It is named after Mud Bay Road, the location of its first store (the road being named for the body of water nearby). My daughter needed to get some gourmet (think refrigerated) for her new dog, so we tagged along. It's a very large store inside, with pets being encouraged to come in. The staff was super friendly and helpful. You will find a lot of brands that you don't see in the super-pet stores that we used to frequent. I love this place!!! It reminds me of a Whole Foods but just for animals hehe, I'm a first time dog mom and I have a puppy who's a very picky eater! I've been to lots of pet stores so far and I keep on returning his food bec he doesn't want to eat, my girlfriend told me about this place and boy was she right! Kaitlyn one of the sales associates helped me and she was so friendly! My puppy Archie immediately warmed up to her and she was so thoughtful to give him so much Treat samples and meal toppers! I bought a lot from this store bec it's very good ingredients and less preservatives! This store will be my main store from now on! I'll keep on buying from here because I love the customer service and Archie loves the food that Katlyn recommended! He loved all that she suggested too! Wow. My fiancé and I had the absolute best shopping experience here a few weeks ago. We decided to stop in to grab some new toys and treats for our dogs before going out for dinner. The staff was very helpful during our experience and were incredibly personable. They asked if we had been into a Mud Bay before to which we answered no and they seemed delighted that we were there. After we found a few adorable toys for our pets, we were given multiple treat samples to take home (which our dogs loved) in addition to a hand written welcome note. Mud Bay is a guarantee, lots of healthy choices for your furry family member. My cat eats exclusively the petcurean NOW dry food sprinkled with the Life Essentials Freeze Dried Chicken treat. I think I did it at the beginning to make her eat the dry food and she thinks that that's a thing... so spoiled... the store is not huge for a pet store, but full of great stuff. I love this place! It's clean and well organized. The staff is absolutely amazing with their knowledge and customer service. My cat was diagnosed with kidney disease two years ago and my vet wanted me to go on a prescription diet. I decided to go here and told them about her diagnosis. They knew exactly what to buy and explained what ingredients to avoid. I followed their advice and her levels have stayed the same. My vet said whatever you're doing, keep doing. There's a private lot out in the front, making it easy and accessible to get to and the store is big enough, with enough stock for your furry baby. Staff are always super friendly here - and knowledagable about the products. If you're shopping at Mud Bay for pet supplies, I assume you only want the best for your pet, and that is indeed what you will find here. But I especially like that the employees know about specific items and what goes into the food products, which is important if your pet has an allergy or is on a strict diet. They always ask, too, if there are any specific allergies before giving my dog a treat - which doesn't sound like much but dog parents can tell you, this is super important and thoughtful. They'll even send you home with treat samples to try, so that you can test new products, which is something that's important for my dog since she is a picky eater. My 5-star review of this Mud Bay boils down to one person: Ignatius. Not only did he greet me when I first walked in, he asked if he could help me find anything (and then he DID help me find what I was looking for). When I checked out, he asked how my day was going. And when I asked him, he said he was happy to wake up, to be alive, to eat breakfast, and to have a job. Even though I'm rarely in Bellevue, and even though this was my first time in this particular Mud Bay, and even though I spent literally 7 minutes in this store, it was one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time. So hats off to Ignatius, who I'm sure will be managing that Mud Bay in the near future (if he wants to), and thank you for your help and stellar positive attitude. My wife and I went in to get a couple harnesses for our dogs. Nate greeted us immediately and asked if he could help with anything, and we told him we were in for some harnesses. He took us to them and helped us size and fit both dogs with Ruffwear. One of our dogs was nervous so before trying to put the harness on him he played with him and gave him treats until he would let him put the harness on and Nate made sure to get them fitted perfectly before we left. I love this place!! I recently adopted a dog and the adoption center gave us some vouchers to Mud Bay. My favorite part about this place is that it's like a boutique (unique foods, quality products) but their prices are low to reasonable. There isn't much variety at grocery stores and petco/petsmart can get very expensive. I feel much better shopping here! And I feel happier being able to let my dog try different food (like salmon pate and venison?!). They also have a nice selection of dried treats too where you can scoop your own bag and pay by the pound. Came in here a few days ago to get some food for my cat, I am usually a huge fan of mudbay. I go to the one in issaquah very often. The store is easy to locate, very spacious inside and the workers are very attentive. There was a section for sample litter which was helpful in picking out the specific one I was looking for. I LOVE Mud Bay. I was introduced to them in Olympia when I got my kitty from the King County animal shelter. They had coupons to get free food and litter from Mud Bay. Everyone there was so knowledgable and friendly. I have from time to time gone to the big box pet stores, when getting to Mud Bay isn't gonna happen, but i always come back to Mud Bay. I started going to the Bellevue one when we moved up here. We had adopted another kitty who had alot of health problems, and they were really helpful finding the right foods for allergy problems, and when she started peeing all over the house, they had not one but two kinds of hormone based kitty-chill out aroma products to help her relax. Like everyone else has said, they give out free samples, they will take food/litter back, they have a huge selection of healthy products. They also seem to supply really local products, I have some dried bonito flakes that my cat loves (all protein), that were made in Bellevue. I am not really sure if they are expensive or not, most of the big stores/grocery stores don't carry the cat food i get. My general feeling about the big stores being cheaper is that probably someone's getting screwed somewhere down the line. Either it's the store employee's getting paid less, or supplier's getting paid less, or the supplier is skimping on materials and we, the consumers, are getting screwed with crappy products. I get the feeling that Mud Bay employees are perhaps a little more happy and satisfied than the employees i've met at the big stores. I really enjoyed my first visit to Mud Bay. The staff was really welcoming and gave us a welcome package for our fist visit. I had been driving all over town looking for a few very specific things and am still searching! I will likely go back to Mud Bay to get a new bed for my dog and they had a decent selection. The store had a nice selection, I will be back for a heated mat for my spoiled little girl! I was able to find a Zanies Rope Bear for my dog that was a little big for her, but she loves playing with it and it will last her a long time since she is a chewer. There is a Hawaiian woman who works here. She is phenomenal. This is the best MudBay location I've been to, although every location has always been top tier. Living in Bellevue and having a high maintenance bi...err dog that needs to eat a specific brand of organic dog food to keep her coat all healthy and shiny (I don't even eat organic food). I'm pretty much left with two options, Sierra Fish and Pets and Mud Bay. Mud Bay is actually closer to me so I end up going here most of the time, and the pricing for the Nature's Variety Prairie Chicken and Rice is about the same, so no complaints. I actually like visiting Mud Bay a lot because It's always a very welcoming environment for people and animals. The store itself is also very clean and doesn't have that weird pet store smell (probably because they don't sell pets there). There is plenty of variety and options for whatever you may need for your dogs and/or cats. However, if you have other types of pets like snakes, birds, etc. This may not be your store because I think it mainly caters to dog and cat owners only. Another great thing to note is that this store is kind of like the Nordstrom of pet stores in regards to their return policy. If you ever weren't quite sure if this or that new pet product was right for you, now you can try it with confidence. My new Mud Bay. Why: all the helpful knowledge and assistance of the other Mud Bays.....without the over-the-top, overdone, in-your-face (aggressive?) friendliness. Bonnie at this particular Bellevue location should be the training prototype: very warm and genuine "hello," super informative when I inquired about fish oil....took me right to it and answered a couple questions I had. I thanked her, she smiled and backed off and left me to read the label and decide. She was attentive and friendly without being in my face about it. YES!!!! What a concept! It had gotten to the point I'd actually avoid Mud Bay if I didn't feel up to a ton of engagement and go to All the Best instead. I realize it's undoubtedly a company culture and training aspect, but there IS such a thing as too much chirpy talking and too many offers of help. At the very least, read the customer. If they and/or their body language seem non-receptive, quiet, whatever...that means you should probably chill out and just let them shop unencumbered. Great. Now I feel like a giant curmudgeon ("Friendliness...Bad!"), but come on Mud Bay! Either drop the pushy, no-exceptions "friendliness" as a customer service mandate or train new staff on how to read people better. Anyway....shout out and thank you to Bonnie! First thing is how nice and helpful the staff is. Customers are greeted immediately when coming in. If you need help they are eager to offer assistance and they know their products very well. If you want to browse without assistance they will leave you alone to roam the store unharrassed. The Bellevue store is a little smaller but they make the most of the space they have without it feeling crowded. They have a really good assortment of supplies for dogs and cats. After adopting our Evil Duo from Cat City we found ourselves in the wilds of Bellevue after visiting my parents. Mud Bay Granary gives out coupons to adoptive owners for free food and litter and such. The woman who helped us choose our food was very knowledgeable about cat health and steered us to the highest protein food she could (cats shouldn't eat too many carbs or else they can get diabetes)she even gave us a list of brands that were readily available at mega stores that we could use!. She also helped us pick out 5 free cans of wet food for a variety of texture (cats also have texture issues). I have never done the raw food thing for pets before but we also received a free bag of raw meat frozen pellet things to try. I have to say she was the friendliest, funniest person I have encountered in a store lately and I really enjoyed shopping there. Many people have mentioned the high prices and I agree. Personally, we get the highest protein kibble at Mega Pet (or wherever) now BUT we know not to go there if we are interested in getting advice or help (I'll review them later) so in effect you are paying for service. Whenever we want to try a different product or talk to someone about supplements we go to Mud Bay. I highly advise any new owner to go there. BTW: Tuggles and Princess Fantastico HATED the raw food so I am really glad we tried it out for free. read more

My go to spot for Arrow. I have my absolute fave clerk who makes every interaction with him 5 stars and keeps me coming back. Did I mention he has this va va va voom accent that is a mash of South Africa/England? I digress. He would win you over accent or no. His helpful tips when introducing new products to your pet and the samples samples samples make for a happy customer. He assembles crates, totes my purchases to my car, plays with the pup, yada yada yada. So why 4 stars? He's not the only salesperson. I have had interactions indirectly with a woman who micromanages another extremely friendly and helpful clerk while he assists me. If she's not his boss she is definitely Miss BossyPants. She interjects in his ear like an annoying gnat when he does just fine flying solo. This has happened two times too many. Adding insult to injury, she conveyed info that was dead wrong. After walking into the Mud Bay in Belltown and the other one on Broadway, this one is my favorite. Just because of the girl working here (the Broadway store was very nice too). She was very enthusiastic, helpful and really helped me with what to pick for my two dogs, my picky Yorkie Maltese and my German shepherd. I've never had such great service before! The dog treats and the dog food are wonderful. My dogs love them and my Yorkie is super picky but he's been trying out each of the food options and likes them! What a pleasant surprise. I love that Sherry, the manager, is there to greet people and spends a lot of time explaining different foods, the nutritional components, etc. She and her staff always provide excellent advice & AWESOME customer service. I came in to browse and see what they have in stock for my rather picky puppies (7yo) with a sensitive tummy. There are some types of food which usually come in bog containers. This store had a different brand and small containers (less risk of them getting bad before I am finished feeding them). So I decided to try them. At checkout I was asked whether I am trying these out, which I did, so I replied yes. With that they were for free and while this may be company policy (I don't actually know) a small gesture like this goes a long way and if my dogs do well on these I'll be back at this store to by them by the palette, because this kind of service is just amazing! read more

This is my 2nd favorite store for pet food next to All the Best Pet Care. The best thing about Mud Bay is the hours! All the other premium dog food stores around the area tend to close really early and MudBay stays open till 9pm everyday except Sundays. Other reasons why I like this store: 1. We come here to buy raw food, ZiwiPeak and their treats. I appreciate the fact that they only carry premium food at the store. No corn fillers, preservatives, meat by-products, coloring and other yucky stuff! 2. Some unique items. They even carry ultrasonic toothbrush for dogs though our dog still doesn't like it. 3. They have an amazing return policy! We bought Nature's Variety Instinct Raw in Venison and our dog doesn't seem to do well with Venison. She usually does Chicken and Lamb. I called them up to ask if it's returnable especially after I lost the receipt (duhh) and the guy said yes! Why they are not my #1: 1. Some of their products seem overpriced. For example, I saw that they carry a PetEgo carrier for around $70. I went home to search for reviews and found out that you can get it online for $45! 2. Staff do not really greet you or offer much advice. They need to smile too! The answers I usually get from them are just a few words long. When I bring my dog in here, no one ever gives me dog any treats or even say "hi" to the dog. The non-acknowledgement didn't make me feel as welcomed here as I should. 3. Their raw food selection is really small. They only carry Nature's Variety and one or 2 other brands. They don't have lots of raw bones either. 4. No samples. I saw that they have a shelf of samples behind the counter but was never ever offered any. 5. The place looks dull and dimly lighted. Nothing exciting about the decor. I have an Olde English Bulldogge and he is on a grain free diet. They had a large variety of grain free biscuits that my dog salivates when he sees them. I was currently on vacation and decided to stop by the pet store to see what I could find him. The three types of biscuits I purchased for him was the sweet potato, peanut butter and cheese biscuits and his digestive system hasn't change since. Love this place! Local business, super staff at every store I've visited, and a fantastic selection of high-quality products. I have an incredibly picky cat and they always help me with samples and advice. Their other pet products are also fantastic. I was able to return a litter box after a few weeks when my cat stopped using it reliably (which she NEVER does, turns out she hated the lid-with-a-hole-in-it design).
