I bought a baby bearded dragon here and called them to see if I could exchange her bc she wasn't eating, and I was afraid she was going to die. I called and Zeke was so understanding and helpful and told me to bring her in and we could exchange her. When I got there him and Roman were so helpful, they out her in isolation with lots of heat and said she was doing better, suggested I buy a basking lamp and I exchanged for a new one. They weren't judgemental , just helpful and informative. And Brianna at the front and Roman made sure we were able to change her without paying , but just an even exchange. I couldn't be happier with their customer service and how helpful and nice they all were. Very impressed. read more

Its the only Petsmart on this side of town. Its a lot bigger than either of the Petcos so has a wider selection of products, pets, and services. That said it is not as nice as either Petco. This location is kind of run down and there are people in the parking lot that ask for money. The employees are nice and it seems as though they try and keep the old place clean. read more

It's hard to review a chain store because they are all pretty much the same. A lot of food, a lot of toys, etc... but my dog doesn't care about any of that. She just loves to be able to go into a store and get attention, sniff the smells, score some treats, and charm some cookies out of the cashier. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And so, I give them 4 stars... because Roxie just loves this store. And that is really all that matters. read more

I really enjoy this place. Their prices are alot better than Petco, especially the fish tanks. My hobby is fish and the employees in that department are very knowledgeable with fish! I go in when i need my water tested in my freshwater tank, and when ever I want to add fish, this is the place I go. I really love the employees, expect for one of the managers that did a override while talking on her cell phone. But! I love this place, I would only change a few things. I would change the location, cuz there are some really weird people hanging around out side, They even had to hire a security guard to hang out in front, which acually made me feel some what better. I've been going to pet smart for grooming for a year now and at first I really liked everything, but it seems like every appointment I made the worse the haircuts got. Today I went for a summer cut and nothing is blended well, my dogs hair framing his face is uneven.. for the price of 67 I expect it to be decent but it's not even that. They make you pay before you even get to see your dogs hair cut and they don't even show you they just expect you to take your dog and leave. Now I have to try to fix the haircut at home.. even though my dog spent 6 hours at the groomers. read more

Pet-lover here! I'm always here getting stuff for my own cat plus whatever pet I may need to pick things up for. They primarily have cat and dog care, but also have a fish section, a bird section and even rodent section! Banfield Vet is also located at the rear of the store. PerSmart has a grooming section to the side of the store and also a large fenced off area near the center of the store for dog training classes they offer. Most recently, I had to stop by to get supplies to bottle feed a litter of abandoned kittens. Indiana was an AMAZINGLY help to my boyfriend and myself. She greeted us as soon as we walked in (both times lol) and pointed us to the right section. Then later that same evening when we found we were having trouble feeding the kittens, she gave us great advice on caring for them. Thank you, Indiana and Petsmart! Very nice and says my dog Traps, is lovable and easy to groom. Which she is. Also there is a dog trainer that had been the sweetest! For two years we have brought our dog Dahlia in. She now only gets her nails trimmed because we shower her but when they did they did a great job. We have had good experiences with all the employees in the grooming and in the actual store. I went into this store about 30 minutes before closing time to pick up a couple of fish. When I politely asked the young lady working in the fish department to help me, she had an attitude and treated me in a rude manner. There was only one other customer ahead of me and she was helping them. When she finished helping that customer she intentionally waited on another customer who walked up after I asked her for help. It seems like there is a constant turnover of employees at this store and for the last year or so when I spend my hard earned money on the fish department its always a snotty attitude from a sales associate who'd rather be any where else but there. After patronizing this store for years I will take my business elsewhere. Somebody needs to give the sales associates a lesson on customer service. read more

This review is for the grooming dept only. Not the store. Made an appt for my elderly friends dog. Groomer talked with my friend about his dog. They asked general questions about the dog. Breed, size, weight, rabies papers etc. We also told them, the groomer, that the dog is older and has a sore leg from an injury long ago. They said ok, and made the appt for 9 am the next day. When we brought the dog into the store for appt. the groomer said " I'm not going to groom him. I have a bad back" what the f@$^ does that mean? She knew about him the day before. He's not that big. I then asked to speak to the manager and he told me it's the groomers choice. She should not have made the appt if she knew her" back was bad." The manager was not helpful at all. That groomer needs to find another job. Worthless in my opinion. I myself spend alot of money monthly in that store for MY pets. The senior and his dog had to come from taft for this appt. He doesn't drive, so figure it out. Waste of time, gas, and money. They will hear from me again about this. Grooming dept. is not recommended by me at all. read more

They went above and beyond to make me a happy customer and correct the issues I had with my first visit. 1st I don't live in Bakersfield , but when my friend whom I was visiting I had a problem with fleas and ticks first thing I decided to do is go to the local pet store assuming that Petsmart would be good and get supplies to help them out so when I get there I ask one of the workers for which aisle and what products to use on Ticks they directed me to the wrong section then informed me that none of the products will you do the job so I disregarded what what they said and googled which products were the best after gathering a few products I headed to the front pay for my purchase when I got to the front Gabby was the girl of the cashier that helped me told me to lift up my purse that she needed to check underneath it that it was to our policy so I said OK my laptop was on top of my purse so I tried to hand my boyfriend my laptop to tell them to hold it and as I was doing that she grab my purse and and I was stunned by the fact that she would touch my belongings once I agreed to will lift up my bag at the cart then she told me that i asked you to move up your bag I replied to the girl I was doing just that then she continued to tell me that's store policy then I lifted up my bag . The cashiers see nothing underneath my purse in the cart I proceeded to put my bag and my laptop on top Of it. first of all I know its not store policy to do that second of all I was embarrassed and insulted to be looked at like I was a thief when I'm spending 200+ on flea and tick supplies for the cat I don't know what their problem is in the store or if it's discrimination maybe because I'm middle eastern they did this but I was insulted because if I was white I don't think they would've done that. So this happened a few weeks ago but is still a valid story to know for anyone looking to shop here and not Petco. Since registering several months ago, my phone number has never worked when trying to sue their rewards program. Call me vain but I've never been a huge fan of carrying several little pieces of plastic on my key chain with me everywhere. After purchasing several items, I was advised to call into the 800 number provided for the system. After making said phone call, and hearing from the rep that there's no issues and i should be able to use my number fine, I decided to return my non-discounted items to the store. Upon my arrival, I stood behind the elderly lady in line who was slowly finishing up her transaction. Before I even the person at the front of the line, the cashier (the one with pink hair) and I had this exchange of dialogue: Cashier: Are you returning those today? I: Yes, I am. Cashier: Is there something wrong with them? I: No. Cashier: Okay. Will you be getting something else today? If so, I can hold onto them up here for you while you look around. I: No, thanks. Cashier: Well, what, did your dog die? I was returning puppy toys purchased for a three month old puppy. The toys were even marked for PUPPIES. ! That was not the statement she could have made. What if my dog had, in fact, died?! Is it her place to try and dig into those issues when someone is merely trying to return items purchased with the last hour? I don't really think so. And it didn't stop there with her either. After the lady in front of me had left and I moved to in front of the register, I explained about the number to rewards program issue and just asked for a full refund, if only so I could just get out of this bad transaction quicker. Not if she had anything to say about it! This employee then proceeded to argue with me over my return. First over which items should have been discounted. Then saying "well, I'll just give you the discount now" which was not my intent from the beginning. I had asked for a full refund and she did not want to budge. It was not until another cashier came up and took the receipt from her that she folded like a lawn chair and handed me my money. And it was only $10.71. I firmly believe in the voting power of the dollar. If this company thinks that even after bring this to their attention that keeping on an employee like this is acceptable, then I will make a conscious decision to drive myself elsewhere for needed goods and services. This Petsmart will not be getting my vote again. read more

I love shopping at Petsmart located on Ming and Stine, Bakersfield. Everyone there are attentive and will spend as much as time you need to understand your concern without showing any sense of rush. If one doesn't know much about a product, they're very honest and don't hesitate to admit. My experience in the store and online has always been outstanding. This is a review for the GROOMING SALON of this PetSmart: I've only used this grooming salon twice. The first time was because I had a coupon for a puppy bath, and the second time was to get my huskies' pads shaved. I've never been happy with the customer service here. They don't acknowledge you when you walk in, they're cold, it seems like they play division of responsibility whether you're dropping off or picking up, it seems like they aren't extremely organized with their scheduling, and they only say thank you if you give them a tip. Quite frankly, I don't trust leaving my furbabies with people like that. The first time there didn't seem to be many issues with the grooming other than my puppy was still a little moist on her belly when I picked her up. They actually wanted me to pay for it (at the cashier at the front of then store) before even showing me my dog. How would I even know if they did everything I asked if they don't show my dog to me? (The other PetSmart grooming salon I went to ALWAYS let me check my dog out before making me pay.) I told her I wasn't paying until she gave me my dog, so she finally went and got her. About a year later, I went in to get my two huskies' pads shaved. I had called the previous day asking if I needed to make an appointment for that, and they said no and that it should only take 10 minutes for both of them. I asked when a good time to come in was, and they said noon, but to call about a half hour ahead of time to make sure they weren't too busy. So the next day I called at 11:30 to see if I could bring them in, and they said yes and that the girl who would shave their pads would be there at noon. I got there a few minutes before noon, and when I told them I was there to get my huskies' pads shaved they told me that I would have to wait for the girl to get back at 12:30. So I waited quietly while I heard them complain about different customers, their dogs, their scheduling, and to me that other customers were "scared to come inside the salon with my big dogs". The girl who was supposed to do the grooming for my dogs came back from lunch, was filled in about my dogs by her coworker (she didn't bother to talk to me about it), and then took them one at a time to the table. By this point I wasn't comfortable leaving my dogs there with them so I stayed. I wasn't necessarily trying to watch her like a hawk because I didn't want to make her nervous, but she really didn't seem confident in what she was doing and she took way longer than 10 minutes. I'm still confused what took her so long because she didn't do a very good job. Needless to say, I won't be going back to this PetSmart for grooming. read more

This is a review of the grooming salon... And let me say that I have extremely high standards and consider my fur babies my own children.. I have had a great experience with the grooming salon. I have three dogs that come to the salon and Angel is amazing! She is witty and makes sure to tell me up front any concerns or problems she encountered when grooming my babies. I have one that is most definitely a handful and she makes sure to take care of her and gives me the best customer service every time I take them in. We frequent this grooming salon often and I haven't had a major problem yet. Angel and Jennifer are fantastic and know my babies by name. Those little things like that are what set them apart and keep me going back. I ask questions and make sure I explain what I want, but I never have any issues in terms of getting my ideas across when it comes to a haircut there for the babies. Friendly environment for the most part. Everything's great besides the aquatic section. Petco never has acaras readily available so I decided to swing by petsmart and as usual, all of their cichlids have ICH. I've bought a blood parrot cichlid from them before which also had ich beyond healing and it seems like they just don't care enough to do anything about it and carry on selling people sick and dying fish. I've pointed out 2 dead flowerhorns and the fact that almost every cichlid has a severe case of the disease. Their response was "oh... yeeeaaahh..." and awkwardly walked away. Two other times I've pointed out their sick fish, an older employee said "yeah we just received these fish and they showed up already ill" (as if I hadn't seen the fish before and he is just used to using that excuse) so I asked why they're proceeding to sell sick fish to which they answered "they're healthy enough to fight it off on their own now"...... this disease is highly contagious and could wipe out my entire community tank had I not been wiser and noticed the illness.. totally unprofessional of them to sell such low quality fish and put the fish I already own in danger. I now either go out of my way to drive to the east side petsmart or pay a bit more for petcos much healthier fish. I'm giving them 2 stars because the environment is welcoming (besides the know it all older aquatics dude... don't try to school me on fish when you're okay with selling sickly dying fish to everyone in Bakersfield) and from what I've heard the groomers and vet there is awesome..... just do go for the fish‍ read more

Yes, we were greeted with a hello by the cashier-which is nice- yet when I walked over to the grooming window to look at the 'clients', one male groomer was pulling on a goldendoodle's fur so much that she kind of snapped at him. Bad stuff. The dog's human companion watched from afar;if the dog saw her she would 'go wild.' This place has everything we need for our dogs and our fresh water tropical fish. Everyone is helpful and greets you as soon as you walk in the door. I have two little Dogs and I brought them into the store for a puppy bath.. When I was waiting, I saw a girl grooming a dog and I don't know if it was me but she was really rude to the dog . The dog was terrified and needed to be comforted and she pushed the dog aside and put a cone collar on the dog . But I don't know if I would leave my dogs there for a grooming . I may have to find somewhere else . When I saw my dogs they were clean, fluffed and soft but when I was checking them in, in the beginning the young lady was very rude , talking to the ladies behind her and not answering my questions . She became even more upset when I told her that my dogs are drooling because of car sickness . She picked up my dogs and carried them away from her . I have visited this PetSmart for 3+ years know. Since I got my husky Luna, I absolutely love this store. This has always been my #1 go to place for any of my baby's needs. Not only do they have everything I may need, they are always willing to help if I need anything. They treat my baby with so much love and even though she's a brat they all show they care for her. I've taken the training courses there with Destiny and she is amazing! The best to help you and your pet out with training. Went today to see the selection of Betta fish and saw that all if not 90% of the Bettas were very unhealthy and half were dead. The marimo moss that I love to put in my Bettas tanks are in poor condition don't waste your money. Pet Co on Rosesale has a much better selection and sells healthy fish that are worth the price also a lot of the dog toys and beds and things were dirty covered with dust and would probably bring fleas or other living things into your home. read more

This was the worst experience ever when having our dog groomed. It's like someone was on their first day of the job. Our dog has uneven hair all over and they didn't trim short areas we were very specific about. Nails for example are still way too long and our dog still has hair growing over her eyes. To add insult to injury, they charge about $20 more than other well known professional groomers here in town. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! read more

I have been bringing my baby here for over 2 years now and I have to write about the grooming salon. There is one woman there (I don't know her name, tall, thin chick) who by far shines and does an excellent job with my pet. However, this is about the 3rd time I have gone when the staff is rude (because they're busy) AND THEY DO NOT PERFORM THE SERVICES PAID FOR. Every time we go we get the Pawdicure Plus which is supposed to be teeth, nails and ears and I ask for glands but now again that I've had another employee ONLY do the nails and do them the bare minimum of quality at that. Why pay for this package when I can save half the money and only ask for nails? I take my dog every 6 weeks so there is no excuse why they can't take them shorter like they have when I've had the other groomer. As long as her quicks are short I expect her nails to be short. Not half assed so I have to bring her in 3 weeks instead. So much for that. I guess I'll have a stinky mutt dragging her butt on the carpet til next time. Lame. read more

So our first trip to the groomer was great, however this second trip was not! I made an appointment, which in itself was a pain. It took forever because the girl couldn't hear me from all of the noise in the background. It was very frustrating to have to spell my name literally 8 times! Then she couldn't find us in the computer. She kept asking if I was sure we had been here before. So we arrive early and it appears to be a little chaotic. Very loud. It took awhile before we were helped. again, she couldn't find us in the computer and asked if we had been here before. Our beagle was very nervous, as he was last time when the guy sat with him petting him, however this time, they just dragged him in the back. We were told it would be 2-3 hours because they were very backed up. 4 hours later, we still hadn't heard form them, so I called. They were just trimming his nails. I could hear the woman working on him in the background. When I asked about him by his name, she asked is that the beagle? Really you've had him for 4 hours and you don't know his name?? She was yelling at him and said that he wasn't cooperating and it would prolly be another 10 minutes. I drove over there immediatley b/c I was ready to kick some butt. The girl said that he wouldn't hold still and he was misbehaving and he kept biting her, so that it took 2 people to trim his nails and they were unable to grind them down like I asked. He has never had a problem before. He is one of the sweetest dogs ever and he has never tried to bite anyone before. When he saw us, he couldn't get away from her fast enough. On the way home he say in my lap shaking the whole time. I don't know what she did to my little guy, but I won't be taking him back. read more
