate to step around the counter and acknowledge the animal as well. This would have been a customer experience that could have overcome mistakes (which everyone makes). ________________________________________________________________ Earlier this morning: I am shaking as I write this because the service that used to be top notch has eroded. I made an appointment for grooming for one of my dogs (16 year old, blind bichon, likely his last grooming) and grooming/daycare for my baby (3 yr old mix). When I made the appointment, I asked for Stacey, the groomer, to call me to discuss when I could bring in my old dog. I planned to wait because he had a seizure the last time he was groomed (not by Stacey). She didn't call and never got the message. I got there this morning and they said my dogs vaccines were up. I gave them the vet info (that has never changed and is in their records). She came back and said they were not current. I called the vet (for my older dog) and asked why they said they were expired. The girl at Social Pet had asked for the records for the wrong dog. I went back into Social Pet and asked for a manager. When I told the young lady at the desk that she was wrong. She told me she was human and made mistakes. She showed such a lack of empathy that I was shaking mad. The manager never appeared. The groomer never came out when I asked for her. Someone at a higher level than the front desk workers came out to try and smooth things over. But every time she said she understood, I got a little angrier. Every time I put my dog in the car, it is stressful. Every time he gets groomed, it is a risk. To not find out that they don't have good records until the moment I walk in is unacceptable. The girl at the front desk said she sent me an email at 7 am this morning. How is that helpful? I didn't see it as I was trying to get the dogs fed and hustled out the door. If they had told me when I made the appointment two day ago or even yesterday, I could have gotten the records to them and gotten the shots that were expired for my younger dog. Now I have 2 stressed, uncomfortable, dirty dogs. I've been here for 40 minutes and the manager has still not bothered to come out and talk to me. The prices here are higher than other daycare/boarding...$32 a day for daycare and close to $50 for boarding Now on to the positives, there are a lot: 1. They send you a picture each day your dog is there! How cute, no other daycare we have been to does that, and we have been to A LOT. Along with the picture, they also give you a brief update 2. Webcams are available, ask them the username and password. Though the webcams are very blurry you can hardly see what's going on 3. The play areas are big and they are equipped with play structure 4. They have just the right number of dogs there for your pooch to get enough exercise. Around 20 per play group, no more than 20 are allowed for safety. 5. Their number that you call someone always picks up and they are very attentive. Same as their email, they respond quickly. 6. My wife had talked this place up to me, came highly recommended from vet, and looks great. And, if you have an older dog who is docile, this might be a great place for you still -- but I had a puppy, and my wife had specifically asked them if that would mean any difference - "Why yes, she will be grouped with similar dogs and learn enrichment skills." Unfortunately, their definition of enrichment seems to be "Learn how other dogs also howl when crated and left in a room for hours on end" After my wife texted me to let me know the dog was in their care, I called up their camera view from their homepage, skipped over to camera view number nine, put it on my second monitor and started jotting down little notes, because, it seemed like she was in the "back room" for a long time -- 9:50am In cage in back, 2 other dogs back there 10:30am In cage in back, 8 other dogs 10:45am Let out to play, switch over to camera 2, watch her have fun 11:15am Back in the cage 11:30am Lights out - everyone "sleeping" 12:00pm Still lights out 1:00pm Still lights out 2:00pm Lights on, some dogs let out (staff is taking them two at a time with leashes) 2:07pm More dogs let out - my dog still in crate 2:14pm More dogs let out - still crated 2:22pm They let her out, maybe it wasn't a waste money and I've been reading too much into a morning that featured 30 minutes of play and 3 hours of confinement! woo hoo! 2:30pm Just kidding, they put her back in the crate, so at this point, she hasn't left this room since before their official "closing time", and since the real actual lights out closing at 11:30. They start cleaning the back room she is crated in, with just my puppy sitting in there, howling. 2:37pm Staff skips over her crate while continuing to clean the back room, with puppy sitting in cage howling At this point, as she had only had non-cage interactions for about 30 minutes, I decided it would be as cost effective to provide her the same experience she was getting at the daycare, by picking her up, crating her at home and turning up the TV really loud and ignoring her howling, so I went to get her. Arriving to pick her up, The staff informed me she had no blanket or any other items, which i thought was strange, as she did, packed carefully by my wife -- and then i did realize - the whole time i was watching her on camera, she didn't have the toys my wife lovingly packed or her blanket in her crate, just a generic blue/green towel they all get ( if you packed toys & blankets for your puppers today, check out the pictures to see if they had them as well) So while, I don't want to say they are deliberately misrepresenting the level of care/attention your dog gets, in my case, it was extremely underwhelming, and at odds with the image they tried to project. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. We absolutely love SPH's Pineville location! Our dog goes to daycare every day, so it's important for us to send him to a place that we can trust. The enrichment trainers, as well as the whole staff, are so welcoming and attentive, and they love our dog as if he were their own! They have several play areas and the dogs are divided up based on size, socializing levels and needs. They even have cameras set up so you can take a peek in, as well as "report cards" that get texted/emailed to you with photos and notes during their stay. It's honestly so amazing! Daycare, grooming and even overnight boarding - you name it, I've done it. Easy as can be! Our dog gets super excited when we mention daycare so I'm confident your pup will too! read more

Not a lot of play time which was our purpose, took pup in at 9 to avoid traffic and picked up at 3 or 4, crated from 11-2 and sometime after 3 so did not play approx. 50% of time. 2. 2nd visit the pup got sick for several days. 3. Always came home very dirty although place seems clean. 4. Even though cool(50 degrees and sunny) they never played outside. 5. Not a lot of interaction or toys in play rooms by staff. 6. Since dogs were not taken out they resorted to peeing (#2?) on the floor which is not a good habit for puppies or adult dogs. read more

The absolute best for day care. They are clean and professional and love the dogs so much. I took my dog Lani here (Pineville location) for a few years until we moved across the country. Sometimes Lani went regularly, but sometimes 4-6 months would pass between visits. It amazed me that even if it had been months since Lani had last been at Social Pet, the staff always 100% remembered her! We would walk in early in the morning and be greeted with such a warm, enthusiastic "Hey Lani!!!!" every time. Also, Lani is a rescue dog who can be anxious sometimes. She randomly started seeming anxious about going to daycare, and the staff was amazing at working with her. They put her in the smaller group enrichment setting without charing me the extra money for it, and they paid extra attention to whether anything was happening that was scaring her. Turns out it was just Lani's own anxiety acting up, and after a few of the small-group sessions, she was 100% good to go and back having a great time in the regular setting. We moved across the country summer 2018, and we have not been able to find a daycare anywhere near as great as Social Pet ever since. If you have the opportunity to take your dog here and work with these wonderful people, take it!!! read more

Reconsider using this play for daycare. The biggest scam I've ever encountered. WATCH THE WEBCAMS! Watch to see how long your dog is actually playing. This place (as I thought) stood out from other places and charge DOUBLE than most places because of the promise of agility, puzzles and games and special one on one time- a stress free environment (as they told me. ) The first problem was finding out after a day of my golden retriever puppy attending - (found out through friends) you have to specifically request these "enrichment" features (even though you're already paying for it.) Secondly, after asking again about my dog participating in these features - they told me "oh, well, leo just wasn't interested so we haven't been having him participate because hed rather play" Which is literally why I was paying extra for him to go here... The WORST part is that I started to watch the cameras on the webcam open at my desk all day- NOBODY is outside playing? So if my dog likes to play so much and you're catering towards his personal needs... why isn't he playing? I was told that there just wasn't enough staff trained to have all the dogs playing in different times because they go out in little groups at a time. You will notice that there are always empty play rooms even if the dogs are outside playing in their time slots. All day... maybe once in the morning for a half hour I saw my dog play and once in the afternoon for a half hour. I asked about this, and they gave me multiple excuses. the only other room he could have been in is the kennels... When I confronted them about this , Then I was told in the heat they don't usually leave dogs out to play (if you told me it was too hot for him to play all day and waste my money , I would have kept him home.) So I did a little experiment. I put him in the grey suite ( a room where they have cameras on your dogs) I watched my dog sit in this room ALONE FOR SIX AND A HALF HOURS. I took videos and photos of my dog changing sleeping positions all day. this was a daycare perk , not even boarding. My dog was trapped inside this tiny room ALL DAY that looked like a jail when I'm paying nearly 50$ for him at daycare. Not until I called (four times!!! until they picked up and demanded he go outside and play outside for the rest of the day did I watch someone take him out of that room to go play ) Another ironic part- they take pictures for their report cards right? So your dog looks so happy and energetic playing all day... I watched the group of girls in the 30 min my dog was actually outside interact with each other on the cameras, then quickly take pics holding the dogs and acting like they're having so much fun, then put them all right back in their crates! I was ALSO told he was sleeping so much because they are mimicking home life... (that's funny, I can do that for free if I left him at home all day with 0 human or other animal contact) My dog is VERY playful VERY full of energy he is a 5 month old puppy and plays in our dog park everyday about 4 times a day or more and loves to interact with other dogs. On top of that, I only had him go here for three days and all three times he SPRINTED to go outside when I picked him up because he had been neglected to go outside to use the bathroom. When I told him this, they said "oh well maybe he prioritized playing over peeing" My dog is potty trained and has NEVER had this problem especially when he is out playing all day with me in the same sort of setting, he will not have to pee that bad and poop unless confined for more than 5-6 hours which is exactly what I proved they were doing with him. He was full of energy and acted like he needed to sprint and run around as soon as he got home. After complaining multiple times and also hearing stories from other friends and families in the dog park that I frequently attend, I demanded a refund. It has been about 5 days and I have still not received the refund. do NOT enroll your dog in this place. Most unprofessional place I've ever been. I have never been so frustrated and appalled by any business before. read more

Social pet was a last minute decision for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. When I came in to tour the facility and let my baby Cupcake try out the day camp, everything was great. The front desk lady was sweet and talkative. She made me feel like my baby i was going to be safe and happy! Upon pick up from the boarding, I was very disappointed. The level of customer service was well below par. It wasn't busy, and the lady (different from before) had nothing to say about my baby's 3 days there. She barely said anything. I mean, I expected a little more about her time, how she did and interacted with the other dogs. I am not sure I would go back there, if they aren't nice to the owners, I'm sure they aren't nice to our fur babies. I also brought a ton of dog food and somehow it was "misplaced". We take our dogs here and the staff and facilities are amazing. Our dogs are welcomed and I feet that they care for them as well as w would. We have terriers who are pretty energetic and we take them in a couple of times a week to run off the extra energy. They come home tired and happy. My husband paid $32 and they asked if he wanted her to have a bath (not mentioning any extra charges) and when he went to pick her up they charged him ANOTHER $48 for teeth, bath, and nails. Absurd. He was never told there was an upcharge and on the phone they're totally unwilling to make any amends. In addition the dogs don't play all day. They "nap" aka give the workers a break from 12-2. We've been using Social Pet for our two dogs for every trip we take since moving to charlotte and we love it. Every time we pull up our dogs go bananas--they love their time there. The staff will send you pics via text every so often so you can keep abreast of everyone's activities if you're so inclined. I'm not sure what these other folks have experienced but we've used Social Pet on at least five separate occasions and the staff and service has been excellent each and every time. I began bringing my twin aka littermate maltipoos here mid-December 2018 and they love it! Not only do I feel they are safe at this establishment but also know they're having a great time. I'm able to monitor them via webcam throughout the day and I receive daily texts with a photo of them having fun. When my dogs stay there they even go out of their way to arrange for one of my dogs to get groomed. I love that they will frequently send you text messages with pictures of your dogs playing with other dogs and having a good time! Every time I call to make a reservation they remember my dogs by name and are quick to make the reservation. One of my dogs is a rescue and had a really bad growling problem when other dogs came around. After 1 day of day care that habit was out the window! So happy we were referred to Social Pet Hotel. Bill was awesome on the phone and offered me a free play day for my pups. They were so thorough in calling my vet to check shot records. They called me back to tell me my one pups vaccines were not up to date and I had to take care of it before boarding the next day (which I did). I so appreciated that. Terrible customer service!! At Social Pet, I made an appointment for my puppy to get get groomed over the phone. All I wanted was a simple bath and fluff for my Pomeranian and the staff member who answered the phone suggested a puppy trim so I agreed to get that too. I called the next day to come in at a later time than scheduled and personally spoke to the groomer who said that my dog was not scheduled for a puppy trim, but only for grooming which was weird but that was what I originally wanted to begin with. When I brought my dog in for the scheduled time, they told me that they couldn't take my dog in. I explained to the girl at the door (the same girl who I spoke to on the phone when making the appt.) that I confirmed the time with the groomer to come in at the later so she went back to speak to the groomer only to come back out to say that they were overbooked and can reschedule me again. They could have had the decency to call me if they couldn't take him in at the time or if they made a mistake in scheduling. I drove almost 40 minutes for them to tell me that they couldn't take my dog in when I had already made an appointment. It's okay though, my dog will be going to Barker Lounge from now on. It's a much better facility with better everything than Social Pet & also kind people who I can trust with my pet. read more

I i initially wrote a review about how dissatisfied I was about my consultation experience. But I was encouraged to give this place a second chance, and I did. For months my dog loved coming here. But then my dog got in a fight. Everyone kept telling us that my dog started it and my dog was aggressive when my dog has never been mean or aggressive in her life. She had never hurt another dog and not even since then has she exhibited any bad behavior. Idk what happened that day, but something is off and to this day I don't have a good feeling when it comes to this place. read more

After searching Yelp and Facebook, we decided to give Social Pet a try, and we're so glad we did! Social Pet is a great place for doggy daycare. The staff are very friendly, and they even sent me a text message with a pic of my dog to let me know how things were going. The facility appeared and smelled clean, and there was ample room for dogs to run and play. There is a large outdoor playpen that also has awnings for shade. There is also an indoor soft surface playpen. The dogs appeared to be separated by size and/or temperament. Our dog stayed for two afternoons at Social Pet, and when I came to pick her up each time she was exhausted (thankfully) and looked and smelled great (not always a given with some doggy day cares). I appreciate the staff being so kind and accommodating on such short notice; if we are ever in need of a doggy day care in Charlotte, Social Pet will be at the top of our list! read more

So sad the direction this place headed. We were customers from day one - couldn't tell enough people to take their pets there...; however, they have completely lost their initial vision it seems. The atmosphere has completely changed (and not for the better). The staff members/owners never greet people/pets (like they used to) and seem more interested in chatting to each other and gossiping behind the front desk. The phones are never answered and the 'play' areas are boring even to watch on camera! The staff used to be attentive, personable, and caring towards our pets. The prices are ridiculous for the amount of actual social interaction the dogs get - especially the little dogs. They are left to roam around bored for hours in one room or caged alone, even though supposedly they brought on more staff to interact with them - the little dogs get no outside time and very little physical interaction from the staff. The employees are often seen texting on their phones, or just aimlessly wondering around the rooms, while the dogs are left alone. They used to send updates and we received smiles all around from the staff members every time we arrived, or left for the day; they always knew each and every dog by name and cared about them, as if they were truly pet people. The programs and parties used to be fun and something even we looked forward to as pet parents. Now it seems all for show, so they can up their prices even more and attract new customers- no attention paid to the people who helped them get to where they are. It's very sad. This place was something special when it first opened but now its completely void of its original personality and mission. My dogs used to come home exhausted but obviously happy - they used to bark with excitement when we drove in for drop offs but now they just come home bored and depressed, which is exactly what has happened to this place in general. My pets will never be back unfortunately, but at least the owners made some money out of us to start up what used to be a family run, wonderful idea for a business. read more

I absolutely love Social Pet!! My dogs get so excited when we pull into the parking lot. There is a ton of space for my dogs to run and they always come back tired! Great staff and clean building! Love having the webcam option to check in while I'm away! read more
