I have been coming to the Petsmart @ 5559 Madison Ave for the last 10 years if not longer. The employees are very helpful & customer service oriented. One employee named Michelle has been especially kind & knowledgeable. She has gone above & beyond many times when I need help . She is the epitome of what it takes to be successful as a Petsmart employee. She is able to keep calm when there are 10 different issues going on around her. I witnessed this today - there was a customer requesting to speak to the groomer , others waiting in line, people wanting toake appts., incoming phone calls, people asking about the cat adoptions, etc., & Michelle stayed on task as the cashier. She was friendly, genuine & professional. I always look for her when I go in because she is the Best! read more

Store was clean and well organized the moment we walked in we were asked what we can be helped with which is polite and the standard in customer service. However we were asked several more times by the same exact individuals we had already answered while browsing a bit obnoxious. I'll come to y'all if I have a question. The last two stars are for an awesome associate Michelle, who had more customer service skills and general communication skills in her little finger than the gentleman who was somehow the manager, (dear lord) dressed for a nice day at the lake in shorts and a T-shirt with not a single identifying petsmart piece of clothing didn't even see a name tag. He questioned why the dog bed I selected was 40% off (because your sign says so) how are you unaware of your own store promotions. Then gave extreme trouble with your price match guarantee and I was gonna leave the item and probably the rest of my purchase. Luckily Michelle was able to pull out her excellent customer service skills (CLEARLY NOT SKILLS TAUGHT BY MANAGEMENT) and rectified the issue with ease, charm and a smile as opposed to just constipated is the best way to describe the way the MOD was acting. read more

I've had a few bad experiences with another store that rhymes with CetPo, about grooming my standard goldendoodle. They were always unable to complete the service, never cut his hair, and never tried to fully blow dry him and would charge me a full service anyway. I went in with low expectations and asked them to shave my dog all the same length if it was easier, all I wanted was a bath and cut. I truly had no faith they'd be able to get my dog properly groomed. I stayed around in the plaza for about 2-3 hours expecting a call they wouldn't be able to continue the service. Eternity was my dogs groomer and she went above and beyond. She gave my baby a second chance. I was so shocked to see him so well groomed. She did not shave him all the same length and gave him the cutest little face framing and tail fluffiness. He's absolutely adorable. I'm so glad Eternity treated my dog with patience. I've been coming here for years, but today's experience was extremely disappointing. I dropped my dog off at 2 p.m. for grooming, and when I hadn't heard anything by 3:45 p.m., I called to check in. They told me the grooming would take another hour and a half, so I headed to South Sacramento. About 20 minutes later, I got a call from a groomer named Chelsea, who was incredibly rude. She told me my dog had pooped and couldn't be groomed. I found this strange, as we've never had this issue with our regular groomer, James. Chelsea said she worked on another dog in the meantime, but now my dog was too stressed to continue. I mentioned that I had dropped him off at 2, and he's usually done by then, which is why I called to check if everything was okay. When I arrived to pick him up, my dog was covered in poop. It got on me and my car. I went back inside, and I saw Chelsea run to the back. I told the cashier about the situation, and they handed me some wipes and responded with a smirk. I called later to speak with the manager, who was extremely defensive. I had to explain that I wasn't upset about the fact that my dog had an accident; I was upset that he was left in that state and returned to me that way, especially after not even receiving the grooming service I brought him in for. This is something they've always handled, even with his hyperactivity. After years of bringing my dog here, I'm beyond disappointed with how this was handled. read more

Update: after waiting beyond the wait time they stated and calling multiple times I find out they cancelled my order because of my "address" but my address is correct. Their system is broken and I wouldn't be surprised if the prices you're charged overpriced by the system messing up. Don't use this company. Just go to Petco or your local mom & pop shop. It looks like greedy CEO skimpt on the important aspects like the infrastructure of the company. The online aspect is abysmal. None of the function work properly. Your order something and it says within 2 hours, built you'll be waiting longer. The prices are expensive because you're paying for the name brand not quality. Things behind the seams that supposed to make things seamless and easy for the customers make it harder for the customer. read more

Small but mighty. You wouldn't know until walking in that this isn't a full sized store. However it has all the great standard items across species, but not really a wide variety of interesting products. They offer groomer service which is fantastic for being a smaller location. The staff have all been nice and have been sweet to our dog. read more

I took my puppy. A ruby cavalier to PetSmart for a few little things in grooming. I was very specific on what I wanted done. Trim nails and hair between nails. Bath. When I went to get her they had shaved her coat and chopped off a lot of hair on the ears. Please train your groomers about how to cut all breed necessities when grooming. Maybe a book re: How to groom different breeds of dogs. I couldn't believe it! I cried when I got home. Do you know how long it takes to grow out Cavalier hair and it takes over 6 months to grow it out. IF YOUR GOING TO HAVE GROOMERS THEY SHOULD KNOW THEIR DIFFERENT BREEDS AND HOW TO CLEAN HER UP! Ginger's hair is growing back really odd. Please help your groomers by getting them a breed book and how to cut each breeds hair! read more

Go here if you want to someone to waste your time. I've been going here for as long as I've had my pet which is two years. I have seen new groomers which seems like it's monthly. High turn around rate here. I come back to give it a shot and think maybes it's just a bad day but now it's evident that it's just a poorly managed business/store with a horrible hiring team. You schedule appointments here, show up and they will cancel you at the register with some excuse about them running late and going over their lunch break even though I was about 15 minutes early to my appointment.This happened to me back to back already. It's a waste of time and gas. I also don't recommend the groomer Alexandria. Do you ever just walk into a business and can tell who hates their job? That's Alexandria for you. She doesn't even say hello to your pet knowing the pet is anxious and also drags her by the collar if the pet doesn't want to go. So when I removed the leash they had on her I was so appalled with how tight the leash was around my pets neck. Scary how she still works there. Save your precious time (and your pets!) and don't take your pets here. read more

I have been shopping here since I moved to Carmichael I believe over a year or so ago and the staff are very friendly. If you need assistance, they carry out your items for you to your car and everything is cleaned and organized! I only have purchased from them Dr. Elsey's, the veterinarian brand cat litter, it's more natural and virtually dust free, so compared to other brands when you're pouring the litter you don't get a woof of dust in your face! I would recommend shopping here when you're in the area and during the holidays they usually have animal pet photos which I've done at other locations before! read more

I was not happy the grooming that my dog had today, first of all I was charged a additional 10.00 because by dog would not stand up, I have never heard of that, I was not ask if my dog has any hip problems which in fact he does, I have medical proof that he does have medical issues with his hips and one elbow. I also asked to clean his ears very well and it only appears his ears were only cleaned at the very tip not done in the canal. I am making him a appointment now at the vet to have his ears checked more in depth. I was very disappointed with this visit to pet smart. read more

(Again so kind and not putting blame on her working up front alone.) There was only one other person working in the grooming salon. I scheduled a grooming appointment the day of because they had an opening and i figured why not. As soon as i got there the groomers were pretty mean and dismissive, i had a bad feeling about them. I still let them groom my pup but i shouldn't have because they only took about an hour to cut his hair and "bathe" him. They didn't wash him at all because he still had pee stains on my tummy and he still had food stains on his face. Those shouldn't be there at all. The worst part is that they gave him to me with a CUT on his snout and a cut near the cornea of his eye and they DIDN'T tell me WHEN IT WAS OBVIOS THEY CUT HIM. I wasn't going to say anything but I am very upset about how big his cut is and how irritated his eye is still. read more

Just had the absolute worst experience at PetSmart on Madison. There was poop on the floor and I stepped in it, it's PetSmart, it happens. I didn't know if it was my dog's or someone else's, but that doesn't matter. I pulled out my dog poop bag and picked it up, well what I could that wasn't stepped on. My plan was to let the front checker know about it or the next person I saw. I quickly grab the items I was looking for and made my way to the front. I was standing in line and one of the female workers, who was alerted to the poop on the floor by another customer, looked directly at me and said sorry to the other checkers she would be a while because there was poop on the floor that she had to clean up. I knew she was referencing me and my dog As the culprits, so I loudly stated that I picked up any of the poop that I saw with my own bag and I didn't know whether it was my dogs or not. The customer who told her about the poop made her way to the front, and the employee made a really big deal about telling her loudly how grateful she was that she gave her a heads up. She also told this customer that there was poop down every aisle and she'd be very busy cleaning it up. She did all this while staring me down. There's no way my dog pooped down every aisle, as I didn't even go down every aisle. I will never come to this Petsmart again. I never shop at Petsmart anyways because it's marked up much higher than other retailers, but I may have been convinced to come back if the service was amazing, but it wasn't. Perhaps she should not work at a pet supplies store with multiple dogs walking through it that may possibly poop. what a bizarre and disappointing experience. read more

Roy absolutely killed it during my visit this evening! That man is an absolute beast. Quick on his feet, attentive and truly cares about customer experience! Was able to count 150 crickets for me in less than a few minutes. When several customers walked in, he was quick to greet them and call for back up so that customers were not left waiting too long! I bring my Chihuahua here to have his nails trimmed. He looks like a cute, innocent 4 pound dog to most people. Try to trim his nails though...he turns into a terrifying demon that will try to murder you. I always have to warn the groomers about him being a little monster. Thank goodness I recently moved to the area and brought him to this location. The women that work at the groomers here are so kind and great with my dog! I've watched him getting his nails trimmed before. It usually involves one person wrapping him up in a towel while the other person cuts his nails. He shrieks and screams the entire time like he's being tortured. The ladies that work here had him in and out in minutes! He didn't cry, they didn't have to wrap him up and his tail was wagging when he came back out to me, which is a first. My go-to place for my ridiculous little dude from now on! read more

Terrible customer service on the part of management. Two cashiers had kindly invited me in to shop just before opening for business, so I gathered all the items I wished to purchase and waited patiently for them to get the register ready. The manager then saw me waiting and proceeded to reverse course and usher me out the door just as the cashier was about to ring me up. She was combative and unsympathetic to the fact that her own employees had been the ones to initiate my shopping experience. I guess, in her estimation, following procedures to the T is more important than treating a customer with respect. read more

TLDR: I came in to purchase cat food that was on sale but was charged the regular price so I told the cashier that it was on sale but they said it was the club members price. The next day I came in to return the cat food and was refunded the "club members price" instead of the regular price in which I paid for the item. So I was refunded the incorrect amount back to my card and lost money from a return. I came in one night to purchase dry food for my kitten and saw that there was a sale going on for it. I went to the register to checkout, then saw the price that was rang up wasn't the sale price but was the regular price. So I assume the prices haven't been updated in the system yet, so I asked my cashier. She told me, "That's the club members price". No where did I recall it saying anything in regards to club members pricing which just flat out shows how lazy she was in checking if the price was correct. Even on their website showed it was on sale. The next day I came in and another employee assisted me, I wanted to return the unopened bag of dry cat food and the cashier didn't scan my receipt or anything, they just inputted the cat food and I was refunded the sales price of the item, which was supposed to be the "club members price". So I told the cashier that I was refunded the wrong amount because the item I purchased was the regular price, not the sales price. They told me it'll refund the correct amount on my credit card statement. I waited a few days for the refund to process and I was charged the incorrect amount. So not only did the first cashier that helped me showed how ignorant and lazy she was, the second cashier acted the same. How hard is it to double check everything? read more

Normally I ain't the one to usually complain but I feel like this needs to be address It is my first time coming to this Petsmart for a grooming appointment for my pet. But right off in the beginning it wasn't going good. The groomer seem disturbed by the fact that we schedule an appointment the night before and kind of pointing out to us saying," I don't understand how the system let you schedule an appointment." Giving us an attitude saying," that it's weird.". I should've took that noted and took my business elsewhere but I stand my ground and continue with my appointment which was my mistake. she continue to give us options of what we would like for our pet to be groomed in detail clean and we pursue to get everything included which then she responds in an attitude and a bit aggressive ," it should take us roughly 4 hours." Which normally we understand that grooming takes a long time. Which I respond ,"I'm OK with it." so we pursued it. But within an hour she calls back saying that my pet is done. Which is weird because we got his haircut, a bath, nails clipped and his teeth brush. Which we find A little bit weird that all that was done within an hour. We didn't notice right away but upon expecting him later on, we noticed that he had some razor cuts and came out really itchy. It's only been three days and my poor baby doesn't stop scratching himself nonstop. I am now left with dealing with the fact of him scratching himself all the time. I called to complain and they're giving me a refund and offering a bath and other treatment to help with the itchiness which thankfully I appreciate what the general manager is doing for us. The general manager even took it upon herself to not only do the bathing for me my baby personally. Which in that note makes me feel more comfortable with that she is doing it and even going out of her way to help in some way with my baby itchiness. Now I know next time for sure if I were to get another appointment at this Petsmart I will for sure ask for anyone else other than Katie to even get close to my pet. So if Katie is your groomer reschedule or change groomers that is my recommendation. Just like her attitude it needs to go away and be replace. I hope this helps anyone. read more

Very helpful staff. I was on the hunt for a new collar for one or our dogs, and there were so many choices I felt like I needed to research them before shopping! I explained my "overwhelmingness" to the associate, and she launched right into the variety of collars, pluses, minuses, differences, similarities, and shared if whatever variety I purchased didn't work for my dog, I could return it. All the information and friendly interaction helped me decided to make the purchase then, instead of going home to figure out which one would be best (who knew there was such a variety of dog collars!). Would definitely shop this store again. Another customer and her daughter were in the store wanting to purchase fish, I observed how friendly and educational the two associates were to the family, while making their decision. We have been coming here for several years. Jessica was our groomer and she was so amazing! Since she has left, our experiences have crap. The other groomers are not very friendly, the haircuts take longer and are choppy. This last time, my dogs haircut was so patchy! There were lines shaved as if they weren't using a guard. When I called, the girl was so rude and told me my dog's hair just grows like that and that it's because I got her hair cut short. We have been getting the same haircut for years and it has never been this bad. My dog has no issues with patches in her hair. They did end up refunding me, which I appreciate, but I will not be going back. They seriously need to get Jessica back!! read more
