Store had good markdowns but as for grooming for cats, I wouldn't recommend the price of 60 dollars for an unfinished shave. My cat became hostile towards the groomer after nicking too close to the skin. Thankfully the knots on his back are gone but left with uneven hair and a couple bald spots. When it comes to pet stores you have to have a wide variety on stock, knowledgeable staff, clean environment and care about animals. As many of you may know by reading my reviews I am a father of five but what you probably didn't know is I have two dogs, three cats, one snake and five fish tanks! So value really has to be there. I can say without a doubt you can find really good deals here. Not to mention they always have stuff on their clearance rack. There are always deals on fishes. Downsides are their everyday prices are kind of a little on the higher end and sometimes the associates can be a little hard to find but go up to the register and they will call someone to help you! read more

They have amazing customer service here and the store is always clean. I bought a reptile cage and it was missing a piece. They gave me the missing part without me taking apart the entire cage that our lizard was already in. I just wish the had better stock of the small crickets we need to feed our lizard. read more

Took my puppy to get a trim n she is completely terrified when I received her back from them. She is completely cut when I asked for a simple trim. I was baffled on how they left her. Best place to adopt a cat!! We adopted both our cats here and Diane (I think that is her name) is so nice and friendly. All the cats/kittens come from shelters around the high desert. The store staff is really helpful in finding things around the store. It gets busy but the employees are always helpful. They do have dog training and the store can be busy on the weekend mornings due to this but it doesn't distract from your shopping. They have pet grooming and a Banfield Pet Hospital both of which we haven't had to use yet but will when the time comes. read more

I hate to have to do this, but the last two times I've been there have been very disappointing. I was there Tues. for crickets and waited 35 minutes for an associate. Also, the first thing that hit me when I walked in the door was the aroma of cat urine. Today I went to purchase a Betta Fish. There were 6 dead Bettas in their little containers on display. I took them to the cash register and no one cared. I know that things die, but that was a bit excessive and it was obvious that they had been dead for quite a while. No animal, not even a Betta fish deserves to be left to suffer, die and rot. Come on Apple Valley Petsmart, do better. I know you can. read more

Never had a problem with the groomers until I last took my dog two days before Christmas. It's understandable that they might have been busy days before Christmas but that is not on excuse for treating our pets bad. My dog came home very aggressive and scared that someone would hit him. My dog is one of the most loving dogs you can ever meet, always hyper and wanting to play with everyone. My mom also took her dog there the same day and her dog came home depressed and scared. My wife also witnessed one of the groomers treating one of the dogs very bad and making it cry with no remorse. I've taken my dogs multiple times before and never had a problem but after this last visit I will never take my dog there again. read more

Ok so the only reason I'm even giving them 2 stars is because as far as dog and cat stuff they're good . But I'm absolutely disgusted in how they keep some of their reptiles. Chameleons are difficult animals to care for to begin with and you'd expect a store that sells them to have the proper set up. They keep them in a overly humid (extremely small ) glass enclosure which is a sure was for them to get a respiratory infection .. not to mention they had a bowl of water ... chameleons don't drink water like that they drink dew from plants or running water so unless they're misting the cage 4 times a day I'm sure that lizard is not healthy... to top it off when I simply went to mention it to one of the workers they automatically got defensive. I am very disappointed at this place, i waste hundreds of dollars in this store monthly but i will no longer be shopping here . Today me and my family went to buy a few items for our pets and my boys went to buy fish. While my kids were looking at the fishes Jannette asked if they had any questions and my kids said no and before she walked away she told them to press the button for assistance when they were ready , they pushed the button for assistance once they were ready. Then janette came back and instead of helping my kids she went straight to help out another lady that had just gotten there , i seen that my kids were taking long and i went to go see what was going on and my boys told me what had happened and i told them we should just go to another store, which she told my son well she was here first and my son asked her how was she here first if no one else was here when we pressed the button for assistance? Then janette called my son a jerk and of course no one calls my children names so i asked her why she called my son a jerk and she said o no we were talking about someone from work ( why in the hell were they talking about work if you have a line?) so yes i called her a bitch and a lot more. So i talked to another worker that was there which witnessed them pressing the button but at that time she was busy helping someone else but once she was done helping out her client she walked away when she could've helped my boys but of course she had to cover for her friend and said that she actually turned of the assistance button (for what reason? Who knows) then my son said he heard Jannette telling the customer that she was going to make sure they get us out of the store. Now this is not the first time Jannette gives us or other customers attitude. Every time we go she has a confrontation with someone because of her shitty attitude!!! On Monday, September 26, 2022, I took my Dachshund Chihuahua Mix to Petsmart for grooming. My dog got the Top Dog Plus groom that included upgraded shampoo, conditioner, teeth brushing, scented cologne, etc. I also asked to cut the nails. It's been a week and a half since I took my dog to get groomed and noticed that they didn't shave the hair from the paw pads. I gave a call to the grooming department and luckily I was able to talk to the person who groomed my dog. When I was talking to the groomer I wanted to see what the Top Dog Plus package included and why my dogs paw pads were not shaved out as I thought it was part of the package. The groomer stated, "Our grooming location is instructed to not shave Dachshund paw pads unless it is instructed by the owner to get the paw pads shaved." I told the groomer that I have taken my Dachshund mix to other Petsmart locations and I have NEVER instructed a groomer on what they can or cannot do to my dog because I know they will clean up the paw pads. The groomer asked if I would like a side note upon cleaning the paw pads for future grooms with my Dachshund and I said, no because Petsmart groomers know to clean up the paw pads but I will remind the Apple Valley location because I guess they need to be told what to do. read more

It took 25 minutes and three asks for help to get nothing more than a face full of attitude from Elizabeth and this other white bitch (I'm white too! No racism here) telling us that two IDENTICAL boxes, one that was done being unpacked, and the other specifically to sell for pets; giving attitude the whole time, told us how the one that's being sent to the trash "isn't safe" for the cat to just be transported out of the store to the car; but yet the SAME box for 12$ is perfectly safe. sorry but go FUCK YOURSELF, find a real job that you don't hate, and maybe learn to be customer service oriented. Came here for grooming for my parents' 40+ lb dog who has never been to a groomer before and as a rescue she has severe anxiety. I myself had anxiety thinking about how everything would go when I took her in since some of the other reviews here weren't super promising. But I figured I would be with her and at least outside if anything went wrong. She's a very difficult dog and hates water and hates drills and the like. I was very lucky to have Summer groom Sweetie. She had just a bath and the nail grind. Sweetie was very anxious when she came in and I was very worried about her lashing out at Summer or the team but after an hour she was done and Summer didn't make me feel bad or seem annoyed by Sweetie's behavior and Sweetie even seemed to have warmed up to her which is hard for her to do. She smells great and her nails are rounded perfectly for her to play with my other dog safely. Would highly recommend Summer, and also want to note that she has a calm voice with dogs as to not scare them. Thank you! read more

The Grooming staff is great! I lost my regular private groomer and had anxiety about a corporate groomer. The truth is they have strict policies and I actually like that. My Maltese has a very chic hair cut so I just had to be very specific and try a few groomers. Find one you like and stick with them. I scheduled an appt for my dog n asked the lady for my 4 month old puppy to get a hair cut she didn't explain she was too small for a full cut so when I went inside the day of, another lady explained she didn't recommend a full hair cut due to her puppy hair so I just asked for a small trim after trying to explain this and being interrupted twice she kept insisting a wash n and nail cut. I didn't want to keep going back n fourth with her so I said that's fine. I come back with my dog shaved and her hair fully cut n to find out it would cost me $51 for my puppy that's about 5 pounds $51 for a full cut when I wasn't explained the price in the beginning. As a business I really would consider the staff some customer training for the customers to fully know pricing before you take their babies in to ensure them what they are going to do to them.I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I took my large german Shepard mixes here and when i got my dogs home i noticed one of them had a HUGE gash on his back, i pay close attention to my pets, they are my babies! and he didn't have this before he left. On top of this incident all the groomers there act like they HATE their lives, they are rude,dry and don't seem to care....i mean these arnt just pets these are peoples children (families) if i could give them a negative star i would. I would like to thank Leslie, my groomer. I have taken my dogs to be groomed several times and Leslie has taken care of both of them each time. I still wonder what she does to grind my Dobi's nails cause he won't sit still for me long enough to touch them. Both of my dogs are rescue dogs and my Dobi was abused by his previous owner so he doesn't trust very easily but he runs right to Leslie when we take him in there. As long as Leslie is there I will continue to take my big boys in to see her. read more

Went to the store in Apple Valley Ca to purchase my daughter a crested gecko while at the store the service was horrible. No one was willing to help us get everything we needed to take care of our new pet so with my handy dandy smart phone and google we did the best we could. Well a week after having our little friend that my 9 year old daughter got for her birthday and is now extremely attached to he seems to be sick. So now that this animal is part of our family we are freaking out and want to make sure he is ok. My wife being the amazing women she is hurry's to our local petsmart in search of help and advice. When she arrives to the store she is lucky enough to run into the on site store manager. Perfect, my wife thinks she has the most knowledgeable person to help her well guess what wrong! The store manager automatically expresses that she has no clue about reptiles, now how is it that a store "manager" in charge of living animals has no clue? So with that being said I am at the conclusion that every reptile in this store is not properly cared for! Anyways back to our gecko (Stickers) he is at home suffering from Malnourishment which obviously started at our wonderful and oh so very professional "petsmart" that doesn't have a clue about reptiles! My wife comes home with 80$ of medicines thats supposedly going to make Stickers all better. We gave him the medicine as directed by our professional and very well "trained" manager and well guess what, poor stickers passed away about an hour after. So thank you petsmart for putting such highly trained and qualified or should I say worthless and incompetent individual into your stores so that you can bless families with heart ache and disappointment with the neglected animals that you sale. read more

I'd give this store 0 stars if I could. I booked a appointment for curbside salon. They told me to go inside, so I didn't mind and I went inside. Once I got in there I rang the bell for scheduled appointments. A employee named Shareice or Mira came out and told me with much attitude in her tone " you can't come in. Wait in the waiting area until we're done assisting the family." So I patiently waited until the family left. I rang the bell again. The employee at the desk looked at me then went back to what she was doing. So I went back to waiting think they'd call me when they were ready. 35 mins pass by of me sitting in the waiting area with my toddler and puppy. At this point I went to the manager who didn't help because I still ended up waiting an other 15 mins. Once I picked up my puppy. I rang the bell so I could be let in just in case they had an other family in there. The same employee Shareice come out and says impolitely " you can just cone in you know " while rolling her eyes. My fur babys have been going to the pet smart grooming in Apple valley for as long as this location was opened. Never had difficulties until now! We get the usual bath and brush for my baby's, I usually use to go with a very nice girl that no longer is available at this location. Last time I went in, there is a newer bather named Leslie who always answers the phone with a very dry and rude tone! When I came in to leave my baby's they booked me with her. This is the second time and as soon as I get in I notice she is sitting down everytime I have dropped my baby's off, she proceeds to checking in my baby's without checking like the other girls do, she runs off to the back with my dogs very rude person! Leslie dogs not make me feel like my pets are safe, she looks and act under the influence of some type of drug or medication. I stay and shop around for a while and notice her in the front sitting down while my pets are no where in sight????..... Time passes I get the call that they are ready and again she sounds like she hates her job and can care less about making me feel that my pets are safe! My dogs came out still wet and had mud all over as if she just sprayed them down with water. The nails were not properly cut. And they smelled awful! My pets looked as they had been traumatized shaking, my pets are very happy and lovable animals! I don't know what she did but this day something changed in my fur baby's! Pet smart should really screen their employees for drugs because this girl is definitely on something. I stayed and watched her sitting for a while while my baby's were no where to be found! Worst experience my baby's had ever suffered. Hours after my pets still seemed frightened and shaking when we got home. I will never have my baby's in that pet smart again. Pet co is our new friends!
