Spending a little time with my girlfriends after working a fashion show. We decided to have breakfast/brunch. Peter's Cafe, a staple of Millbrae's El Camino Real, has been a local fixture for over 60 years. Server - Wendy, she was great and service was so fast. Peter's Special Scramble Loco Moco Hamburger - Potato Salad Butter Milk Pancakes - Maple Syrup Coffee Chardonnay The deco is an old fashion diner. Have lots of history with all the decorations of picture and fun planes. It is a must visit.

Old school diner vibes. Food was great and the staff was welcoming and friendly. Will be back.

Great experience with the owner Tiffany and her husband. Been family owned for 50 years near the Millbrae bart/train station

A tried and true establishment in Millbrae. Peter's Cafe has a large parking lot, which is great. Service was friendly, and food came quickly. Quality/taste was okay, but I think the highlight of Peter's is the old-school diner vibes with their booths, decor, and more.

I thought this place was ok! This place had good amount of options and I decided to get the avocado burger. The burger was solid and fries were good, but most of my family's food was semi cold. This place is good if you're looking for a mid level breakfast. I don't know if I'd come back.

Our super waitress Wendy, she is the best.

This was our first experience at Peter's Cafe, it was great. It is a throw back to years past and we loved it. We had brunch so lucky us it wasn't too crowded. The Peter's Omelette was delicious, as was the corn beef hash and their apple pancakes. We loved our waitress, Wendy, who has worked at Peter's for 20 years. Can't wait to come back.

German apple baby

Tons of seating. Our waitress got busy so rather than letting us just sit and wait, some else came and took our order, which was awesome. They gave e us a whole carafe of coffee instead of having us wait on refills. We got the German apple baby, totally worth the wait and the price. A side of hashbrowns and bacon were about $20 which is diabolical, but otherwise we were very happy.

Great old school diner. Portions are decent for the price tho the hash brown serving is on the smaller end compared to other diners. The bacon in the omelette was generous however.

As My Co Worker & I Got Off From A 5 Hours Overtime At SFO Today Thursday July 03,2025 We Have Decided To Have Breakfast At Peter's Cafe. As We Walk Inside The Cafe I Was Impressed With Interior As We Were Greeted And Seated. So We Get To Try The Loco Moco, Pancakes And Coffee For Our Orders And Were Satisfied On The Portions Of The Menu. Best Breakfast Meal I Ever Have So Far And Highly Recommended.

Happened upon this place for breakfast on a Friday morning. Unbeknownst to me, my mother in law had been going here for many years/decades in some form. I can see why. Good parking lot, welcoming and attentive staff, and great breakfast food! I got the turkey Benedict, my wife got chicken apple sausage and eggs. Well executed and great portions. And what an excellent vibe inside. Would highly recommend for breakfast, both traditional and unique specials, if you're in the area.

After a long night of fun and drinks, I needed a good breakfast spot, especially since I we were staying the Westin, which was hosting a conference and was super busy in the morning. After some research and craving comfort food, the family and I decided on this spot. It's within walking distance, but we drove which was convenient and there was plenty of parking on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. Their menu features dishes like loco moco, steak and eggs, burgers, hot and cold sandos that caught my eye, but I wanted something hearty. I knew a chicken fried steak would hit the spot, so I decided to share it with my partner. My sister ordered a burger, that hit. Her fries and burger both looked absolutely delicious, and the chicken fried steak was fantastic! We also ran into a few friends from the wedding party, which just reaffirmed that this place is known for great food. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Overall, worth the cheat meal!

So the only reason why I'm giving this place three stars is because the waitress didn't wash her hands and she was touching things and flipping pancakes and stuff like that. I don't think it was sanitary. I didn't touch my pancakes other than that the host I think it's the owner two was very nice. Restaurant was a diner style very accessible. I hope they see this and change their sanitary ways but I would come back if they did so.

It was early in the morning and we were hungry for breakfast (warm cooked breakfast) so we decided to visit this place. Walking was just a few minutes from our hotel and seems to be priced reasonably. Walking inside felt super nostalgic and the decorations made the place feel warm and comfortable. You can check in with a staff before entering the seating area and we ordered to go. There's a coffee shop counter inside which I don't think is open but was nice to check out. They also had a whiteboard of "specials" you can order that isn't part of the menu. We decided to try their loco moco to share and eat in our room. We asked for the gravy on the side in case so we don't have issues with spilling on the way back. It only took less than 10minutes and after paying and getting our food we went back. The meal came with toast or pancakes, we opted for pancakes which came with whipped butter and syrup packages. The sunny side up eggs were cooked well and we got our meat patty medium done. The gravy and rice was pretty ok and it came with a container of green onions. Overall pretty good, I think the place fits well for a nice sit down meal with a warm drink and family/friends. There is also a sign warning customers to be careful with parking your car with belongings just like anywhere else around the area, you never know what can happen.

There were plenty of empty tables, but no one was really taking orders, so we ended up waiting around 30 minutes when it should not have taken that long. Also, the young lady at the cash register let someone who was already eating cut the line just to order more food. Everyone waiting seemed annoyed, but no one said anything. The service once you're seated isn't the best either. The workers don't really come around to check on you, so if you need water or anything else, you pretty much have to flag someone down. Even for to-go boxes, napkins, etc., you have to get up and grab them yourself from the counters. It's not a huge deal, but it definitely makes the service feel a little lacking. The food was also just okay this time. I got the chicken and waffles, and the waffle was pretty bland while the chicken was way too salty. Overall, the prices are a little on the expensive side too , it was $7 just to add one pancake.

I can't really say anything about the atmosphere or service since I didn't physically visit this store. What I can say, though, is that Backhaus serves some stellar baked goods from everything I was able to try. Kouign Amann ($6) - This pastry has a nice tighter brioche-like crumb, clearly constructed without trying to be a croissant like so many other bakeries. There's an excellent thin sugar glaze melted on the bottom. It almost shatters like glass and is not too sweet. Sugar soaks into a pocket on the interior, creating a sweet, soft, almost pudding-like texture. (5/5) Almond Croissant ($7.75) - Really open lamination, airy and chewy. Cut in half and slathered with a dark brown colored almond frangipane. It's by far the darkest rendition I've seen and seems to have higher moisture content than most, so it soaks into the croissant, creating a soggy texture. It's also not strongly almond in flavor for some reason. The sliced almond on top powers the pastry far more than the filling. The croissant is good but definitely not my favorite. (4/5) Croissant Loaf ($22) - At first I thought this croissant loaf was really expensive, but I think it's well worth the price. Firstly, it's quite long. I didn't measure it, but I'd guess it's baked in one of the larger pullman loaf pans, probably at least 16 inches. The interior, while not having as large honeycomb air pockets as a normal croissant, still flake apart easily into layers. The loaf is compressed a bit from being baked in the pan, rather than having the freedom to openly rise. It's deliciously buttery inside, while the exterior is a dark golden brown that flakes apart. Unfortunately they bag the loaf up, so the exterior flakiness softens due to the moisture trapped in the plastic. It's still an excellent croissant loaf and it works wonderfully in sandwiches, as French Toast, and eaten just by itself. (5/5) I wish Backhaus had been open back when I lived in the Bay. I will definitely visit in person next time I fly down.

We chose the blueberry oatmeal scone, which was delicious, tasted almost like a cookie. Also got the raspberry coffee cake which was not my favorite as the raspberry was pretty strong and overshadowed the coffee cake. Finally got the breakfast sandwich which was my favorite item. To drink we all got cardamom lattes, hot. For some reason the drinks came out extremely hot, like I couldn't even pick up my mug without burning my fingers. After it cooled down for 10 minutes, it was really good but perhaps the baristas need to adjust their milk frothing temperature? The space is really cool, they have an upstairs section and if you sit by the window you get a nice view of the outside. They do not have outlets, so it's not designed to sit at all day and study.

I originally went because of looking at the prices on an image on yelp. It was $16 for sausage, eggs, hash browns, and pancakes. That's a great deal! But, once I got there inflation kicked it up to $18. Not the biggest difference to deter, but just letting everyone know the real price. I got pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon (depicted). The eggs were good, pancakes were very good, hash browns were okay, and the reason for 4 star instead of a 5.... the bacon. The bacon wasn't crispy and cooked to order. It was chewy and I guess they cook it before and then heat it up on the griddle after. It is super noticeable from the taste, but especially from the texture. The two thin pork chops were supposedly marinated, but I couldn't tell from tasting them. They were over cooked--dry, tough and needed some herbs. DH had the cheeseburger with potato salad and praised the meal. He also devoured my dessert--ice cream with chocolate sauce. Service was friendly and efficient, making me want to return. The first time I came was about a year ago when it first opened and was remodeled and I was not impressed for the price point so I never came back. Recently some friends said they really liked it, so I thought why not give it another try? I have to say, I really did like it and they changed up their menu so that it was reasonable and you order from the menu the way you want eat. For example, pick a salad; or a salad and a protein; or a salad, protein and two sides. There is a lot of versatility so you should be able to get something for everyone. I got the apple salad and the chicken cutlet (really a chicken katsu). Felt like it was a nice combination of healthy and a little bit bad so a good compromise hahahah. The lady at the front counter was very nice and explained how the menu worked since I was initially confused. There is a sign saying they don't expect a tip because they want you to come back and they make the tip screen disappear quick so you don't feel guilty but there is a cash tip jar if you want to leave a tip. Lol. Still some pressure but not as much! The restaurant has a nice soft ambient lighting. Since you pick up your own food from the counter and help yourself to water you don't feel rushed to eat and run. So why the 3 stars since it sounds like I enjoyed it? Honestly, and I hate to say this, but it's cuz the people putting the your food on the plate (you can watch them) either didn't have gloves on or had one glove on but moved things on the plate with the ungloved hand. Fixing this would make the place 4 stars. I'm hoping when I go back I will see this because I do plan to go back!
