This review is for the grooming department in PetSmart.. I've been taking my little guy here for years. I like that they have an option to pay for express which means your dog never goes in a cage. They shampoo and cut your pet straight through. I schedule with certain groomers and Darian is one of my favorites! He does a wonderful job with the hair cuts and my dog loves him. While they are a bit in the pricey side, it's quick and convenient. read more

Adopted two cats and spent a ton of money ($700+) to adopt them and got all our supplies there. Then both cats got very ill, despite having a hospital right there on site, they made us travel 3+ hours to Waldorf for care and had zero interest in helping us. Both cats ended up dying after we spent thousands on medical bills trying to save them... I will never shop here again. read more

Allen, the person who I booked with cut all of my dogs hair off because she was a little matted. However this was the thing that I was the least concerned about. My dog was also not washed(because she still smell if she was she wasn't washed well), her nails was clipped unevenly(It was bad), and she was hurt when she returned. Allen was also aggressive with my dog as she was cutting her. This was a waste of $100. Also I took her here before when she was matted and they just unmatted her with no extra cost but with Allen it was an extra $20??? If I could do -10000/10 it would be that, we always come here to get our dog groomed but ever since Alan came along, we will NOT BE COMING BACK! He shaved our dogs hair off because it was a little matted, and clipped her nails unevenly and DID NOT WASH HER. When we got snapped and sassy and rude it was clear he can't take criticism even though his mistake was at the expense of MY DOG!! He also called my dog a bad dog and said that notes said she bites but NO OTHER GROOMER SAID THAT!!!!Also I think he hurt my dog and was very aggressive with her since when I try to touch her head she gets snappy which she never did before. I took my 11 month old dog into the White Marsh store for grooming today. I have taken him to a different PetSmart location for grooming since I've had him and I've never had an issue before. Today, my mom was in the store next to PetSmart and decided to pop in to peak through the window at him while he was being groomed. The groomer had the grooming collar extremely tight on his throat and his head pulled taught to the point where he was coughing and having trouble breathing. She was physically aggressive with him as she moved and yanked at him and violently brushed him. She stopped grooming him, pushed his face into the metal bar of the grooming table to get the leash on him, and threw him in a crate, which is when my mom stepped in. The groomer said my dog was being bitey while being brushed. This has never been an issue before and, frankly, if she was yanking and pulling on him that hard and he was having trouble breathing, then I can't really blame him. She had the audacity to say he needs to be better trained or sedated. It seems to me that it's the PetSmart staff that needs to be better trained. The groomer then released him to my mom without checking her ID or calling me to see if she was an approved pick-up person. Is this a common practice for PetSmart? Thank god it was my mom picking him up and not a stranger. She also charged the whole price of the groom, even though she only bathed him and trimmed part of him. She did not trim his face, his neck, or his tail, she did not brush his teeth, and she did not trim his nails. When people drop their dogs off at PetSmart for grooming or other services, they are entrusting the staff with the safety and care of a member of their family. I am incredibly disappointed in my experience today. read more

Unfortunately, this review doesn't just apply to the PetSmart Whitemarsh, Bel Air, or Abington, Maryland locations, but the entire PetSmart chain as a franchise. Pet smart has built a culture in their Grooming Department that allows their groomers to discriminate against customer! There discrimination is based on the race of the customers, the groomer's personal basis feelings, and retaliation against the owner's pet if they are corrected. In addition to the aforementioned, they operated within a "good old girls ( most groomers are women) network. They use their ability to put in bias note create a negative narrative about customers, in the event the customer decides to try a new location! Store level and even upper management provides equally horrible services Objectivity by upper level mana My family and our handsome and amazing one and half year old Golden Doodle has experienced the following discriminatory practices: Being questioned about our pet's vaccination Our sweet Aloe terrified of the groomer Secretive notes being put into the company's notes that allow for further bias and discriminatory practices. Being yelled at by groomer managers, Store Leaders, Regional Supervisors We have been told on multiple occasions to go somewhere else and that our sweet Aloe was not welcomed Denied the opportunity to use a different groomer that may be a better fit to groom or pet. Fortunately, we tried Petco!!! What a difference! We pick Aloe up and his groomer is hugging him telling him what a good boy he is! He is not trying to run out of the store, the groomer isn't looking like she just got into a fight with a 1,000lb Lion! The customer services is always professional and Aloe's cut is always amazing!!!! PetSmart sucks and I will say it louder, they display a level of racism, discrimination, and bias that is very sad! read more

I purchased an Arcadia Trails harness less then a month ago. The harness ripped at the seams. I went to the store to exchange it. I didn't want to return it, just exchange. I was told I couldn't because it was USED. Well I paid over 40.00 for this harness. It was simply from walking her. This is the response i was given. As a fellow Pet Parent, I understand how important this is for you. I will share your experience and concerns with our Merchandising and Quality Assurance Teams. Unfortunately, there is no harness on the market that will stand up to a pet chewing, pulling, or clawing it to shreds to get out of their harness. You may want to look into a Gentle Leader head collar would be better than a harness. Normally we do not take back pet damaged merchandise because that is behavior we cannot control. Here at Customer Care, I am unable to override the manager's decision at the store. Any accepted return of damaged merchandise must be approved by the manager. Once again, I am sorry for any frustration you may have. Thank you for contacting PetSmart Customer Care; tell your pets we said hello! I can see if I was asking for a refund. This is for the grooming side at this location. please be aware if you book an appointment online for your pet to be groomed please note that appointment may be taken even though you are able to fully book. I booked an appointment for my pet last week and added into the notes he is an "express". Meaning due to my pet having a heart condition he has to be groomed in 1hr and picked up immediately with no kennel time. If I booked on Wednesday last week why I'm i getting a call the day before the appointment stating the appointment time I selected is booked and the next available is 5 days later. First time having my dogs hair cut there and I am so happy! I think her name was Alicia? Sorry I may be off but she did an amazing job. She listened to everything I wanted with my dog, and was helpful with helping me find out when her rabies shot was. She was so friendly and my dog looks amazing! I've always had a problem with her nails because they are never short enough but she made them the length I wanted, thank you! You guys were so much better then the last place I went, I'll be back. DO NOT bring your pets to be groomed at PetSmart. Last year at the Abington location , my mother picked up her dog after a grooming session and was shocked to see a huge chunk of flesh missing upon returning home. She brought her dog immediately back to the groomers and asked why no one had the courtesy to inform her of the injury. Mistakes happen, we understand but this was gross negligence and the groomers did not offer an apology and informed her "IF he has to go to the vet, corporate will pay for it". Being as it was a flesh wound we did not want to escalate it and decided never to go back to that location again. Fast forward to last week, my dog has been staying her her while I've been traveling ( I'm based in NYC) and she made appointments for both her dog and my dog to get groomed one day within each other. Dumpling has been to groomers before and has always come home happy and healthy when in NYC. This time, she came home vomiting and with a fever and diarrhea.... For the past 4days. After my mother's dogs appointment, he also had vomiting, chills, fever and diarrhea. This set off a spark in me as this was the second traumatizing experience from this corporation and upon speaking to an attorney friend I was shocked and terrified to learn there have been multiple deaths , injuries and lawsuits due to Petsmarts incompetent policies. I emailed their corporate office and was promised an email two days later with no reply so called their hotline and promptly was met with a call back from the assistant manager of this location onThe same day. The assistant manager was very empathetic and assured me he and the manager would find out what happened. A mere hours later the manager of this white marsh location called and informed me after "viewing the video " there was no fault on their part. When I asked for a copy he told me " that's not possible". Rude, condescending , the manager is a corporate trained soulless heathen who obviously does not care about the welfare of animals. Our whole conversation was filled with long pauses in which he said he saw the video and that was it, as if expecting me to apologize or thank him. Mind you, I'm still in NYC and booked the next available ticket back to MD so I can take our pups to the vet tomorrow. If you are unsure about where to take your pets for grooming do yourself a favor and google lawsuits deaths and injuries from Petsmart. I live a lot closer to the Towson location but I am going to start taking my dogs to White Marsh despite the 22 mile round trip x2. They answered the phone when I called, didn't put me on hold so long that I had to hang up, and actually had available appointments. Not to mention, they knew how to use the scheduling system. For $54, my pup receives the entire bath and trimming experience, which includes ear and anal gland cleaning and nail trimming with a haircut. It's always nice taking him here because my furry baby is like family and he deserves pampering. Courtney is thorough with her work and extremely skilled at what she does. She welcomes us with a smile and shows so much love to Gus. I feel at ease whenever I drop him off, and she gives me a call when he's done. The oatmeal shampoo that Courtney uses smells delightful and makes his fur super soft! They go above and beyond and allow my kids to some times feed fish, touch lizards, etc. We have been beyond pleased with our beginning training class with Brandon. I always enjoy this location. It's organized, clean and the staff is friendly. I can generally find what I need here, because I tend to come if I need incidentals or something I want to touch and feel (I tend to get dog food and most supplies online, but sometimes you like to come and try out stuff before you buy it.) They even have grooming facilities, Puppy/Dog training as well as a Banfield Pet Hospital. The staff is extremely friendly . Went to this Petsmart about a week ago to buy an aquarium and supplies. The girl who was working the aquatics department was very friendly and EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Went back here tonight for a couple of fish, and the same girl helped me again. And like last time she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The people in these pet store aquatics departments are not usually very knowledgeable, but this girl was. I am in absolute awe. I'm actually still trying to digest all the information she gave me. This is for the grooming department area. I had scheduled an appointment for three dogs to have their hair trimmed. I did this by way of phone. I have had the previous dogs done there before. I had no problems whatsoever with them. They said it would take a few hours to have the three dogs done which was fine. But when I arrived they refused to do my dogs because they said they were afraid of them. I've never had this happen before and there were larger sized dogs being done at the time when I showed up. The dogs I have are shih-tzus with a little bit of Lhasa Apso mix in one of the dogs. So I had to go and cut the dogs hair myself. read more

I like our vet because she knows how important our animals are to us as family. My issue is that for every ten minutes I spend with her I have to deal with the front desk 30 or more minutes. We do not leave there without it costing $140 or more. So when the front desk screws up an order (prescription), or is lazy (won't get up off her butt to ask the doc on duty a question), or is rude (talking about us in the third person and we are right there), or unsympathetic when random issues occur I have a problem. I'm old enough to remember good service and this is not it. It has cost them a customer who has spent thousands on our pets. read more

Employees are heartless. Pets should be top priority when working at an animal store, especially with a built in animal hospital. I was walking out to let me sick dog go to the bathroom outside (had been at the vet for an hour) and my poor dog couldn't even make it outside. Had diarrhea right in front of the register. The girl, Richelle, at the register just stared at me. When I asked for paper towels, she pointed to the station which wasn't near where I was. My dog is still going and I had to drag him over to get paper towels. Then he begins vomiting up blood, at this time the paper towels are gone. I'm standing between vomit and diarrhea and ask for more paper towels and she says to give her a minute. Finally I beg the next person I see to help and Bentley (I believe her name was) went to grab paper towels and actually kneeled over and helped me clean up his bloody vomit noticing I was upset and needed help. I am thankful for her. I am sad that my animal could not even make it outside and had to continue to get sick in the middle of the floor with multiple people and dogs walking around him since I could not leave his mess. Somebody should have helped immediately. I don't expect anyone to clean up my mess, but at least bring me some supplies when you see I am struggling. I called the manager, Josh, and he didn't even seem to understand the issue. I will not be returning here, sadly. I hope nobody else has to go through this read more

This is for the grooming department only. I took my dog here recently to be groomed and when I first walked in to check-in I was very close to walking out. One of the groomers was yelling at her dog and another was being unnecessarily rough with her dog. Both of these dogs were shaking. I wish I would have walked out then with my dog, but I didn't. I left her there and then came back early and saw that the groomer my dog had was being rough with her, as well. So, I walked in and stopped the grooming session. I understand that not every dog cooperates and there are probably techniques that the groomers have to deal with this, but my dog is not one of these dogs. She is very scared and has always been obedient. There was no need to be rough and traumatize her. If you have a dog with a similar temperament I caution you to not bring your dog to this location. They aren't professional and almost every groomer I saw that day appears to despise animals. If I could give this place zero stars I would! read more

Shopped ar the middle river Petsmart black friday, this was like 11 in the morning, went to 5 other stores no problem, they only have 3 check out lines, 2 were barely moving, not sure if it was the new chip readers or slow computers but they need better organization and faster more efficient tech.
