    Waffles w/ cloudberry

Love, love, love this place! We were looking for a swedish waffle place and Yelp led us here & per usual, Yelp didn't lead us astray! The decor here is all 1950's-esque and apparently all the owner's family's collection...down to the coffee mugs! The owner, who was a wonderfully kind lady, helped us through our indecision and questions. EVERYTHING is good here. From the lingonberry waffle to the bacon, egg & avocado waffle savory waffle to the pies, you really can't go wrong. I also had the best Kanelbullar (Swedish Cinnamon Rolls) here especially since they were fresh out of the oven.

Located conveniently in the middle of Katrina Bangatan, I'd highly suggest taking a pause in your mid-day promenade to grab a quick bite in one of Stockholm's only waffle-specializing cafés. They nail the traditional Swedish waffle flawlessly; the raspberry jam is neither lip-puckering sour nor sickeningly sweet, either of which I've experienced in prior waffle experiences elsewhere. The whipped cream is sinfully indulgent, but they dollop just the right amount to blend the jam and waffle together. The waffle itself has just the right amount of crisp on the edges, and is a bit softer on the insides. I'll be honest and say that my first impression wasn't perhaps the most alluring; I ordered one of their savory waffles and was a bit disappointed. It was a vegetarian eggs-benedict waffle wrap, and perhaps I should have known from the start that it was a bit too ambitious to be good. The avocado overpowered the waffle, and both the sauce & waffle left an oily aftertaste following the avocado. But I came back to try their sweet waffles, and I'm glad I did. Service staff is incredibly friendly, and the cozy 50s style interior design makes it a great place to sit down and do work in. Would recommend!

Yummy! The menu is all in Swedish but the cashier spoke English and helped me figure out what to get. The fresh fruit waffle was absolutely delicious. The waffle was perfectly thin and crispy just like the Bruxie in LA :) The atmosphere is a cute American style diner and the service is very quick as well.

This was the best dining experience I think I've ever had. If I could rate this place 6/5 stars, I would. People that are dairy-free, THIS is the place for you. I became lactose intolerant 2 years ago and have not had a decent milkshake since. The service was AMAZING here and made me a milkshake with dairy-free salted caramel ice cream, oat milk, and even vegan whipped cream. I have never had a dairy free milkshake that creamy and packed with flavor. Additionally- my friend and I split the Eggs Benedict Waffle and loved it. It was a bit messy but what it lacked for in cleanliness it made up for in flavor!

Nice to see that the old boring Pause cafe previously here has been replaced by some people who are enthusiastic about what they are doing and have a clear vision. The cafe Älskade Traditioner feels like a Swedish take on a classic American diner. They have a very retro decor, old brand posters on the walls, a jukebox (possible to select the music) and a mix of old furniture. They serve a lot of home made pastries and cookies (looks nice) but also different types of waffles. Both food waffles (called wraffles) and regular sweet waffles. In addition to that there are salads, smoothies, coffee and tra. The coffee is pretty decent, Johan&Nyström is the roaster but the execution is not always top notch. Still much better than in most cafes. The food is unfortunately a bit better in theory than it tastes, a lot of the stuff sounds great and I really like the idea but the execution somewhat fails. The food is decent but it does not really lift. The sweet stuff is better and perhaps that should be the focus. The staff are very friendly and helpful so easy to like the place. Free wifi and plenty of space also are strong points here. It is sort of worth a 3.5 rating but I will give it a 4 rather than a 3 as the service is good, a lot of the stuff is really nice and the food will perhaps improve a bit as well.

Very good waffles. Have both savory and sweet. The waffles are thin and a little crispy. Great place and atmosphere!

Come here with an appetite! There are both savory and sweet items here, with large portions. Delicious! If you split two dishes with a friend, they will split it for you, which is thoughtful. The coffee is served in mugs (with various designs), which is unique and sustainable. English menu and free Wi-Fi available upon request.

This coffee shop is well known for their well baked pastries along side their celebrated freakshakes and spectacular waffles. I would recommend this place if you are prepared to spend quite a bit of money on not only a coffee but for the experience. Super easy to order for locals or tourists too. This coffee shop is amazingly decorated on the interior. As it is covered in 50's posters and objects. Although the bathroom may freak you out with the dolls and traditional children's toys. I had a great time and a day I won't forget.

This is a nice, retro cafe with a wide variety in waffles and fika generally. You order and they serve it to you. The waffles are thin but big and the topping is as much as it should be. Friendly stuff is a plus and the prices that are normal I can say. The nutella waffle was 98kr. The thing that I don't like is that they close early on weekends, around 18:00. Oh and that they have a scale on the WC that shows you that you weigh 5kg more! Thanks for making me feel ashamed for eating my waffle

Where to start? From the beautifully, carefully chosen interior or super special menu?! This place is a complete heaven for café lovers! I have a hand in interior designing myself( well, more like a hobby) & I just couldn't get over how they put together an old American diner style with old countryside Swedish style & it all worked out like it was meant to be mixed! They have all sorts of vintage Swedish China cups next to a huge jukebox & traditional Swedish pastry & its all flawless! I gotta admit that it takes a whole lot of courage to decorate a place like that & I loved it! As for the breakfast/ brunch menu, they had this amazing waffles with different kinds of toppings & a breakfast menu & four kinds of milkshakes. I think there is something for everyone on that menu to choose from. At first when I looked at the menu, I thought it was a bit pricey but when I got my gigantic waffle I thought it was all worth it. I have been to many cafes in Stockholm area & usually when you order a ham & cheese sandwich you get a bread with basically ham & cheese & maybe a small piece of paprika or cucumber but they had this extra touch with some dressing & some rocket salad in their sandwich that I really appreciated. The staff were super friendly & attentive. The cafe is located in one of the oldest quarters of Stockholm that is a must-see for tourists. Last but not least, they have free Wi-fi!

Located on a largely residential street not far from the Metro Station and open seven-to-seven on Weekdays with slightly shorter hours on weekends, at least one Baker still present approaching 16h00 and presumably working on items for the next day, it was after browsing still-full shelves that six items were selected, the Café upstairs offering a pleasant place to dine as the majority of patrons filled seats outside. Using slightly different nomenclature than other Konditori around Stockholm, the Wienerbrod for instance dubbed Vaniljbulle thanks to the flavor of thick Custard inside its fluffy golden coils, it was with Princess Cake dressed pretty in Pink that one of the city's best slices was found, at least five separate layers including Cream and Raspberry Compote contributing to Pound Cake that was more buttery than others but still surprisingly light. Not about to pass on the classic Fika focused on throughout nine days in Sweden, Åsö's Cardamom Bun more leavened than others and thus open beneath the sugared top with a nice stretch to the Dough, it was with a dual layer of the same Raspberry Jam tasted earlier that a Katalan Tart shined while the Tosca also performed admirably, the now-predictable Chokladbol in this instance occurring by way of a "Lillebror" that replaced with Pearl Sugar around the Chocolate and Oat core.

Fine fine Nordic eating…read more * * * This is a bakery/cafe that covers the four basic food groups: 1) Bread 2) Pastry 3) Coffee 4) Lunch Five stars on all of the above. * * * Recipes here are standard Swedish. Where they make their mark is in execution. Let's start with the drip coffee. You know how in "Pulp Fiction" and "Twin Peaks" a running gag is Coffee that is so good, everyone stops everything they are doing to comment on how good the coffee is? Aso's drip coffee could be that amazing stop-everything coffee. My only regret is that I did not have Kyle MacLachlan or Harvey Keitel with me to enjoy a cup. * * * Lunch was Raksmorgas, a standard Swedish dish of shrimp, fresh dill, lemon, tomatoes and homemade mayonnaise on thinly sliced rye bread. Aso's adds a hard-boiled egg to the proceedings. What was so good about this? Just about everything. The shrimp were small but packed with flavor. Imagine the flavor intensity of a salami, but in small cold shrimp. Fresh dill is always wonderful. Fresh dill can make cardboard taste good. The hard boiled eggs were perfectly timed. Bright golden moist-crumbly yellow yolks. Most restaurants give you over-boiled rubbery yellow-green yolks. Net of cooking time, the eggs themselves were a lot better than the old commercial refrigerator eggs we get in the United States. I suspect these were fresh eggs. The decadent treat was the rye bread on the bottom. This covered with homemade mayonnaise. The difference between homemade mayonnaise and jar mayonnaise is like the difference between a real kiss and a picture of a kiss. The mayonnaise drips into the rye bread. So do the flavor leavings of the shrimp and the egg and the tomato. The result? Bread to die for. Sopping up the good stuff from your meal with bread is always good. Sopping up the good stuff from your meal with superior Swedish rye bread is over the top excellent. * * * How is the bakery as a bakery? Love of the life got a walnut bread with her salad that was first rate. It was stick to your ribs stuff. One roll's worth of walnut bread and you were fed for a week. And totally walnutted to boot. On the dessert side, they do have decadent blow-all-the-calories desserts. But many Swedish pastries are in the same family with English scones. These are meant to be a snack by themselves. Substantial. Restrained. Subtle but worthwhile flavor. I had a Katalan which is two thin layers of lingonberry filling between three layers of substantial pie crust. Katalan means "from Catalonia" and naturally there is nothing more Spanish than lingonberries. (Cough cough). Not a good dessert choice after a heavy meal, but it would have been perfect with coffee at four in the afternoon. * * * Overall, an absolutely fine establishment. And even better if your world stops spinning for good coffee.
