Best fika spot you can find in all of Stockholm. You don't know what "fika" is? You are missing on some important Swedish culture information. Fika is a break to drink coffee or tea and eat something, but more than that is time to socialize, interact and talk to other people. Besides being a noun is also a verb and you should "fika" with yours friends, family, date or whatever. Kanelbulle (which is sort of a cinnamon roll) is yummy and fresh, and if you are into eating something savory don't worry they have nice freshly baked butter buns and other options. To drink you can opt between tea, coffee of some bottled juices. This is not their speciality, coffee here is only "ok", but it doesn't matter when you do have a bite of that delicious bulle. Staff is very nice and gentle. And I even had the chance to talk to the baker myself, who is a very friendly guy and gave us some free pastries. Good job Petrus, you are my favorite spot to have fika in Stockholm.

Liked by some respected palates as Stockholm's best bakery it was for Breakfast on Monday that a visit was made to Bageri Petrus, the baker visibly rolling Dough at a front window and Croissants proofing behind him a good sign even before opening the door to a jolly "Hej Hej" from two young ladies at the counter. Located near the center of Södermalm and likened to the great bakeries of France despite Petrus' relatively young age, limited indoor and outside seating making it more a true Cafe than some of Sweden's Artisan Bageris, guests entering will soon have their vision saturated by items on racks and behind glass, several Swedish classics unavailable and instead replaced by loaves of Bread that rotate daily plus Brioche, housemade Jams and Croissants. Open weekdays at 07h00 and Saturday an hour later with Sundays offering a day of rest it was after waiting in a queue of locals en route to work that five items plus a cup of Coffee were selected, the decision to start with Petrus' Cardamom Bun a good one as it allowed a few bites of Butter and Spice to wash over the palate before setting the rest aside and "saving the best for last." Moving next to a Butter Croissant, undoubtedly the best amongst a limited sampling in Stockholm thanks to a crisp Shell around insides light and wispy, it was admittedly surprising that the Pain au Chocolat offered equally light layers despite a dense core still warm and slightly molten. No doubt benefitting by early arrival, the Morning Bun also warm but a little one dimensional thanks to so much Sugar, it was with expected tanginess that Brioche topped in Rhubarb Custard made lips pucker before the mouth adjusted, a return to the Kardemumma Bulle momentarily making one ponder sticking around to sip Coffee while enjoying another.

Swoon swoon swoon! Definitely add a fika break at Petrus to your Sweden to do list. This beautiful bakery is full of European charm and some of the tastiest pastries I've ever had. Order a couple coffees and a kanelbullar to cozy up with during the colder months or enjoy outside when it's warm outside. We were here during an unseasonably warm week and were able to hang out at the tables on the sidewalk out front. They only offer light roast coffee which I don't usually love, but it was actually perfect. Everything about this place was completely dreamy and special. Though I'm actually not sure which neighborhood Petrus is in, this is a good spot to check out if you're staying in either Gamla Stan or Hornstull and wanting to do some exploring between the two. It's less than a two mile walk from Gamla Stan to Horstull or vice versa--you could also take the train one way if you wanted to cut down on the walk time. There's a really beautiful park about a block away that would be perfect for picnics--the neighborhood itself is also super walkable and has some cool vintage shops. Their are a lot of "chain" feeling bakeries in Stockholm, especially in Gamla Stan, but this is not one of them. I'll be dreaming of you, Petrus!

I've had kanel & kardemummabullar from Stockholm's well-frequented spots, like Fabrique, and lesser known, like Saturnus, and Petrus takes the cake (or dare I say bread) everytime. If you are arriving from the south (i.e. arriving from Södra station), try to not get lured by Johan & Nyström's; go their for your caffeine fix at some later time, surely, but at the moment, direct all attention to Petrus. But try to not walk past it; because the café is what Swedes would refer to as "mysigt" (cozy), you could unknowingly walk past it and stride into Mariatorget. Upon entering, you will be tasked with placing an order from the all equally eye-catching buns. Reassuringly, know that you can do no wrong, but if it's your first time (and one of your first times having a fika), the Beginner's Guide to Fika (if there were one) would recommend a kanelbulle, or a cinnamon bun. It's sticky, it's doughy, it's sweet, and the cinnamon is all there, with a kick of cardamom. It's best complimented by a cup of tea, I think, because coffee might steal the spotlight from the flavor. For seasoned fika experts, a kardemummabulle will give you an even stronger kick of spice. The kanel and kardemumma "fikabrod" are like the buns, just made in a bigger quantity. The semlor (available from Jan-April) are also great, but know that they aren't the most conventional. They're a bit sweeter than normal, my hunch being that there's something in addition to the almond paste that's usually in the buns. Perhaps it's a little too sweet, but nothing that irritated me, or dare I say stopped me. Seating can be a bit tricky to find, but don't let that discourage you from coming here. Staff are always super friendly and kind. I wish I lived next door.

We came here at the recommendation of our server at another restaurant. What a phenomenal place! There was so much bread to stare at and drool over. We came during what I would call breakfast/ brunch time. We ordered sandwiches and refreshments, they were like lemonade mixtures made fresh. I was disappointed in the size of the drinks we got because they were so tiny! I chugged mine and it was gone, it did taste darn good though. We were very thirsty because it was a long hot walk to get us there. We then consumed the entire water pitcher at least twice, thank goodness it was left out for guests because it would have been a pain to ask each time. My sandwich was amazing!! I had what was basically a coarser with different fun colored tomatoes but it was nacho average capers sandwich. I'm still thinking about the taste weeks later. We also had some sweets and I'm pretty sure my husband left with a baguette to walk around with. A nice place to stop for Fika or lunch.

I usually don't get impressed by Swedish confectioneries, in my opinion their selection is usually quite dull, and frankly not so tasty. It is the classic Swedish cinnamon bun and perhaps a few other goods. You had one and you've had them all! So Petrus is a nice contrast! They have the cinnamon bun - a delicious version, but also several other well made Swedish confectioneries, sandwiches and breads, combined with French ones! A great selection that creates diversity. And everything is really well made! What I also like is that they know what they are good at, and seem proud enough to not try to take focus from it! You come here to enjoy confectioneries or sandwiches. If you want a cup of coffee or tea with it, you can enjoy a classic Swedish coffee (from a thermos!) or tea from teabag. No fancy drinks here! Which is brilliant as there are several spots nearby that try to claim the barista throne! Petrus is also a really cosy spot, with a traditional Scandinavian feel to the place. So if you happen to find an empty seat, grab it and enjoy the deliciousness accompanied with nice selection of jazz music. Only reason I don't give Petrus five stars is that I wish they had a wider selection.

Great spot for a Fika break with a really cozy atmosphere and good eats! The kanelbulle here was fantastic and my favorite one that I tried while in Stockholm, and it was reasonably priced too. We got teas (though wish there was more hot water served with it) and also tried the cardamom buns, which were great but I liked less lan the cinnamon bun version. Could've had a second or a third easily and they were flakier and more pastry-dough like than others I've tried, can't go wrong!

I am very serious when it comes to cinnamon buns! Everytime im in Stockholm i will investigate ! All for the love of research of course. Buns here are very tastt & moist - makes sense as everything us fresh. Rest of pastries and bread look & smell great too However, they only have black coffee, mhm...

Sometimes you just need somewhere to catch your breath, catch up, and plan for the rest of the day. Chokladkoppen did that for me. I had the Hot Chocolate and a cinnamon bun, and leisurely sat at my table for at least 30 minutes. There was never pressure to move on, which is so common, at least in the US ("Are you finished working on that? Can I bring you something else? Can I bring you a box?). The hot chocolate was dark, very much tasted like quality chocolate, and like a warm massage. I also ate one of their cinnamon buns, which are very popular in Stockholm. It also hit the spot. The cost of the hot chocolate was $6 USD and the cinnamon bun was a few cents less. The view from the table and people watching alone was worth the total $12 cost, but so was the hot chocolate and cinnamon bun.

Unfortunately, the broccoli soup I ordered was just not good, and my boyfriend got the chicken curry baked potato, only to receive a chicken salad potato. Perhaps a translation error, but it was not the best culinary experience.
