I love to watch the cameras of the dogs playing and the staff send pictures at the end of each day. (These are also posted to their social media, so it's fun to try to spot my dog lol.) Since the dogs don't have any stimulation to occupy themselves, many high energy dogs would become aggressive to others. These dog owners were notified their dog was not compatible with others, when in fact their dog was just bored. If you were to tour the facility, you will find two separate play areas, no toys or things for them to climb on. You'll also find a smaller outdoor enclosure, with a child's playhouse. Again, nothing for the dogs to play with. I also witnessed breed discrimination, labeling a pit as aggressive when he was only defending himself. These people have no clue what they're doing!

Rather than wait for a refund, I just grabbed another bag of what I had been charged twice for. The cashier was very apologetic and even seemed a little embarrassed. We dropped the dogs off and two hours later were called back to the store for pickup. Our babies came back to us soft and sleek, smelling like oranges, and rocking a cool new bandana. We weren't as pleased with their mani/pedis, but that's a shape preference more than anything. Some of the ladies are better at pawdicures than others, oh well. It was great not to have to wrestle the dogs into the tub and then watch everything in my house become one big towel for them lol. I loved my PetSmart in Arkansas, but this location is slim pickins as far as treats and doesn't run nearly as many deals on toys. Since we only do the pawdicure, it's considered a walk-in (cannot he booked online, as far as I can tell) though there isn't usually much of a wait so we can do both dogs fairly quickly. The pawdicure service for $20 includes a nail trim/grind and cleaning of the ears. The "menu" says it also includes bandana and scented spray and while I don't want either, I've never been offered. By now, my dogs have hassled every tech in the salon and still came out with pretty nails. These ladies are patient and thorough and as far as I can tell, the nicest people in the store. So, 4 stars because I love the grooming salon staff and might just be too picky about the other stuff lol. They just don't have the selection of natural treats I'm looking for and I can get my tough toys cheaper online elsewhere.

My bulldog has a tricky skin condition, and I have been to several local vets with no luck. My…read morecurrent vet recommended a dedicated dermatologist, which was quite far - almost 2 hours from us. We drove there and got a estimate - $4,000 to put my dog under, take 4 skin samples. We could only take my dog there one day a week, it was their procedure day, so I would have to take a day off work (unpaid, I am a contractor). This place was already giving me the ick a bit because it was so crazy expensive and they were kinda condescending when we talked to them, but my vet pushed for it. They suggested she might have alopecia and also some bacterial thing, and they could give us something for the bacterial thing, but we need the procedure to find out for sure. Note: they didn't ever give us anything for the bacterial thing. $205 for that already questionable service should have been read flag #2. The day of, we get there, and they decide that my dog is too excited, having a hard time breathing, and they refused to work on her. To be clear, I don't have a problem with them making that call if they felt they could not work on her safely, but they kept (again, kinda condescendingly) explaining how bulldog breathing worked. Yes, I am aware - and so should you have been! You saw her once already! The suggested they could give us some medication to calm her down and we could bring her back. Why didn't they suggest this before we came the first time? Again, this was her second visit. I wound up just leaving - there were no other alternatives really offered. I missed a day of work and lost hundreds of dollars of pay plus $40 in gas to accomplish literally nothing. I do not recommend.

Upon arrival they were waiting for us, Houston was taken back and prepped for pain and euthanasia medicine. I have one small complaint, my dog was within minutes of dying. I felt like payment had to go thru first..before we were moved to the euthanasia room. Business is Business..i was also emotional so this is subjective.. the doctor was amazing and very compassionate he explained every step of what this procedure entails. They gave us ample amount of time with Houston after his passing. I picked up Houstons remains less than a week later. Again very compassionate. Today I received a sympathy card in the mail from blue pearl. Not being from CR and needing an emergency vet .. Another time I had driven to the old location out of habit before realizing my error and turning around. I had gotten to the new location just as they were closing up shop for the night. Maybe this will get your attention…read more I've never posted something like this about a local business, typically I'd have a conversation with said business in private- however, do NOT take your pets to: Gwen's Pet Grooming Inc. - Cedar Rapids I wanted to share our recent experience with Gwen's Pet Grooming who we were referred to for our 2.5-year-old, 7lb Pomeranian. When we picked her up, they made us pay before handing her over. Right after, they casually mentioned, "Sorry, we accidentally gave her brush burn. We didn't do the Teddy Bear cut because there are different variations, but next time we'll get it right...oh and she has sores all over her back from the burn" My husband immediately requested to be refunded and asked to speak to the owner, but we weren't refunded, and the owner hasn't called. Our dog was starting to show signs of distressed, so we decided to leave so we could assess her and take appropriate next steps. We have been able to assess her and found she has red spots all over her back and at least four open wounds that are still bleeding and dried blood on her back where she had been bleeding. The parts that are open and bleeding she won't let us get picture's because yelps and tries to nip at us when we touch her near those areas- which is so out of character for her. *She lets us get a good look at them at first, we did have to hold her down because she was yelping* We're now taking her to the vet to get checked out. I really regret not doing more research before trusting this place. Be careful where you take your pets- even if it's a referral from a friend. The pictures are of the red marks that aren't open wounds- if, and IF this is "brush burn" they had to have been incredibly forceful on a 7lb dog. I'm sure I'll be blocked by Qwens within the hour, that seems to be the way she rolls instead of dealing with situations head on.
