I never write reviews, yet alone bad reviews... but the grooming dept needs some serious organizational attention. I'm not sure why this keeps happening but at least 5 times I have called and scheduled a simple nail trim only to be told "there's no appointment and unfortunately we can't do it today." It's supposed to be a "walk in" service so I cannot make a reservation online.. and they should just cross "no appointments needed for xxx" on their signage. Love wasting my time driving to non-existent appointments that I shouldn't have to make in the first place. read more

I had a 12:00 PM grooming appointment and called to check on my dog, only to be told that they didn't know his status because his groomer was on lunch and had not entered any notes. Later, I received a call from PetSmart Grooming stating they were very busy and had to service customers who arrived early. I explained that this has never happened before. I always book weekend appointments and have never had my dog returned late. I was then told it would take one more hour to finish his haircut. Almost two hours later, I called again and was told by the groomer, Rubí, that my dog would be ready in 10 minutes, after he had already been there for almost 7 hours. When I arrived, I politely asked if I could be credited something for the inconvenience, and Rubí refused, saying that "on the weekends it's always busy," and still charged me the full amount. Thankfully, her coworker stepped in, vouched for me, and was able to issue a refund. If it weren't for her coworker's professionalism, I would not return for grooming services. The lack of communication, excessive delay, and dismissive attitude from Rubí made this a very disappointing experience. read more

I ran out of gold fish food and went back to buy the biggest container they had in stock. I actually feed the food to my minnows that I have in a pond, they love their breakfast. They always offer some type of deal on fish food and other products. It's fun to see all the dogs people bring along while they shop at this mega store. read more

They share a parking lot with other establishments in the plaza. There are some electric charging stations nearby for those electric cars (tesla). We were greeted when we entered and a staff member came by and asked if we had the app to earn up to $20. There are plenty of selections from kitten/puppy food to adult cats/dogs. Price ranging from $0.99 to $4 a can for cat food. They also have a lot of bed options to choose from. In the end, we saved about $20 and spent $$$ on our cats. I have a two-year-old Goldendoodle and have brought him to this location several times without issue, until our most recent visit. For this grooming session, my dog was seen by a groomer named Liz. While he did have some matting, it was limited to behind one ear and one leg. We also paid extra for a de-matting solution. Importantly, my dog hardly grows hair on his belly, so there was no reason to shave or de-matt that area. After bringing him home, I noticed a severe rash on his belly. He was clearly in pain licking himself constantly and whimpering, which has never happened before. Concerned, I called to speak with the manager to understand why his belly was shaved at all, let alone to the point of causing a rash. Unfortunately, the manager was dismissive. Instead of addressing the issue, she mentioned being friends with Liz and insisted she was "a very friendly groomer" which had nothing to do with my concern. Even more troubling, the manager admitted she had no grooming knowledge and couldn't explain what might have gone wrong. She asked me to email pictures of the rash, which I did. The following day, I received a call from the grooming department lead, who explained that Liz had gone over my dog's belly "too many times," causing the rash. This explanation made little sense to me, considering that area had no matting and minimal hair to begin with. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of accountability. No apology, no ownership of the mistake just defense of a friend and vague explanations. A professional grooming service should be able to acknowledge errors and prioritize the well-being of the pet. To make matters worse, this wasn't the first red flag. Before this incident, my grooming appointments had been canceled three times after being scheduled online due to my dog's breed. If certain breeds can't be serviced by certain groomers, that should be clearly stated upfront. There was once a groomer named Summer who was fantastic with my dog, but she no longer works here. After this last experience, I won't be returning. I had to treat my dog's rash with oatmeal ointments and it took him several days to feel better. I'm sharing this to warn other dog parents, this was an incredibly disappointing and unacceptable experience, and I'll be taking my dog elsewhere going forward. read more

Very pleasantly surprised with Dog Groomer Melinna. She gave a very stylish and practical summer haircut to our 15 year old dog. She was patient and gentle handling our senior dog, with empathy for his age, and she gave him a glowing report for good behavior and was proud of her work. Will definitely go back if we are in the area. I was reluctant to go to Petsmart because a groomer at the Torrance location on Sepulveda was very rough handling our senior dog and claimed he was aggressive - which resulted in a demerit in his permanent record that adds $10 to his grooming fee. read more

This was one of the most heartbreaking, infuriating, and devastating experiences we have ever had with a grooming service -- and it happened right before Thanksgiving, which made it even more painful. We had planned to make our dog look nice and festive for the holiday, but instead, it turned into a nightmare for our entire family. A few days ago (11/23/25), we brought our (14-month-old) large golden doodle to this grooming shop for his second visit. The tall female employee who checked him in (later we were told she might be the boss) was impatient from the very beginning. She briefly mentioned that our dog had some mats and "might need to be cut short," but gave no explanation, no example photos, and simply quoted around $200 without further detail. Because our first visit this grooming shop in August was excellent, we trusted them again. But after few hours, what we received was beyond shocking -- our dog was completely shaved bald, every inch of fur gone, looking like a helpless stray dog in the cold winter. And the worst part: they never called us, despite us leaving two phone numbers. Not a single attempt was made to get our permission. Our dog has no skin issues or parasites -- only some mats that should have been discussed. We were hoping to celebrate Thanksgiving with a beautifully groomed dog... instead, we brought home a traumatized one. When we got home, my child burst into tears, and honestly, we adults could hardly look at our dog without tearing up ourselves. He went from a happy, affectionate boy to being terrified, anxious, and hiding in corners. We had to rush out to buy clothes just to keep him warm. Our holiday spirit was completely destroyed. The next day, when we returned to address the issue, the same tall woman (possibly the boss) remained rude and dismissive. She blamed us for not brushing his coat "perfectly," compared us to customers who come every 2-3 weeks and "pay more," and showed absolutely no empathy. When we asked about the charges, she arrogantly said, and with her leg crossed, "Two hundred is the price for a full shave like this and no style." If not for our first positive experience, we would never have driven so far to come here. (We will be sharing before-and-after photos, including images from the first visit for every parents.) After speaking with other dog owners, we were shocked to learn that many had similar bad experiences and have already stopped coming to this (Alhambra) grooming shop. I had a gift certificate, so I stopped by to pick up some supplies for the pups. The store is spacious, organized, and well stocked with a variety of items to meet your pet's needs. I wasn't quite sure where to find what I was looking for, so I asked an associate for assistance. She was friendly & helpful and pointed me in the right direction. There were only two cashiers on duty, so the checkout line was a bit long but soon a third cashier opened up, which helped speed things along. When I walked in to pick up my own package instead of having it delivered to the car because it was a 24 pound bag of dog food and I'm 71 years old. I had to go in find it myself, because all they had was one lonely cashier up front, no one else in the damn store could come to help. What's the point of having curbside pickup? I made an appointment for my dog last Friday 05/31 to have her groomed and bathed only to have to check in day of and wait 30 minutes after appointment time to be told they can't take my dog because she didn't pass the pre-assessment and she needs more training (can't be treat motivated). Complete waste of my time, my resources, and super insulting. I have a chow-chow, she's very socialized, however the combination of the packed salon and a girl who doesn't know how to handle chows (her pre-assessment included touching the dog from behind without the dog seeing, a big NO for chows) made her very stressed and nervous, when she is already an anxious dog. It's a shame because I've brought my dog here before, granted it's been a few years because I moved and the original groomer left, but I felt comfortable enough to bring her back. I've also been financially unable to afford a grooming for my dog until now, and then this happens. After being turned away by the groomer, I took my dog to the car and asked to speak with a manager. I'm really not one to speak to a manager, nor leave 1-star reviews, but I felt so disrespected as a loyal customer of 10+ years, I wanted to express this. Essentially, I was told by a manager sorry, to reschedule for Monday-Thursday when it is less busy. I work every day but Friday so that's not helpful to me. I also pointed out that if certain breeds are handled better by certain groomers, they should say that note that when booking services. I really made this appointment here out of convenience, and because of this, I will most likely no longer be using services here or shopping here. I started coming here bc Petco is very inconsistent with availability for the type of food my baby eats (Royal Canin Persian Dry kibble). I'm not a fan of ordering online for delivery and like instant gratification -- this chain exceeds that expectation! Typically, I check and order online for Pick Up so I don't waste time driving all the way to Alhambra (20 min or so for me) to potentially not have what I need! They also carry his litter, Feline Pine, and treats that Petco discontinued (Solid Gold Bone Broth topper) which is great to have all our needs under 1 roof. Sometimes I have to go to the Pasadena foothill location but not often. Thank you for being consistent with your product availabilities in store! I'll start by saying in beginners class I was really skeptical of the trainer. I was stubborn from the start and resisted a lot of the corrections I was given. Since applying the corrections my dog has shown great improvement and trust in me. Because of Intermediate I've seen a huge change in my dogs behavior. The trainer is extremely responsive and takes into account all my questions even when I'm asking at inconvenient times(I ask a ton). Not only that when I have an issue with training my dog the trainer steps in and demonstrates for me and makes the instructions very clear. Since starting intermediate I've seen great changes and huge improvements with my dogs behavior towards other dogs, kids, and new people. The trainer has been very good about listening and advocating for our pets as well as building our confidence so that we can be good owners and great leaders for our pets. She often reminds us the importance of training owners in addition to dogs and I couldn't agree more. In beginners I was very hesitant to continue, now after taking intermediate I can say I look forward to training my dog and I do so almost daily because of the positive changes I've seen in my pet.. Now that I have seen changes, my dog is a new and improved version of herself. Do right by your dog and listen the first time. Don't do what I did and make excuses at first. This is a great way to safely socialize your pet and help teach them manners. I think my favorite part is knowing when I allow my dog to socialize with classmates I know that she's safe and everyone in the class is trying their best to socialize their dog and correct behavior. She's surrounded by good influences. Lastly, I don't drive so I wasn't super committed. The trainer was understanding and helped apply the lessons we missed in the next class. Great class! Have been coming here for years since it's the closest pet store to home and PetSmart does the job... 4 stars!!!! Never used grooming services so this review is based more on the merchandise portion of the store. The staff has always been friendly and welcoming at PetSmart; they always say hello when you first walk in and the friendliness continues at checkout. Help and assistance are also easy to get, unless they happen to be really busy. Expect a little wait if you need help in the aquarium section if it's busier than usual. However, I was pleasantly surprised that PetSmart recently added a "Get Help" button in the aquarium area so there's no more need to walk around the store to look for a staff member. Just press the button and a staff member will be right with you. The help button is located in the cricket table right in front of the tank displays. Since the store is huge, there's a pretty big variety and selection of items for all of your pet needs. Yes, online retailers like Chewy make it so much easier to order pet needs merchandise online, but there's nothing like seeing the merchandise up close. If I'm buying dog bed for example, I want to feel the plushness of the dog bed so I cannot just order it online. PetSmart is always clean and organized, but the lighting seems a little too dark. The store would look much better with updated lighting. Finally, there's also plenty of parking since it shares a huge lot with Big Lots, Party City, and Albertsons. read more

Friendly and responsive employees at this PetsMart. I recently adopted my new cat and was picking up Blue Buffalo Adult Indoor Cat Food. Ordering is very easy on the app and is highly recommended. There you can see how much treats you have in dollar amounts and you can also take advantage of the periodic coupons they send. I got a message in the app saying my order was ready for pickup. I was greeted upon arrival and the friendly employee found my order very quickly. It was past 7:00pm, so the curbside pickup was not available. The store was very clean and specials and deals were displayed clearly for all to see. There was enough staff to handle the customers waiting in line. I thought I had written a review for one of the places I frequent but I guess I did not. This is one long overdue review but I only have good things to say. Come here mostly for my lovely cat. I fed him too well that he is a little overweight. Well, he's not overweight, he's at what he is supposed to be. But the vet told me to give him less food so I decided to do that for my cat's health. I only feed him what is the best. Grain free, ingredients and brands that I can trust even if its costly. If I had to, I will eat fastfood just to buy the best food there is for my cat because I love my cat so much. He is my best friend! OK, enough said. I also come here to see the cats at the adoption center. Theyre all too cute, I hope one day, I can run a shelter for the stray cats. That's on my bucket list. But with covid-19, all these cats are now sent to foster homes I believe which is really really good for them. Hopefully their foster mom/dad ends up keeping the cat(s) so it can be their forever home! Back to what I had to say, every time I have questions looking for specific items, they are very helpful. They helped me find the items I needed many times. Now I know where they all are. PetSmart also price matches to Chewy so if you see a big price difference, ask to price match during checkout. No longer coming to this store for grooming services. This is the only location that has charged me for "dematting" (cutting not dematting) one little tail knot on my dog. I would understand if his hair was super matted but it never gets to that point. It was definitely not worth $95 for my little cockapoo. Plus the floor was horrible. It looked like no one cleans all the hairs after they are done. I've never seen other locations leave all the hairs until end of day. On top of that, the sales associate at the register took his sweet time in ringing me up because he was talking to his female coworker. No acknowledge or nothing! read more

First time we took our Bernice mountain dog I had to return him the following day to complete his grooming properly. I talked to a "supervisor "and she assured me she would could fix it, she completed his grooming in an acceptable manner. I left a 12 dls tip I know I have a big dog and is a lot of work, I wish I would have being prepared to leave a better a better tip. I took him his third time and I went to make an appt personally. From my first experience. When we were in the process of booking the appt. The groomer approached the person making the appt and said the only time I have available is 8 am nx Friday, I said ok since she said she did mot have no other slots available. My husband took our pet to his appt on Friday at 8 am, he called me and said the door was locked after a while he learned there was a bell on the door, because the store was closed. When he got in he had to deal with the groomers attitude " I was just about to cancel your appt ., you are late". The groomer called me an hour later to tell me there was going to be an additional charge because he had a skunk smell. (Our pet got sprayed by a skunk when we took him to the back yard late one night. We have bathed him at home multiple times. The first time I took my pet I provided them with specific instructions to call me for anything and not to call the other number listed, which is my son's number and he is out of the country. Later on, They called my son again stating there was going to be another additional charge because his hair was tangled, he said that was fine but told them to call me. I waited and waited to receive a call to pick him up but I did not receive a call so I decided to go pick him up at 3pm (we called multiple times and we could not get through). I got there and I I asked how come I was not called, the lady said she did no know. I proceeded to The cashiers to pay for the additional fees and I asked a question to the person releasing my dog and she said in an unfriendly dry way " I do not know his groomer is gone" ( This time, I was ready to give a nice tip to make up..., but I saved my money instead: Tip= means to to insure proper service... ) I went home and I learned my pet was dehydrated he kept drinking water the rest of the day. His grooming showed, the person in charge was not having a good day. The following day, on sat. My son called and told me he received a long voicemail from the groomer stating our pet behaved very bad and that was the reason why she kept him from 8 to 3 pm. Are you serious? I am sorry for not leaving you a tip according to your expectation at the beginning, nonetheless, I wish you would have the courtesy to talk to me as I had instructed you, instead you communicated with my son that is out of the country and did not know anything. I'm assuming You were unhappy and frustrated, you left without notifying me to pick up my pet. You did not provide him with water for the time he was under your care, that is so sad and unacceptable. I'm sad to give this pet store a two-star rating because usually stuff is decent. But today in the freshwater section, there were so many dead fish I gasped out loud. Everything else seems well stocked but I don't have any mammals or birds, just reptiles and fish. The staff is friendly, but I was sad because there was no aquatic turtle food available. Only tortoise food and bearded dragon food in the reptile food area. I still like this store though because they usually have cats for adoption. But I had to leave empty-handed today. read more

Dream is literally a dream (⁠ ⁠⁠⁠⁠) she is so knowledgable and really cares about dogs and setting them and their pawrents up for the best life possible. I thoroughly enjoy taking classes with her and look forward to it every week. I knew from the first day that I was gonna take as many classes/courses with her as possible.
