My wife and I have lived in Claremont for almost 5 years. Up until now, we have really enjoyed Petiscos. Today, we ordered 4 Carne Asada tacos, pozole, papa's braves, and a breakfast burrito. My wife and daughter thought the taco shells were too thick and did not add to the dish. The papa's bravas were cold, and the drizzle was completely different and not enjoyable. I found the burrito lacked flavor. It's sad but this might be our last visit. I don't know what has happened and honestly can't refer people to go there. read more

The food is hit or miss. A lot of items on the menu aren't always available. They're very short staffed so service os slow. Let me preface this review by saying we usually love Petiscos- the food, the laid back outdoor atmosphere, and the small town vibes. That said, they have GOT to do something about their service and how much time it takes to get your food to you- specifically on Sundays when the farmers market means guaranteed larger crowds. We came today and ordered three tacos and one burrito to go. We were order #16 and when asked, were told the wait was about 15 minutes. We sat down to wait and got our salsas to go and my husband started his timer because we needed to get to our son's baseball tournament and leave the village by 11:30. This was at about 10 a.m. Fast forward MORE THAN ONE HOUR LATER and we still had not gotten our food. We had asked multiple times for our order and were told they "were working on it". Meanwhile, several other orders were being called out. When they got to order #22 being done, we had had enough. My husband asked for our money back, to which they replied the food was "almost done", which obviously was not good enough. I got the feeling that those who ordered ahead of us were getting their food sooner because they tipped on their order. We did not, so we kept getting pushed to the back. I don't know this for sure, but what other reason could it be, and how long does it take to make three tacos and one burrito? In the end, they gave us our money back and we walked out hungry, frustrated, and running late to our son's game. At the very least, they should have given us our money back, plus an apology, and also given us our order for free. Unfortunately for them, they lost our business and we will take our money and time to one of the many other restaurants in the village who have better customer service. So the moral of the story is...if you have all day to wait around, this is the place for you. But if you're hungry and don't appreciate having multiple people who come after you get their order before you, don't even waste your time and just go elsewhere. You can definitely walk past here a few times without noticing this hole in the wall - I know I did. Walk through and it's a whole other world.. a backyard with a fire pit, picnic tables and a tiki bar. I loved the vibe of this place while I waited for my breakfast burrito. I got the soy chorizo burrito, which is a breakfast burrito with eggs and potatoes. It was so good! The burrito came with green salsa on the side, which was outstanding! I could eat the salsa by itself!!! I'm very picky with my salsas, and this was very good! I also got Jamaica, which was a perfect taste.. not to sweet. If you're not getting your tacos from here, you're missing out! My favorite items to get are their cactus, carnitas and birria tacos. Absolutely delicious and they are not shy with their portions. Definitely worth the price they charge which is $5 per taco. I also ordered a side of rice and it was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. I do have to bring recognition to their birria tacos. I was pleasantly surprised. I drive all the way to rancho to order a good birria taco. They charge $5.50 per taco and it comes with consommé with cilantro and onions but that's not the best part... it's really a quesabirria taco! The tortilla is a quesadilla. My absolute favorite! What a steal. The seasoning on the meat was so good I thought they made it traditionally with goats meat but it is beef! Please give this place a try.. everything on the menu is worth it. They also have many different salsas to choose from and they are all delicious. House-made chips are a nice addition as well. Zucchini instead of cukes, no dressing, no jicama...it goes on. Broken bathroom which was not well maintained. As well, you have to get your own food from the counter and bus your own table. We have been coming here since it has opened but not nearly enough. The rub use to be the tacos are overpriced for what you get but I don't see that anymore. I've had most of the offerings and they are a good size for the value. The carnitas was very good and the fish taco was great. We also had a asada burrito which very good too. The outside space is great area to sit and play games. Are these the best tacos you will ever have? No, but they are great for when you want a small bite and some good atmosphere. The best bakery in the Inland Empire, Creme, was unfortunately closed that morning and I was famished, leading me to finally taste test Petiscos down the street. I've passed it for months but it has never particularly drawn me in with its tired menu that seems to cater to the wan, simplistic palate of the anglo types--their majority customers. I got a vegan burrito and it disappointingly met my low expectations so I had to yelp about it. The potatos were left in large chunks which means they did not absorb the flavors of whatever meagre smear of "sauce" they threw in (utterly negligible). The zucchini was grilled plain, also in too large chunks that did not help to convey flavor. That was it. No effort at any kind of substitute egg product, no tofu scramble, no greens, no beans. Not even a pico de gallo in there, nope they were not even trying. I would have done better to get a frozen Trader Joe's burrito stuffed with more flavor and ingredients, than drop $10 on this nothing burger. Look Petisco's can't seem to muster up an authentic chilli salsa in the Inland Empire, which is not only a shame but a failure to care about creating flavor or bringing elevated taste to their food product. Petisco's exists to give a certain type of customer the comforting illusion of eating Mexican food because their vegetables are wrapped in a tortilla and that's all their limited minds can handle. Don't waste your time here, wink wink, there are a dozen more authentic and actually flavorful places in nearby Pomona. read more

Cook said both were great but his description of the special made chorizo that would not be too greasy sold me on it. Took about 10 mins for fresh coffee and the burrito to be made so don't be in a rush. Burrito was huge. Had it for breakfast and lunch. Green salsa was mild so if you like spicy going to need your own. Overall it was delicious. No 5th star for me only because the potato chunks were too big. Man, go elsewhere. This spot used to be really good a few years ago, but post pandemic it's a sloppy nightmare. The staff are rude and lazy. The owner needs to step in again or just shut the sad and tired place down already. The tacos went from being interesting fusion cuisine to incredibly boring and unappetizing. Not worth the price point for such basic b**** food. Greasy looking too, definitely not what it once was. I came today to get some elote. Before ordering I watched a nice family of 4 before me be shouted at over their order and then rushed to pay when the guy was clearly trying to get out his wallet and was having trouble. I mean, I should've walked away right then and there. I finally get to order and again, the guy is rude and is trying to rush me. I was going to order more stuff but that cemented in why I did not. I get the street corn and wow. WHAT A TOTAL JOKE. It's soup. This is freaking corn SOUP. It's a ton of corn they bought from a can, and dropped into a half pint of SOUP. Mayonnaise, paprika, cojita cheese and some cilantro but it's in soup form. None of it sticks to your elote like ACTUAL STREET CORN. They no longer roast the corn CLEARLY as you can see it's from a can. Disgusting. Total waste of almost $6 and I will never be back. We will never go back! We've been several times and always enjoy the food, but after the way I was treated today we will never go again! The person working the register was the rudest person I've ever encountered in the food service industry! We ordered chips and salsa, and the chips were so overcooked they tasted burnt. My fiancée took them back and asked for a 2nd batch. The 2nd batch was just as bad! This time I took them back and asked for a refund. He threw them on the counter and yelled at me! He said that they were fine because he literally made them himself. IT WAS SO RUDE!!!! He refunded our money but was awful about it! In addition to the horrible service, our food wasn't very good. My fiancé couldn't even eat her chicken taco, it was that bad. She decided to not ask for a refund after the way I was treated. My fish taco was ok, but it wasn't amazing. As we walked out, we noticed that someone else left a full plate of overcooked chips on the table. How sad that this restaurant doesn't value their customers. Went to order the El Kobe taco under signature tacos and then wanted plain asada tacos and the guy interrupts me when I say I want the asada tacos and says "that's the same thing" like really abrupt. Just a rude interaction overall. I get the tacos and the meat is subpar, cold, and I'm still sick from them two days later. Only reason I ate it because I was high starving.
