My dog being neglected for 6-7 hours at daycare
    Erin D.

The biggest scam I've ever encountered. WATCH THE WEBCAMS! Watch to see how long your dog is actually playing. This place (as I thought) stood out from other places and charge DOUBLE than most places because of the promise of agility, puzzles and games and special one on one time- a stress free environment (as they told me. ) The first problem was finding out after a day of my golden retriever puppy attending - (found out through friends) you have to specifically request these "enrichment" features (even though you're already paying for it.) Secondly, after asking again about my dog participating in these features - they told me "oh, well, leo just wasn't interested so we haven't been having him participate because hed rather play" Which is literally why I was paying extra for him to go here... The WORST part is that I started to watch the cameras on the webcam open at my desk all day- NOBODY is outside playing? So if my dog likes to play so much and you're catering towards his personal needs... why isn't he playing? I was told that there just wasn't enough staff trained to have all the dogs playing in different times because they go out in little groups at a time. You will notice that there are always empty play rooms even if the dogs are outside playing in their time slots. All day... maybe once in the morning for a half hour I saw my dog play and once in the afternoon for a half hour. I asked about this, and they gave me multiple excuses. the only other room he could have been in is the kennels... When I confronted them about this , Then I was told in the heat they don't usually leave dogs out to play (if you told me it was too hot for him to play all day and waste my money , I would have kept him home.) So I did a little experiment. I put him in the grey suite ( a room where they have cameras on your dogs) I watched my dog sit in this room ALONE FOR SIX AND A HALF HOURS. I took videos and photos of my dog changing sleeping positions all day. this was a daycare perk , not even boarding. My dog was trapped inside this tiny room ALL DAY that looked like a jail when I'm paying nearly 50$ for him at daycare. Not until I called (four times!!! until they picked up and demanded he go outside and play outside for the rest of the day did I watch someone take him out of that room to go play ) Another ironic part- they take pictures for their report cards right? So your dog looks so happy and energetic playing all day... I watched the group of girls in the 30 min my dog was actually outside interact with each other on the cameras, then quickly take pics holding the dogs and acting like they're having so much fun, then put them all right back in their crates! I was ALSO told he was sleeping so much because they are mimicking home life... (that's funny, I can do that for free if I left him at home all day with 0 human or other animal contact) My dog is VERY playful VERY full of energy he is a 5 month old puppy and plays in our dog park everyday about 4 times a day or more and loves to interact with other dogs. On top of that, I only had him go here for three days and all three times he SPRINTED to go outside when I picked him up because he had been neglected to go outside to use the bathroom. When I told him this, they said "oh well maybe he prioritized playing over peeing" My dog is potty trained and has NEVER had this problem especially when he is out playing all day with me in the same sort of setting, he will not have to pee that bad and poop unless confined for more than 5-6 hours which is exactly what I proved they were doing with him. He was full of energy and acted like he needed to sprint and run around as soon as he got home. After complaining multiple times and also hearing stories from other friends and families in the dog park that I frequently attend, I demanded a refund. It has been about 5 days and I have still not received the refund. do NOT enroll your dog in this place. Most unprofessional place I've ever been. I have never been so frustrated and appalled by any business before.

We LOVE Social Pet! They are fantastic with our young pup. We love the report cards we receive and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure our dog feels taken care of each visit. We use Social Pet for both daycare and boarding and can't recommend them enough to our friends. Your dog will love it here!

Loving his furry and human friends

I've been taking my dog Amos to Social Pet for years now. He absolutely loves it and the staff is incredible. We turn down the street and his little tail starts wagging nonstop. I couldn't recommend Social Pet more.

After getting my dog in 2018, I had to find a place to bring him when we were going on vacation. I was very picky about where I was going to leave my brand new puppy, but when I stumbled upon Social Pet I was very eager to learn more about their services based on reviews I found online. They do a trial day to see and observe your dogs behavior and personality to make sure that he or she is not aggressive and will get along with the other dogs. It's a great way to see if Social Pet is a good fit for your dog and vise versa. After that first day, I knew that Social Pet was the place for Theo to go for daycare, boarding, and grooming services. He has gone back MANY times, and I don't have any complaints! The staff is friendly, they greet me and Theo every single time I come in with open arms and happy faces! I can definitely tell that they take great care of Theo when he's there. Every staff member takes time to understand the different personalities and needs of every dog. My dog has a special diet, therefore I send him with special food. The staff is understanding and patient of this and make sure that my dog gets what he needs every time he stays with them. It's the only place that I trust to leave my dog when I go away or when I'm out of town, or if I just need a day for him to run around, play, and get some energy out. I also love the grooming services they offer! The grooming staff is awesome with Theo and he looks so handsome every time I pick him up. The best part about Social Pet is that there are cameras so that you can watch your dogs play if you are nervous to leave them, and they send daily pictures of your dog whether he is there for boarding or just daycare. You can tell this isn't just a place to leave your dogs; it's a place where your pets will be cared for, played with, and loved. I can't recommend it enough!

We absolutely love Social Pet on Monroe road! The staff is absolutely amazing and our dog, Hattie B loves going to day care! What I love about Social Pet is they do a trial run to figure out what your dog needs in terms of socialization. That was a huge indicator for us in picking a day care spot because our dog does not do well in large groups. She has a specialized enrichment package where she gets extra attention and plays with 3-4 dogs total. The staff is super friendly and at the end of every day, you get a customized report card with photos and a small description of how your dogs day was! Truly amazing!!! Thank you Social Pet!

I was first recommended Social Pet Charlotte by my dog trainer when I was looking for an occasional doggy daycare. What instead I found was a true home away from home for my dog. I have taken advantage of nearly everything that social pet has to offer -- from daycare to enrichment to grooming and boarding, i wish I could give them 5 stars over and over again. In each of those areas they have exceeded my expectations. The entire staff is so kind and loving and I cannot imagine leaving my dog with anyone else. To any dog owner looking to leave their dog in the best possible hands, Social Pet Charlotte is the place for you!

We missed him like crazy and worried about how he was feeling. Dennis actually had us come in halfway through, showed us what Carson had been learning, and said something that I keep thinking about: Carson wasn't missing us. Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

My experience has always been great here. The front desk staff are all friendly and easy to talk to. It's always been easy to schedule drop offs and pickups. There have never been any unexpected surprise charges or anything like that. I love that the staff here ask questions about how to care for Lou but are not overkill when asking about his needs. I've been other locations and they insisted on going through a long questionnaire with me every visit on specifics about his care. And I'm the type of owner and Lou is the type of dog that it's like look - we're easy! Feed him, keep him safe and tell him he's a good boy. We'll both be happy! I do fully recommend this location for boarding or hair trimming. They have been great.

Absolute Failure of Care: Unauthorized Injury and Mismanaged Play…read moreI am writing this review as a serious warning to other dog owners. My experience with Camp Bow Wow Matthews was unacceptable, resulting in injury to my 10-month-old puppy and a complete failure of service on a follow-up visit. Incident 1: Unauthorized Procedure Resulting in Injury On his first visit, my 10-month-old puppy was subjected to an unauthorized nail trim that I did not request or approve. When I picked him up, his toenails had been cut down below the quick on multiple toes and were bleeding profusely. This indicates a severe lack of care and training, compounded by performing a painful procedure without owner consent. I complained to the staff immediately about the pain and distress this caused my puppy. Incident 2: Mismanagement of Play and Unapproved Confinement Despite the initial injury, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought him back. I picked him up to find he had been isolated and crated for the final three hours of the day. The staff claimed this was because he was "targeting a puppy." I reviewed the video footage they provided and confirmed that the behavior they labeled as "targeting" was clearly rough, energetic play--not aggression. For a professional daycare facility, misinterpreting normal puppy play and confining him for three hours instead of actively managing the group or separating him into a smaller, supervised area shows a complete lack of necessary skill and accountability. The combination of causing a preventable, unauthorized injury and then failing to provide the core service (socialization and supervised play) demonstrates a serious lack of professional care and judgment. I requested a full refund for both failed services. I strongly advise other pet owners to find a different facility that prioritizes the safety, accurate behavior assessment, and well-being of your dog.

For the first time, they need a 'meet and greet' this is a full day of daycare for free where they basically watch to see if your dog is an appropriate fit. It was hard to find a day that worked as they had specific times to drop off for the meet and greet. So that took a few weeks to get scheduled. When we finally got in there, they were very friendly and gave me a tour of the facility so I could see what it looked like. When I picked him up they told me how he did and that he 'passed'. Moving forward, you do have to book ahead of time to secure a spot for your dog. I have done it the day before and have not had a problem of them being full yet. They also post on their Instagram and on the door of the building if they have walk-in availability for the day without a reservation. You can book right on the website as well as purchase days of daycare online, and the more days you purchase, the more $$ you save. They do not have webcams and they don't do any sort of 'report card' at the end of the day, so we just assume that no news is good news with how he did, haha! They do have an Instagram and post many photos of dogs daily. Our dog has been featured about half the amount of days he's been there. When he comes home he is exhausted. Typically for that day and the day after! Last time we took him, he was so sleepy for almost 48 hours that we really debated if he was sick but then just realized he was exhausted from having a great day of daycare lol! They are open from 7-7 on the weekdays so convenient for work schedules. We will be back!
