After going here for many years I was so disappointed to see that now that my dog has cancer they no longer want to groom him. He's such a sweet boy and drools so he definitely needs to be groomed so he doesn't get infection. Unfortunately they have no Compassion for senior dogs or dogs with cancer. Very nice employees but the biggest pisser is that the hours listed on Yelp are different than the real ones. I showed up at 9 am Sunday morning when Yelp said they opened but was greeted by an empty store and a sign saying they open at 10. My lab needed a nail grinding ASAP! The grooming department doesn't take appointments for nail trimming and grinding, it's a walk in service. I called them in the afternoon and asked how long the wait was and they told me there were four dogs in front of us. The staff informed me that it gets less busy as the day gets later. They said the latest I could bring my dog in is 5:30pm. My husband brought the dog around 5pm and he was seen in a fair amount of time. Now there's no more click clack on our laminate floors! Ps make sure you have your dogs vaccinations ready. I had our vet email me the vaccination and showed the email to the groomers. read more

This is the absolute WORST LOCATION ever for PETSMART. The staff are some of the worst I've ever dealt with in customer service. They're extremely RUDE, Unknowledgeable about dog food, and absolutely cannot get their act together when it comes to honoring the company's "price match guarantee". Every time I bring in a price match to them, they don't honor it. It's from another website. An ACTUAL website. Not a screenshot. Absolutely HORRIBLE. I live 5 minutes from this location but will now drive 20 minutes away to another just to not deal with the incompetency of the entire staff at this store. It's not just one person. I have taken my pup here a few times to get her groomed. I make my appointments a week out always to work with my work schedule as i don't work local. I would say i have taken her 5 times and THREE out of the 5 times i have had issues. Two times they call me the night before and cancel with some lame ass excuse. One time i went in there and they didn't have us on the schedule. When i showed them my email confirmation of the appointment i basically got a "well we can't help you" i get a "well we can get you in Tuesday" i obviously make my appointment for what works for my schedule... Tuesday's do not. I've never been so annoyed with a place. Never will i take her back there again! read more

We love this location! All the staff are super friendly making this neighborhood PetSmart the best in our area! It doesn't feel like the uptight corporate pet store, it has a small town kind of feel with all the great products and always very CLEAN. The location is great, just around the corner from our home and near all major supermarkets with plenty of parking so rarely is there a traffic jam getting out of the parking lot. They are never super busy making this place ideal for shopping and restocking. I'm in an out within minutes. I've tired other PetSmart locations in the surrounding area but they don't compare to this one. The customer service, Grooming Dept and cleanliness of the store is Superb. For being a relatively new store, I was quite impressed with the amount of knowledgable staff they had on board. We fell in love with our groomer Lorraine. She is by far the best groomer I've had since moving to Sacramento 2 years ago. My 6 yr old Yorkie, Molly loves Lorraine. Molly gets spoiled by her with special attention and care. Lorraine is very self aware when handling Molly, she knows her likes and dislikes and we trust her 100%! We highly recommend Lorraine and this location to anyone who's looking for a new groomer or a new neighborhood pet store. read more

I have a senior Pomeranian with age related health issues that cause a myriad of skin problems, amongst other things. I started taking him here to be groomed after I moved to the area and had previously had years of good service at the Elk Grove store. All of the groomers (namely Lorraine and Jessica) have been more than courteous, patient, professional, kind and prompt. I feel safe and secure when dropping my dog off for a bath and brushout. I really like that this location is half the size of the EG one. It gives it a more cozy atmosphere and I feel better knowing the groomers don't have so many dogs on their hands since there is half the staff, as my dog gets pretty anxious being separated from me. They've always gotten my dog out even before their ETA, which is amazing. The store itself is always clean and the other cashiers are pretty nice, too. I will continue to visit here as long as I am in the area. read more

I'm so angry. I don't know if I should be upset with pet smart or the dog food company. I spend $60 on my dog food just to get it home and realize it's been opened already. Half of it is now in the street in front of my house. These bags have a thick plastic piece that needs to be torn of to open. Would not recommend this place for a nail trim! The girl had a horrible attitude from the start was not friendly to me or my scared pup. She was more concerned with the fact she couldn't take her lunch right then and seemed to not be in a good mood or care about how she treated my dog. She brought him back and was annoyed with the fact he peed on her. I understand grooming isn't an easy job but if you work with animals be caring and kind. My dog has never had any issues with nail trims before and now he is terrified. Luckily the wonderful lady checking my boyfriend and I out witnessed the unkind behavior she gave my dog and Us and didn't charge us for the service. I will gladly pay extra at the vet so my poor pup will never have to go through that again. read more

Ok to be fair I really appreciate good customer service, all of my successful jobs have come from being the best choice to help my clients. So I'm sensitive to it. Today was a huge miss for Pet Smart. Let's begin with the phone call. I called at 11 am asking about price and availability for my two small dogs. (17 pounds and 30 pounds(smallish)). Before answering any of my questions they started asking me for personal information, name, phone, dogs ages and such. I understand the query on dog size but everything else can be answered with out all the personal info. And I sure as heck don't need another profile anywhere. She explained that without having the profile she could not set appointments. So I gave in. She quoted $47 for small poodle mix and $53 for larger poodle mix. Both are rescues so not quite sure of what all is mixed in but our vet says Bichon poodle and cocker poodle. And get this they have time today. At 1 pm great I said. Literally it loud I said "great". So I took both dogs and walked over ( we live a few blocks away). When I got there, I was attacked by associate (je--ie). Do you need help is what she asked. When you first walk in it looks like the grooming salon is on the right, but it was EMPTY. So I asked if this was the grooming salon and she replied yes we have groomers do you need one? I told her about my appointment ( realizing of course that they did NOT need a profile to tell me they had an opening today) She looked me up in the system and said " that is not a bichon-poodle so the price is higher. And then "since you don't brush your dog she is going to be $75. Don't brush my dog? Really she did not even ask me. I was then told that because her hair is so matted it was going to be even more and I had to sign a wavier suggesting that I had to be responsible or any errors that she made while shaving the dog. She even tried to tell me that my dog probably has a skin disease. She was not matted long and curly yes but not matted. We rescued her from a family that was living out of a car, so when we fort got her 3months ago yes she was matted. Anyway, When she went down to get Sophie, She commented again on how I don't take care of my dog. She took Sophie to the back and brought out the wavier. At this point I told her to bring my dog back I was not going to stay. She said she doesn't understand. That does not surprise me. She either does not know how to speak with clients or she does know and does not care, there cannot be another explanation. With the zero amount of dogs in the Geronimo department, I believe that my expectations of wanting to grow the business would be necessitate better and enthusiastic service. I mean you should like dogs in that job. Maybe I'm off base on that one. . I refuse to spend money with rude employees at anytime, but in today's great economy there are so many other choices for dog grooming. So I left. I normally purchase these items through my veterinarian's office but due to the fact I need to update & pay for their annual check up, I had to get something until their scheduled appointments later this month. Both Stephanie & Lorraine greeted me and were both very friendly & professional. Lorraine made a suggestion I would have overlooked which I really appreciated. She said that PetSmart price matches any items in the store. I was able to save a couple bucks by finding a lower price online . When you have multiple dogs, it makes a difference. The groomer called me and told me my mini schnauzer was being aggressive when she was brushing him which is a HUGE red flag because he has NEVER been aggressive in his whole life. ZERO rating. The manager at the Madison Avenue location set me up with their "best" groomer. When I got to my 8 a.m. appointment, they made me wait until 8:45 because that's when they had my dog booked - not at 8. This supposedly best groomer argued with me that my puppy was not part Yorkie (that he was a Chihuahua) and when I went back to pick him up, she had shaved all of his fur down to the skin, INCLUDING HIS WHISKERS (down to the nub). He looked adorable but when I took him to the vet a week later, their staff was shocked that he had no whiskers. That's when I learned dog's whiskers are their feelers. Now I feel HORRIBLE for my puppy and I'm warning everyone to never ever let PetSmart groom your dog; unless you don't care if your dog walks out with no whiskers/feelers. read more

I've taken my dog here for his yearly summer cut and foot trimming throughout the year for 4-5 years. I've always been happy until now. My dog's summer cut is uneven and has ridges. There are places on his legs where the skin shows through. It looks like a 10 year old did the job without supervision. Unfortunately I wasn't the family member who picked him up. Yesterday morning, we decided to take on a new family member and adopted a dog from the Sacramento SPCA - and ended up with a 138 lb, 1.5-year-old Mastiff named Bubba! Now, being as Bubba was a slightly impulsive decision (we knew we wanted a dog, didn't know we'd get one that exact day), we had no supplies outside of the leash and the 2 lb bag of food the shelter gave us. This PetSmart is the closest one to our home, so we headed there straight after the shelter with or new friend in tow! Andrew was super awesome at helping us maneuver things while we had this huge dog in the store! He carried a massive crate up the front for us and when it came time for checkout, he gave us SO MANY COUPONS as a congrats for getting a new dog, and even gave us the entire coupon book to take home so that we'd have them for later if we realized we needed anything else. A crate, a bed, a 40lb bag of food, bowls, a leash, a harness, treats, a dog tag, and a couple of toys came to about $400 thanks to Andrew scanning literally every coupon he could in the book that would apply to what we got! Big thanks to him on a successful trip on getting everything we needed for our new boy! read more

This store seems smaller than other PetSmart locations (for example, the Citrus Heights location) by which I notice mainly that it lacks the huge aquarium sections I thought were staples at PetSmart. That's generally been my experience with PetSmart: it has better selections of aquatic and small animals, but PetCo can have good critters, too, depending on which one you go to, but YMMV. Anyways, this one still has the basics: food and supplies for dogs, cats, small critters, and aquaria. I've seen kittens and cats available for adoption here as well, but don't think I've seen birds/reptiles/small mammals here. The dog food brand I get is usually in stock here, but will probably get my fish from elsewhere, since there smaller aquaria area means not as much variety in fish to choose from. Employees are friendly, though, and offer to help you to car, which is a touch of cordiality that is refreshing to see in a chain store. Bottom Line: It's a PetSmart, it's a chain store, but that means that they tend to have a wider assortment of dog treats and aquarium supplies (we're a house of dogs and fishes) and sadly this location has a smaller aquarium area. Will come by if I'm in the area and need to pick up something, but that's about it. read more

Do not take your dog here for grooming. They did not really wash her with shampoo. My dog smelled like when we took her here. They did not dry her eats and paws well which can cause fungus. The petsmart on Sunrise is much more better. Avoid taking your dog here if you want to avoid going to grooming two times at a time. read more
