I cannot thank The Dog Haus enough! Pictured are Natasha and Jasper ,two sweet pups belonging to low-income seniors who were in desperate need of a spa day. The Dog Haus didn't hesitate to step in, giving them a thorough cleaning and beautiful haircuts. Their owners were beyond happy and so grateful for their makeovers. The Dog Haus is the only grooming shop I fully trust, not just for my own pups, but for others as well. It's also the only shop I've ever walked into that actually smells clean! If you closed your eyes, you wouldn't even know dogs were being bathed there. The day before our appointment, they called to confirm. When I arrived with Natasha and Jasper, they took the time to explain exactly how their services worked and asked detailed questions about the haircuts I wanted. To my surprise, they finished quicker than expected, and both dogs came out looking absolutely gorgeous complete with a bandana and a flower. I can't recommend The Dog Haus enough. My dog really likes coming to the Dog Haus, and they do a great job grooming. My only complaint is that they advertise "Walk ins Welcome" but they actually do not ever allow Walk ins. I think they should remove the advertisement from the front of their business so it doesn't falsely advertise their services. it's quite disappointing to arrive when they open for a "Walk in" and then be turned away. other than that, I really like them! read more

Excellent service. Carmen is awesome and she truly loves all dogs. Jax, my Dobbie, was very happy when he was picked up soo much that he didn't want to leave. He wanted to run back inside when we exit the building. He left clean and with a shinny coat. New groomer for our dog Tucker and I am very pleased with the outcome. Upon recommendation from a fellow pet parent we decided to try out this relatively new place. The location is easy to find and get to and for us is convenient for Saturday appointments while we are on that side of town. It had been awhile since our pup had gotten groomed so we knew they had their work cut out for them. After the basic intake questions and going over the cut we wanted they took him to their fenced off area instead of kennels. They quoted us about an hour and a half to two hours and it took right about two hours to get him done. Our pup looked great and we were told that his usual moments of grouchiness pertaining to certain parts of the process were actually not problems at all. No nipping during front paw nail trims, which is surprising! We will definitely be using their services again and highly recommend them! read more

Took my two giant schnauzers here for the first time today and I am impressed. They asked questions about my dogs to get to know them and I really appreciate that. My old groomer never did that. I took my little old lady there, but NEVER again. Called to pick her up and almost didn't recognize her. She's a havapoo and her ears were always long and silky. This time they shaved all of the hair off her ears and the rest of her body was a total mess. John told me her ears were so matted there was nothing they could do but shave them. He brought out a bag of hair which was supposedly his was of showing me how matted they were. I was in shock and didn't show my disgust at what they did. When he handed my baby to me she peed on me This has NEVER happened before. On the ride home she shook and cried. It took 2 weeks before she returned to normal. John left 2 messages on my phone trying to "explain" why they shaved her and, said it is their policy to call before shaving like that. Well, I NEVER received a call and I NEVER would have authorized it. Although John denied it, I still believe she was mistreated by the groomer. Jessica always groomed her, but this time John kept saying, "he" and when I asked, John said Jessica was, "back there, but didn't do the grooming". At the very least my money should have been refunded! It should also be noted that they say they don't cage the dogs. While they do have 2 play yard's which are visible when you walk in, there are cages in the back. Twice my baby was retrieved from a cage....I followed them to retrieve her, so this is a fact that cannot be denied. Carmen is a wonderful, super nice, caring person, but John is a flat out liar! One of his messages said he thought the groomer had called for permission to shave, but his words and actions when I picked up said differently. I took my dog here to be groomed for the first time. I just love the owner, Carmen. She was so warm and inviting and full of knowledge. She genuinely cares about every animal that comes in there. This place had such a different drop off experience than I've had at our previous groomers. It was nice and quiet- and clean! They greeted my dogs very kindly and put them in a large play yard area with toys. This is where they spent all of their time while not being groomed, which was comforting. They have a multi-dog discount, and a punch card discount promo. Only reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is that it took a tiny bit longer than anticipated (5 hours) and they forgot one small thing on one dog - they were very apologetic and said to bring him back at no charge. Took my Sheepadoodle here in October. He was there for approximately 8 hours and when he was picked up they said he "injured himself ". After multiple vet visits and a few thousand dollars, we had to put him down due to nerve and severe neck damage. We called the following day and an honest answer was never given. I absolutely love this place. When we were adopting cats, they were so accommodating. Got us in either the day of or the next day which is uncommon for cat grooming! My dog had never been to a groomer & we decided it was time. I didn't know where else to start besides here on Yelp and thanks to the great reviews, we decided to give it a try. It was 100% worth it! Not only was the staff friendly & helpful, the place was clean, they have doggie play pens and sale food & treats. Since it was Mollys first time seeing a groomer, the lady at the front desk had the groomer come out to meet Molly and we discussed how I would like her to look. They had options showing different lengths and said due to her age (10yrs) that they would start with her paw pads and face, and if she did well, then they would continue with her cut. I appreciated them taking the time to discuss her look and behavior with me to ensure we had the best possible experience and they did not disappoint. Am fostering a dog from the City of Bakersfield Animal Shelter. He was in need of a bath and some grooming. Took him to The Dog Haus, the owner John was very accomidating and the groomer A J did a great job on him even tho he was not cooperative. A J groomed my previous baby and she always does a great job. I am so happy she is close to my home now. Will be taking my foster to The Dog Haus again as long as he is with me. We've brought our mixed breed here quite a few times and we love how great she looks! She is always so excited to go here as well, never shows any sign of stress as we walk in, which she would do at her previous groomer, so that's a plus. The groomer always asks how we want the cut and when we pick up she lets us know if there were any issues, which there rarely are (it was because we let her grow out too much and don't brush her). Yes, it's a little pricier than our previous groomer but the fact that I can get an appointment in the same week and don't have to wait 4-6 weeks and the facility is CLEAN! They really take pride in their business and you aren't smacked in the face with a dirty dog stench as you walk in. I would highly recommend. read more

This was my first time taking my dog here and its the worst hair grooming my dog ever got. First, i have a mini schnauzer and when telling them how to cut his hair, we specifically said we wanted a schnauzer cut, which, if you know what schnauzers look like, you know they have a skirt bottom and a long beard. I told them i didnt want the skirt but to not touch the beard. When i pick him up, his beard is completely gone. He looks horrible. His cut is horrible. Long patches everywhere. I've cut his hair better and im not even a professional. Then they try to blame it on miscommunication saying we told them to trim his beard. We would never say to chop his beard off. They said it was a schnauzer cut. Seems to me they have never seen a schnauzer. Worst dog grooming ive ever had read more
