We have used this facility multiple times throughout the year and have never had any issues. Our energetic dogs come home calm, sleepy, and quiet. We love that the most pictures on Facebook and Instagram so you can see your pet everyday. Cons: There is a confusion about pickup times displayed on its website versus other forms of communication. After a certain time, they will charge an extra daycare charge after boarding. No cameras to check-in on your pet(s). read more

I took my 10-month-old puppy, Mack, to this facility for daycare yesterday. When I picked him up, I was informed that he had some scrapes on his side. I was told that the injuries were minor and were believed to have been caused by Mack bumping into things because he is an exuberant, playful puppy. I was also told that the scrapes had been cleaned and that there was no reason for further treatment. I specifically asked whether Mack had displayed any aggression or behavioral issues while at the facility. Heather, the manager, assured me that he had not and described him as simply being very energetic. The following morning, Mack was clearly not himself. He was lethargic, whiny, and refused to eat. I took him to my veterinarian, who examined him and determined that the wounds were consistent with a dog bite. I immediately attempted to communicate this information to the facility. Unfortunately, rather than addressing my concerns, the facility became defensive. The person I spoke with by phone requested a photograph of Mack's injury. After I provided the photograph, I received an email stating that the injury was "superficial" and did not require treatment. My concern is that the facility failed to accurately identify or communicate the nature of Mack's injuries. Dog bite wounds can appear superficial externally while causing significant underlying soft-tissue damage, which is why I believe this incident should be taken seriously. I am sharing this experience in the hope that other pet owners are aware of what occurred and that the facility takes appropriate steps to prevent similar incidents from happening to other animals. When I attempted to obtain an incident report, as I had been advised to do, I was threatened with a restraining order. I found this response particularly concerning given that I was simply attempting to document what happened to my puppy and obtain information about his care while he was in the facility's custody. read more

We have used Big Red's for over a year now and it's one of the best businesses in the area! They have the best folks working the front desk and working with the dogs. Our pups come home tired from playing all day, which is exactly what you want. It makes me happy when my dogs are excited turning into Big Red's driveway. It's worth every penny to have great daycare and boarding for your babies!!! read more

Big Reds Bed & Biscuit - Two happy Big Red's customers. - Pet Sitting Near Me - Indian Trail, North Carolina

I love how--when I tell Pierre (8 yr old Pek-Chihuahua mix) he's "going to Big Red's"--his ears perk up as head cocks, eyes light, and the last three minutes of our drive there are filled with excited whining--he actually nearly chokes himself on the car leash when I open the car door, leaping from the SUV to race into the building with a huge smile, forgetting all about Mom immediately. HE's gone there for over two years now for daycare twice monthly and many times boarding, and owner Blair knows him well, greeting him by name. I've ALWAYS been treated with respect and professionalism by the staff. He had gone to another local daycare for a couple years prior to that and I didn't return after an unpleasant experience. I personally really like the fact that they understand canine behaviors, and will not allow truly aggressive dogs there, but that all dogs, large and small, can romp and playfully rough-house in canine fashion, with positive supervision. We love Big Red's! read more

My dogs stayed two nights. TWO. They have never been boarded and I'm so upset with their treatment. One of my babies paw are burned! They told me when I picked them up they had been limping "probably from running so much" which is false. And my other dog now has a sore inbetween his toes and his whole paw is swollen from it. He has never had anything like this before and is almost 8 y/o. I'm so disappointed. Do not recommend. Also my boy dog has seperation anxiety and takes trazadone for it. When picking them up BOTH dogs are drugged up. My female dog does not take medication. She was falling asleep in our arms just walking to the car. Don't trust this place. I included a pic of each of their paws. The burnt and the sore. Also when you check online pickup times say 3-7pm. I went right at 3 and they charged me an extra $40 for not getting them this morning when their website specifically says pickup 3-7pm no morning times and they don't answer the phone. I would have loved to get my dogs sooner. Terrible. read more

If you treat me like a dog, what do you treat my dog like? Showed up 1 minute late to drop off my dog for a boarding reservation (10:31 am). Parking lot full of cars. I could hear people talking and working. Tried to get someone's attention for a while. Zero response. Had to change my plans for the day. Emailed to cancel. No apology in the reply. Yes I was late. No this is not a reasonable way to treat people. read more

I read several reviews for Big Red's and must say, I don't get it. I've been several times, before reading the reviews, and I love this place...as do my pups. One of the few places that keep the dogs out of their cage when boarding other than for eating or sleeping. Every time I pick my dogs up they sleep for two days straight and they are always excited to go back. Yes, I wish there were cameras and a viewing area but I can understand why there isn't. Prices for boarding just went up and are a little steep for my preference. Day care stayed the same so I'll continue that for sure however, overnight boarding has become cost challenging. Regardless, I highly recommend Big Red's. read more

The owner has no respect for animals or people. There are no cameras for you to look at to watch your dogs. They will not give you a walk-through of the place. They do not separate large dogs and little dogs. And the owner is very, very, very disrespectful. You will get a confirmation of your dogs daycare for the day and time you request, but then they won't let you in once you get there. read more

I took my lab there for boarding and when I picked her up they said she had and accident and soiled her blankets. Which these things happen. After I got her in the car and started down the road on my 3 1/2 hour trip home and keep smelling an awful smell. I took her out of the car and her under belly and legs had poop all over them. She never has accidents like this. When I dropped her off I had all her feed bags and medicine labeled as to when she should have them. After trying to figure out what went wrong my vet and I figured they probably gave her a double dose of her fish oil tablets in one day instead of just once a day. I can not prove this but it would make sense causing the diarrhea. Had this been another type of medicine it could have had serious results. I called back and told them about the mess she was in when I picked her up. Could not say anything about double dose of meds because I couldn't prove it. All they said is sorry. She will not be going back. read more

We bring our two chocolate labs for day care and boarding and they love it here! They get so excited to see the staff and their other dog friends. Our dogs always come home happy and tired. I stress less when planning travel knowing my dogs love the place they are staying and the staff loves dogs as much as we do. We are lucky to have found this place! Also, I read a few reviews that I thought were disturbing about how the staff were rude and judgmental and I would just like to note that I could never imagine anyone I have interacted with to be this way. I love my dogs and when looking for a place for them to be boarded they took the time to explain how they run their place and they really seem to get it. They have to maintain an environment for a lot of dogs with different personalities and have to keep the overall well being in mind so I do not believe they would turn anyone away if they did not feel it was necessary. read more

We've been taking Anna, our Siberian Husky, to Big Reds since she was old enough to go. Now she's almost one. We LOVE Big Reds and our dog does too! They do an excellent job taking lots of photos of the pups while there so you can check in and see all the fun they are having in the back yard. Anna goes to day camp and has been boarded there and we don't have one negative experience. It has taken me years to finally review this business because the interaction I had with the owner was so awful. I had boarded my dog there many times before and didn't realize that she had changed her policy about dog food. She requires you to individually bad each portion of food. I was dropping my dog off before heading to the airport and she informed me of the change saying the notice was in the confirmation email. That was totally my fault and I asked if she could make an exception. No she couldn't. Ok. Do you have an bags that I can portion her food out. No, she didn't. My dog was staying for 11 days and I needed to bag up 23 separate bags of food. I begged her to make an exception because I didn't have time to go home and come back and make my flight. She informed me that I could go to a grocery store and buy some bags, but that would have taken even longer. She would not allow my dog to stay. I told her how disappointed I was with her service and she yelled at me to take my dog and not come back. I was so stunned that I left without a word. I called my vet in tears and they said they could board her for me. I made sure to ask about the food because the owner flat out LIED to me and said that it was a state requirement that I individually bag my food. My vet said that was ridiculous and not true. This was a HORRIBLE experience. My young daughter was with me and she couldn't understand what had happened and why I was so upset that I was crying. Just don't ever leave your fur babies with this woman. read more

While this is one of the few places that allows your dog plenty of time outside, their priority is speed and efficiency. If you want to ask questions or give your dog a moment to adjust before passing them off, you will not receive it. Your dog will be ready in the lobby for pick up before you even open the door. I guess they record your vehicle make and model? Again, if you're looking for somewhere to comfort your pup and make you feel comfortable leaving them upon arrival and pick up, this is not the place. I felt very rushed during pickup and drop off and found it alarming for someone who doesn't do day care every week. The owner will respond to most questions with- "It's a liability" or "You can find that on the website". Customer service is NOT a priority outside of speed. read more

I will start this review by admitting my wrong doings. In frustration I left a voicemail that expressed my irritation, my desire to not do business with them again and request for a refund. (Which I've been told I won't receive) My second poor judgement came in speaking to an employee. I felt I was getting the run-around in trying to speak with the owner and I felt disrespected. I was angry by this point and wanted to get my point across. I'm sure I came across rude. Having admitted that, I will also say that the owner is unprofessional, unkind and lacking in basic customer service skills. The establishment has "very strict lobby hours." I've now been told that four times in a scolding voicemail from the owner. They lock their doors daily from 10:30-3:00 for staff breaks, sanitation and shift changes. I was aware of this, having arrived several minutes early to pickup my dog on our first visit. From that point forward I knew to follow their schedule. Today I pulled into their parking lot at 10:30am on the nose by my car's clock. Not ideal, certainly cutting it close, but still on time. Unfortunately, the employees didn't consider me on time and the doors were locked. We ended up arguing over one minute. My clock said 10:30; theirs said 10:31. One minute. But the real issue is how the owner handled that situation. Yes, I've admitted I didn't show myself in the best light when I found myself locked out, believing I was on time. But this woman owns this business. Her job is customer service. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle an upset customer. And leaving a chastising voicemail is, in my opinion, a wrong way. Avoiding speaking to a customer by having an employee lie to say you've left for the day is also wrong. A courteous, professional conversation would have gone a long, long way. I could certainly say more and give quotes from her voicemail. But there's no point. The gist is... they have "VERY STRICT lobby hours and you had better not be, in their opinion, even one minute late. read more

I just dropped off my dog an hour ago, and I am going to pick her up and never go back. I asked for a tour of the facility and was told 'NO' by Rachel, the manager. Wish I had read the other reviews first. Here is what happened: When Rachel told me I couldn't have a tour and made some other very disconcerting comments, I asked to have Blair (the owner) call me. Rachel said she probably 'would not call' me - WHAT! When your manager tells your customers they can't speak to the owner because the owner expects the manager to address all matters, what kind of company are you running. Clearly, you're running one where the owner fails in her responsibility of operations. I had to insist that Rachel take my name for Blair to call me; again I am reminded Blair probably would not because she expected Rachel (manager) to handle things. Apparently Rachel put her massive ego ahead of her professional responsibility. Or, maybe Blair is just an absentee business owner. Of course, the next thing Rachel offers is if I'm not happy then I can take my dog elsewhere. That was a foregone conclusion in my mind. So Rachel's representation of Blair's business is basically 'we don't need you as a customer'. Blair is fully aware of Rachel's conduct and is ok with it. Rachel seemed to believe that her only duty as a manager was to use what she considered a 'polite tone' and that if you challenged her weak and highly underdeveloped managerial and customer service skills that you were being rude. No, Rachel and Blair, I am not rude, I am not using your facility because neither of you are professionals at your given business. And while I do not run a dog facility, I do run a small business and if I used your philosophies I'd have been out of business long ago. So, let me recap: No tour of the facility allowed No access to the owner - at all No manager with common sense to hear the needs of a customer or see the opportunity to build a relationship for future business An owner who doesn't want to be bothered with the day-to-day operation of the business and leaves someone ill-equipped in her place - OR - who just plain doesn't care. Again, Blair may be an absentee business owner. This place doesn't need your hard earned dollars. PLEASE READ THESE REVIEWS AND GO ELSEWHERE WITH YOUR VALUED FAMILY PET. read more

We had a very bad experience here a few years back. My dog started attending after a recommendation from a neighbor to attend since another neighbor owns the establishment. After a few weeks my dog was bit while playing there. I understand those things happen, but I was called and told my dog bit someone and to come get him immediately as he was no longer welcome.I got him home to realize he was the one dropping blood from his back leg. I never was able to get a clear answer from anyone on what happened. My dog happily attends a new day care where I can trust he is in good hands. Certainly would not recommend this establishment. read more

Don't be fooled by the pretty Red Barn! We boarded our 2 dogs there twice. Everything seemed to go well the first time, from what we could see. The staff is very protective of what you can see and they check the dogs in and get the owners out in a hurry! I had questions and asked to see the back yard, where the dogs would play and she said "no, the owner doesn't allow that, but you can go on our website and see our photos that we posted" . I asked if I could at least see where they would sleep and she did allow me to view the small kennels. The second time our dogs stayed I was horrified by what happened. It was a late November stay, for a week, over thanksgiving. when we picked them up, they were both wet and shivering. Within minutes I noticed my older dog looked ill and thin. Over the next few days He got worse, wouldn't leave our laundry room, and became very lethargic. After 2 trips to the vet, he was diagnosed with a virus and kennel cough. He had also lost 9 lbs. It was heartbreaking to see him like this, after I put my confidence in the staff at Big Reds to take great care of our dogs, as well as make sure that all the dogs records were up to date with shots, to prevent spreading illness. I called and spoke to Blaire (the owner) with my concerns. She was extremely rude and defensive. I really felt like she would want to know our experience, since they are a new facility and need local -repeat business, to do well. Blaire said that my older dog was terrified of the big blower they used after baths and that was the reason he was shaking. She refused let me ask questions and complete a sentence, before cutting me off. She loudly stated that if I'm so unhappy, then I should take my business somewhere else!! Then she hung the phone up! I was appalled by the owners unprofessional behavior and deeply hurt that my older dog was mistreated, and infected with the kennel cough virus. read more

If you are looking for quality day care or boarding for your best furry friend I'd strongly suggest you look elsewhere. I agree with previous reviewers that this place is a joke. We were denied a tour of the facilities by Rachel, the "manager". Odd! When we asked to have the owner of the facility contact us we were curtly advised that she would not. These people need to understand that as a business they make nothing, they sell nothing, they merely provide a service to the customer. In a nutshell....customer service. This basic concept appears to be beyond their comprehension. Folks, there are better options out there...facilities that do allow tours and do provide kennel cameras so you can check up on your pets and, believe it or not, do allow access to the owners! Don't waste you time with Big Reds. read more

I was so underwhelmed by Big Reds Bed & Biscuit. The worst part was that they wouldn't allow a tour of the facility. They said that they couldn't allow me to look inside and see where my dog would be for the day. They said that I could look at their Facebook pictures. I saw those. They were close up pictures of the dogs only. None of the pics were of the facility. Who knows what's back behind the closed door! The people that greeted me were nice but could be rather condescending at times. For me, that's a huge red flag. They seemed annoyed that I was asking so many questions. My animals are a part of my family and deserve to be treated as such. Big Reds was a Big Red Disappointment. Don't waste your time. read more

Very disappointed in this establishment! Boarded my dog a blue pit which has been there since she was 8months old who is almost 3. Day 1 on vacation they call to say my dog got into a fight no dogs were hurt but she had to be picked up in 24 hours after getting off a 5hr flight or they were going to have call the state (pound) on her. Luckily my boyfriends mom right out of surgery was able to help. I asked to see the video of my dog and they refuse to show me. I showed up at the daycare and they locked the door so I couldn't get in to talk to the very unprofessional owner Blair who just hung up on me prior to basically Yelling at me. After saying they would show a "Trainer" but not the owner. I feel like there is something shady going on and they stereotype my dog. For them to act like that I feel like they are hiding something. When they first called me my dog was unsafe for the other dogs, then unsafe for staff why they are calling the state, then me calling ask for video I'm harassing the worker's even though my dog is scratched up and limping, and lastly to basically treat me like a criminal and lock the door when I pulled up but let other people go in and all I want is to see what happen to my dog cause my dog has never attacked another dog. Do not take your dog here! Very unreliable and unprofessional! read more

I can't say enough how much my pups love going to Big Red's! They know when they are going, and they start the whining and barking before we leave the house. Everyone knows them both by name, and they get made over as soon as we walk in the door. They head straight to the door leading to the yard without even giving me a look back! I know they're taken care of, loved on, and they play so hard they sleep for hours once they get home! When the front desk staff see me pull in they call back for my girls and they are there and ready to go as soon as I finish checking out. I appreciate the efficiency and that I can grab them and go without a long wait or delay. I highly recommend Big Red's! I want to add- I've noticed, and am sad to see, what appears to be an attempt to defame Big Red's with negative reviews etc. from people that have never used their services. I have no doubt or question that my pups are safe and well taken care of during their time at Big Red's! read more

LOVED this daycare for our pup. Clean facility, great staff and great room for my baby to play.

Big Reds is the first place I have used to board my dogs. It came highly recommended by two colleagues so I figured I would try it. I have one dog who has gone a few times now and had the time of her life. She is very destructive at home and she comes home so tired from running around that she sleeps for 2-3 days straight. She loves getting to run and play with other dogs all day! I brought my other dog for the first time this weekend. I was very worried how she would do, she likes to be held 24/7 and doesn't care for other dogs. I wasn't sure how she would handle it but she came home and wasn't traumatized by the experience. I called to check on her the first day and they were great for not judging me for being a crazy dog owner. They also post pictures on Facebook daily so you can see how they are doing! I have suggested Big Red's to some friends who have also had great experiences with their dogs. They are reasonably priced and your dogs will get a much better experience than a typical boarding place. read more

Very dishonest owner!!! We sent our 5 month old German Shepard here for our 10 day vacation. We had been at the beach for a few days when the owner called to let me know that Max was bleeding. She told me maybe a skin tag had been ripped off from his armpit. I told her thank you for letting me know and that if anything changes to please let me know so I could send someone to pick him up. Upon our return home, Max had places on his snout that you could plainly see. I called to ask what happens to him. The assistant manager that answered the phone told me that happened when Max was in a scuffle and was bleeding and that the owner had called to tell me. I said, No. that's not what I was told. She ( they assisted manger) told me to hold and got the owner. The owner proceeds to get on the phone and go ballistic. She told me that did not happen there. I ask why she lied to me when she called me? The owner told me her assistant manger didn't know what happened that she wasn't even there the day Max was bleeding. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. Immature and poor customer service. They refuse to take accountability and I've seen for myself how they turn complaints around on some of their best customers (who also will pass their experience on to everyone they know). Blaire unfortunately refuses to heed any advice and that will eventually really hurt their business if it hasn't already. We made a reservation for Snickers at Christmas and unfortunately I got very sick and we were unable to go out of town. My husband got an email and voicemail from Big Reds stating. if they didn't hear back from us or get a deposit by x day, they would cancel his reservation (we have the email). A day or so later, I sent an email to apologize and they promptly told me we aren't welcome there anymore. Typically I certainly would have called to confirm the cancellation but I was in bad shape and my husband was scrambling to keep the house going . However, my husband assumed no issue based on their email and they would just cancel the reservation. I even offered to pay for his missed stay but received a "we wish you the best " response. I'm now aware of several others with complaints. read more
