Pretty good experience here. We actually came in on a Sunday afternoon to complete our dog adoption. The store was slammed. Lots of customers and people milling about training their dogs. I wish we had been in and out quickly, but not on this day. After our dog adoption was complete, I had several things to buy. All good there and several items were on sale, or we had coupons. Very good customer service. 4/5 stars because we were out of the parking lot before I realized I had been charged for 2 bags of dog food. I returned to the store because it was $20. Rather than wait for a refund, I just grabbed another bag of what I had been charged twice for. The cashier was very apologetic and even seemed a little embarrassed. Visit Petsmart during the week - unless you don't mind shopping around lots of other customers and experiencing long lines. read more

UPDATE: We just found out that we can get the bath package with nail trim for our dogs for about the same price as it is to just get their nails done - game changer. I'm not sure that'll be true for everyone as I think the bath price takes size and coat into consideration. (Also, they mentioned an upcharge for grooming appointments Friday-Sunday.) Anywho, I called in the morning and they were able to sneak us in for back-to-back appointments that afternoon. As we arrived, we noticed their names were on the salon board out front. Celeb status! We dropped the dogs off and two hours later were called back to the store for pickup. Our babies came back to us soft and sleek, smelling like oranges, and rocking a cool new bandana. We weren't as pleased with their mani/pedis, but that's a shape preference more than anything. Some of the ladies are better at pawdicures than others, oh well. It was great not to have to wrestle the dogs into the tub and then watch everything in my house become one big towel for them lol. The bath service turned out to be super convenient and affordable for us. We're already looking forward to our next visit! -------- We pretty much only come here to get our dogs' nails done. I loved my PetSmart in Arkansas, but this location is slim pickins as far as treats and doesn't run nearly as many deals on toys. Since we only do the pawdicure, it's considered a walk-in (cannot he booked online, as far as I can tell) though there isn't usually much of a wait so we can do both dogs fairly quickly. The pawdicure service for $20 includes a nail trim/grind and cleaning of the ears. The "menu" says it also includes bandana and scented spray and while I don't want either, I've never been offered. By now, my dogs have hassled every tech in the salon and still came out with pretty nails. These ladies are patient and thorough and as far as I can tell, the nicest people in the store. So, 4 stars because I love the grooming salon staff and might just be too picky about the other stuff lol. They just don't have the selection of natural treats I'm looking for and I can get my tough toys cheaper online elsewhere. read more

I went to PetSmart with my black lab to try to find another leash for her and it was not busy at all inside and I tried to ask for help and nobody seemed to be able to help me. I found the leashes and got my dog a new leash. They have a great selection of dog supplies; however, the prices were a little overpriced. It is nice though that they allow pets inside. read more

If i could give them a Zero i would. On Friday the 28th of March I went and got 5 Cichlids from PetSmart at this location. The lady asked me how big of a tank I had and if I was going to be taking care of them well. Understandable. But They didn't even bother telling me the fish I were purchasing which ended up being around $120 total. That they were SICK! Apparently there is an outbreak of Ich, which is a huge thing to miss especially since the fish I were purchasing were not cheap at all. I've been told at times that I cannot buy fish due to water changes but when they have parasites it goes unknown to the customers. Sickening honestly. Another lady on the 30th on the other hand was very nice and apologized and said that they were supposed to tell me about them having the sickness. So now I had to purchase 50$ worth of treatment solutions and I'm hoping for the best. read more

I got a bird from here it died in three weeks I did everything right but it still died

if there was an option to give a zero that would be what I select! I placed an order through Petsmart to be delivered by doordash. When I received my order two of my items were missing and i was given two of the wrong items. When calling the store let them know about the issue as this is a standard customer complaint I was told that it's doordash's fault for your items being messed up. first of all excuse me they are not the ones filling my order and giving the items they just deliver it. sure they may have taken two of my items but they are not then reason I got two of the wrong things. Therefore the purpose of me not having to physically go into the store to get my items is now not happening as I have to go in to correct the mistakes that an employee at this pet smart made. highly dissatisfied with experience and will be driving to the opposite side of town to go to the other pet smart. what kind of operation are they running at this store? Maybe double check orders before you finish filling them. this is pathetic. read more

Today, I took my Coonhound, Belle, to the salon to get a bath. I received a call about 20 minutes after I dropped her off, saying that while they were drying her, they found a puncture wound and it was bleeding pretty good. They offered to take Belle to the vet, or I could come pick her up and I could take her myself. I chose to go get her and take her myself. When I got there, I told the groomers that I had no idea if she came to the salon with it and was from my new pup that just came into the family a week ago, or if it happened there at the salon. The general manager told me to bring the vet bill to the store and they would take care of it. Also, they didn't charge me for her bath. We went to the vet and Belle received two staples and she has to wear a plastic cone around her head. We went back to the store with the bill, which was $96, and they paid me in cash. Every time I have been to that store, they have been nothing but great. Thanks, PetSmart, for being so awesome! read more

I have decided to update this review to OK. Petsmart recently ran an ad which was a fiasco. Store-printed notes tried to clarify the ad but only added to the confusion. As one cashier said today "There were SO many problems with that ad" The day I went in, I encountered a less-than-helpful manager and a cashier that seemed a little flippant. I wrote a stern memo to the corporate office via the website and blasted them about their customer service. The corporate office contacted me back and the issue was resolved to my satisfaction. I got the ad price and what appeared to have been on sale at the time. The manager I met with today, as well as the cashier, were outstanding in their customer service skills. They understand that you might have to lose a couple of dollars of profilt as a goodwill gesture when the corporation makes a bad advertising error. I am guardedly optimistic that Petsmart does care about my business because they were willing to make good on a misleading ad. We'll see how it goes from here. Just be advised that this corporation will try to make things right should you have to be assertive. Just be professional. read more

Stopped in the other week to find a cover for my Petsafe automatic litter box. They had a whole shelf of them. Came back today to buy one and they was all gone. Oh well I'll ask if they have some in the back. Yeah right if I could find someone to ask! Went to the check out and seen 4 store employees standing around. I asked one for help. That was the wrong thing to do. I got every excuse in the book.. We don't carry that to if it's not on the shelf we don't have it to it's something you have to order. This pet store has just about everything for casual pet owners as well as those who like to be a little more hands on with their furry (or finned or feathered) friends. If you want to try your hand at grooming, there is a good selection of grooming supplies on the back aisle that ranges from brushes to professional clippers and blades. If you'd rather have a professional take care of hair cuts for you, there's a full-service grooming salon at the back of the store. Likewise, there are plenty of training aides and books available if you want to try your own hand at obedience training. If you don't, the store offers classes for you and your pet -- and will even offer one-on-one sessions for a little extra money. Although the store sells no puppies or kittens, it has partnered with local humane shelters to offer (mostly adult) pets for adoption. There is a nice selection of fish and tanks, and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I've had great results with all of the fish and living plants that I've purchased here. The staff, in general, is fairly knowledgeable about most departments with the exception of birds. When I was considering purchasing a Conure, there wasn't much help from staff members concerning a specific bird that was on site. The bird looked fine and appeared to be well-cared for, but the staff didn't seem to know answers to basic questions about general behavior and history. The best part about shopping at Petsmart is that you can bring your pet shopping with you -- provided he/she is on a leash and vaccinated. read more

I go here for my dog quite a bit, they have a large selection of pet toys and food here, they have a groomer and you can bring your dog in here and they have a little trainning area for you and your dog(s). The staff is kind and friendly and will help with whatever questions you have. read more

I've since found another groomer, which isn't as convenient as Petsmart was but they really need to hire some more staff. So took gunny in to petsmart to get him groomed on Monday- his eyes are naturally a little goopy just because he's a Persian and that's how they are. I noticed his eye steadily getting worse for the past couple days and today I woke up and he could barely open it and it was filled with pus. So not only did I have to spend $50 to get him groomed- let's add another $80 on top of that for vet bills. He has a massive infection in his left eye. The vet said he can't prove it came from him getting groomed at petsmart but he said it more than likely is. I have no doubt in my mind that it is as he was fine before hand. The manager at the salon at petsmart said that they take great measures to make sure that their salon is clean, and I don't doubt that. But it doesn't mean that something can't happen, because clearly it did. I'm mad as hell that my baby is in pain, and I won't be returning to petsmart ever again. read more

Went in this morning looking for some pretty normal cat supplies, and also to see if they've got any treats for cats with kidney disease, as that's what my vet advised. After wandering around hoping to find an associate to speak with, I found no one. So I made my way up to the registers hoping I could ask at the register and get an answer. Well. When I got to the register, there was one employee on one register, and another employee standing in the middle of the aisle by the register with a cart full of goods. I walked up, thinking someone would notice me and that I'd be served. There was not a transaction in process, this employee was not doing any work, just blocking an open register. Finally the woman working the register waved me down, as though it were obvious she was trying to help me while I can't get up to the register and she's actively carrying on a conversation with another employee. She proceeded to bark things at me while I checking out while she maintained a conversation with the other employee. Sorry that I made you do the bare minimum of work while you're being paid to "help" me. Sound like I dealt with two teenagers? Think again, these women were both well past 60. Why even work a job if you're going to be mad about having to do anything at all? read more

I've taken my dog there to get groomed plenty of times and each time it has gotten progressively worse. Many times she has not gotten a few things that were included in the package that I've picked and payed for (teeth brushing, bandana, nails trimmed, etc. Not a huge deal but still annoying), they've turned me away for walk-ins even though they had over 2 hours until close and there weren't any other dogs in the salon, and now recently the customer service in the grooming area has been horrible! They called me twice in a max of a 10 minute time frame to come pick her up and told me that I needed to be there immediately and that I should've already been there. As many of you know, the construction around the mall is a mess and the traffic is horrible so it takes a little longer than usual to get there. Once we got there (it had only been a max of 10 minutes from the first call I received) they had the store manager waiting to tell me that I needed to be there right when they called me... and all of the groomers were standing there GLARING AT ME! I felt very uncomfortable and I'm really hoping that had no affect on the way they treated my pup. VERY disappointed. read more

We had been taking dogs here for grooming. After the last appointment we scheduled the next, and they gave us the reminder cards. When we brought them in to the appointment today, they said it wasn't in their books and they must not have written it down. Even though we have the cards to prove we were supposed to have appointments, they turned us away and said they didn't have any openings for another week. There were no offers for a discount in the future for the inconvenience that was obviously their fault. Not good customer service. Will not be returning. read more

I approached some people and ask for Service in the aquarium there was a gentleman two ladies standing talking she said in one moment I went back to the aquarium slated another customer. When she walked around the corner she asked the other customer what she needed instead of approaching me which had been standing there for a longer period of time and then the other lady wanted a lot of different fish so she proceeded to help her.When the other blonde lady actually came up to help after I had to request help again she was very curt and displeasing to work with she actually told us at the fish we were purchasing could not be used in the tank that we wanted to use it in so I told her it was for a larger tank she did proceed to go to the register and make sure that the lady put on the receipt that the 14 day was voided that we could not return the fish first off I would never return the fish I'm not that stupid. My husband and I went in looking for some flea and tick medicine for both our 5 cats and dog and were helped by an associate/manager.He was very helpful in helping us with our decisions on what to purchase and told us if we weren't happy with the results to bring back unused products and receipt and would be refunded the amount.We purchased a 2pk of the advantix 2 for our dog and a 6 pk of cat MD which neither product worked like the products claims.The fleas seemed to be worse than we started with,so we took the unused products with receipt back to store for refund/ different product and they looked at us like why are you bringing this back and refused to refund after we were told they would, they said it was because they were used, well how else were we to know they didnt work.I was very disappointed in the products for the very expensive price we paid and to be lied to by a manager.I will not be back to purchase anymore petmeds or anything else for that matter from petsmart for being treated like this.I wish I could give this a zero rating but because I have to give something to post they get a 1!!! read more

I brought my little angel to get pampered and was extremely disappointed in my poodles grooming by a person named Sarah. I immediately felt things were going to go wrong when I saw the girl and she had hooker make-up, dreadlocks, and looked like she hadn't washed her make-up off since she had been partying the night before. Having taken my baby to high-class puppy salons in the past maybe my expectations were un-reasonable but realistically I could have done a better job myself. I might try there again but would definately not recommend Sarah. Management, review your workers. read more

Boycott PET SMART in Cedar Rapids! I tried to exchange a bag of dog food got big bites, needed small bites for the old dog. I had the receipt! Well I had bought two bags on that day Buy One get One, but the other bag was the correct small bites. They insisted I needed to bring back both bags! So I went home got the second bag brought it back! They did not want to exchange them and accused me of stealing them! I had walked into the store with both AND had the reciept showing BOTH! I got told nasty by the nasty female manager KYLIE that I should leave. She then started pushing me out of the store physically chasing me to the car calling the cops telling them I was stealing! So we left and a few blocks later get pulled over; we wait forever while police go and look at the video tape at the store. Cop checks my receipt and the #'s on the bags are on the receipt PAID FOR! They finally watch the video and CLEAR ME! But now I am banned from Pet Smart cuz they wrongfully accused me of stealing! I spent thousands there over the years and I get racially profiled and accused of stealing ... a faithful customer like me now going to PetCo! read more

I have been a longtime customer of the grooming salon until now. I took my 3 shih Tzus in for a groom and brought home 3 half groomed dogs who were a big mess. One of the groomers suspected one of my dogs had worms and they freaked and refused to finish the grooms on all 3 dogs! They were rude and offered no solution as to how to get my pets finished. Only seemed interested in going home. I will be looking for a new salon that hires professionals, not a bunch of kids. read more

Grooming- Near Christmas and grooming was busy,BUT I was not checked in at all and was asked to wait to get nails trimmed and ground. The session started with the head of grooming dept saying that sense one of my cockapoos looked like a Cocker Spaniel that he had to be mussled. My dogs have never been musseled. My other Cockapoo is older and does not look like a Cocker spaniel, she was OK and didnt need a mussel according to Head Groomer. One of the groomers took the older dog back and started trimming nails while another groomer started the checkin process. Since I was not checked in and they did not check records until after vet office was closed. The shots both dogs needed were up to date but not in the Petsmart file and Vet closed. The head groomer ordered the groomer working on my older dog to stop and get the dog off the table. Then she proceeded to yell from back of store that it was my responsibility to have records faxed or bring a copy of the records I had at home. I understand shots need to be up to date before grooming, but the head groomer was very rude and out of line. She was more concerned about the Christmas party coming up 6 hours later. Petsmart procedures were not followed by starting work without checkin and when I called before going in to see if they were too busy to trim nails, they could have mentioned bringing a copy of shot records. In addition, if proper checkin was done when I arrived, the Vet office was open or they could have told me records were not updated and I could have gone home and made a copy. I have gone to Petsmart for YEARS and have not had any issues. This one person (head Groomer) has me on a search for somewhere else to go for grooming. OMG. Horrible customer service. The first time I was there buying tropical fish and the service was a bit slow but the young lady who eventually helped me was polite and friendly. My second time there I couldn't get anyone to even acknowledge me, so I hung around the tropical fish service desk for 5 minutes or so and left. Today -- back to shop for fish again and no one in the tropical fish area. No surprise. I got in line at a check out and asked the clerk to get someone over to help me. She did make an announcement so I went back and waited a full 10 minutes but no one showed up. The two checkers were visiting when I finally walked out of the store and didn't even glance my way. They have a convenient location but over-priced merchandise and poor customer service. This is a type of retailer that complains about losing sales to on-line companies but hasn't a clue that they offer ZERO value-added services. RIP. read more

BAD SERVICE AND INSTRUCTION: We purchased 2 leopard geckos for my daughter's birthday. The employee that helped us gave us instructions to keep the whole tank at 100 degrees and 30 percent humidtiy (this is WRONG - they need to bask, but the whole tank should not be that hot and the humidity should be at least 50 percent). She also told us we didn't have to worry about parasites and that these lizards were 6 months old. 5 weeks later, we had to take them to the vet, was told they were less than 5 months old and they would probably die from dehydration and parasites. My daughter did her best to nurse them back to health, but they were too far gone. When I talked to the Manager, she told me they only provide a 2 week warranty. Even though we were given incorrect advice that directly led to the death of our pets, the Manager did not offer any refund, repeatedly stating they have a 2 week policy. I don't remember the exact amount we paid for the lizards, but I know it was under $80. We used to spend $20 - $60 a month (we have lots of pets) at PetSmart, but we will not purchase anything from PetSmart again and I will readily share this horror story with anyone that will listen! There is at least 1 better store in Cedar Rapids! read more
