We have been taking our puppy to the barker lounge for a couple months now and have really enjoyed it! For the first time, they need a 'meet and greet' this is a full day of daycare for free where they basically watch to see if your dog is an appropriate fit. It was hard to find a day that worked as they had specific times to drop off for the meet and greet. So that took a few weeks to get scheduled. When we finally got in there, they were very friendly and gave me a tour of the facility so I could see what it looked like. When I picked him up they told me how he did and that he 'passed'. Moving forward, you do have to book ahead of time to secure a spot for your dog. I have done it the day before and have not had a problem of them being full yet. They also post on their Instagram and on the door of the building if they have walk-in availability for the day without a reservation. You can book right on the website as well as purchase days of daycare online, and the more days you purchase, the more $$ you save. They do not have webcams and they don't do any sort of 'report card' at the end of the day, so we just assume that no news is good news with how he did, haha! They do have an Instagram and post many photos of dogs daily. Our dog has been featured about half the amount of days he's been there. When he comes home he is exhausted. Typically for that day and the day after! Last time we took him, he was so sleepy for almost 48 hours that we really debated if he was sick but then just realized he was exhausted from having a great day of daycare lol! They are open from 7-7 on the weekdays so convenient for work schedules. We will be back! read more

Our Spense loves Barker Lounge. He's boarded there many times since we moved to Charlotte in 2020. The staff are dog lovers who clearly find joy in watching our "kids" and I love the report cards we get after boarding. read more

Barker Lounge has been great for our dog. We have a large Great Pyrenees and he always comes back happy and tired. The staff are friendly and seem very engaged with the dogs. They definitely remember our pup. Also appreciate the social media posts from the day so we can see some action shots of our dog. This place has been a breath of fresh air for my husband, our 10 month old Boxer mix puppy (Rocket) and me! Three weeks ago, we actually received a tour of the facility during Rocket's first day/meet and greet. This made us feel really comfortable with the transparency of management and the staff. As his doggy care visits increased, we could see that the staff and management team give him a balance of love, exercise, play time, rest and treats too! Rocket definitely seems very happy to attend this doggy daycare each time we've dropped him off. As fur baby parents, this is reassuring for us to continue bringing him back to The Barker Lounge (TBL) on a weekly basis. Lastly, it should be noted that he doesn't come back home dehydrated, sad or injured.....it's a safe, well-supervised and FUN-loving environment for our hyperactive guy. Having said that, we could not be more grateful for the folks at TBL. I tried three different dog daycares in the area before finding Barker Lounge, but I'm so glad I eventually found them! I have been taking my dog to Barker Lounge for quite some time now and recently started coming to this specific location in March. Honestly, you can't go wrong at either place. Both facilities have incredible staff who go above and beyond to make your dog happy and keep everyone having fun. I am so happy to be part of the Barker Lounge family! My dog is full of energy and also has separation anxiety, which isn't the best combination. He comes here four days a week and has a blast with his friends. We found The Barker Lounge in 2019 after moving from South Florida. We were looking for a place to bring our sweet boy to play with other dogs while we work. He is a chocolate lab full of energy. We toured a few daycare places but settled on The Barker Lounge. Buster is so excited to go. It's a great place to board too. Because we bring Buster there for daycare, it isn't a strange place to him if we have to board. The facility is clean and the staff attentive and amazing. They have not disappointed and we are so glad to have found a place that takes such good care of our sweet boy. He is exhausted when he comes home and it's a good exhaustion. If I could give six out of five stars I would. I highly recommend this place. read more

Like the Barker Lounge located on Montford, East Charlotte is just as amazing!! Caitlin and Russ did a superb job in choosing the location, decor (think dog bones and tiki huts) and friendly staff. My dog stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. The staff posted numerous videos and photos of the boarding dogs. Oh and the groomer for this location is also outstanding. My dog had a full groom and looked like a rockstar when I picked her up. Bravo on opening this second location!! read more

Chloe joined the crew in July and she loves it! We spent 2 months abroad and when she was back it was like she had not been away for too long as per Kevin, she got used to it with no drama. Everybody is very nice and treats her very well and this is exactly what I expect from the place that takes care of my best friend/ dogdaughter. And groomer everyday is a great advantage. My dog and I just relocated back to the East Coast after I spent four years on the West Coast and even though I am not new to North Carolina I am new to Charlotte and it is very hard for me to trust new people with my dog after some things he has been through his first year of life. He is the sweetest puppy, and such a playful boy. The staff handles his energy very well. Most of the staff is very kind as well. Of course like any place there are a few who clearly like dogs better than they like people, but as long as they're treating my dog well that is all that matters to me. And my boy is always so excited to go to daycare. It's very rare that I am comfortable leaving Enzo with anybody else, but I am so glad we found the Barker lounge. He was able to come with me to my last job, and to my current job he can but not every day so on the days that he cannot come with me and in the rare times that I will travel without him, I am so glad we found a safe and fun home away from home for him. He is the most precious thing in my life and the staff really seems to get that and treat him as such. Let me start off with I was hoping to find an area to do a google review for Barker Lounge East Charlotte vs Barker Lounge on Montford but this will have to do. I attempted to wait 24 hours for some type of response in regards to my concern but I have not heard from a manager or anyone since we picked our baby up on Monday eve between 6 and 6:30pm. I was promised that the manager would give me a call to go over my concerns from the check out assistant (who's name I have forgotten at this point). We dropped our dog off on Friday morning with no markings, scratches or wounds on his person period. I checked social media over the weekend for pictures/videos of my dog and he was as I left him; unharmed, unscathed and not wounded. On Monday when my wife went in to get our dog she came out with a look of disgust and annoyance. I wasn't sure what had happened until she got to the truck to let our boy in and I saw his face. There was a dime sized opened wound and a small open scratch on his face near his eye. Had the wound been any closer I'm sure that his eye would have been punctured. I went inside to speak to this woman (again I do not remember her name) and as I began to talk she pulled up our boy's file and proceeded to tell me about an incident that occurred in 2017 at the Montford location. Well, that incident had absolutely NOTHING to do with what happened on this stay so it was irrelevant. However, because each stay at Montford my boy would come home with deep scratches, we pulled him from there and started taking him to another day camp/boarding facility all together. Her excuse or insinuation at that time was that maybe my dog laid his face against the fence and hurt himself. Well, if that was the case perhaps whatever fencing you have at East needs to be replaced or modified to prevent further injuries of other fur babies. This open would on my boy's face (near his eye) was not shown on any of the pictures they posted to their social media (Facebook) so it had to have occurred sometime after Sunday's post at 2:452 pm and the time of pick up. I may not be so irritated had someone noticed this and called or sent a message to inform us of his injury but they did not. So to me that means they were not watching or protecting and making sure my boy and others were safe. Then to be dismissed and NOT contacted at any point during or after (as it has been 24 hours plus) is really putting a bad taste in my mouth. I dropped my boy off to play and be cared for. Cared for to me means he's protected. I know how dogs play and I am also aware that my dog plays hard and loves to have fun but this is TOTALLY unacceptable. He has been at another location for over 2 years and yes, he plays hard but in those 2 years he has NEVER come home with open bite wounds or wounds period. They actually care and try to make sure that the babies are all safe. Apparently, that is not part of Barker Lounge East Charlotte's repertoire. I will NEVER take him back to any Barker Lounge but particularly Barker Lounge East. I will NEVER recommend that anyone take their dog to Barker Lounge East again. And I wish I could have given them a 0 rating versus a 1 but I had to do that in order to leave a review. Absolutely love The Barker Lounge-East! My dog perks up when I say, "Want to go to daycare?" When we pull up, Skye starts wagging and literally pulls me into the building without even saying good-bye! She enjoys daycare, and I love daycare is a part of boarding! Skye is completely worn out from ruffing with her buddies and getting attention she loves from the staff. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and they have wonderful communication via email, text, or call. Skye has red flag experiences at the vet, groomer, and was not very friendly and social at another daycare. But, at TBL, nothing but tail wagging and perking her unique ears! I do not normally write negative reviews, but we really want to help another family hopefully avoid what happened to us when we took our puppy here this last week. She is 6 months and we did research about day care options and Barker Lounge came up with great reviews at an affordable rate and is convenient for us to get to. I'm not sure if there is a huge difference between their two locations in terms of how things are run and the staff, but our experience at the east Charlotte one was truly terrible. We run a camp for a short time in the summer and thought we would consider a day care program so our pup could have some extra socialization and playtime while we have longer work days out of the house. Our puppy has never shown an ounce of aggression. She's timid around new dogs and wants to check it out first and eases into play (she's 6 months!) but is a goofball. Zach, who we spoke to via email and then when we arrived for her assessment didn't want to hear a single word about our dog, her temperament, or what we've seen from her socially. He was rude and condescending and very stand-offish. We told him it was our first dog and a brand new experience so we really didn't know what to expect. He walked us around quickly - they have about 10 dogs (some large) in very small half-wall areas indoors - it's very cramped. The people in each group (one per group) look completely disinterested and are on their phones half of them. The outdoor areas are a little larger - but we couldn't get any information about how much time they got outdoors. He took our pup right away when we walked in and didn't even say any words to us or share what was going to happen with her. After our "tour" - during which we saw our pup isolated in an outdoor space with absolutely no one around - we got in the car and had a bad feeling. My partner actually went back in to say we decided against leaving her there and we wanted to take her. Then Zach was suddenly very sweet and apologetic and talked us into giving it a shot. We left and 90 minutes later he called me and told me they had to pull our dog from group play because she was being really aggressive and showing dangerous behaviors for the other dogs. I pressed him and asked specific questions about how many dogs were in the group and how she was introduced - I had forced him to listen to how we have seen her be timid and need time to check out a situation before being ready to be playing and in a large group. He said she had met them one at a time and was in a group with TEN other dogs. So in less than 90 minutes he expected our 6 month old dog to adapt to a new place, new people, new smells, and ten other dogs without getting completely overwhelmed or overstimulated. I told him I had never seen any aggression from her and so it seemed clear it was based on the situation. He said he would not pass her through her assessment and wouldn't be able to come there for daycare. I immediately went and picked her up and I have never seen her so anxious to get out of a place. I couldn't believe the whole situation and it felt awful to know I had left her in such a terrible situation for her. So if you have a younger dog or care about the environment or how the staff and people view and work with your dog - this is NOT the place for you. Definitely look elsewhere - the other place we took her to the next day to try were a world of difference. They said she was nothing but sweet and silly and so fun to have - she did great in a small group with other dogs that had similar temperaments and also were more timid. They had us fill out a full lengthy paper on her and her habits/behavior and the staff was super reassuring and lovely and helped us feel ok about trying a new place. So I know we aren't crazy - avoid Barker Lounge if you have high standards for your dogs care! read more

Barker Lounge on Monroe is a real gem! Our dog, Marty, has been going there for over 2 years, 3 times a week. We don't actually need doggie daycare, but wanted to make sure that our pup gets a chance to play with other dogs and is socialized with people, too! The staff is exceptional. They are knowledgeable and loving to their "clients". Marty is SO happy when I let him know it is a Barker Lounge day and runs to the front door. We have also left him on numerous occasions for "camp" when we have gone out of town. The staff knows he is a picky eater and spends extra time trying to get him to eat. I can't recommend this place highly enough.... 5 stars isn't enough! read more

We have brought our 3 dogs here for the last couple months. But in reality we only brought 2 because the second time we brought our dogs in our puppy had developed a Papilloma on his mouth. Which is only contagious to small puppies or dogs with compromised immune systems. We called our old vet to learn more, prior to internet research. The whole 9 yards to fix it. To say we were suspicious considering none of our dogs have ever had one would be an understatement. Either way, it happened. So they told us to go to the vet they advertise next door and have it removed. We were told it was simple and he would have to wait a day to come back. The vet then told us they wouldn't remove it and to wait for it to fall off naturally, but they couldn't tell us how long it would take. So we waited 2 months (while still bringing our other two pups in) until it fell off and waited two days to call and say yes it was gone and a skin tag had been left behind, a pink skin tag. A papilloma is a cauliflower like white wart. They told us to go back to the vet and have him looked at. We went back to the vet who then told us he was not an expert on papilloma's and could not tell us in any certainty that it was gone because of the skin tag but that he could write a note saying the wart was no longer there and that it had in fact fallen off. So we went over and got our pup cleared with the owner who looked at it personally and put the note in that yes he was in fact papilloma clear, had a skin tag and could return to playing. So today we take him in. A day after being cleared and immediately get a call saying that the GM inspected him and despite the note and the vet visit saying there was no papilloma present they quarantined him and refused to let him play. The GM called and argued on the phone that it looks exactly like it did two months prior as if we don't inspect our dog daily. He clearly did not look at the photos that they originally sent us as comparison because we have. He argued to argue against the note that the owner had put in and left our dog screaming by himself while our other two were put in daycare. So he took away his siblings and let him listen to all the other dogs enjoying themselves for 2 hours. We were told they would call us in 10 minutes to tell us what was happening. We had to call them twice after 20 minutes because a lot of the time you can't get ahold of them which should have been a red flag. Then the GM made his call to argue on why he's right and tell us the owner would be coming in to take a look again. 2 hours go by with no word. And they don't have cameras so you can't see what they do behind the scenes. We call around and find out that this is in fact not a huge deal and other daycares were shocked with how this was dealt with. So we just go in to get our dogs. Hear our dog screaming in an isolation pen. Cancelled baths, cancelled upcoming boarding and re booked them across town in a facility that frankly has much better policies. We will not be returning and absolutely telling people to steer clear because a place that lacks communication and is hard to get ahold of is not where I will ever be comfortable leaving my dog. I feel for the people who don't work from home and have issues. Just know they will leave your dog alone and screaming even if you've been cleared because the GM apparently doesn't trust anyone beyond himself even the owner. Yikes Remember there are no cameras here so they don't have to tell you what happens back there. On our tour originally we watched a dog escape into another inside pen and attack another dog. The handlers quickly reacted so we thought it was ok and accidents happen but truthfully this is something that crosses our mind every time we drop them off. We still wonder if they ever told the owner. The 2 stars are for the groomer who we only had the opportunity to use once and the fact that our dogs came back alive from daycare and our one dog boarding for 2 days. read more

Barker Lounge East is a safe haven for our rowdy pups! The staff is so sweet and considerate and we always know our pups are in loving hands. My golden retriever has recurring tummy troubles and every single time he has an accident, the staff calls me with a detailed report after every occurrence. It's clear how much the staff loves our pups and it's even more clear how much our pups love the staff! One time I brought my dog to Mcalpine dog park and he instantly sprinted over to a guy I'd never seen before. They were instantly embraced in the familiar belly rub cuddle that my dog only uses when he sees someone he loves. Turns out, the guy worked at Barker Lounge and my dog, Captain, remembered him fondly! I'm so beyond appreciative of the great love and care the BL staff provides to our pups when we're busy working. If you are looking for a reputable, trustworthy place to take your dogs for daycare or to board them while you're traveling - this is the place!
