She even joked that they must've had a different cook working that day. The food wasn't bad, but it also didn't live up to the expectations that were set. The consommé was decent and the portions were generous, but overall the flavor was just average. If I were rating this visit alone, it would probably be closer to a 3/5. That said, I'm giving it a 4/5 because my girlfriend has had a much better experience here before and swears it's usually better than what we received. The other factor is the price. For a restaurant where you order at the counter, grab your number, and seat yourself, it feels a bit expensive for what you get. I'd be willing to give it another shot since it sounds like consistency may be the issue, but based on this visit, it didn't quite live up to the hype.

Hospitality can make a huge difference, and unfortunately it was lacking here. This is huge for me in a sit down. The restaurant has a fun sports-bar atmosphere with plenty of TVs, but the restroom also needed attention and wasn't as clean as expected. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not one I'd go out of my way to repeat at all. There are too many great Mexican restaurants in the area for this one to make it back onto my regular rotation. Seating area is large and darkly lit. The guy who took my order was attentive and quickly gave me a free chip and salsa with my water. The mole is a good portion and seasoned nicely. The red rice and refried beans were seasoned nicely. The chicken was moist and the mole had a good flavor balance of sweet, salty, and slightly spicy. The staff is nice and the place is clean.

It was definitely on the greasy side, but there was some flavor there. I just wouldn't describe it as particularly authentic or something I would go out of my way for.
