Grooming is top notch. Boarding is even better. Gina and her crew ALWAYS take great care of both our Doxies and our Dobies no matter if we leave them for a few hours to be groomed or if we leave them for a week to board. They always keep you informed and my dogs just love them all. My Dobies especially love Tolli!!! I never take them anywhere else. read more

Zero, I am very disappointed today by the way I was treated! The owner literally called me A liar, after I told her that my husband who came in last time paid less than what I was being charged today. Also a lower rate was quoted when I made the appointment. she went on to say that I argued the last visit and that was why I was charged less!! I told her it wasn't me who picked up our dog. She consistently repeated that I argued! And she said; try going elsewhere to find a cheaper cost!! Are you aware that is poor treatment for customers!! You lost a customer over $10!! All you had to say was I'm sorry that happened? And I would have paid and left feeling peaceful. I Did not argue! a lack of customer service is bad for business. And rudeness to top that off, unacceptable! read more

Consistently good cuts for this standard poodle. Relatively easy to schedule within two weeks or so, with some weekend availability for the most part. I've been taking my dog here for almost a year now and have 0 complaints. They get the job done and charge a fair price. read more

We've had a time finding a groomer who would leave Roscoe looking proper for his breed--he's a Tibetan Spaniel. Ed, Groomer at Pet Village on Old York Road, knew just what to do and did a great job deshedding him and reducing his coat for the coming hot weather, but still leaving him appearing like our Roscoe should. He came home looking great and sporting a stylish shark bandana! We'll be back! read more

Miscommunication at the very least. And when I called to complain on what was done the person said it was failure in what was to be done. I told them no scarf or ties to be put on my dogs. This wish not heard none of what I asked for was done. I will not be going back and the person I talked to said I wouldn't want you back here. My dog Carson is a special needs blind rescue dog with a lot of skin issues due to his medication. Gina and Caren are wonderful co-owners and really care about the dogs who come in. They make everyone feel welcomed and Carson loves the extra attention he receives. The bathers do an excellent job getting him squeaky clean and pay fine attention to detail. Tolli is amazing at the Furminator de-shed treatment and they use the highest quality shampoos and conditioners along with it. Carson used to shed ALOT but now we can go an entire month or two without any loose fur. They also do a great job grinding his nails short and they are really smooth to the touch afterwards. The Pet Village prices are very reasonable and they are very accommodating too! Check them out this is a lovely family owned grooming and boarding business, you will not be disappointed!! read more

Pet Village - Non trained staff they don't know how to groom pure Breeds! - Pet Groomers Near Me - Rock Hill, South Carolina

I bought my long hair Dachshund 4 years ago, at Pet Village. Best thing I ever did. I never had any issues, she was perfect and I really enjoyed the experience, of buying a great dog. I had been looking for a good groomer, as I have had Lucy groomed at several different groomers and sometimes not a happy experience Lucy and I enjoyed the grooming experience. Everyone was very nice and I have to say, she looked and smelled great, and was not traumatized, as sometimes after a grooming, she would be scared and nervous. I am very satisfied, and I am going to check out their boarding, as I was very impressed with their knowledge and caring. Lucy gives them a 5*, and would be glad to recommend to anyone looking for a great groomer and a caring place. read more

I love Pet Village! They love their animals and want the best for them! The owner Linda helped me with managing the weight of my dog! She told me in a professionally stern way how I was doing a great disservice to my dog in overfeeding her! She was right! Also, as far as holding the shop's puppies, parents should understand that their children aren't capable sometimes of handling the puppies carefully and if the owner is overprotective so be it! 90% of my animals and supplies are from Pet Village! Keep up the good work Pet Village! read more

I scheduled an appointment for my two dogs. Before scheduling I inquired about their policies on covid. I was assured every employee wears a mask while inside and they cannot control what customers do, but do ask all customers to wear a mask upon entering the building. I expressed my gratitude for their precautions and booked the appointment. I arrive today with my two dogs. A woman opens the door for me. I assume she's walking out since she doesn't have on a mask. She instead holds the door open for me and then follows me inside, shutting the door behind her. I am greeted by receptionist, mask around her chin, mouth and nose completely exposed. Behind her the dog groomer, no mask in sight. I am stunned. All three employees, none have masks on. While I'm expressing my distaste for being told one thing on the phone and then to arrive and see that zero precautions are being taken for mine, my family's and my animals well being, yet another person walks in from the staff door.. no mask. Unbelievable! If my puppy hadn't broke his collar and almost ran in the road just before, I would have walked out upon entering a small building being surrounded by employees with no masks. I was terrified to take my puppy back outside, afraid I couldn't get him to the car safely. I was put into a very anxiety filled situation; having had my puppy escape his collar and almost get hit by a car in parking lot. I wanted to get him inside to a safe place. Then to enter and see that every thing I was told on the phone was BS.. making everything in me tell me to run out, leave and never come back, yet being scared. Which is the lesser of two evils? Leave and risk my dog running back into a 55mph main road? Or keep the appointment and pray they don't have covid, pass it to my dogs who will then pass it to me and my high risk family? I was in a daze.. the woman who held the door had went to the side to grab a disposable mask from a desk then came back and took one of my two dogs. I was in shock. Told the employees the importance of mask wearing, how I was lied to and would never have come knowing the way they truly are handling things regarding covid. They said they would wear masks and would groom them on back porch.. I left. Came home, cried, shaking, super upset. Was told before leaving would be a couple hours. 4hours later I get call that one of my dogs is done. I ask about the other and was met with surprise that I had another dog, placed on hold for them to come back on and say oh yeah, he'll be done in about 20minutes. My husband and I show up, first face we see, same teen that walked in staff door earlier with no mask, still, no mask. I had put back $120 cash for the groom. I instead used my card to pay exact amount, $100. WILL NEVER COME BACK!!!!!! If y'all have infected my dogs which in turn will infect me and my family and any of us die from your deceit, negligence and blatant BS, you can expect a law suit. Also have reported your lies to BBB. Peoples lives are at stake. You don't want to take It seriously, fine. But do not make such aronious statements of taking precautions only to show that none of what was said was true. Also, dogs haircuts aren't very good. Puppy's got one eyebrow much longer than the other, uneven leg hair length. The other has several choppy parts and also uneven hair length, tail they completely forgot to do . I waited over a year to get my fur babies groomed due to covid. This is the first place they've been postcovid. I have risked everything for my dogs to be groomed by a professional, I am truly upset beyond words with the entire experience. DO NOT recommend, not even to my enemies. HORRIBLE! read more

Prior to this past weekend, I had not left my fur babies in a boarding facility for the past FIVE years. So you can imagine my anxiety level when leaving them for 3 nights. In fact, I still would not have left them if it were not for the ability to leave them with Gina. Gina put me at ease and promised to take good care of my babies. She kept her promise. I have 5 babies, 2 of whom have post-trauma issues as rescues. Gina recognized this, and took extra special care of them. When I picked them up, my babies were happy to see me, but not in a way that suggested they had been miserable the whole time I was gone. They were happy and well-taken care of. And Gina had learned ALL five of their names and their individual personalities. Thanks to Gina, I will no longer say no to trips because I fear leaving my babies. read more

My fiancé, his teenaged daughters and I visited Pet Village on Saturday October 28, 2017. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with three small children's swimming pools on the ground, each with newspaper on the bottom, guinea pig water bottles hanging off the sides, and puppies in each. In one of the pools, there was an impossibly adorable toy poodle puppy. As I leaned over to pet the toy poodle puppy, Linda walked over and said to us (not jokingly), "Please be careful when holding the puppies. I can't tell which one of you is a child." I was stunned not only at her lack of an ability to say "hello" as the first words to come out of her mouth, but mostly by the fact that she was calling out our ages in a very inappropriate and condescending way (I am 25 years old, by the way). We proceeded to hold the various puppies, and no, we did not drop any or mishandle them. Another "funny" (sad) note is that as soon as I handed Linda my credit card, she was all smiles and painfully polite. I am aware of the great possibility that buying from a pet store may mean you are supporting puppy/animal mills. We rescued our first dog from a kill-shelter, but there was something so special about the poodle, and we felt quite bad for him being in that store. We ended up purchasing him that Saturday. Linda also claims that her puppies are not from puppy mills (because I asked) and that she has supposedly known the breeder for twenty years. I guess we threw her a bone and believed her. We will never purchase from a pet store again, as there are so many animals that need to be rescued, and supporting pet stores only perpetuates the cruel cycle of profiting off of innocent animals. Thankfully when we took our new dog to the vet today, he is perfectly healthy. However, our vet pointed out the fact that he received his vaccinations too closely together (time wise). Also, his vaccinations were not verified by a vet, and there were no stickers to prove he was vaccinated at all. We are starting from square one, and are very happy to do so, as we love him very much and we stand 100% behind saving him from that place. When I called Linda to see if she would reimburse me for one of the shots (since they have a 48-hour guarantee that they will cover any costs that come up at a vet check), Linda proceeded to tell me that the amount of time between shots is subjective, so therefore she would not reimburse for one of the shots. She disagrees that puppies need to have their vaccinations 3-4 weeks apart. I asked Linda where the puppies were vaccinated and seen by a vet. She refused to answer. When I gave her a call the next day (Sunday) to ask her again, she said that the breeder administers the shots. One of my fiancé's daughters pointed out that there were boar and sow guinea pigs in one cage, which... well, no need to go in to how completely ignorant and wrong that is. Male guinea pigs (father and brothers) should be separated from any females (whether it is the mother, sisters, offspring) at about three weeks. These guinea pigs were definitely older than that. I suppose Linda does not know that, or maybe she disagrees with that too? Not to mention, there was a dove in the back of the store in a tiny cage, pacing around. Was it a mistake giving Pet Village money? Of course. The only redeeming thing from this incident is we now have a loving, sweet, intelligent little boy who is a great companion for our other dog... he is also away from Pet Village and Linda. read more

Well, the proprietor Linda Price is about as heartless and detached as anybody can be when dealing with selling defenseless animals in order to keep her neck deep in coffee rolls and cinnamon buns. We bought a lovely Toy Poodle from her store, and it was a snake oil salesman at its best when she offered a shot record with no traceable veterinarian to account for the alleged three sets of vaccinations. There were no markings on the shot records except for dates. There were no taped on labels etc. Also the puppies are affiliated from the notoriously sketchy Continental Kennel Club (just look em up). There's no papers that truly trace the dog's lineage. Of the other animals, well there are mice crowded together in tanks, guinea pigs of both sexes mixed in one enclosure, a fat rabbit that stays in its little cage and its hotter than Hades in the store itself. All of this is endorsed by the brusque behavior of Linda Price, Miss Warmth herself. Her mannerism is one of cold detachment UNLESS you take out your credit card and she then transforms into a congenial tolerable person. She has zero regard for where her animals go. You can be the Jack the Ripper of dogs and off it will go as long as you are willing to pay the price. Any reputable dog breeder and their seller will ALWAYS care about their puppies. They will actually take into account the buyer's concerns instead of shrugging them off. If you want to do the animals of the world a favor, stop sinking money into these fronts for puppy mills. Adopt adopt adopt, there are hundreds of dogs put down every day in the Greater Charlotte area. We ended up keeping our dog after paying for a new set of shots. They have a poor dove that just paces back and forth in its little cage. The fact that they have been in business this long bespeaks to the sort of casual attitude toward animals in general in this state. Deplorable and insensitive. We took the dog as a mission of mercy to get it out of her store and into our nurturing home. He is a great companion to our dog acquired from York County Animal Shelter, a place that I am sure becomes the last stop for many of the dogs she has sold since 1977. read more

Since the 1980s, my family has purchased 5 puppies, numerous other pets, and lots of toys, gifts, food, and treats from Pet Village. For years I thought they were the only respectable pet store I knew of. But I'm finally done with them. I've taken my older dog to them several times for grooming, and took the puppy in for the first time recently. They don't listen to what you tell them and my dogs have come out with something wrong each time. This weekend the woman checking us in rolled her eyes and copped an attitude because she didn't think I'd had the puppy groomed early enough to suit her (suit her pocketbook, no doubt). Her irritation seemed to stem from the fact that it was a busy Saturday morning. In order to get in, you have to call ahead for a reservation, so she knew how many people were coming. If you don't want that much traffic, accept fewer reservations. The staff offers very poor customer service and frequently gives customers the impression that they are a nuisance. Due to poor customer service, rude behavior, and the fact that their groomers don't listen to or respect the wishes of the owners, I won't be doing further business with Pet Village. I'll take my money and my furbabies elsewhere for their care. read more

This pet grooming and boarding business provides a friendly atmosphere when a customer first walks in, but that is where the good ends. I've tried them twice. The first time I was barely satified with their grooming service only because I felt I may not have explained adequately enough what I wanted done. The second time I described in detail what I wanted done, but that was disregarded and they just did what they felt was best for my fur baby, and even that was poorly executed. With them being one of the most expensive groomers in Rock Hill one would think the customer's instruction and happiness would be paramount. But not only did they make me angry with total disregard of my instructions, but they then expected full payment. Needless to say that my pooch will never be put in their care again. The owner's reply is BS. I gave specific instructions to just trim his mane, blend the line at back of neck, clean up around his ears, and leave the hair on the back of his legs to one woman, but the job was done by another. All of that was cut way short, and I still had to cut a lot of long strands left behind when I got him home. It was a lousy job any way it's turned, and then they had the audacity to be angry and argumentative at me the customer when I expressed my displeasure. read more

Although they were old-fashioned, we liked the old pet Village. We were quite prepared to like the new one. The first thing they said when we went in is 'we are not a pet store.!' I hadn't even gotten a hello from the older lady at the desk first. When I was leaving after dropping off our puppy for his first cut, a young blonde helper came out the side of their boarding facility chasing a miniature Chihuahua and carrying a stick. . She chased the Chihuahua around the parking lot on the busy road and then across the street to the railroad tracks before finally catching him. As picked that Chihuahua up and brought it back in and I was wondering just how good of care they take of their dogs. Since we weren't boarding, I tried to trust them. Finally, we had been quoted one price for a puppy cut several times and when we went to pick him up they had doubled the price. We won't be going back. read more

Staff is not friendly and sometimes out right rude. I only go there when I'm deperate. Go to Last Place On Earth in Gastonia!

If i could leave 0 stars I would. Very RUDE ladies who obviously own this place. They treated me terrible and didn't even want to answer anything unless I wanted to buy one of there $700 puppies. Smells awful and animals are neglected and living in nasty cages. If I could take all the animals and take care of them myself I totally would. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN! All the owners care about is making money and I mean almost everything over-priced. How can these people sleep at night? A bird there looked pitiful, it had feathers missing like the other birds had attacked it. If it's still alive now I would be very surprised. I pray this place makes a huge change by getting different owners or gets shut down ASAP! read more

While they weren't overly friendly to me, they were awesome with my dog. They groomed her, bathed her, clipped her nails, and made her look and smell fresh and clean. While they have a good selection of dogs and provide you with a plethora of information, they are incredibly rude. One of the women, Linda, is so rude it's ridiculous. My roommate and I were looking to buy a puppy and we have been looking around, and we've been in a few times just to look at our options. Every time we go in we are glared at, spoken down to, and not treated as a customer. It's ridiculous. How can you run a business being so rude to potential customers? As much as we love the puppies I don't know if I can do business with such a hateful woman. I'll stick with the humane society. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!! I feel like a previous reviewer this place is not worthy of one star. When I walked in a customer was picking up their pet which was there getting groomed and the employee was explaining how the dog was injured under their care. The staff is EXTREMELY rude. There was a little ring up front with puppies in it. I picked up one of the puppies and one of the employees snatched the puppy out of my arms with so much force and stated in the nastiest tone... that dog is already sold. read more

No more pet village for me! I've taken my yorkie there for a haircut the last 3 times and all 3 times it was wrong. Nothing complicated just wanted my yorkie buzzed, no trimming or anything really just a buzz and a bath. After the lady was extremely rude to me when dropping off my dog this morning, and insisting on leaving the hair on my dogs head and tail long while shaving the rest, I told her the reason I have him there is because the hair on his face is so long he can't hardly see so the shorter the better because it won't take long to grow back, after I finally got her to somewhat understand what I wanted then my wife goes to pick him up and she left his face and tail long, which is exactly what she did the 2 times before that. I don't know why she thinks everyone wants their small dogs cut that way, I had to shave him myself after I got him home and I didn't want to make a scene in her store so I figured I'd come on here and leave a bad review. It's a waste of $40, they are very rude and do not listen to the costumers instructions. read more

Hello, I have been a Rock Hill-ian for twenty-eight short years and I have known this cozy little pet store since I've been here. It is a small local pet shop that sells fish, birds, ferrets, small rodents, rabbits, and reptiles. The puppies always look healthy and happy and the cages are kept very neat and clean. Without Pet Village in Rock Hill, I wouldn't have my two awesome pet ferrets. Their merchandise is a little pricey for me, but otherwise they are great! read more

Had a horrible experience, it had nothing to do with the owners, I bought a Shetland Sheepdog for 500.00 for my husband for Christmas and even bought the dog food there...was in love with this puppy, 3 weeks after having our puppy he started having seizures, took him to the vet and he seemed fine there, they sent me home, they ran all kinds of test which cost me money too...After a full day home from the vet on Thanksgiving day at 6:45 a.m. he started having seizures again, by 7:45 a.m. he had another one, by that time the vet which was closed for the holiday had called me back, we rushed him down there and he had another one while the vet was checking him out, they kept him overnight and he continued to have seizures, they kept him and ran more test on him and by Saturday , 3 days after his initial visit, the vet had diagnosed him with a liver shunt, which was the cause of the mother dog...He could have had surgery but the vet did not recommend it due to he would be have seizure the rest of his life and the meds were very exspensive. After talking to him about what was suppose to be a gift for my husband , we came to the conclusion that he would be better off put to sleep...BROKE MY HEART...I called the store and told her what had happened and she called the breeder, my money was refunded but still I have a 600.00 vet bill that has to be paid....I called the breeder and she told me that she does not pay vet bills and in all reality that they normally don't refund on dogs...Now that is what I call doing bad business...not only do I have to pay the vet bill , but I don't have a puppy anymore to show for it...I AM REALLY HURT AND DISSAPOINTED. The picture of my profile is of my beautiful baby boy...I miss him so much , even though I only had him 3 weeks...If anyone has any suggestions on how to get the breeder to pay the vet bill, please let me know...I have already called the Magistrates office and will be filing papers... read more
