This rating is on the grooming salon only. I had an appointment for my dog to get a bath and a hair cut ( much needed btw). We are new to the area so I used my Navigation on my phone and it took me to a spot on Lone Tree Way that is an In Shape workout place...lol...(never trust those gps's). I called to get the address and I was 12 minutes late when I called for the appt. Lady said your groomer didn't think you were coming so they took someone else. WT??? Then she said you only have 30 minutes from time of appointment to show up. I said I couldn't be far and said I am only 15 min late and with a rude voice said "actually you are almost 20 minutes late now, hold while I ask the groomer" and I waited on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up....ugh!!! I was so frustrated by that point I was afraid they wouldn't treat my baby right if I took her in then. I have been all over to different Petsmarts and was never talked to in such a way. I have taken my two small dogs for grooming here three or four times since we moved here. Was always pleased with results. But I won't be going there any more. Today I had to book one dog for noon and the other one for 6:30. When I went to pick up the dog who was groomed at noon, they gave me a bill for both dogs' grooming. When I said I didn't want to pay for the dog who hadn't been groomed, the cashier called over another woman who checked with grooming and said the bill couldn't be split. I said I wouldn't pay for services not completed and she offered to groom my 6:30 appointment right away if I would bring her in. When I went home to get my other dog, my husband was not happy with my experience and said our other dog was not going in for grooming. When he got to the store, a different manager was on duty and she took care of splitting the bill. I won't be taking my dogs there any more mainly because of the way they ask me to pay the bill before they give me my dog. I don't get to see if I like the cut they did before they want payment. Another lady got her dog and her bill at the same time. She was white. I am a darker skinned Asian person. I feel discriminated against by their asking me to pay before I get to approve of the services. I won't be using PetSmart for grooming nor for pet food. read more

The worse service, DJ the cashier was rude on my 1st visit...He was complaining that the other two ladies were off. You could tell by his tone, body language and the look on his face he didn't want to be there...My reason for going there was to purchase a gift card for my groomer...once I returned home I noticed that there was no card attached to the piece of paper. So I called the store and spoke with Jenna who said to come in with my receipt and she would match it to the 2-3 cards they had laying around. So i go back in, DJ still in the same place, still mad at the world. I tell him my problem, he says it was attached, maybe I left it in the bag, maybe in my purse...but " i gave it back to you attached". Well I purchase a lot of gift cards, never seen a store that has to pull card off and semi stick it back...Jenna said she would take care of it..but of course customer service was closed until the morning...once I explained that I can't wait until then, she made it work and said she would handle customer service in the morning...thank you Jenna...DJ tis the season for you to ask Santa to bring you a custom service attitude... read more

Quick trip in to buy our dog a new toy/frisbee. They had a variety of selections to choose from. The store was clean and the aisle we visited stocked well. The cashiers were very friendly. Would come back to this location. read more

I have a toy poodle whoom i have brought to get bathed and cut about four times before and im always very happy with their service. Yesterday i took her in for a bath, nails, teeth, ears cut, trim everything! And she looks cute ofcourse not complaining about that but i believe they hurt her in some way. My dog tends to "act up" as they say and i feel maybe that made her groomer do what she did. It seems like her little private area was cut bad because she seems to be in pain since i picked her up yesterday. Shes usually a crazy little active dog and ever since the appointment she will not walk run and is hardly eating. She has only peed once since yesterday and it was on her bed, something she never does. When she makes an attempt to walk she walks as if she was squatting like as if her butt was hurting her. I will not be bringing her here for any service. I strongly believe they hurt her because she is hard to deal with. read more

Took my Dog for a Bath & Grooming on April 4, 2017. When I picked her up she had terrible razor burns on her stomach and behind her legs. Her nails were cut too short since she has been licking her paws and stomach ever since I picked her up. I can't believe she charged me extra for my dog's nappy hair. She suggested that I brush her before a bath even though I do not groom her at home. I brought her in several times before (just as nappy) and none of the other groomers ever mentioned anything like that before. If I were grooming my own dog, I wouldn't have to bring her to a groomer. I pay for the groomer to do the job---not for them to tell me how to do it myself. Just in case my latest comment appears on this blog. It was meant for the Pittsburg location, not antioch. I mistakably posted my latest response for the antioch Petsmart grooming, that was incorrect, it was meant for the Pittsburg location...here it is: I would NEVER recommend the Petsmart in Pittsburg , ca. The gals in the grooming dept. are primarily young and unexperienced little "brats!" They are rude, and not very customer service oriented. I have had issues with several of those groomers with my three little dogs where they just don't listen to what your asking for. There was only one of them that knew what she was doing. My last conversation with the store manager, Victor, was that Monica would be the only one to groom them i the future. Which was fine with me. I called this morning to schedule an appt with her, she put me on hold for several minutes, and finally the new manager came on, only to tell me that he couldn't force Monica to groom my dogs and that she didnt feel comfortable grooming them. Needless to say, i was taken by surprise, since i never knew there was any issue with her. I thought it was very unprofessional that SHE didnt have the courtesy to come back on the phone. I will never frequent a Petsmart store again, and i suggest to give it a second thought before you take your dogs to this groomer. read more

I took my Yorkiepoo,Olive, in today to get her first full groom, when I dropped her off I showed the groomer a picture of exactly how I wanted her hair to be cut, we went over different aspects of the groom, and she said "she wouldn't be agreeing to something she knew she couldn't do", so I left feeling assured that my fur baby would be in good hands, well 3 hours later, I went to pick her up, she was just finishing getting her nails trimmed, and I noticed that Olive's coat had been butchered. It looked nothing like the picture, she shaved her beard off, and the rest of her coat looked like that of a rat. I asked how long will it take for her hair to grow back, because this is not what we discussed, the lady said couple weeks, and the reason she shaved her down was because she had 2 matts. If you take your time combing and brushing them you can get matts out, it's not up to the groomer's convenience, it's what the owner discussed and is paying for that matters. She should have at least called me to see what I wanted to do about them. The reason I am giving the groom a two instead of a one, is because Olive did smell good and the lady trimmed her nails nicely. Needless to say I will be spending the extra $20 at a different salon, to get the groom I asked for, when Olive's hair grows back. Petsmart just isn't the place for grooming. read more

I've had problems twice with the grooming service. I've been told grooming would take a couple of hours and in turn have had to wait around five hours to get my dog back. Neither time did the groomers call me to tell my my dog was ready. Why? Because when I called to see what the hang up was, they told me she'd "probably" be ready at a certain time assuming I'd show up at that specific time. I guess bad on my part for assuming they'd call when she was officially done. But bad on their part for assuming I'd drive all the way back for a "probably be ready at...." read more

I wish I could write a better review about this location - I guess as with most chains you either get a really good, or really bad experience. I got the really bad kind. Keeping it as simple as possible: our two goldfish died within 4 hours of buying them. The employee working there failed to mention you need to buy water conditioner to make tap water safe. We went back to return them and got conflicting information from both that same employee and another. We were almost sold a fish that would outgrow our tank in a matter of months, and also would not get along with the replacement goldfish. In result of the confusion we simply returned everything and decided to buy elsewhere. We had bought everything with cash but got a store credit card in return. A few days later, I called and ask If I could cash it out instead as we wouldn't be able to do any shopping there (we purchased a salt water tank, and Petsmarts carry little or no salt water supplies). I was told with a manager's approval it shouldn't be an issue at all. Today I went in to complete this transaction only to be harassed by the cashier and treated as though I was trying to swindle them somehow. It was not my fault the previous cashier refunded me incorrectly, and it was DEFINITELY not my fault I chose to buy elsewhere because the employees here were not educated enough in their department. read more

We took one of our dogs there to get a haircut. This was her first time there and everything seemed fine (except for the rude guy who refused to put his cell phone down to help us) until they called for her to be picked up. The lady informed me that our dog had fleas. My reaction was shock because she does not have fleas! She then said the medicine she is on has not been working for other animals and if I wanted to her to put an application of k9 advantix as she is raving that it is the best medication on the market for only $20 more. I hesitate but finally agree to it. We check our other dog and she had no fleas. Our assumption she got it from there. When picking her up we noticed that the floor is literally covered with hair and every station is filthy. We checked our dog and she did NOT have fleas like that lady claimed. The staff is helpful and those who helped me out when I first got my pup really knew their stuff. Unfortunately they don't carry Blue Buffalo treats (but they have a whole aisle of other brands), so I got some organic PB treats instead. They sell high quality food which I'm glad to see. The puppy obedience classes are good as well. Chris was my instructor and she had great advice & was a good teacher. I go here all the time since it's near my home, and they have everything you possibly need for your dog & pets :) read more

Ok so I never write reviews but I had too this time! I took my German shepherd pup to get washed up and get his ears and nails trimmed. They did pretty good at the bath and ears but when they did his nails they brought him out and they put him on the table he got nervous and started to freak out so he was moving a lot and one of the guys with the coloured hair said I can't anymore! moving his arms and he stopped doing his nails so an older lady came to try an calm him down and he did a little and all of a sudden he fell off the table and was hanging from his NECK and the lady LAUGHED! why would you laugh if my 5 month old puppy is hanging like that? That's really unprofessional and the other girl grabbed him a couple of seconds after and they took him down and took him to back and who knows what happened. After I paid the lady asked me "if I was going to breed him" then I said no and she said well get him fixed because his cells are making him act that way when he try to cut his nails! And she asked me if anyone told me to not get him fixed and I said no I'm waiting until he's about one so he will be full grown and she said who told you that and I said the vet and she said just get it done! like cmon you're a groomer I'm obviously going to listen to my vet & I'm pretty sure she knows more than you and plus I'm going to do whatever I want with him please don't tell me what to do with my dog. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO PETSMART!!!! YOU ARE AND WILL BE PUTTING YOUR ANIMALS AT RISK IF YOU CHOOSE TO CONTINUE TO BRING THEM INTO PETSMART. I was a regular/repeating customer up until 10/16/2016 after a very unpleasant experience I had at their on site Banfield Pet Hospital. I own a 5.5 month old German Shepherd who i have taken to visit in their in- house pet hospital due to an illness concern my puppy was experiencing. Upon arrival, symptoms that my dog was undergoing was shared with both the nurse and doctor (vomiting, loss of appetite, not drinking water, diarrhea [light pink/brown], and fatigue) They questioned if she was vaccinated (yes, had series of vaccinations done) and asked what was the last meal she ate and when (salmon mixed with her puppy dog dry food; I home cook all my dogs meals {meat, vegetables & wheat} and mix it with her puppy food to provide optimum health and nutrition; Thursady, vomiting started Thursday night at around 11pm {nearly 3 days}). The doctor immediately frowned upon me for the diet i chose to give my dog and believed that that was the source of her being ill and told me to stop home making food for my dog because it wasn't good for her health and told me I should stick to only dry food or dog food that aims specifically for German Shepherds. Uhhhh.. why?? I did my research and I carefully prepare and cook her food accordingly and ensure to remove unwanted fat and avoid foods that can put my dog at risk. KEEP IN MIND THAT I FIRST BROUGHT HER IN AT 10am not knowing they didn't accept walk-ins so an appointment was made for her to be seen the same day and to return @ 2:30pm. Okay. We return for her apt. and she is then examined and tests are being ran. I then learn that my puppy has PARVO and received NO TYPE OF TREATMENT for my puppy!! I was advised to take her to a 24hr vet hospital for treatment because they said there was nothing they can do for my dog. I requested them to inject her with electrolytes AT LEAST to prevent her from further dehydration and I was told they couldn't because it was not what the doctor recommended and for the reason being it was now closing time. I was given the report of my puppies additional results from the tests that were ran on her (given to me from the nurse) without the doctor reviewing them over with me nor did the nurse. I questioned why I was only being handed my results without some1 going over the results with me and the nurse told me that i could view it myself or that some1 at the 24hr. vet hospital can go over that with me. Seriously? She then asked if i was going carry my dog out or if i wanted a cart to transport her to the car. I asked why I couldn't just walk my dog out because that's the same way she came in.. she tells me because she's contagious and we cant have her walking on the floor. Ummmm.. which means Petsmart was already exposed from the first time i brought her in and having been aware of her diagnosis they neglected to inform the public of this highly contagious disease. After learning the lack of knowledge Banfield Pet Hospital had, learned how poorly they keep and maintain their working environment putting MANY ANIMALS AT RISK for spreading viruses/diseases and no1 would have ever suspected the possibility of it coming from Petsmart so take caution with your animals. For all I know, Petsmart could be the source and reason my puppy was exposed to Parvo due to not practicing better precautions and not ensuring nor enforcing proper and stricter regulations to avoid contact from bad bacteria that can put other animals at risk of infection. I brought my puppy there with me ALL THE TIME. EVEN IF YOUR ANIMAL IS VACCINATED THEY ARE STILL VULNERABLE AND AT RISK FOR INFECTION. This place has terrible grooming services. We tried taking our dog there and he came back shaved to the bone IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER! That's definitely not what labradoodles should look like. The staff is lazy. And instead of taking the time to brush and clean our dog properly, they buzzed way too close to his skin to save time. Our poor dog needed all of this extra bedding outside until his coat came back. read more

I frequent this location, I would say 3X a month, with a young child. For the times I have visited, employees are observed with a careless attitude and/or rude. One woman, I believe is "the dog trainer" and I have observed her in the fish department. I had asked her one day if my young child can visit with a cat, seeing that she was the only employee on the floor. The woman responded with attitude and irritation "Are you going to adopt one?" I said nicely, "Well, no, but she would like to pet one is that possible?" She basically told me that in order to visit a cat, you had to adopt it that day. Hm... Okay so I explained this to my young child. All good right? No. 10 minutes later, I see three young teenage girls in the petting area with another team member, petting cats? Not adopting. Really? Well, how do you all think I had to explain this to my young child? We visited along with the customers, employee and kitten. The employee assisting was kind enough to allow my young child to play with the kitten. The employee was responsive, informative and patient. Very surprising. Eased my worries in terms of customer service. My young child and I thanked her for her time and soon after began to socialize with other customers and their pets. We veer off into the training area to play in an open space with a 4 month old puppy, who seemed to have a grand time chasing toys with my young child and two other younger children who owned the pup. The same bitter woman, angrily appears- indirectly tells me to get out of the pen and "not to use toys because I BOUGHT them myself. With MY own money" Total emphasis in what she bought.No exaggeration. I apologized, recognized the woman pick up a pool noodle and storm out. I showed the kiddies and puppy out of the pen, directed the kiddies to place 2 stuffed animals back where they got it..everyone was out the pen. I admit my child pulled out a blue pool noodle from the training bin, which was wrong. I corrected her for that. But for each time this woman was rude, it was in front of my young child and that I DO NOT appreciate that. It is not like me to bash stores but for as much as I have spent as a "loyal customer' with PETSMART: vet care, dog and rabbit food and pet supplies I expect better customer service. read more

I wish I could rate this store a 0. I have been coming here to get my dog, a cockapoo, groomed for a while. The other day I took my dog here to be groomed and it was the WORST experience I have ever had at a groomer's. My dog is incredibly lazy but very well behaved (there are 3 small children in the house) and he has never bitten anyone. When I picked him up, the guy behind the desk said he bit someone and I was dumbfounded because this has never happened before. I tried to tell the man that they must have made a mistake because my dog doesn't bite, but he brushed me off insisting my dog was aggressive and bit him. I later found out why... When I got home I inspected my dog and found out that they had nicked him and made him bleed, they neglected him because he had poop matted to his tail and rear end, he wasn't bathed, his ears were full of wax, his teeth were not brushed, and his nails were cut to short to the point of where my dog was in pain. I paid for all those services to get done and did they? Of course not. I had to cut the matted poop off of him myself so I went to get the scissors and as soon as he saw me coming he ran and hid under the table-all because I was carrying scissors. My dog then threw up when i was trying to cut the poop off because he was so terrified! I am never going back there even for dog food. They should start doing their jobs before someone sues them or takes them to court. I am very disappointed in the service I received. read more

I was just inside Petsmart in Brentwood waiting to check in my dog for his appointment at Banfield pet hospital. As I was waiting I was watching the grooming salon. This particular older woman with bright RED hair was grooming this little dog. I've seen people groom dogs many times before. My own dog gets groomed too. But this lady was very rough with this poor little dog to the point where I was about to walk inside and tell her to stop. She kept getting frustrated and grunting each time the dog moved. She then kept aggressively grabbing his legs and the dog started screaming and crying. I mean I understand it's not an easy job and dogs do move around and can't stand still. But if this is ur job you should know that and be use to it by know. And not get mad or upset each time a dog moves around. And if u can't handle it then being a dog groomer ISNT THE JOB FOR YOU!! I did complain of course to the manager, But it didn't seem like he really cared. I do NOT tolerate any kind of animal abuse weather it's with my dog or anyone else's! So if you guys take your dog to Brentwood grooming inside Pets Mart either make an appointment for an express grooming which takes only an hour and u can keep an eye on your dog and or be careful who grooms your dogs hair! I've been a few times with our dog for various needs that come along with getting a new puppy. Absolutely everything has been a cluster! I dread going because I know even the smallest task will turn into an event because just getting the attention of an employee is close to impossible as it is to get a clear confident answer from anyone. The front desk for the vet services and especially the grooming salon just do not seem to have any order or management at all. No one seems confident that they know what they are doing, from the girls taking calls or registering, to the groomers and even the Vet. My dog came in just to get her stitches checked which ended up taking 3 hrs, I never got a call, I had to call, and they had no idea what I was calling for, who or where my dog was. I now can see how this happens as the last time I was there for an overpriced hack job of a grooming, the customer service was terrible! They shuffled me around. The front desk and grooming salon resembled an unruly classroom of children with an absent teacher. While waiting to be acknowledged in the grooming salon the employees were Googling how to do a particular cut for a specific breed of dog and discussing rather candidly their lack of knowledge in doing their jobs. I not only witnessed terrible service to all it's customers but even the girls taking incoming phone calls exuded ignorance and impatience. I do not understand how they seem to be so busy or even still have customers. The service is terrible and the product is terrible. I don't feel at ease or confident in buying from Petsmart, receiving advice or services from anyone who works there, or ever taking my business or dog to that circus again. Unfortunately many others I know second my opinion and have had the same disappointing experiences with this company. read more

their grooming department fails miserably. they put my dog up on the platform to cut his nails and he backed himself off the platform and she just kept on cutting his front paws even though his back half was dangling off the platform. i had to yell for her to help him cause he was being chocked by the leash they use to hold his head up on the platform. she helped him back up and laughed it off. i asked her if she could remove him from the platform and cut his nails on the ground. she instead got another person to sit on the platform next to the dog. i thought okay they got this. then they started chatting and when the dog once again fell off the platform they didn't even notice. by the end of my visit, they had FOUR workers surrounding my dog on this platform so he wouldn't fall off and choke himself. they were more interested in talking about how much they dislike their boss then they were in taking care of my dog. every ones boss sucks, take it to happy hour people. read more

I had the worst experience today at the groomers. I went to drop off my dog to get her nail trimmed, as I waited out side the door I could see though the glass window one of the groomers with another dog getting his hair cut an brushed. This girl was violently brushing the dog hair that his skin was lifting off of his head. They had the leash so tight on his neck it looked like he could not breath, not only that but the poor dog was scared an the girl keep pushing him back up where she wanted him. It made me so upset I begin to get chocked up. I walked back in there an asked for my dog back an that I would not have my dog be groomed here if that is how they treat animals. I was horrified on how someone could be so ruff with an animal. Needless to say I we'll never be returning there ever again. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FURE BABYS THERE.
