Before doing so, I visited the kennel and outdoor area and met a few of the staff. This isn't some Miami Beach pet spa, this is animal boarding in Iowa. We have found our boys to be well cared for, and the staff to be quite kind. HAFH is affordable, and I also like that this location is attached to a veterinary clinic, so should there be an issue, care is well within reach. I leave this review as I prepare to book them again for this weekend.

My dog is strong, independent, stout, loud, woman. haha. She can take a bit to warm up to strangers. Normally, if I have to go somewhere, I keep her with family. I recently moved to the area and no one was available to watch her when I had to leave on short notice. I took a chance with boarding a facility and I've used it ever since! The staff is pleasant, engaged, and seems to really take to my dog. They even have kept her in the front office with them while they work alone for kicks! They remembered her from our first stay, and always seem happy to have her back. In one instance, they had some extra suites so they gave her one since no one was using it (at not extra cost). They are always quick to respond and will try to make things comfortable for our pup but also are flexible on pick-up/drop-off in a pinch. I am sorry for others that have had poor experiences, but I am not one of them. My partner and I have used them now 3 or 4 times with great results and have decided to use them fully in the future.

They're a bit far, so we don't drop them off for short periods, but they've always taken the best care of our dogs while gone for extended periods. They've always given our meals to our dogs despite being more complicated than other dogs normally get. As long as they stay around, we'll always bring them here. And their Instagram stories show us how much fun our dogs are having while we're away. Always kindness from the hosts and good treatment to all.

Here at pooch palace they book maybe 2-3 months out, but have a fantastic place they are happy to show you. Dogs (multiple pups from the same family) can share a bedroom with a theme. Dogs must be approved and have a complimentary day beforehand. Some reasons we love here: 1. Someone is there 24/7. 2. No kennels. We do bring their beds and a couple favorite toys and food. You could do daycare or a longer stay. 3. They keep up on Instagram 5 days a week so you can see your pups! 4. They are very responsive. Of course I was nervous as it was the pups first time away from us for a week, so I called and even if they didn't answer right away they call back very soon. 5. Pups go outside a lot as weather allows. There are plenty of trees and dogs are divided into small and big dog areas. Ours became friends with a bull dog. 6. They do dog report cards. Only pups with all green marks can stay during the smaller amount of pups holiday times. Our alpha had a couple yellow marks as she can be loud on the playground! I'm glad they let us know. We love this place and will forever use them!

Bounding Hound is the absolute best training facility/daycare!! It doesn't have the atmosphere of…read moreconstant chaos like some daycares; they train the dogs to modify behavior during their stay to create a more controlled and safe environment. For example, they train the dogs to calm down after the doorbell rings when you go to pick up your dog. The dogs still get to play and have fun, but things never get out of control or too loud! My dog is always so excited to walk in when I drop her off! And while she's gone I get picture and video updates of her stay, and, sometimes, they even send her home with a goody bag. Another unique feature- someone is always there even for overnight stays (no unsupervised kenneling overnight!). BH also offers grooming. My dog used to have anxiety about being groomed from a previous bad experience. Loren had the patience to work with her and, over time, got her to the point where not only was she not afraid, but he didn't even need to use any of the usual restraints that most groomers always use. I am so grateful to have had this daycare for my dog, and I will miss them a lot now that I have to move away from IC. Once Loren heard I was moving, he even offered to help me find a new facility for my dog in our new city. He took the time to call other facilities and let me know which he thought was best. This really shows how much he cares about me and my dog even after we no longer will be regular clients for BH. BH really goes above and beyond to help your dog develop good behaviors and give them a safe and fun environment for their stays!

My son and his wife got Daisy a few months ago. She had been through a lot, and had a lot of anxiety. They adopted her at the beginning of shelter-in-place during the pandemic. This was great, because it helped Daisy to spend lots of time with her pack (and extended pack!). They are both back to work and faced a huge decision--leave her home alone (which she didn't tolerate well at all) or consider a doggy day care option. We found Bounding Hounds and I can unequivocally say that you can't find a better place for your dog. They are all incredibly knowledgeable and they care about YOUR dog. The owner, Loren, is incredible. After her second day, he spent time talking to us about how to work with her at home to reinforce some of what they have been doing with her. I am a psychologist--his recommendations were so spot on. Here is the kicker--remember, this dog is a "nervous Nellie"--when we dropped her off, as soon as they opened the gate, she SPRINTED off and never looked back! She was so happy to see us--but at the same time, tried to follow Loren back inside. The fact that she is so happy there speaks VOLUMES to me. Finding a place for your dog is like taking your child to daycare---it is so hard to do. Talk to them. These guys are incredible. You won't regret it!
