Located in the Overlake Crossing strip mall in Bellevue, WA, this instance of the giant pet chain, PetSmart, consists of every need that a pet owner might want. We stopped in for some doggy hand treats, doing an exchange for more chicken based from a beef liver based that was harder to use. My daughter couldn't find her email receipt to do the exchange, but the cashier/associate was able to look up the purchase based on the phone number and do the exchange without much problem. It did take a bit of time, so I had the opportunity to walk around the large store. Besides pet supplies for cats and dogs, it also sells/services fish and reptiles, including live bait and food. There is a Banfield Pet Hospital inside as well. Banfield and PetSmart continue to have a partnership (even though PetSmart no longer owns Banfield). We used to use them for our dog years ago, and learned that Banfield really depends on the veterinarian or chief of staff at the clinic. To complete a pet owner's need, the location also has a 'doggieday camp' and petshotel (overnight). My daughter told me that since last year, the the petshotel no longer has an employee overnight on-site. I also learned that Chewy was at one point, owned by Petsmart, but they split apart into separate entities. Chewy (as primarily an ecommerce company) now has greater net sales than Petsmart (2023)...really shows how ecommerce in many cases has overtaken retail for product (i.e. food) that works well on a subscription model. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my dog to be groomed at PetSmart. When I dropped him off I went over everything I wanted done, haircut, bath, nail trimming, anal glands expressed, etc... I came back to pick him up when he was ready and all I could tell they had done was bathe him and blow dry him. I asked what about the other things they said they were going to do but didn't. I was told by the girl that she didn't want to traumatize him so she didn't cut his hair. She says he was nervous. She told me she couldn't trim his face because "she wasn't allowed to" They still had no problem giving me the bill with no compensation. Why did they assure me everything I discussed with them was going to be done if they had no intention of doing it?!!? The groomers are incompetent, rude, and unhelpful. Please do yourself a favor and keep your pet away from this clown show. read more

Don't bring your pet to their Pets Hotel unless you enjoy a lack of transparency and being nickle and dimed. First, understand that when you call to reserve your pet's stay, you don't call the store directly. You are directed to their call center somewhere out of state in Arizona I believe. Also, in this area there aren't many PetSmarts that have Pets Hotel, so you will need to book early for the one you want. I intended to take my cat to the Tukwila location, but they were booked. Bellevue was my next closest option. While on the phone with the operator, I disclosed to her that my cat had asthma and had an inhaler and medication. I asked her if this was ok and if they could still take my cat. She was very nice and told me ,"sure! Absolutely!" I felt comfortable taking my cat there knowing this. She also asked me if I wanted to add spa services and playtime, all for an extra fee. I declined because I didn't want to add to my bill. Know that if you don't accept those add ons your pet will be kept in the kennel the whole time you are away. I was hours away from dropping my cat off to PetsSmart, when I got a call directly from someone at the store. It was this guy who who worked there speaking to me in almost a panic. He started asking me questions and as I answered them, I knew where this was going. He told me that he couldn't take my cat because there was no one there trained to administer his inhaler and how much of a liability it would be if my cat were to get sick or die under their care. I understood what he was saying, but what upset me was the timing, and that there was a blatant disconnect between the call center and the store, as remember, the lady I initially spoke to told me that they could take my cat after I disclosed his asthma. I gave him a piece of my mind and got off the phone. I was lucky to have found another place that was able to take my cat and the staff are trained in how to administer inhalers, and the cats get lots of free time outside of their kennels for no extra charge. The folks at my current place are genuine cat lovers and not apart of some huge corporate, big box pet store. I have also heard alot of negative things about Pets Hotel, so I'm actually grateful that things fell through with them, or else I wouldn't have found the great place for him that I did. I have taken my dogs here a couple of times in the past and it has been a good experience but this time when I went in to pick up my pet they looked nothing like they did the last few times they were there. The groomer this time (named Mara) was extremely rude and condescending to me when I explained my displeasure with the service. This is animal cruelty. Peta has asked several times for PetSmart to stop treating their animals this way but they continue to do so. The team at this location is wonderful but the way that the company treats these animals is heartbreaking. If you're going to stick the animals in cages please put them in actual large cages not containers. I can't imagine the anxiety they go through. read more

This is our go-to store for cat and fish products. Being new owners to both, I often need to ask questions and rely on their expertise to make the best decisions. They are always very knowledgeable (surprisingly so) and help me make the best decision for our unique needs. They never are trying to push product. Very customer-focused. They are also always stocked with what we need. It's a smaller store but they seem to always carry the right things and the right amount. The prices are competitive and they will match pricing too. Very disappointed to see the reptile department filthy and providing the incorrect nutrition to the bearded dragons. A pile of spinach in a poop filled tank is awful. Spinach is not supposed to be fed to beardies because it binds the calcium making it hard for their bodies to absorb this vital nutrient. There were days worth of poop in their cages. Dead bugs in the water of both the beardies and leopard geckos. The leopard geckos did not look like they had the proper humidity at all. I went in for dog food and left feeling sad and worried about the reptiles. I'll give my beardie an extra big hug tonight The example being set at this store is going to encourage poor husbandry by any newbie reptile owner that looks at those enclosures as proper care. She has had a variety of different people give her haircuts. But this last haircut she came back with multiple cuts on her belly! The groomer at checkout mentioned that she was unable to finish her belly area and left out ... that she cut her in multiple spots... It is a chain yes, but personal too. That is what I love. Sometimes this is a field trip for me and my CoCo- my toy poodle/Shitzu mix. When we run errands I'll stop by here just to get a treat or just to walk around. I've used all the services- grooming, doggie day care and the vet. I've been more than satisfied and would recommend the services. I love that some of the employees know my dog's name and always pet Coco. I feel so comfortable leaving her with the folks in doggie day care. She isn't always comfortable around big dogs and really prefers humans to dogs. The staff can tell if she isn't enjoying it and will either take her out or just hang with her if needed. I love that. Also The drop off service is a lifesaver . WORST CAT HAIRCUT EVERRRRR!!!! I dropped my long hair cat here for a grooming session. Mind you, my boy has had haircuts twice a year every year for the past 5 years and he has never had the need to even be put under sedation. PetSmart called us half hour after we left him to tell us that they couldn't get to his stomach and did everything they could and that we should come pick him up. When we got there, they charged us $59 and we thought maybe they must have done most of the grooming, just not the stomach. We were aghast to find that they had done next to nothing, just taken a patch off of his back, not even anywhere else they could have gone to. We are highly disappointed and will NEVER go there again. Seriously, WORST GROOMING I HAVE EVER SEEN. My sweet boy went through all the stress for nothing and he looks ridiculous. SMH! This is very awful grooming job. Dropped him off at 4pm then Picked him up around 7 last night. Seemed like they were super rushed "shave" him. I'm really a fan of this PetSmart. Every time I go there, I'm always greeted by warm staff members, they are very helpful and very sweet to my puppy. We bought most of our supplies there, they are goof quality and the price is fair, there are often a lot of events and discounts. We took a puppy training there too. The trainer Landon is very friendly, and knowledgeable with dogs, he suggested many different ways of solving problems and teach new skills. It's one hour each week for 6 weeks, we had to miss a class for Millow's neutering surgery, but Landon arranged a make up class with us, it was very helpful. While in the area for lunch, we decided to check out this particular location as we heard there were photo opportunities with an Easter Bunny for your dog; at least, that's what was happening in the downtown Bellevue location. Yes, true life, we dog-people like to take our dogs to meet fictional characters as if they were children. But anyway... This particular store, in comparison to the other Bellevue location, seemed to not have as much inventory nor did they have as many community event opportunities. No Easter Bunny was to be found here, sadly. The store, however, was clean and organized. Staff were also friendly. Yet because it doesn't hold up to the downtown location, which is closer to where I live, I would only come back here if in the area and if I was looking for something in particular. read more

Did the dog wash here.... Wasn't impressed. Our dog wasn't that clean for taking him to a "groomers". I would of tipped the girl that washed my dog but she was very unprofessional said she wasn't able to finish all the grooming because my dog needed dog training and said I should take him to the vet to trim his nails, I bought a nail grinder and did it myself it wasn't hard. We learned so much about how my dog reads my body language, and how I should read a dog's body language. We also learned about dogs in general including health and safety tips. I've brought my dog here twice to be groomed and my experience differed both times. The first time I brought my dog for grooming, I booked with Hailee L. When I got my dog back, he seemed stressed and was still a little smelly.... and had a bunch of fur in his eyes. I really believed that she did not cut his nails as well. The second time I brought him here, I booked with Taegan L. and she was great! My dog actually smelled good and seemed very happy. He even came out with a new bandana so I am very satisfied with her. Great location with very helpful staff. We are shelter volunteers and just got a litter of kittens and are starting to change them over to wet food and we needed big cans for the whole bunch. The small ones are pretty expensive if you have to feed 5 of them multiple times a day and a nice gentleman was able to find us kitten food in larger cans and even helped us out with a coupon he had available. They really care about animals and help you find the right product for your needs. They do have a huge choice, everything from basic brands to high end brands you usually would expect in specialty pet stores only. The prices were also very reasonable, especially on their own store brand. I can highly recommmed this location and their staff. I came in during the middle of the day and saw Henry wasn't playing. I made the employees take me to the back where I found Henry (and dozens of other dogs) cages that he couldn't even stand in. Dogs were stacked on top of each other in kennels, barking like mad. Henry was crying. There couldn't have been ten dogs in the play area and dozens were in the back. It was abuse. Of all the PetSmart's I've been to, this is my favorite due to the staff! Steve, the manager is great!! He takes the time to speak to you about the products that you may need and is incredibly kind. One of the girls really helped me out when I had a sick beta fish and she researched all the ways that to treat it. Additionally, this location has the most clearance sales. All the toys drop to $3 or less after holidays and I stock up on stuffies at the time. Love this store! read more

I am absolutely in shock with the experience at pet smart! We have gone here once with our new puppy who is easily excited and didn't have any problems however this last time was different. A women named Mara was from the start abrasive and very short with us which is forgivable since she was obviously under a bit of stress with other employees and moving the dogs around. We told her that we would like a traditional Westi cut for our dog(Maisie) but understood if they had to get a little close due to some mats on her face and underbelly. When we picked Maisie up our usually fun loving and energetic pup was skittish and jumpy. Mara (in the same abrasive and slightly rude tone) explained that Maisie was very wiggly and we would be charged extra next time. Again forgivable but when we got home and were playing with Maisie we noticed that the tips of her nipples were shaved off and scabbed over. The picture was just the worst of the nipples. read more

The staff seemed very inconvenienced by my arrival. Yes I was a little early, but I'm early for everything. I waited the 3 hours and once again was an inconvenience for them to pick her up. They said she was great and she looked great until I noticed she was obsessively licking her paws when we got home. I thought maybe having shorter nails was weird. The next morning I found that a part of her pad had been burned from the nail grinding as well as a nail that looked cracked. Don't go to the grooming here. I boarding my dog at here for a week! ONLY a week!!! And my dog's gums got deep infection. When I asked their staff.Every of them told me that is so normal，because my dog is a large breed.Wtf?I never saw what a large! and red! gum show on any breed of dog! I took my dog Tiny in on Friday for a Grooming Package with Nail Grinding added-on with Morgan. This is the first time I've been to this location. I checked in at 5pm and as usual they told me that it would be done within 3-4 hours. I wanted Tiny's hair really short at a #7 like previous times, but this time they recommended that I do it longer at a #5 because they thought a #7 was too short. I agreed to a #5 because they seemed uncomfortable about it which made me afraid that they might accidentally cut Tiny. I was surprised when they called so soon at 6:30pm (1.5 hours later). When I picked Tiny up, I noticed that she didn't smell good like usual after a grooming as if they never bathed her. Her haircut was bad and very choppy as if they used scissors throughout which caused her hair to be very uneven in length. If they had spent the 3-4 hours (like they told me) instead of 1.5 hours then the quality might've been better. Although I left a tip and didn't confront her, I am just really disappointed that I didn't get what I paid for this time. Aside from the quality, I was charged $62 for a Grooming Package with Nail Grinding added-on at this location and with the same package and add-on, I was charged $55 at the Burien location. I've taken Tiny to many Petsmart locations in Seattle area for her grooming in the past and never had any problems until now. read more

We have had good experiences boarding our dogs at the Pets Hotel in the past but their most recent stay made me question how the staff treats the dogs or how skilled they are at handling dogs. The person who took our dogs back at drop-off seemed new. He was very nice, but was barely holding onto the leash of our dog who we mentioned pulls and darts a lot, especially in an exciting/stressful environment. We were worried she was going to get loose and run off before being taken to her kennel. They also mentioned that our dog snapped at/bit a staff member. She is a barky/reactive dog but has never bitten anyone in our presence or in the care of anyone else. That makes me question how they were treating her. She has done well with other dog sitters and dog walkers, did really well at the groomers, and always does well at the vet even being poked and prodded. What was going on that caused her to react that way? Meanwhile the progress report that they give us when we picked up indicated that everything was great, with no mention of the incident. The care seems disjointed at best. I don't know if it's a bunch of new people that are ill-equipped or a team that isn't communicating, but overall I do not feel confident about this last visit, unfortunately. read more

My review is for the grooming. I took my 14lb little Italian Spitz dog for a bath and brushing de-shedding service. When I went to pick him up I heard him crying/yelping in the back. I asked the groomer Teagen how he did is he okay? She said he did great, just fine and is a little anxious is all. I bring him home and straight away notice a HUGE cut in his balls and bleeding. Did they think not to tell me because I wouldn't notice?? I understand accidents happen but lying that his yelping is due to anxiety and not the fact you literally CUT HIS BALLS, they're bleeding and to not tell the owner is bad practice. The vet said this is what occurs when groomers use a blade too hot too close/not the right size. Paid 74$ for the grooming only to have to pay an additional $$$$ for a vet appointment. Not trustworthy. If you end up taking your pet here for grooming after reading my review make sure to inspect your fur baby before leaving the store. Unbelievable read more
